This review is for the Fremont CA Michaels. Store 4812. I'd like to first start off saying that I have never had any issues with any of the staff there. Their staff have always been friendly and helpful and the store is clean and organized. Super easy to find what I'm looking for. Now for the reason of my review. Today, after getting off a stressful 12 hour shift on a Saturday then sitting through an hour of traffic to get to town, I stopped at Michaels at my fiancee's request. Found the early Halloween crafts she wanted and then some. When checking out I was helped by Tan. Other staff have been friendly all the other times but they do try to get you out super quick so they can keep the line from building up. Tan went the extra mile. Super friendly and great customer service. A huge relief to my stressful day. She was amazing. Michaels in Fremont Hub has horrible customer service. I waited 10 minutes for my curbside pickup and no one acknowledged me. I had to go inside and pickup my order myself. I dont know why they offer curbside if they aren't going to give me my order. It shouldn't be an option if they aren't going to fulfill it. I went in and told them that I was waiting for so long and they didn't even care. They had the audacity to ask me if I even did the online curbside thing and I did it right when I got there. Even have screenshots of it confirming on my end. It's crazy. Ill go to the Michaels in Milpitas. Remove curbside pickup if you aren't going to acknowledge the people waiting for their paid orders! Curbside pickup is supposed to be fast and convenient but don't expect that here. read more

I went in this store t I buy rattail thread and it had two different prices. Three to five different colors had a same price and I one color was $3 more. I went to the cashier who said they had recently changes their prices so she said let me check with my manager. This women comes over who is the manager, I have had a few encounters with her at the register and she has a major attitide problem.Her name is Christina. She insisted at selling the item to me at a higher price than the others just that they were different color thread. She wanted to argue with me about it. I finally said "your store is a joke" as I walked away she shouted at me and said " dont shop in out store then," This is how management treats their customers? Seriously? This is a great store for all the arts and crafts that you need. They also have seasonal decorations year round that you can make or buy. If you want photo frames they have that also and they will also frame anything you want for a price. The staff is friendly and always willing to give a hand if you need some help. Don't forget to sign up for their weekly emails for their coupons and discounts on different items. Overall, it's very relaxing to shop here. read more

Beware if you sign up for the classes offered by Michaels as there is a probability it was cancelled and no one will tell you. I was looking for some buttercream classes and found one online on Michaels website. It was for ombre buttercream cookie decorating; I was so excited I signed up. I got an email confirmation from them and it instructed me to get various tools that I would need for the class. I spent more than $30 on the supplies. We were also instructed to make sugar cookies which takes time and effor as well. In order to prepare, I also opened all the tools needed. When I came in for the class and asked where I should go, I was instructed to go into the classroom by a sales representative at the cash register, and then there was no one there. Five minutes after the class should have started I go back and the sasme cash register representative asks again and says there is no class. I was so confused so I wanted to go speak with a manager and then Alyssa came out. She told me there was no class but then she went on to go about multiple different excuses of why the class was cancelled- Michaels no longer did Wilton classes, the instructor had a family emergency and could not come, they did not get notified that anyone signed up but she saw my registration on when she manually checked. I was so confused what the real excuse was. The worst part was that she didn't even seem concerned; it was more like you're out of luck and I cannot do anything for you. I spent time to collect the materials, to bake the cookies, to get out of other obligations to come to class, and Michaels did not even have the decency to notify me that the class was cancelled. I signed up a few weeks before, so it was not like they did not have time to check. I'm appalled by the service. Please make sure that you call the store location before every class to check if it is even still on- even if you get an email confirmation saying that you are confirmed for the class. Overpriced, overly restrictive covid precautions (I'm pretty sure you can safely fit more than like 15 people in a space the size of an airplane hangar), Uber long checkout lines, not especially helpful employees (if you can find & corner one)...there's nothing I need here enough to warrant returning. Michael's is all things crafty. I enjoy this location mostly because it's newer, well stocked, and organized so shopping is a breeze. Of course, everytime I go in I have that little pep talk with myself self of whether it really pays to be so crafty but then I take home my treasures and it makes me want to go back to Michael's all over again. Sweet: *Scrapbook stickers. They have hoards and hoards of stickers. Fabulous for decorating those photo pages. *Beads. I like getting my less precious beads here. Great place for those filler beads and standard supplies. *Baskets. Always a huge selection. *Photo framing. I've had a few photos framed here and while I like the quality of their work, I must say they are a bit pricey. Pickle: The lines are always long. Why can't they have more registers open or ask the cashiers to move a little faster. It seems like I'm always waiting and waiting and waiting to pay for my supplies when I come to this Michael's (or any other Michael's for that matter). read more

