On 01-15-2024, I was shopping in the Michaels store located in Dublin CA. I was there specifically to use a "30% off entire purchase" coupon that I had and that was expiring on that day. I made the trip to Dublin from Tracy because the Tracy store no longer had in stock the yarn I was using for a blanket I was making and I needed additional skeins for it. I found a few skeins of what I needed but not the entire amount. I went up to the register to purchase these items and was assisted by a very nice young man named Erin. I presented my coupon and he scanned it along with the four skeins I was purchasing. He informed me that the coupon was not working because the yarn I was purchasing was now "buy one, get one 50% off". This of course was not as good as the 30% off entire purchase. I pointed out that the coupon specifically said it was valid through the 15th and that I just used it the day prior at the Michaels in Tracy. He called the manager on duty, "DJ", on the radio and explained the situation to him. It became apparent that "DJ" was not coming up to the register to speak with me like a professional manager would. I could not hear what DJ was saying, however, it was obvious to me that Erin was being left to handle the "disgruntled customer" himself and that I was being blown off by this manager. Even another employee who heard the radio transmission came up to the register to see if he could assist, but DJ was apparently too busy and did not have the customer service skills needed for the job like Erin did. In my opinion, Erin had better skills than DJ did and made me feel like a valued customer. Shame on you DJ, Michaels should reevaluate their decision to make you a manager, if you don't want to do the job, get out of the business! This Michaels seems way smaller than the rest of the ones i've visited but I was able to find what I needed. I came here today to try to find a grey acrylic paint that they didn't have at the Emeryville location and I found what I needed thankfully. They seemed to be fully stocked in the canvas, paints and organizational areas, which made this long trip to Dublin worth while. The only downside to this Michaels is that everyone in line was waiting about 20 minutes and that was just ridiculous. There seemed to be poor communication among the team members and 1 of the cashiers wasn't really alert at what she was doing making her line that I happen to be in slightly annoying. In a nutshell I got what I needed and found everything at a decent price so that's what counts. read more

If you have lots of time to spend wandering aimlessly in an unorganized store where staff can never be found, cashier lines are always long, and prices are not clearly marked, then go to Michael's in Dublin. They also do inventory during store hours, so there are boxes stacked in every aisle and packing materials scattered on the floor. In addition to this making the store messy and harder to shop, I think it makes the store dangerous for little ones to walk around as there are things to slip on and trip over all around the store. This is such a disappointment as my kids love arts and crafts, so they enjoy going here. Prices are medium to high. I think they price it that way because there are 25% and 40% Off coupons in circulars every week, so I suggest that you only come when you have a coupon. Look online and in the papers before stopping by, otherwise you'll be overpaying. The star goes to the cashiers who have been kind, even in the busy times. This is a review regarding an online order I had placed online to be delivered to this store. I ordered two large shadow box frames online and had them delivered to this store. It took a while to for them to locate my package. I had called earlier in the day to confirm my package was there, and they said it was, but I believe my package was located in a different section, or something like that. Anyways, eventually they located it, and they carried them to my car, which I parked in the front. As the employee moved it into my car, I heard a weird noise, like stuff moving around in there. Since I order two large shadow box frames, I didn't think I should hear any moving around in there, but I thought maybe it was just some small accessory pieces (like maybe something to mount the frame), so I drove off. As I drove off, I heard the noise clearer, and it sounded like glass shards shifting at the bottom of the package. Naturally, I got paranoid that one of the shadow box frames broke, because it wouldn't be the most surprising thing for a large frame like that to break. Still being close to the store, I turned around and brought it to the front. They still remembered me, and I told them my situation, so we opened up the package. Sure enough, my suspicions were correct. One of the frames had totally shattered. The employee who helped bring the package to my car quickly ran to the back to get a replacement frame, which they had in stock. So I was able to get my broken frame replaced with a brand new frame. I just want to say that the service was excellent and they were totally understanding about my situation. I believe the package had been damaged even before being delivered to the store. I mean, two large shadow box frames rolling around in a flimsy box, only protected by a single layer of bubble wrap. Definitely prone to damage! So it was really awesome that this store was able to replace my broken frame with no problems! read more

