I went to the store to purchase some paints and they refused to help me out, the associate was very unprofessional and rude. I went to the store to purchase paint and there's a large sign in the front of the store that says please call with the phone number when I called they refused to help me out with my order so I had to cancel and go somewhere else. I'm not sure who I spoke to because they never said their name, which again is very unprofessional, but if I was manager of that store in these trying times I would NEVER refuse a sale. I can understand the low rating now. I am so annoyed/frustrated with this Michael's. I saw that these baking cups for cupcakes were on sale for $.99 so I brought it to check out and I was told it was the wrong color and that they were for big cupcakes. I went back and got the right baking cups in the right color in the right size. I waited in line again and when I went to pay for it I asked if they could check the price again and now told it was a buy one get one for 50% which totally contradicts the signage on the shelf. Eghad! Where do I start? The whole point of shopping at a chain store is so that you can get a consistent shopping experience at whichever branch you go to... not so true at Michael's of Glendale. The aisles are most always trashed and the staff is generally unpleasant and inefficient. My guess is that management is just not approaching the staff with a sense of encouragement or pride in their work - It comes across in the store. If you think I'm being harsh on the arts & craft store, take the Burbank Empire Center Michael's for example: The aisles are generally cleaner, less clustered, and their inventory seems to be better stocked and organized (See Burbank Michael's review). Living in Glendale it would be so much more convenient to just shop here, but I grimace every time I have to set foot in this place. I make an effort to drive to the one in Burbank because I love craft shopping. read more

Curbside pick up is an absolute joke. Yes we are in the middle of a pandemic but you have had weeks to get a routine for this. Everywhere else has a decent curbside pick up except you guys. Same day pick up isn't ready for a few days but they don't tell you that until you call 50 times and finally get someone to answer. I happened to stop by today because I was in the area and was very pleasantly surprised to see that the walls have been repainted, the store is well lit and there's no items thrown on the floor. This Michael's (Store# 2008) is in a good location. The Glendale ShoppingCenter, there's plenty of nearby shops and lots of parking. They have a huge selection of yarn and art supplies. The store is generally really clean and organized. The staff associates that checked me out on my last two visits were very nice young ladies one was named London and the other was named Bianca. These two young women gave excellent service and were really fast and professional and still really friendly. I always forget my coupons and the were kind enough to remind me and applied the the savings. I shop at this Michael's on a regular basis and I find them very helpful. If you need something that they are out of they will try to find it for you. The staff associates are amazing. read more

I actually had a good experience in this place. I came in to purchase some black foam core boards. I went straight to the back where they do framing. The woman in framing cut up exactly what i needed. Charged me a fair price, and seemed to be on the ball. Thank you very much. As far as the other sales people go when i was browsing no one asked me if i needed help. I imagine you're on your own when it comes to locating items in this place. I went to framing on my own. No one directed me there. They have a huge parking lot and there are other art stores and staples in the parking lot. This is a good thing, because you can get all of your shopping done in one trip. OMG WTF. I have been coming to this Michaels store for two years now and have never had an issue until today. I came to return a few packages of unopened sequins and Maribel was the cashier who was working. She literally sat there and examined the sequins for about five minutes and asked me questions like whether I had opened and re-stapled them!!! Finally, her coworker Michael happen to be at the front of the store and I straight up told him that I had never had such bad customer service and a cashier acting as if I'm committing a crime on a $1 pack of sequins. Hey girl at register 5 tonight, it's me. This review is specifically regarding the customer service I received this evening while checking out. I come in here a lot. As in, at least twice a week. I don't spend tons each time and I ALWAYS use coupons but it adds up over the year. I am a big fan of the Michaels iPhone app discounts. I usually download the latest one upon entering the store and then decide what I need most. Most of the time it is a coupon for non-sale items but as a frequent user I know sometimes it is on sale also (because that is exciting). Tonight the coupon wouldn't load and I assumed they would just be able to manually give me the (tiny) discount. The response I got after explaining was an incredibly rude "Nope, and I don't feel like trying for the little you are spending anyway." For one thing, I've been in retail almost 15 years and yes, you can do it if you try. Second, I'll be the one to decide that I don't want that small discount thanks (they add up). Third, if someone is nice to you and asking simple questions with a smile try not to stare blank faced and slack jawed at them and then answer in a way that, in my management years, I would have fired you for. Today was a pretty crappy day prior to this shopping trip. Before stopping at Michaels I stopped into Swain's Art Store half a block away. The were really nice and smiled and said thank you. It was small but it made me feel a little better about the human race. Customer service can actually do that. It can be a nice touch in someone's day. What 'register 5' could have said was 'Oh, I'm so sorry that the app isn't working for you. You know actually that coupon would only end up being for about .60 I think since this week it is full price only for the coupon. Would you like to save that for next time you come?" I don't care about the money. I don't care if I make a mistake and read the damn coupon wrong. What I do care about is someone not realizing that my purchases pay their wages and a simple kind transaction is meaningful sometimes. This is 90% a management issue, I know this from (as I mentioned) years in retail customer service/sales. Retail around the holidays can be a shitty job. It can also be a chance to make those you interact with just a little happier and take off a tiny bit of the stress in their day. Not my favorite Michael's. Though close to me, there always seems to be a long line and they only have what I go looking for about 60% of the time. I do generally love Michael's but this one doesn't take the cake. The parking lot is convenient though so that's a definite plus but the stock seems limited and the basket section is in utter disarray. It's alright, not a nightmare, but they need to have another register open at all times to accommodate the (overly shopped) area that they're covering. Everyone seems to be griping about the customer service, though I honestly haven't had much interaction (besides at the register) in regards to such. I'm writing this review not on the store itself but the employees they choose to hire. It was 15 mins before closing time I walked in to buy a frame. I asked one of the girls if the buy one get one free thing was on all the frames and if we can mix and match brands. She said 'sorry we're closing'. Excuse me?! I told her I am a paying customer and I need to buy a frame. There was still 5-10 mins left until closing time. She told me she doesn't know and decided to page one of the girls in the front to ask. They said yes. I immediately picked up my frames and went to the register. My friend, being the curious artist she is, picked something up as I was paying and asked me to look at it. The girl at the register rudely told us that they're closing. We put it down and walked out with our frames. I still don't understand how A L L of the employees at Michaels could be so rude!
