I hesitate to even write this because I feel bad leaving a bad review, but my overall experience…read morewas really bad and yelp was what helped move me forward in choosing them to paint my home. Customer service-wise they were great. Communicative, showed up, etc. The painting? Not so much. I chose them after a recommendation from someone in a facebook group, seeing all 5 stars on yelp, and during the initial walk-through for the quote he seemed very focused on being meticulous. We are also very meticulous, so we were happy to find someone on the same wavelength. The quote was very expensive (about 9k for 2 story 2000 sqft) but he said he'd throw in painting the cabinets (and the baseboard stuff I will mention more below) but that it wouldn't be cheaper without the cabinets. I figured since cabinets are usually pretty expensive to get done well that it would be worth it to have them done. Much stuff happens without event. We weren't yet moved into the home at the time, so the house was empty. We paid him and went for the walk-through to check everything out (by ourselves). He told us if we see spots that need touch up we can stick some painters tape and they will come back for touch ups. So we are looking through our house and there is so much overspray on things like doorknobs, wood stairs, cabinet hardware, etc. Lines on things like baseboards and at windows were rarely clean. Many areas had painters tape still stuck on that was painted over so if you pulled it off you'd pull off tape. Drops of paint on the floor. Hardware painted over rather than removed (like in apartments where they just keep piling on the paint!). Etc. The house was also left a mess. Paint dust everywhere. My husband was concerned he wouldn't even come back because we already paid him. He did come back. Unfortunately, even after coming back the issues were not addressed. This time, we asked him to do a walk through with us so we could point things out. Again, he came back. He did try to do things like clean overspray, but he started using paint thinner we asked him not to use (our young children were in the house) and asked me to look at spots he did and they still had spray on them. At that point, we just cut our losses and asked him to leave and decided we'd take care of whatever rather than asking them to do stuff that wasn't going to happen. The reason I chose not to paint my house myself is because I expected a professional would do a better job. This was not hitting the mark at all. I suspect during prep they didn't really clean anything prior to painting. For example, there was hair painted into the wall. They wanted to cut time and costs and also sprayed places they shouldn't or less carefully than they should (I don't know anything about paint spraying, other than overspray shouldn't be everywhere, so something was done incorrectly). Currently, 6-7 months later, in many places in the home there are cracks developing in the paint either due to poor prep or too thick of an application. It's just sad because we paid so much for a paint job we thought would be super professional and ended up with something that doesn't look great and will probably cost a lot more to make look nice by painters next time. If it ever even can. He seemed more focused on the "extras" he wanted to do. Did we appreciate he randomly put baseboards in our closets that didn't have any? Sure (although he ran out of baseboard and left some undone and we were like "well, we'd rather just not have any than half done." he did add more after we mentioned it). Did we appreciate he re did the corners of baseboards on rounded doorways where they were very off? Yes. Did we appreciate he changed a section of hallways that had a different type of baseboard to the same? Yes. But was it worth have a horrible paint job? No. Photos are just a small sampling for examples. Am i ridiculously meticulous? Absolutely. But I do believe this goes beyond what an average person would feel satisfied with, especially paying on the higher end.

We procured three quotes for wallpapering and painting. Tom came promptly and was very nice,…read moremeasured, and gave us an estimate ($2,100 for our 1,548 square foot home). One of the other quotes we received was $2,600.00, and that individual did not measure, so we went with Tom and are so happy we did. We don't live at the property yet, but Tom made it very easy for us to work with him, and we totally trusted him with our home. Tom also fixed issues from the previous painters at no extra cost to us (like where they had gotten paint on the trim and moulding). He worked extremely fast with precision, kept us in the loop on issues with the house, and even fixed 2 walls for me where I mistakenly told him to paint them the wrong color. Our final interior bill came out to $3,100.00 because the house ended up needing 3 coats instead of 2 coats due to the dark color the previous owners had selected, but that also included materials and was still cheaper than one of the other quotes we had received. We liked Tom and Chris' work so much that we also selected them to paint our exterior, and they did a fabulous job. Not only did they go above and beyond by actually fixing areas of our home where the paneling was coming off and caulking it back onto the home, but they gave it a thorough power wash and coordinated the work with other exterior contractors. I called him again today and he answered and I let him know that we wanted to cancel the contract as we were getting other bids. He told me the $1,000 was non refundable regardless of whether he does the work or not. I'm pretty sure in California a homeowner has a minimum of 3 days cooling off, for seniors 65+ they have 5 days and a contractor must return the monies held on deposit which is usually the right thing to do. In either case, I can't imagine someone would take advantage of seniors like this- but Dan Burke is a master at elder abuse. We won't let this go and he will make it right. hire this guy at risk- no integrity and no sense of respect and decency.