This is the worst customer service I have seen. When I asked about why I was not charged the sale price on the 3 t-shirts. I bought a few days ago, the woman told me that you have to check the bar codes. They had a big sign saying that this brand was 3 for $10. She never even try to get someone to check on this, I do not intend to shop here anymore. I feel like telling the lady that is not my job. I usually love michaels. But, I went in on 3/8/21 and got some yarn. Came home and started using one spool to find that it had been cut/ ripped/ etc. and just tied back together. This is something I didn't notice in the store because it was perfectly wound and all the strings were tucked in. It was pristine and not tampered with. A good place to go for kids school project stuff. They have a wide variety of stuff but few staff to help you find it - so you have to be a good forager. The prices are not that great but they are ok most stuff that you may need. I remember one time several years ago my family bought a frame from here but never ended up using it, the tag was still attached and everything. I returned it years later and the employee working at the time still honored it! WOW! I came back with my mom yesterday since she was looking for matting for some pictures she drew. Upon entry into the store there were several employee yet no one greeted me or asked if I needed assistance. The employees did hover over the black shoppers like police helicopters during a high speed chase. They walked passed me several times not once asking did I need assistance. When asked if I could get help finding something I was told to look somewhere, no isle number, no one walking me to the item, nothing. There were no price tags on many of the items. I found out prices at the register. Some of their inventory is okay and a lot of the items are o it of stock. Looks like they're closing down. There was a white guy cashier with black hair who instead of saying excuse me, almost rolled the cart into me and my toddler then when I looked back to see what all the ruckus was he said "I need to get into that door." So rude. This is a terrible store with a terrible atmosphere. One customer had the same exact experience and was yelling it while on the phone. Someone sent him to grab an item and for thirty minutes no one helped him. Oh yeah, if you're black and there too long, they call the cops to wait for you outside the store. I can spend hours at Michaels because it inspires me to create. On my recent visit I was feeling crafty and had an idea for my Maid of Honor and Bridesmaid gifts. I was a bit disappointed. I roamed for hours searching for what I needed or options to make something similar to what I needed and didn't find it. I also dare you to come in here with that one thing you need on your mind and not only leave with it but like 20 other things you didn't even know you needed. I get fake flowers for decorating my convention booths. For the past two years Ive come here to decorate hats for an event I attend that I still have yet to win the best hat contest. Its my year I can feel it. I buy paintable Christmas ornaments for the kiddos to paint and add to the tree. Always a family favorite. Appalling service from Diana in the frame department. I went to her counter in the frame section 2 hours before the store closed and was the only one in line. I saw her in the back and she saw me and I said "hello" twice before she came out to help me. I had a number of pictures to frame and she was huffing and puffing and saying she had to leave early because she was moving and needed to call someone else to help me and did not have time to help me. She was very impatient and abrupt with me and I will use her terrible customer service as an example of how NOT to treat a customer in the service classes I teach at my company. I wish I made my own jewelry and hand crafted iron bird cages for the garden, but I don't...so there.... However, I DID frequent this place in high school because my school was in Dublin, and it was a great place to go for fun props and dance themed gadgets. I was also in the ASB Publicity department, so we would go here a lot to buy paint, paper, and other decor we might need. This review is mainly based upon the custom framing area...I'd been shopping around for a custom framing job and Michael's not only had the best price, but the guy behind the counter was awesome and very helpful. He was really knowledgable about framing and explained all the different options. Apparently Aaron Brothers and Michael's both use the same frame distributor so their prices are almost always the same, although he said that they usually can beat their prices. Today they beat Aaron Brothers and Cheap Pete's prices by a long shot! I was able to get my photos framed and double-matted for about $40 less than an a single matte at Aaron Brother's or Cheap Pete's! I'm still not a fan of the layout of this store, but if I am in need of more custom framing I will come here first! read more

It is a large store that is organized well and kept clean and many aisles of crafts and art supplies. I was looking for zebra print stuff and they had plenty here that I was able to get. I would give this store 0 stars if I could. It's really nothing against the store itself, but a particular employee that always seems to be there when I visit the store. This lady that works at the checkout registers has very short, blonde hair (never caught her name). She just seems to have a hate for educators! The first time I went to go buy school supplies there for my classroom, I told her that I had my teacher ID card to get the 15% off my purchase for educators. However, she said that I needed to show my CTA (California's Teacher Association) card for her to honor the discount. I didn't have it on me and I even showed her that my ID was current for the school year. She refused and even gave me a nasty attitude about it. I'm not sure why I would need the CTA card to prove that I am a teacher. The second time I went there, I unfortunately had the SAME lady again. I was prepared with my CTA card this time. However, when I went up to the register, she denied me of my discount again because not all of my items were for the classroom. I have never had this issue at any other Michael's store. And their online policy says no such regulations. This lady just seems bitter all the time and maybe she had a bad experience in school. You would think that since most of the items I purchase for the classroom are out of my own pocket, she would be a little more understanding and helpful. Horrible!!! When I first entered this store, it looked like it was already going to run out of business because it's what the place looked like. Empty shelves, out of stock items, totally disorganized. I thought, I might just get some good bargains that day. Wrong. I bought this teeny-weeny bit pen holder frame that costs $12. I would have not bought it if I knew before hand, but the store is so poorly managed that even some of the items are not priced. So when we checked out, we thought it only costs $4, it costs $12. We also found out that same exact frame we bought from Walmart only costs 0.97c while it costs 4 or 5 times more here. Glad, we looked around first. read more

I rushed here after work to buy matte boards for a project. I got here at 8:30pm and they close at 9pm. They had only the large ones so I asked if there was someone available to cut it down for me in 11x14 size pieces, which they should be able to since I've had it done for me before from different locations. The guy told me they wouldn't be able to cut it for me because it's their managers call and suggested I wait for the framer to come back from his break to see if he would be able to do it anyway. It's been 15 damn minutes and he told me 15 min ago he would be back in 5 minutes. He decides to cut it for me, cool. When I get them, all the edges were fucked up - change your damn blades. Really upset with how horrible my experience went with this location. read more

This store was a sufficient before JoAnn Fabrics opened, but now I avoid Michaels if I can. I did stop by hoping for a specific easter decoration that I got here years ago. The aisles are cramped, if it's crowded it's hard to get a cart through some aisles so Iet my two year old walk (trust me, big risk if he's in a bad mood), and the single line that feeds to the registers are always long, and when I was there, there were only two cashiers. They do offer some coupons (I use their iPhone app), but there's not as many as JoAnn's. JoAnn also makes it easier for you to use competitor's coupons. read more

The cashiers are almost always either grouchy or incompetent. The only nice people are in the framing dept. Also the faux flower organizing lady worked a miracle for filling in my 7 foot tall niche with a true work of art. I'm kicking there score up to a 4 because their framing department is the SHIT! This Michael's has a good selection, which is really all I'm looking for when I step into one of these traps.. I mean arts and crafts stores. The store itself is much deeper than it is wide and so the organization and layout is a little offsetting, but you get used to it after you wonder around for 2+ hours. Sometimes messy = -1 star; it becomes frustrating to see things all over the place when you're looking for a certain embellishment in a certain size and color.
