It's hectic to get into the shopping center since there is really only one way in and one way out. Once you get to michaels is worth it. This store is nice and big without feeling too cramped. I was like a kid in the candy store with tons of crafts to pick from. In this trip I got one of those craft caddy's, I was excited that I finally have a nice sturdy cart that I can easily move from room to room. The only downside is that since it's an everyday deal no coupons are allowed. Even with that it didn't stop me from skipping to the car. The cashier that rang me up was nice it had started to rain and I was in heels. She actually let me take out one of the shopping carts so that I wouldn't have to struggle too much. What I would change about this store is the a/c whenever I come in it always feels like it's hot or muggy. read more

Kinda torn. One time I came, the cashier was so nice and I had a great experience. This time I came and the cashier sounded like she hated her job and had to go through the greeting formalities. Also she didn't ask me if I wanted a bag for my basketful of items. To top it off as I was leaving, she said "don't forget to put away your basket." I've never been asked to do that before at any market or store. That's like asking a patron to wash their dishes after they finish a meal at a restaurant. The store is nice but you should probably retrain your weaker employees on better customer service. There's a reason your store is rated so low at this location. One great employee can't make up a store full of bad ones. read more

Trash ass management now? Who's the manager now? Whoever it is now doesn't know how to run the store. I used to go there all the time, but recently it's been so disorganized. I walked around the store 4 times looking for someone to help me and no one was in site. The only person that made my whole experience better was the girl who checked me out. She helped me find something that I was looking for without leaving her station. She had a great attitude and even gave me coupons! Probably won't be coming back anymore. I recommend everyone go to the off Arden... read more

I was in this store last Friday with my two children, getting some help from an employee who was being very kind and helpful, when I suddenly heard my 3 year old say,"mommy, I pooped my panties." There was poop everywhere. All over the floor, in her shoes, down her legs, all over her dress. I'd given her mangos the day before, not realizing the effect it would have on her system. The associate immediately called for a mop and paper towels, never once reacted negatively, and was very kind and encouraging towards me and my daughter. Any person could have taken that moment to show their absolute disgust for a mess like that, and I wanted to fall through the floor, I was mortified to death. Another female associate came on scene, and they both boxed in the area and we tried to block other customers. They both looked a little scared, like "who is cleaning this up?" haha. I was like,"just so we're clear, this is my kid's mess, and you're not cleaning it up!" They were really grateful, offered me gloves, and we began to laugh at the whole situation. (By the way, parents, if your child poops all over the floor, does it make it LESS your job to clean because of locality?! NO! That is in YOUR job description, NOT theirs. good grief!) For the life of me, I cannot remember their names, but they will know who they are. One pushed my cart with my son in it to the bathroom (while I carried my poopy child), while the other stayed behind to sanitize the floor. They spoke kind words and showed compassion for us. I haven't been treated so well like this anywhere that I have ever gone. They were discreet, and made me feel like this type of thing happens all the time, and they know the drill. I don't know who you are, but you turned an otherwise absolutely humiliating experience into a really funny memory already, and I will be telling everyone to shop there because the customer service there is phenomenal. Someone give these people a raise, or something!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. read more

Michaels is something of a necessary evil for me. Kinda like the dentist, except I can't slip out of work and use paid time off to cover my travails into this craft-supply superchain. And there's no novocaine to blunt the aggravation of scrapbookers. So, yes, I am guilty of LOVING die-cut sticker letters, rosettes, sequins, and other scrapbooking/mixed media-art provisions. Leave me be about that. It's the clientele I have to manuever around that fill my trips here with overwhelming dread: the homeschool moms carting around a half-dozen squealing kids pulling every peg out of the wall, the fourth-year community college "artists" with their black-rimmed glasses that you know they don't need, the bird ladies with their lesion-covered pannus peeking out from a magenta crew neck sweatshirt... But all of these irritants don't compare to the customer service one can expect NOT to receive. I've just learned not to ask where to locate an item; such an inquiry, if enunciated loudly to a sales associate with a hand gesture thrown in to better your odds of being heard, will inevitably be met with a deep sigh. More likely scenario: you will be ignored. Michaels staff is too busy pushing rolling racks and splitting hairs over break times to assist customers. read more