EVERYDAY VALUES....not a fan! Buyer beware. Now Michael's has created another category to exclude your coupons. EVERYDAY VALUE items. Used to be just SALE items and noted Brands were excluded from coupons. Read the fine print on the coupons. Many of the store items that they think are reasonably priced already are categorized as Everyday Value. That means you can never use a coupon for these!! This has become one of my favorite places to explore and find creative ideas. The ladies that work here are always so helpful. Right now with all of the fun holiday decorating (fall, thanksgiving, halloween and christmas) there are so many good deals available. Because of that I have checked in here multiple times to add to the decor of my house. The store is very organized and stored my seasons on the right side of the store. In aisle 25 or so there is a full clearance section that i investigate on every visit. It's like a treasure hunt of sorts. Recently I took part in a free craft class and had the best time. We were provided with all of the materials ($50 worth) and just needed to buy a carving pumpkin which i did at half price. The class had a great instructor who provided direction but allowed each participate to have creative freedom. I am excited about signing up for more classes. It is worth signing up for sure. read more

I love coming to Michaels to find all my scrapbook stuff. During Christmas they have tons of deals for the kids who love art sets. Also they carry a lot of ribbons so when I need certain colors I can find them here. They also send out coupons weekly and give total discounts off the full purchase too. Tried to make a purchase with cash. According to cashier it's store policy not to accept large bills. I had a $100 bill. I understand there is a coin shortage, but not a currency shortage. Very odd. This is an arts and crafts heaven. Tons of items that helped out for the DIY parts of our wedding. There is not a ton of people on the floor when I have been there. Definitely know what one wants before entering. Make sure to signup for the coupons via email. I was able to get some 50% off ones that are not available in store. Had the WORST customer service from the scuzzy looking "manager". Of course she wouldn't be wearing a name tag, other wise I would have gotten a name. Pale Middle Aged women, dark hair and pasty skin, and was wearing some crusty red press on nails. The Halloween stuff is supposed to be 80% and wasn't ringing up that way, and she was trying to charge me full price for things that were obviously Halloween stuff. I own a bakery, sell art, have two children and run a pta as you can imagine I spent a LOT of money weekly at art supply stores. For a long time I dreaded coming to this store. Or any Michaels store honestly because I felt like the employees simply did not care. I'd even once stopped going to the union city store all together and wrote cooperate about my horrible experience. Sadly I felt that the company culture was to treat the clients as they were a burden and then only have one register open at a time for a line of 10+ guests. For a long time I only went to Michaels when the other craft stores were out of what I needed. Since coming to the hub Michaels and meeting Anu she has restored my faith in the store and the company as a whole. She's always there willing to help, smiling and recognizing of regular guests. (Yes that's a thing good people and businesses do) This is why company's like Starbucks thrive, saying hello and maybe even knowing the name of people you see daily or weekly. To make them feel happier about the shopping experience. I no longer go to the other craft stores unless completely necessary. Although the store may have some staffing issues and the rewards system does nothing for me at all Anu has been a shining light at Michaels. I can always count on her to help me get the items I need if I can't find them or just to say hello and recognize that my 6-10 Michaels trips a month do matter. How she is not a manager I do not know but she should be considered. I recently took the after shopping online review to express my gratitude for Anu and again Michaels has dropped the ball. Great place for all your crafting and party supply one stop. The onky down side here is the price. Things are not that cheap. Most def sign up for coupons and emails. Just stopped on by to this Michael's in the Fremont Hub Shopping Center because on the weekly ad, they have Ashland Pottery for 50% off, ranging from $2.99 - $9.99! It turns out they were actually 70% off!! As we browsed around the store, we didn't initially find any. Then, I found an employee and showed them the ad product via my smartphone and the friendly employee took me to the exact aisle where the Ashland Pottery was. she told us, that whatevers left in this aisle is everything that they had left. We continued to browse, now that specific aisle and found out the next aisle had more of these Ashland Pottery and even more stuff related on sale. Some of the pottery didn't have a price, but we found another friendly employee who helped us find the prices for each one. There were some pretty good buys. We found a whole cart full of potteries that we liked and filled our cart full. The picture I posted, were some products that we thought of buying, but decided not to. I didn't take a picture of everything we bought though. We proceeded to the register and there was only 1 customer being helped so we waited. The cashier, was a young guy who was pretty nice. He scanned our items and had to ask another cashier for the price of these pots. A nearby employee, said to just scan the same items because they were similar and all 70% off. We got a lot of various different pots for $2.99, $3.49, $4.49, $5.99! Plus, with 15% off coupon via their text rewards program, we got an additional 15% off!!! Customer Service here was fantastic! all 3 employees we encountered today were extremely helpful and kind. Great customer service today :) Just a note, though we bought a cart full of stuff, we had to go in the parking lot and grab a Bed Bath & Beyond Shopping Cart because Michael's does not allow the removal of shoppings carts from the store. I really like Michael's. I really like this Michael's...as in, it was my sole black Friday shopping stop this year. Why? ...because I can't pass up 25% off sale prices. Other reasons, irrelevant to this review include: -There aren't many places worth shopping in/near Fremont. -My sister lives in Redlands and she's the only person I know who doesn't get sick of shopping hours before me. This is a great location. It's a maze just like every other craft store I've ever been in, but it's as well organized as possible. The salespeople are friendly. Horrible customer service! They are so rude here. I don't know if it's due to under staffing and therefore everyone working is stressed out but they are so unwilling to help customers. I've been searching for a product their website says they have but wasn't on the shelves for two weeks now. They say they only stock items Monday and Tuesday and are unwilling to check the boxes in the back. Then when I call to see if they've stocked it yet they say "they have no one who can check and the product probably hasn't been put out". This location for some reason is pretty slow to put items on the same clearance level as other Michaels stores. Union City and Milpitas stores had Christmas Clearance at 70-80% whereas this location has it at 50-60%. Anyhoo, don't plan on asking for help, a majority of the staff on the floor are youngings - concerned about putting items on the shelf instead of helping you. When I was asked if I needed help, I actually stated if only there was a self-price scanner and the young lady said to me, "Does it look like I have one?!" WTF! Anyhoo, this location is all right, tons of foot traffic. Unfortunately I've been coming to this location every week to look for misc. items to DIY for my upcoming wedding...but the coupons are pretty rocking. Awful customer service. I was in there earlier, just needing some vellum sheets and some scrapbooking paper for a project I was doing. Found the scrapbooking paper easily, but I could not find the vellum nor could I find a single Michael's employee in anywhere in the ailes to help me. There was no one at the table in the floral area, and there wasn't even an employee in the framing department. All of their employees were at the register, which didn't seem to be very efficient anyway, since the lines were ridiculously long. I've never been entirely satisfied with this Michael's. It's extremely disorganized and messy. After walking around for 20 minutes trying to find the rest of my list, I gave up and headed to JoAnn's. A clean, neat, and tidy store really makes a difference. Not to mention actually paying some attention to delivering customer service. I will not be coming here again. read more

