I loves Michaels. They have so many crafty items. I can always find what I need when I go there and the lines aren't as crazy as other Michaels in the area. The cashiers are almost always very friendly and helpful. I returned a picture frame recently that was scuffed (I didn't notice the scuff when I bought it) and was able to trade it for the same thing no questions asked. Their coupons are awesome and so is their ribbon collection. Kind of disappointed with their Halloween decorations. Hopefully they get more stuff before then. read more

I like this location a lot. I will go out of my way to go to this location. Not sure why but it feels like home to me. Lol. Anyways, The store is usually pretty organized and the employees arenso helpful. They will go out of their way to help you when needed. Parking is never and issue since it's in a large shopping center with Target, Ulta, etc. It feels like it's bit smaller than the one in Folsom, however I prefer that since I feel like everything is not too spread apart. But, I don't know; I could be trippin. Haha. Overall, I've never had a bad experience at this Michaels and I will continue to go out of my way to just shop at this location. I'm a habitual crafter. When I was studying for board exams and had no free time, I was in Michael's withdrawl. This particular store is a little tighter than the newer ones, but the service is better because it's not as busy. I've run into a few frustrating snags (yes, pun intended) where the specific yarn I needed to complete a project was gone, but that could happen anywhere. I come to Michael's every now and then for random art projects (usually I just need to get felt.) However, I make t-shirts a lot for events and am always pleased with the deals they have on their shirts (2 for 5, 3 or 10, etc). The store also always has coupons and if you get the app it gets updated pretty often. They are usually well-staffed and there is always someone walking around to help you. I only wish they had a fabric section because I like buying my felt by the yard, not by the sheet. read more

The hubs and I went here last night for some Christmas decorations and we were delighted to see they had a 50% off sale going on for their Christmas items. Woo hoo! That usually doesn't happen in stores until AFTER Christmas. We were looking for some Christmas ribbon that we couldn't find and asked an employee that worked there. She was extremely nice and helpful and showed us what we were looking for. On the few occasions I've been to Michael's, I've noticed how helpful and pleasant their employees always are -- not only are they always willing to help you but they do it with a smile, too. Michael's, in general, is a pretty cool store. Stuff you would pay much more for at places like Target and Walmart are super affordable here and you have way more variety, too, since they specialize in arts and crafts. We got our Christmas ribbon for about $3/each, which was a steal, along with a nicely sized stocking for $2! If you have a craft idea in mind or just want some cool items to spruce up your home with, this is the place for you! read more

Went there the other day and I'm actually very disappointed with this location. There were boxes on the floor from restocking just left everywhere. Not to mention the bathrooms are horrifyingly disgusting. I didn't feel safe using them even WITH a toilet cover paper. Please someone do something about this, it is a serious issue. Cleanliness is very important. If people go to use the bathroom but the bathroom is very very dirty and then continue shopping it spreads germs. read more

I was at Michaels in Rancho Cordova on Sunday. Thought I would avoid the lines, but instead everyone else in the world had my same idea. Because I had a tournament to get back to, I tried to ask if I can cut in line. The lady next to me was kind, but the one right in front of her was a little grumpy. Its all good because a few minutes later a new lane open up and I got to the be the second person in line. The lady behind me gave me a coupon. I usually go to this location on my lunch break because it's close by. Every time I come here, the cashier short hair red head Caucasian women always gives me attitude or isn't willing to help. I'm not sure if it's against minorities but, I saw another review that had the same issue so it is not just me! I come in hoping her attitude and customer service changes but, apparently it doesn't. However, the manager of the store is a very sweet man who is always helpful when I come in. I had my phone out with my rewards bar code and the lady WITHOUT LOOKING ST MY PHONE quickly said "we don't accept coupons with cricut products." I had to inform her that "well if you had looked, it's my rewards barcode that YOU told me to had out last time I came in." I usually go to purchase their cricut products. This location is the first location that did not price match with their online price. The cricut iron on was coming out as $12 online but, in store was $21. I showed the short hair red head lady and she says "too bad we don't price match." read more

I was looking for vases that my daughter needs for her wedding. I knew what I wanted & I couldn't find it. I noticed that an Associate was helping another customer. She was on the phone calling another store to see if an item was available. While she was on hold, I asked her if they had the vases I was looking for. She told me where to look for it but I didn't find it. I asked her to check the other store if they had any & she did. Abigail helped both the other customer & I and went above and beyond to help us. Vicki was my cashier, she was very sweet and helpful. A lady named I think Tracy (she has a tattoo on her neck) was so rude. I honestly couldn't believe how rude she was to Vickie right in front of a customer. Not to mention she had to of been a manager because she was handling the cash in the registers. I know everyone has bad days but that doesn't give you a right to be rude to people especially someone like Vickie who is just trying to do her job the best she can. read more

