My sister and mom got a $10 grab bag box and I helped my mom go through hers. I had noticed a few items that I could use for my kids on the school bus. I asked my husband to go with me and that's how we ended up here. So we found the boxes and proceeded to grab 5 of them. We noticed that the self checkouts were all card only, but one. The guy in front of us used it and then walked away- so we went to the register. The lady looked at us and was like "ugh, can I help you" and we said yes we have these. She was talking on the radio and kept telling us to use a self checkout and I said I had cash. She was like ugh and said I will see if I can get someone here. Mind you we were standing in front of her for more than 5mins. And My husband was like no it's fine don't worry about it he would just use his card and she just was like okay and walked away. I understand if you're are in between something, but being in retail you assist the customer or explain the situation like "I'm sorry I don't work up here, but I can definitely have someone come up here to help you if you don't mind waiting for a minute," but no she just doesn't say anything and was like she wanted to get away and rolled her eyes. read more

Incompetent and uncaring staff. My daughter and I went to Michael's to buy a present. We started out at a self checkout and tried to print a gift receipt. We asked an employee for help. She told us the self checkouts can't print gift receipt, go to a person to check out. We went to a person and the first thing we said is that we need a gift receipt. They rang us up and didn't print a gift receipt. We asked again for one. The person at first acted like they didn't know what we were asking, then asked a coworker, who said we needed to use a self checkout to print a gift receipt. read more

They have sales and coupons. You never know what's going on sale though. They're usually a little pricey without the coupons and they don't have many people there to assist. They definitely don't have expertise generally speaking. read more

Let me start off with saying my biggest regret on my part is I usually am so busy shopping, or hungry to eat, or enjoying myself, that I forget to checkin on Yelp. Today was no different, lol. Michael's is no longer the king of arts and crafts. A side from the experience of a very small and limited crafting supply inventory and the staff with little or no knowledge of art supplies, Michael's is now capitalizing on hiring people to just walk around. They now require the customer to check themselves out after providing their personal information for Michael's to sell, and with these cost savings to the company the customer doesn't get any. read more

Needed to buy a few frames for home. I went and found them, on sale. I saw there was a coupon you could scan with your phone, but for some reason it was only on a stanchion sign at the front of the store, not in multiple places like it has been in the past. I walk up to the sign to scan the code and a young employee immediately reprimands me. He says I cannot scan the code and to get it online using my phone. He then asked me if I knew how to do that, in a condescending tone. I bought my stuff and left. Not sure what that was all about. Wonder if he always speaks with an attitude of superiority. Seriously, its only a coupon. He was supposed to be watching the self-check outs, but instead was watching that sign. I hope he gets over whatever was bothering him. His attitude annoyed me, but at the same time, it amused me. Oh well. He was a gatekeeper. Good for him....lol. I'm sure he will get away with it. I understand cashiers are frustrated but doesn't mean they have the right to spread it towards customers, I wasn't sure about a price and asked if the cashier can check it for me and she gave me an attitude "I don't know the price" and didn't let me know if she was going to check it for me so I asked if she could check for me please And respond to me "I will check it once I'm done" with an attitude. That makes me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable to approach to workers when I'm concerned about something. read more

We went for a picture frame and ended up spending a lot more on all sorts of stuff. They have everything art related. Tons of sales and discounts so you don't have to pay full price. Our custom picture frame would have been $248 but we got it for $93. That's a good deal! I liked the store, will return when I am shopping for that genre. read more

I just returned an apothecary jar that was in store for $32, but because I didn't have the original receipt (since it was a gift from my husband), they gave me a store credit of $12.99!!! I spoke to the manager, Jason, who said that it "wasn't his policy", and could care less that I was upset. Seriously!?!? What are you doing with my $19 Michaels? What a great location! Every time I come in here the employees are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They are helpful, but not breathing down your neck while you shop and that is something I appreciate more than anything while shopping. They have a great selection of Cricut supplies and also an incredible variety of vinyl and all things related. I forgot about the early closure on Sunday, and so I ended up being that terrible retail customer that keeps the store open. the manager, Tony, was so nice and didn't make me feel out of place at all and even offered to let me stay in the store until the registers were about to shut down. I love coming to this Michael's, and Tony really reinforced that feeling today with his kindness. Great job for having such a kind manager who genuinely cares about the customers in the store. That's a rare find! Also, Michael's price matches to Walmart, Amazon, and several other retailers. They also take coupons from competitors such as Jo-Ann's (which usually always has a 50% or more coupon available daily) And that is a huge reason why I shop here! read more