This is a really nice Michaels and one that makes me a little worried. I needed some paint and LM noticed they had Thomas the train sets here. I was estastic to know, I can now get him more by using the 40% coupon but good fork! They are the high end wooden ones. Each one of these little do-dads were twice to 3 times the plastic ones. LOL so much for saving money. :) Oh well....it makes LM smiles so that is what matters. The place is kept clean, well lit\, sweetest employees, huge store and has lots and lots of goodies. I came here to look for a frame for my recently received college diploma because I wanted to have it on the table to remind me of all the great times I had at college. Also, I got a 50% off regular price coupon in the mail. It is always fun going to this store to see all of the great items in season - this season, it is all the Halloween items being displayed. When I first ;got to the store, a sales person greeted me and asked me if I needed assistance. I told her I needed a frame for my diploma, which I bought along with me. They offered me a tape-measure to measure the diploma, and suggested several frames and matting for the diploma. I had several frames to choose from, all of which were excellent. I settled for a wooden frame and framed the diploma at the store. At the end, I paid for the frame, which only cost me $3.29, and was happy to see the diploma protected behind the glass. I even got a great compliment from the cashier for earning the diploma. I definitely will return to this store. It is bright and the service is excellent, and friendly. I can't wait for the offerings for Christmas. The location of this store is great because it is in the Fremont Hub - a local mall, which has great parking. read more

I could have sworn this location had much more employees to help all of their great customers but it looks like they are always short staffed. I actually had a few questions regarding their items they had in store but could not located any one to help me. Instead I had to read the directions and compare all the products in that row in the aisle to see which one to purchase for my project. I actually bought the wrong one and had to make another trip there to purchase the right one. Could use Rome staff on the cashiers portion too. 2.5 stars. Serious and professional artists will NOT find any of the things they are looking for, so don't bother. This place is cool if you do arts and/or crafts as a hobby just because of the variety of their selection, but it's all still pretty expensive for art supplies so bring a coupon. THIS is a nice, new Michael's... the old one at the Hub truly needed a change. It was getting run down. The new one is much more organized, and obviously, clean. I love the scrapbooking section, as well as the related paper arts stuff. I could spend a lot of money here if you just set me free.... thank goodness I only come here with a chaperone! I'd be broke and have a room full of stuff I THOUGHT I was going to use, but never do.... it's just so nice to have paper and scissors and glues galore. I went shopping yesterday here. They had awesome sales. Also they had door buster sales after 4pm. 4 of my flowers rang up wrong so the cashier had to get her Manger. Boy was the Manager a bitch.