I wanted to make a GIANT sword... The likes of which has never been wielded by another Asian guy dressed up as an anime character wielding an over sized weapon that would be far too unrealistic to even be considered a threat unless your an overly uptight peace officer who's parents never let him play with swords as a child and grew up to become a peace officer so you can carry a gun and shatter the dreams of an Asian guy dressed up as an anime character wielding an over sized weapon that would be far too unrealistic to even be considered a threat..... Hater! Upon calculating the cost and my in ability to wield such a monstrosity, I decided to go with a slightly less heavy and *lethal* alternative. I came to Michael's for some specialty paints to bring some life to the physical embodiment of my ego. It was also pleasant going up and down the aisles thinking of different things I could make with the all crafts they had to offer. I even stumbled upon a gauze like material I could use to fashion a realistic cast in the even I needed to play the injured and defenseless card if I ever needed an elaborate excuse to get time off of work. The store seemed a bit small for an Arts and Crafts store, but they had a large variety of crap. The employees were not very helpful, but I can't really rely on them like I would expect an employee from Home Depot to understand the aisle they were in. The location was a poor choice, simply because the lay out of the entire shopping center is full of epic fail. read more

Sometimes, I like to pretend that I am a very talented, creative, and thoughtful person. Whether or not that is true is not the point. Micheals is my go-to spot for those times when I'm trying to prove how awesome I can be. Christmas is definatley a time to show people your best attempt at creativity and thoughtfulness, so I went into Micheals with some inspired ideas in my head and a prayer to make it out alive. (Chistmas season mind you) Along the way of getting exactly what I wanted, I also found some really great marked down items as well. Micheals always has those bins up front that have little initial note cards and other trinkets that are great stalking stuffers (or party favors) for cheap cheap. Sometimes when I go in there, I think of even more awesome ways to present a gift or inhance it. Whether its making my own card, picture frame or just buying a cute, hot pink, zebra print, Chinese takeout box to put a gift in, Micheals really does have neat things to make me look even cooler. My two complaints are the service and the price. Never once have I been greeted or asked if I was finding everything okay. And when I do need some help or have a question to ask, I feel like I'm embarking on an increadible hunt for an employee. The price on regular things, such as paint, ribbon, paper, and posterboard can be found much cheaper at Wal*Mart. So when I want to do some one stop, craft shopping, it can get annoying thinking of how much Im overspending. Overall, making a gift is always best when it comes from the heart. Micheals makes that possible and quite easy with the variety of arts and craft supplies available. And yes, my gifts came out making me look pretty darn good. read more

Staff here don't seem to know much about the products offered at this store. They couldn't answer any of my questions and were quick to just point to an aisle just to get rid of me. The product selection is a bit limited as well. read more

Terrible, terrible shopping experience here. The products are great and there is a good selection. This is also in a good location with restaurants and stores. Those are the only good things. I had to wait in line over 15 minutes and it wasn't a long line. It was really annoying. There were two cashiers and they just couldn't move very quickly. It seems like they should have called in some help. When I finally checked out, I had a 50% off coupon and a 60% off coupon. I wanted to use the 60% off coupon, but she had already scanned the 50% off coupon (they were both on the same sheet). When I told her I had wanted to use the 60% off coupon, she said it was too late. Seriously, poor customer service, poor experience. read more

A bit disorganized at times, but it has everything a crafty person needs. The parking lot is a bit of a logistical challenge sometimes, so come armed with patience. I came to Michael's on the way home from work the other night needing to pick up some fine tip ink pens, sketching and tracing paper. I found them pretty easily and reasonably priced. I do find myself getting easily distracted by the bins in the middle of the main aisles and usually find some lil' knick-knack or other that I can't live without. Ahh, one person working the register seems to be the main theme here while you usually spy another associate stocking some bins. I did notice (what I assumed was the store manager) tell the person working the register to call for another associate to come to the register. With 2 people in front of me and the line growing in back of me, no one showed up. I kind of wondered why the other person didn't just get on a register herself. Oh well. read more

