Fantastic sandwiches with great flavor and toasty they have lots of options. The employees are very nice, friendly and helpful. They have great liquor option as well.

If you're in the Fisherman's Wharf area and are near Ghirardelli Square and need a quick lunch, Michaelis is the joint! The sandos here are awesome and you can customize them any way you like. This spot is a corner store with a deli set up, so order your Sando at the counter then head down a block to the Aquatic Park for lunch with a view! Service wise, it's friendly and efficient! Jay's the man!!!

I ordered the Ferris Bueller. The sandwich overall was a 3.5. The flavors were on point but the bread (dutch crunch) was dry. I would try a different roll next time. The owner was very friendly. He talked to me almost the whole time my sandwich was being made. The location is right across the street from Ghirardelli Square on North Point. Small store with good options. They keep it clean!

Asked for a BLTA (bacon, lettuce, tomato & avocado) and they forgot the LT of the BLTA... :( Really nice people there just was not great to get home & have 2/4 ingredients

I needed a big jug of Gatorade before the group workout at the wharf. It was a smaller mini mart and it had sandwiches and some interesting wine. Here's to cornerstores in SF. An old tradition like the Barbary Coast.

    Sad.

Nice staff but for 12 bucks put some meat on the damn sandwich. Weak. My high school cafeteria put more meat on a sandwich.

This is my first time trying this sandwiches and Omg they are so good. The bread is soft and crunchy and the meats are fresh. Really delicious. Whenever I'm around the wharf I must get one now. They're not your basic corner store sandwiches.

Best sandwich I've had in a very long time!

Best sandwich I have had in a very long time. Found this gem while looking for somewhere to get something quick to eat and was not disappointed! All the sandwiches looked amazing.

Really fanfreakingtastic deli in an unassuming location. Don't be fooled by the outside or the fact that there is no place to sit and eat these sandwiches are the business and totally reasonable prices for the area. We split "the wreck" and it was phenomenal.

Actually, I hardly ever go to Safeway anymore. Shelves are always well stocked, store is very clean, and just a pleasant place to shop at. I've never tried the food at the self-serve buffet, but it usually looks pretty fresh. I like that it's never too crowded here, so you can maneuver your way around the aisles easily.

In one incident over a year ago, another customer verbally harassed me and threatened physical harm while I was shopping. Her child was left unattended and was knocking items over, which I reported to security. The guard failed to do his job and did not intervene appropriately. When a supervisor arrived, the situation was handled much more professionally. I should feel safe shopping in my local market. That guard no longer works there, but the experience was upsetting and difficult to move past. Unfortunately, in January 2026, I encountered similar issues with a new security guard. He has repeatedly followed me around the store without cause. Most recently, he approached me unnecessarily, stood uncomfortably close, and spoke to me in an intrusive manner while I was selecting items. His behavior showed poor training and a lack of respect for personal boundaries. These repeated experiences with security staff are negatively affecting the atmosphere at Woodlands. I am a respectful, regular customer and do not want to feel uncomfortable or monitored without cause when shopping. Proper security training and professionalism are essential for customer safety and trust.

We were in San Francisco for about a week, and having a Trader Joe's so close was a total lifesaver. We could easily stop in and grab breakfast foods, snacks, and, of course, our favorite peanut butter cups. It saved us from having to spend a ton of money eating out for breakfast every morning, and we were able to stock up on snacks that lasted us for the entire trip. This Trader Joe's was definitely a different experience than the one we're used to back home in the St. Louis suburbs. Since it was right in the city, you actually had to take an escalator down to get into the store, which was kind of fun and unexpected. I also felt like there was surprisingly more room in the aisles than I expected for a city location. The checkout line was a completely different story! It wrapped around the store, which honestly gave me a little anxiety because I felt like I needed to hurry and get everything because the line looked like it was going to take forever. But they had a ton of checkers working, and the line actually moved incredibly fast. Before I knew it, we were checked out and on our way. It was just really nice to be somewhere familiar while experiencing a totally different version of Trader Joe's in another city. Having one so close to our hotel made our trip easier, more affordable, and a little more fun. And yes, we absolutely stocked up on those peanut butter cups!

We had recently visited Japan and were interested to see if we'd find some of our favorite products here and were happily surprised were there. The cold drinks had a great selection of options with some hard to find flavors and brands. From the produce to meat, seafood, and shelf stable items, it was overwhelming how much this store had. I loved the wide variety of candies and snacks. We picked up some new-to-us and some familiar items while we were here. I also picked up some spices and ingredients that are harder to find. The pricing on everything was very fair, and considering that a lot of these items are imported and not always easy to source, I was so excited! I discovered this place after parking in front of it for the nearby library branch on the same day I listened to KEXP for the first time. I was prepping for an upcoming weekend excursion, and while I usually buy my groceries in the South Bay, closer to where I'm headed, I decided to change things up and get (mostly) everything in one fell swoop.