This is such a nice Michael's location. The staff is SO friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond. It is very clean and well organized. I was very impressed. Definitely one of the nicest Michael's stores I've ever been to. They had a really large selection of jewelry display which NEVER happens at Michaels. I love this place! Although it seems like it's a small Michael's you are sure to find anything for your crafty needs! I usually go and buy art supplies, beads, frames, paper, decor, pots... Oh dear never mind I go here for a lot of things! It must be their coupons (40% off) and good customer service, cashiers are always nice and patient when I'm looking for my online coupon. One of my favorite locations to go to! It features a wide variety of craft items and is always fully stocked! I really enjoyed their clearance aisle's because they always have great items on discount. I've been here twice for framing and won't be back. The price is not much better than stand-alone operations such as Mann's Art & Frame and the quality and service are worse. My first job was placing a custom mat in one of their off-the-shelf frames for a watercolor. It looks OK, but the price for the matting was not cheap. Additionally, they never called when it was ready despite saying they would and printing that on the receipt. More recently, I brought an item framed at a Michael's in Arizona where the print had slipped in the mat for adjustment. They did agree to fix it for no charge, which I appreciate. However, they did not call again when it was complete and it was difficult to reach the store on the phone. Oddly, if I called twice in close succession (as I needed to on two occasions), their phone tree would drop the call. When I called again using *67 to hide my number the call went through. read more

That said, I try to browse for a little while and then ask for help. I literally spent about 15 minutes trying to find an associate on the floor willing to help. The ones I was ready to approach seemed like they were on a mission to save the world and couldn't be disturbed. The guy I actually cornered didn't look too enthused to help. I don't know if it was an off day. Quite possible. However, I should be able to find a willing soul to help me, not have to stalk someone and some smiles wouldn't hurt. I dropped off two canvas art pieces to be gallery wrapped on 5/20/2022. I was charged $270 and told it would be ready by 6/20/2022. When I went to pick up on 6/20, I was advised that there was a computer glitch and the stretcher bar was not ordered, but that they would order it and the art would be ready in one week. I decided to give them two weeks, and called on 7/2/2022 to see if the art was done. It was not done, in fact it had not been started yet and I was told the person who would be working on it would not be in until 7/5/2022, so they couldn't really tell me when it would be done. I tried to pay as a credit card and it timed out on me. She said "it's because you didn't put your pin". I told her it didn't asked for it. We tried it again and she pointed out a screen and said "there". I mentioned that I was paying credit and she says "then just hit the green". Like I'm a grade school kid. Nothing says to do that. This location in Old Town is always fully stocked with seasonal decor and more. Associates can easily be found in the aisles even on those busy days. They are extremely helpful with merchandise and always take the time to check other stores as well as in entity in the back. I haven't taken one of their crafting classes but they are always full. The layout of this store is easy to access too, I've been to other that have floating middle aisles that I'm not too fond of. Parking here can be crazy but if you don't mind a short walk, shades parking can be found easily on the side of the building. Cashiers and employees walking around the store are rude and have an attitude that is unwelcoming. You can't ask them a question on where to find an item or if they have it in stock because they don't care and will give you attitude and a look of they don't care. Don't bother going to this location, it's unfortunate this store doesn't care to coach their employees. You'd think they'd care about customer service especially in this day and age where you have Amazon and several other stores to buy from. DO NOT COME HERE FOR CUSTOM MATTING. I brought in a sizable piece of black matte board, after speaking to someone on the phone saying that they could work a price out for me to cut out a custom measurement. The size of the board was a good 2' by 5', i gave him the measurements, and thinking i could salvage whatever was left he came back with two trips of matte that could not be used for anything. I think he cut the matte in the center of the board instead of flushing it to a corner You can imagine my frustration because their boards are not cheap. So instead of getting two mattes i get one matte (13"x18") So now i to buy a brand new one! Thanks michaels!!! DO NOT GET HELP FROM IRVING IN THE FRAMING DEPARTMENT. Worst customer service read more

I mean...Michaels. If you buy something here without checking online for a coupon first, you may, in fact, be a fool. But a fool and his money are soon parted, or some BS like that. Stuff here seems well organized and pretty much where it should be. I've always been able to find what I wanted. Prices are decent when there's a sale, but if there's no sale going down, make sure you check prices on Amazon or something first, unless you've got some crafting emergency and you need your foam shapes and glitter ASAP. I went today to get a woodburning kit thing (I know, so random) and there were two different ones to choose from, which was chill. I picked the one I wanted and headed to the checkout. For some reason the line was super freaking long. Since I already planned on going to World Market I just put my item down and left. Came back about 15 minutes later and my stuff was right where I left it and the line was way shorter. NICE! Figured out why the line was long: the cashier, while super duper friendly, was super chatty. In her defense, Michaels seems to employ people that other stores may pass on, so kudos to them for giving jobs to those who are without. And I got out of there in a timely fashion, I just didn't really need to know that my cashier's boyfriend loves Panda Express although she does not (personally, I don't mind a lil' Panda Express every once in a while). Just think of how gorgeous the pearly gates could be with extra bling bling hot glued to the fence. Oh vey, the possibilities are endless. But seriously, this corporate store always has point on trends, sale items, classes, demonstrations for the newbies, vast quantities on selection at various price points. Just be warned, once you go. The Michael's craft project vortex curse will suck you in. Bring a buddy to help talk you down or be prepared to have a dozen running to do things all the time.