I bought a frame for a project a couple weeks ago and had it sitting in my garage. I'm not sure if it was just the changes in heat or what, but when I went to pick up the frame and move it yesterday, the glass just shattered right in my hands. I called to see what their return policy was, not sure if I could even do an exchange since I guess it wasn't technically their fault, and Jessica in Framing told me I could do an exchange. I came in during my lunch break today and found Jessica. I proceeded to make life difficult by not having my receipt and by asking if I could exchange for a more expensive frame and pay the difference, and she was very helpful and patient with me the whole time. She also told me about some coupons I could use right before the transaction which saved me almost $20. I'm very happy with the service I received as well as the new frame and mats I purchased. I'll definitely be back again! read more

Alright, so is this just a really busy Michaels or a very badly stocked one? I couldn't find anything I needed. Sure there were things I wanted. But, they didn't have anything I needed to make my gifts for my friends. This store is just a mess and it feels so crammed and cluttered. There was even this "nice" sales lady, but she was too busy stocking shelves. People were trying to look for help, but there was no one. And, the service lady as she was stocking was blocking a whole area that I wanted to go into to look for stuff. She can't even move? I was looking at the stuff and she even saw me. Come on, lady! read more

This Michaels is not my usual one to shop at but I was already in the area. Either the layout of the store was confusing or it just wasn't what I'm used to, because I am a fairly adept adult and still could not find the dang ribbon aisle. It took me 3 laps around the store before I found in wedged in the back. Yeesh. Plus I don't usually shop at any store in that shopping center, because do not get me started about trying to drive in and out of there. I will say I liked this Michael's "dollar"/cheap stuff aisle- it was very well organized and seemed to have better stuff than other locations. Plus all the staff were friendly. I found everything I went in for (after I was able to locate it!) Tip: for those of you who don't live near a Michaels and thus do not get the coupon mailers, you can download the Michael's app onto your smart phone and get your discounts that way. read more

For not being a craft person, I sure am spending a lot of time in here lately. Two things: 1. Other than Ace, it's the only place I can always find lamp oil for refillable candles. 2. Last few weeks, there's been either a 40 or 50% off coupon in the paper for any one item. Takes said lamp oil down to less than $4. As it stands, think I've got enough to make my ONE old-fashioned candle stay lit through 2025. read more

I came here because my husband sent me in to find a monkey whined up toy. I asked a young clerk about it, and she looked at me like I was crazy. To shoo me away, she sent me to aisle 28 --- no monkeys. I found another worker and she actually HELPED ME and LEAD ME to aisle 30 where the monkey toys lived. When I went to pay for them, the first girl who "helped" me had to ring me up because she was the only cashier available. She noticed the toys didn't have a tag. She wore a headset but decided not to use it to call one of her co-workers to see how much the toys were. She took the "initiative" to find the price. She had no sense of urgency, she just strolled to aisle 30 and came back to the counter. She noticed one of the monkeys were broken and was like, "Oh, it's broken" I said to her, "It's cool, I just need the motor, it's not a big deal." And she goes, "Oh..." Could I punch you? read more

My problem with this store is that they have great crafting supplies but there is completely nonexistent customer service. The floor guy sold me the wrong product and nearly ruined a $200 project. Called the store and talked to the assist manager (sierra) and she didn't even apologize. When I asked why she didn't even apologize, she just said, "I'm sorry you feel that way." I gave her a chance to make it right and she said she couldn't (read here "wouldn't). The store manager also said too bad. I called the watt and el camino michaels and the manager personally delivered the product to the store for me! Apparently, some Michael's managers get it and some don't! read more

