We arrived in to town after a long road trip and ordered Michaels to go. Infant, toddler, dog, husband and I walked around Railroad Park in the chilly night waiting for the food that took 45mins instead of 20-25 like they said. I still tipped 20% on our to go order spending over a hundred dollars. We took the food back to our hotel (another 20min walk) and the $20 filet bites were missing. They didn't offer to refund them. My husband had to go back and pick up the cold meat and they wouldn't even throw in a side or some pasta for my son, anything to make up for the huge inconvenience. The front desk lady was very polite and nice, I blame her manager. No customer service. Moral of the story, make sure you have your whole order in your to go order because they could care less and take no accountability. read more

Wasn't very busy due to the weather but we still had an amazing experience. Started with the Spinach Dip and an Old Fashioned. (make sure you get the pre-prohibition style). The drinks and starters were great but nothing compared to their delmonico Ribeye. Cooked perfectly, I wanted to save some for the next day but ended up finishing it all. Came here for restaurant week one weeknight. I was super excited to see that this place had opened back up downtown because it was always good in Homewood. We made a reservation and got there a few minutes early. Due to the pandemic, they are only seating on the roof. It took them so long to have us seated like they were not prepared to open for the day. They slowly took each party up one at a time and it took us over 30 minutes to get seated with a reservation. Once we finally got to our table, we ordered the restaurant week menu and the server did not take the entire order. The service was very slow throughout the meal. We got our salads and then waited for like 15 minutes before they came back to get our entree orders. The salads were fine, but nothing too special. We both decided on the Delmonico cut of steak. There was so much fat on the steak it made it less than desirable and the cooks were not what we had ordered. The garlic smashed potatoes were a little dry and lacking in flavor. We had their famous bread pudding for dessert and the portions were very small, especially when we saw some of the other plates. Pancakes were delicious but the meal says pancakes meat and Eggs and I got charged 5$ for 2 strips of bacon. Wings were good and the Steak Delmonico was good but the potatoes need help. Also, the buckling and inning of everything is just a bit ridiculous. Automatic 20% tip no matter how many is in your party. Also if eat outside food 2$ per person. Patio is 10$ just to sit on not including anything... Please rethink trying to get rich quick and concentrate on quality of all of the food offered. I took my mom and sister October 2, 2020 to check out the newest Michael's and was disappointed. We were Really hoping for a great steakhouse that I wouldn't have to go outside of my immediate area of residence. This would have been perfect if the food was worth it. The calamari was hard and tasteless. We couldn't believe it, we had better calamari from the frozen food section. I ordered the Delmonico steak and garlic mashed potatoes because they were out of baked potatoes (out of baked potatoes at 6:30? Opened at 6) Caesar salad included with entree also side of $6 mushrooms and onions. My mom and sister had shrimp and grits which they said were adequate. Our salads were very miniscule I mean it didn't fill a saucer. Like I said I ordered the Caesar but it might have had a piece of romaine and the rest was small amounts of iceberg lettuce. As long as I've been eating out Caesar salads have been romaine lettuce in my experiences. I don't know everything so I might be wrong, however you would think an upscale restaurant wouldn't offer you such a barely there salad. It was a joke. Sister and mom had regular barely there salads with barely there dressing. For $29 shrimp and grits $40 small Delmonico steak one would think salad wouldn't be so lacking, lettuce is the cheapest. Why so stingy with salad. That being said the steak tasted pretty good, would've been better if it was hot. With covid they only had roof top open so your food had to come up the elevator with saran wrap. Not a good look to see my food coming to me like that. The restaurant is beautiful and well appointed, a great atmosphere. I want it be a great steakhouse in my neighborhood so I don't have go to 280 or Hoover when I'm in the mood for a thick juicy hot steak. Hopefully it will get better because I eat out quite a bit. We received our appetizer and it was cold (the calamari) I don't understand how it could've been cold if we were the only ones there. The server told us we get a free appetizer after the fact we had already ordered the calamari (which wasn't a big deal) but that should've been something you start your greeting with. I usually have an enjoyable time at Michael's, to the point where I recommend it to others. However, last nights experience was horrible. It took an hour and 45 minutes to receive our entrees and when we got it, it was all wrong. My date never got his steak. Our server said he'd go back and check on our order, only to never return. We watched our drinks sit on the bar for nearly 15 minutes, with customers with no masks standing over them and breathing over them. People were steadily leaving because they were experiencing the same issue. I want so badly to patronize African American owned businesses, but last night left me feeling like we should have gone somewhere else. I don't know what happened to the Michael's in Homewood, but this place is not it. Should be renamed to Scammer's. Went for brunch, was charged $280 at the door, for cafeteria food. Dry beef tips and rice,, thick and pasty shrimp and grits, rubbery quiche bites and bacon and sausage that looked microwaved at best. Definitely not worth the money, not even with the unlimited mimosas, which where disgusting too. The place looked like some pop up shop, with rented tables and tablecloths. I can't believe this is what Michael's has turned into, whoever the new owner is needs to reevaluate it's business because I can't imagine it'll stay open for long like this. read more

My sister and I drove from Monroe, La for the weekend and chose this place as our dinner spot for tonight in order to support a black owned business. Firstly there is no parking for the restaurant so that's annoying because we had to walk a bit to get to the restaurant. Upon entry the ambiance is underwhelming but the staff is friendly and welcoming. They were out of the signature steer butt which was disappointing. There's nothing signature about the cocktails. Presentation is definitely lacking. Food was subpar. I had the 18-20oz ribeye and garlic Parmesan mashed potatoes and was not at all impressed. Then when we got our bill we had gratuity automatically added and it was only 2 of us. Ended up spending $200 for 2 meals and 2 drinks which is ridiculous compared to what we ate.