My grandmother and myself always shop here for her arts and crafts. She found something for me to make and it looked like it would be fun, and so I bought the beads, and a silver cross. The beads didn't fit what I was trying to make and the cross didn't fit neither. I had the package it was in, with the bar code, but it was open. I couldn't assemble it with the package. I also had my receipt. When I tried to return the items, not damaged, they were still new but not in the package, they would not give me a refund. Unbelieveable. Custom Framing is a ripoff! Read this job description before you go to Michael's frame shop: "Michaels is always accepting applications for Framing Managers! The Framing Manager is enthusiastic and passionate about Creativity, People and Arts and Crafts. The Framing Manager focuses primarily the execution of Michaels' framing programs and proactively drives and develops framing business through customer outreach, upselling and suggestive selling. " I had a small lock of fur from my dog who I had to put down. With the 60% off sale they quoted me over $90 to frame it. So I said I would have to do it myself. They charged me $17 for a 5x7 mat and board at 60% off. When I questioned the receipt they wouldn't even discuss it. Part of the charge was $7.30 for a couple of strips of foam board I didn't even ask for. Don't use their framing shop unless you have money to burn! read more

This has been my go to craft store for years but now I can't stand to be in the store for more than a few minutes at a time. Michaels now caries a line of potpourri that smells so overwhelming it's almost unbearable. Well it is unbearable and it has ruined my shopping experience with them. I went the Birdcage store and sure enough, I could smell it well before I even got to the front door. What gives you guys????? I have worked in the professional world before. This is overpowering and just terrible to try and be in your stores now when this perfume smell permeates everything. Please lock it away!!! Or just get rid of this, it's a hazard! read more

I'm giving this store 1 star because their inventory online does not match what is in store. I ordered some Swarovski jewels that were "available" online for store pickup. I placed the order and then the next day it gets cancelled for no inventory. So I order the same thing from a different store and the same thing happens my order gets cancelled. I then call Michael's customer service and was told to call ALL of the stores that show the item in stock to see if they actually have it because the online inventory is not in real time. This was the most ridiculous response ever!! I kindly told the lady I will buy them somewhere else and hung up. The only option to get them from Michael's is to pay $5.99 to ship an item that cost $5.99 ‍. I went to Amazon and found them in stock and available to be delivered with Prime in two days. read more

I purchased four 18x24 inch fine art prints from an artist in Canada for my husband's birthday. This is his favorite artist and I wanted something very nice for his office. I was looking to have them framed with a budget of a $100.00 per painting, having already spent $350.00 on the art itself. They shipped these items to me in perfect condition. The prints went right from the post office to the framer. After shopping around a bit I came back to Michael's because they are close to my house, and because Charlotte who had helped me 'get an idea' of pricing was very nice. The colors looked beautiful, and Charlotte was very good at selecting material that went well with all the paintings, and she was mostly courteous. Even if she did get a little testy with me after I had to work backwards to bring down the price of her $1200.00 quote. I had mentioned several times that I was hoping to keep it around $100.00 each. We were able to get it down to $700.00, which was still almost double my budget. That being said, I picked up my art today and was very, very disappointed with the quality of the work. The frames where not aligned at 90 degree angles, there were many dents and dings along the face of the frame, there was dust and debris under the glass, the mats where cut with a dull razor leaving a torn edge in many places, the backing looked like it had been done by my six year old, and all of that is just a little neglect and lack of care, but the worst part was that three of the four pieces of art work where damaged in some fashion. Finger indentations from rough handling, scratches, possibly a pen mark and oil marks. I was practically in tears. The young woman who was helping me tried to blame it on my 'framing choices', but ultimately was still very sympathetic, polite and offered ideas (which would cost more money) to 'fix' the problem. Overall the service I received from both ladies was good, but I was just flabbergasted at how poorly my art was treated and how careless they are with their work. I am afraid now to do anything more, for fear it will cause further damage. Overall a very sad project and a $1000.00 later. The other annoying thing that happened which I have noticed you have to be careful of at many retailers today, is that there is an additional $9.88 on my receipt with no explanation of where it came from. The math simply does not add up. So now I need to have that addressed as well. Watch your receipts! Especially tax! read more

Small but friendly Michaels. I've always had very positive experiences here. The customer service has always been excellent. I was here trying to buy up silk flowers for my upcoming wedding and the people there were amazing. They were floored by how big the wedding was and how many flowers I needed so they ended up helping me fill up my cart with the flowers I needed. When the price dropped two days later, I was told my other Michaels stores that I needed to bring in the flowers and sort them so they could do the price adjustment (even though I had a receipt). I ended up doing that for the Natomas Michaels but when I came to Rancho, they seemed stunned that the other store made me do that. They immediately reassured me that I did not need to sort the flowers or take them out of the bag for the price adjustment and just adjusted everything right away.