The staff at best hates their job. They aren't friendly. I'm sure partly because the store is ALWAYS in disarray and who can work in that! I was impulse buying an item because it was marked 40% off with 5 signs all around the merchandise. At the register they told me it's not on sale. We went back to the item and saw all the signs but she and then the manger still said no. This Michael's has very poor ethics and they have lost my business. read more

I am guilty of shopping at Michaels way too often but I'm new to the city and I still don't know about all the cool crafty places. I bought a bunch of felt and embroidery floss for cheap. They have a huge selection of embroidery floss colours and a medium good selection of felt. I can't believe I'm 27 and using felt for crafts. I also needed ONE or two cool buttons but they only had buttons sold in packs of a million. Michaels - I love you and I hate you. read more

I came here looking for two things. I couldn't find hem tape.. Looked everywhere, double checked every aisle.. tried to find help and saw a girl walking into the back room so I dilly dallied hoping she'd appear. She never came back out and I never found any employees out and about the store floor. So I gave up, but found some cheap knitting needles and headed up front. There was one gent on a register and a line six people long. We had to be somewhere, so I didn't bother asking about the hem tape.. I understand that sales are slow for everyone, but c'mon two people working the entire store? I don't think this store is very easy to shop in and I wasn't particularly fond of the customer service this particular night. read more

Horrible service. The sales lady acted like she was trying to avoid me when I tried asking her for help locating something. And instead of taking me to the area, she said "All we have is up there in that section." I said, "Yes I tried looking for it there and didn't see anything." She then said, "then we don't have it." The place was also very disorganized and cluttery. read more

Manager needs to take a few classes on communication and customer service. Very rude and unprofessional.

Terrible customer service. This is the 3rd time I come with my mom to this store, everytime we walk in there we expect better costumer service or at least something different but we always get this guy name Jeson as cashier. We are big shoppers so he thinks it's funny to always laugh and complain about our shopping. I understand we all have long shifts but that doesn't excuse the lack of costumer service and it's kind of embarrassing being laughed at. Never coming again, I suggest people to go else where. read more

My package was sent here and they can't even deliver it yet they offer delivery. Incompetent lazy service.

I figured that all Michael's would be similar considering it's a corporate chain. This Michael's is definitely on the lower side that I've seen. I find myself at Michael's stores in general because my wife VERY often frequents their baking section. So though I rarely buy anything myself, I consider myself an above-average rater of Michael's stores. Their customer service is pretty standard. I asked people on the floor for directions, and they pointed me in the right direction (I consider walking me there to be the best option). The main complaint I have with this particular location is the ambiance. The store is dirty. The flower section has fake petals and broken stems littering the floor like detached limbs on a battlefield. Items are often misplaced on the shelves or disorganized like lost children in a supermarket. I almost pity this location for being so substandard. I've been to this location several times, and this is consistently a problem. But that's the issue. This is the closest Michael's to my house. I have to use this particular location out of necessity. So while my review acknowledges that this store has a monopoly on the Natomas area, I still don't have to like it. Would I go back? Begrudgingly. I'd only go back because there isn't a closer Michael's. Is it really that hard to organize your items and keep the floor clean? read more

I definitely prefer shopping at locally-owned places rather than chains, but who can resist a half off sale on a huge selection of merchandise? I'm teetering between two and three stars on this one. I've shopped at Michaels off and on for a long time and like many stores, the locations are not created equal. The Michaels near Galleria in Roseville is a nicer experience in my opinion. I went in here because they were having a huge sale on bead/jewelry-making stuff, and I wanted to size up their collection and prices compared to some of the other shops in the area. Thinking that Michaels is the arts and crafts version of a big box store, I thought their pricing and selection would be competitive. What surprised me was that even with a 50% discount, the beads still cost more than a couple of the smaller, non-franchise bead shops in the area. Also, the entire store had a ransacked look about it, some merchandise was hard to find, and some of the price tags weren't accurate. I still give this location a three-star rating because the cashier was friendly and helpful, and because I will likely return to this Michaels for specific items. Also, their selection (at least in the jewelry/bead department) was huge. read more

