I did have very strong ideas that may not be for everyone and Karen was able to adjust her design ethos to mine. So, Karen & Dick worked on design, Ed on construction and Dawna on financials. There are many more aspects of the project and people involved. The entire crew consisted of people who are masters at their craft. They were respectful of our time and our home. We were quoted 6-8 weeks for a full Kitchen remodel. 98% was done in 5 1/2 weeks. The budget was firm and detailed. Any changes made during the project were noted and costs were adjusted. No Surprises! I made the changes and the crew adjusted to the work. Make sure you know what you want. Speak up and they will work with you to find what works best for you.

Alex shared all the advantages and warranty information for the GE Oven/Range we purchase, and it was installed in less than 1 hour. Can't say enough good things about the buying experience at Novak & Parker which is rare nowadays at most appliance locations. How about giving me a reasonable eta to plan things (like maybe work?). Am I supposed to sit around all day twiddling my thumbs waiting for a phone call and then waiting for their arrival? Aside from leaving an appliance with an error code (laziness? Apathy? Incompetence?), this is what I'm left with? Aside from that, it takes multiple days to get any responses to my questions. I absolutely would not recommend this company to anyone, nor will I ever use them again.

That, along with a few other cautions, set our expectations before starting our project with Kitchen & Baths Unlimited. For my wife and me, however, the experience turned out very differently. We cannot say enough great things about Nancy (design), Owen (project management) and the entire team that meticulously executed the remodel. While I work from home and my wife commutes downtown, we decided to move forward with gutting and remodeling the vintage kitchen in our 100-year-old farmhouse in Evanston--and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Yes, the demolition phase was a bit loud, as expected. But after that, the usual construction noise--hammering and drilling--was manageable. The team did an excellent job minimizing disruption: adjacent rooms were carefully sealed to contain dust, wood floors were protected with panels, and window treatments were wrapped in plastic. Design selections were also made easy thanks to Nancy, who guided us through choosing colors, cabinets, and countertops that matched our vision. The result is a beautiful transformation from a neglected, dingy farmhouse kitchen into a bright, modern farmhouse space. The Italian tile backsplash complements the quartz countertops with subtle veining. The lower cabinets are a soft gray, while the upper cabinets are white, creating a clean and balanced look. We also upgraded our appliances and fixtures, including LED ceiling lights, a Bosch microwave drawer, a professional KitchenAid range with a matching hood featuring an infrared sensor, and a modern stainless-steel farmhouse sink with a gentle bow. Despite an initial delay with the permit office due to a previously applied for permit that KBU helped us manage, the project stayed on schedule. We made a few minor upgrades along the way, but thanks to Owen and Nancy's guidance, we remained on time and within our overall budget. The KBU crew was professional, punctual, and highly skilled. Communication was seamless--especially since I was working from home--which helped address questions quickly and keep the project moving efficiently. In the end, we passed all inspections and received written approval from the village within a day. For us, this remodel was a great success. Thank you to Nancy, Owen, Patricia, Rade, and the entire team! You are the BEST!

I worked with Julie (designer), her team led by Jesus, and of course, owner Owen. Julie came up with ideas I hadn't even thought of and was able to convert an old, smaller space, into something that felt luxurious. Jesus and his team were super hard workers, pleasant to deal with, trustworthy, and highly efficient and knowledgeable. Everything was overseen frequently by Owen. I was blown away with the gorgeous result and the seemlessness with which this project was completed! I highly recommend KBU to everyone!

I own an older home and as they began to sand the floor it was apparent that some of the floorboards had to be replaced. They seamlessly installed them and I can't even tell there was a repair. I have also had them make custom runners for me which I love and have held up well. I recommend them to my clients when they need new carpet or floor repairs, and they always do a great job. They are easy to work with. Numerous options in the way of flooring to choose from. Karastan carpeting is the way to go if you want a carpet that will last the test of time. I have seen it in homes and after 30+ years it still looks great! I highly recommend Scharm Floor Covering.

Luke met with us to go over what we wanted and put together a computerized picture diagram of what our new kitchen would look like. Very helpful. We liked the selection of cabinets, counter and backsplash he offered us. The remodeling was completed in five weeks which is what he said it would take. He was very responsive when we called or texted with questions. The only complaint I have is that there were additional expenses he didn't tell us about upfront. His quote did not include the fee for the permit ($544.00). In addition, after the kitchen was gutted we discovered that some of the plumbing behind the sink was corroded and needed to be replaced ($1,100.00). I thought his quote was going to be all inclusive but we wound up having to pay a little more. Still, his price was fair and we would use him again if we decide to remodel our bathroom.