I shop at Michael's regularly but this Natomas location has some of the WORST customer service in management. The I shop at this one is because it is larger than the Elk Grove store and has much more stock. They had a sale on Siser HTV. Sign in the store said "$9.99 except mega rolls". I picked up several rolls (non of them "mega") but 2 rang up normal price. The cashier was pleasant and didn't understand why they rang up that way, so she got a manager, Desiree (that's what she said her name was). She was very rude. She decided it was because they were glitter (not true) and told me that "it's commons sense why they were not included in the sale" Yes, she said that verbatim. I said "ma'am, I'm just a customer spending my money in your store, you didn't have to be mean. She said "well, if you feel like I was being mean... I said thank you and walk off. While on the way to the line, another customer asked her for a price. I didn't hear what she said to the customer, but the customer replied to her "sorry, I just asked for a price." read more

With 40 and 50%-off coupons always arriving in my email, it's hard NOT to see what's up at Michael's :) I'm not really a "craft" person, but they have really cute holiday items, especially for Halloween and Christmas. It's fun to go and peruse what they have to offer every now and again. read more

I come to this place way too often for my own good. This place compels me like vampires compel people before they do their dirty work or eat them for lunch but whatever. I'm a crafty like person. I make my homemade invitations for small and big parties alike. I do the same for family and friends. This place isn't that easy to roam around in especially if you are dead set in what you need. Plus, don't hold your breath in finding help. Some people are just there to socialize with one another, they hate their job, they need their job because the economy sucks, or they are just there to stock the shelves which is what I run into all the time. This isn't the cleanest of stores since they are always moving stuff around for each season or holiday. You can bet your bottom dollar that you can find any type of knick knack known to man that you may or may not need. Believe me, there are dollar "spots" around the store and if you have kids, they will find it and compel you like the store compels me to continue to have repeat business. In addition to scrapbooking, they have fake flowers, wedding invitations especially made for Michales, foam crafts, framing (which is pretty expensive coming from someone who used to work at a framing place many many moons ago while in college), and cake decorating stuff, amongst other things. I'm thinking I might try my hand at the whole cake decorating thing and they have most of what I need except for the edible ink pens I need for my new adventure. Oh well. Maybe they'll have it some other day that I go after work. Oh, and other thing that may attract you to keep coming back is the fact that they have coupons on stuff that are like 40% or 50% off a regular priced item and/or they have HUGE sales. I'm waiting for this weekend's sale and I'm in agony trying to have some patience. Prices are relatively reasonable but customer service definitely needs some help. And another thing, who does their scheduling? Come on managers, you need to be on staff. You are a retail chain store after all. Sales associates aren't hired to save your behind should something go wrong. Schedule more people or have better training. With that said, I keep coming back! read more

Michael's...Michael's - where do I start? Thank you for always mailing and emailing me coupons to take advantage of all things creative and fabulous to make my home, jewelry business, and holiday entertaining AMAZING!! Selection is usually good on any and everything I need - be it table bling, unique ribbons, holiday decor, or cookie cutters! I have taken on many new crafts and expanded my baking skills thanks to the friendly and helpful staff at this location as well as the bountiful ideas you find at most end caps!! This store is dangerous for a crafter or foodie on a budget- but the coupons, as I mentioned, always help!! The only reason I am not giving five stars is because I think they could improve on the wait time for checkout... often the wait is too long for the number of staff I see on the floor...and because price adjustments are only valid for SEVEN days... Oh and I almost forgot - holiday clearance - any holiday - Michael's can't be beat for unique and creative items!! read more

2 stars only because the location is close to my house. Customer service is horrible here and not many of the employees actually seem to know the products. Also hate that they close at 7pm on Sunday and they literally follow you around at 6:45pm telling you better make it to the register before closing or they will not check you out. I totally understand that they have closing task but it's pushy. I heard the call at quarter till thanks.
