I had a good experience at Michaels today. I found what we needed for our craft today. Gathered everything and went to pay. There were only a couple of people ahead of us. But there were three cashiers! We were in and out of Michaels in 15 minutes! I read the other reviews and for the most part, I agree with the other shoppers. It gets really crowded at this location. They tend to get understaffed when you are looking for that really important item. But they have almost everything possible for your craft. Employees are ok. I haven't had any bad experiences yet. This was definitely a really disappointing experience. I ordered online using curbside pick-up due to Covid-19. When I arrived at the store and called the number provided via email, they informed me that they "do not encourage curbside pick up" and that I would need to go into the store to pick up my purchases. This totally defeats the purpose of ordering curbside pick up in the first place. I only ordered from this store because they were out of the item that I needed at a different location, which DID provide curbside pick ups as advertised. I had a great experience at the other location that I decided to order curbside pick up from this location too. If I knew this was the case, it would have been faster for me to go in the store, find the item, pay and leave than to stand around waiting for someone to help me and find my order. For some reason, this Michaels seems understaffed most of the time and not many visitors come. I actually have a Michaels near me but I was here so I thought I look through their stencils to find a gift for my friend for her birthday. I knew that I had seen the stencils at the Michaels near my house, however this location literally had two variations and none of the variety and selection as the other Michaels. Later on, I happened to visit the Michaels near Eastridge Mall on Tully road with a friend and did not experience the lack of selection at all. although three stores is hardly a good comparison of "all the Michaels" in the area, it's a pretty good idea that this Michael's is just not as stocked as the others? This place is unbelievable! I have been here 4 times in 2 days, because the line is ridiculously long, I live close and I don't have an hour to waste. For years there has been a line at the Westgate store. Lately, there is only one very friendly cashier, talking away, while slooowly ringing up the customers. It seems she is unable to do both at once, and certainly is not paying attention to the number of people patiently waiting and not so patient (like me) COME ON Michael's, you can do better! "Meh. I've experienced better" is exactly how I feel. Like all the other reviews mention, the lines at this store can get pretty ridiculous. They start off with one register, then slowly get another employee on board, then by the time the line wraps around back to the front of the store; you're lucky to have three people on the registers. This store is completely understaffed and lacks any real cohesive flow to the store. Looking for holiday stuff, go to the right. Wait there's more holiday stuff to the left?! I guess they want you to go through the whole store so they scatter things around. Like a mouse in a maze... This store is right across from where I live so I have no choice but to go here. If there was a Michael's nearby, I would most likely go there. The extra star is for all the coupons they have. If you don't get them in the mail, you can always find them on their website. Last night, we purchased a beautiful gold whale decor from Michael's and when we got home, we realized it was broken. I was so bummed out because it was one of those pieces that just fit perfectly in our home. I didn't think that Michael's would be able to exchange it because it could have been our fault. I always believe honesty is the best policy and let them know it could have easily been our fault. Mario, the Store Manager, gave us no problems or concerns and let us know that he feels comfortable returning it because it was just last night. We then came in and a worker named Sheila whom was at the front already knew we were coming in and sent us to the register that will able to help us. Deb whom was at the cash register was so very kind and genuine and provided us all the information to get a new gold whale decor because they did not have it in their store. Highly recommend finding another nearby Michaels to go to instead of this one. If you do go here, don't waste your time with curbside pick-up. They act like it's massively inconvenient for them to come out to your car, don't check your ID or scan the pick-up code that the email says to bring, and are rude/dismissive/condescending. No hellos, how are you, any basic human decencies. I go here because it's the closest to my house but honestly, the one on Homestead and El Camino are way nicer with better employees. I've also ordered something online here before, paid, got the confirmation email that it was ready for pick-up, and then when I arrived at the store, they didn't have it. I came here on a Wednesday morning to get some candy melts for last minute cake pops. The store was very cleaned and organized and without asking for help, I was able to quickly find what I was looking for. I also saw that they have different items than other stores in their seasonal section. It definitely pays to go to several Michaels if you can't find what you are looking for. I didn't have to wait in line and the sales rep was quick and friendly. I love that Michaels carries so many items for all of your creative needs and there is almost always a coupon online to use so be sure to pull it up on your smart phone! Having any kind of party? This is a well-stocked and neat store, but it can be challenging. Specific supplies, say pens, for example, are located in several places in the store. I did not find a product I was seeking and was about to leave when I met a clerk who directed me to another area where I did indeed find the item. It behooves a shopper to ask for help if you do not find what you are looking for. Clerks are well informed about the location of even rather obscure items. Be sure to have your phone opened to the Michael's website for the 60% off coupon! Also, it is best not to be in a hurry when shopping here. The check-out line is sometimes painfully long. The parking lot is on the Hamilton side of the Westgate mall and is shady and spacious. read more

The staff has been very helpful! I called in to check if they had a certain item in stock and even though I was on hold for ~5mins or so, they were able to find it. My only thing is that this Michaels is SO small compared to other ones I've been to. Since, it is very small it gets messy. When I have to piece together items like mirrors for table-scapes, glassware decorations, or faux flowers I usually start here. The last time I was here one of the sales people was close to off shift and not helpful at all/totally went out of his way to avoid me... we all have our off days I guess I asked him on his. I found some of the square and round mirrors I needed in addition to water balloons for the kiddos. Never order online and do pick up at store. I ordered 2 items and 2 hours later no update, no email, no contact at all even asking for updates with my phone number. So I decided to look up my order history and it said it was cancelled. So I contacted customer service to see what was going on and they told me it was cancelled because it was out of stock even though it said it was in stock and available for pick up in store. And now I have to wait for my money back even though they took my money right away. Horrible communication with customers that are willing to spend money with this company. I went to this store yesterday to buy a circle template, a very common item used by draftsmen the world over. Before I left home, I looked on the Michaels website and saw that they had eight of these in stock, but I unfortunately didn't take note of what aisle it was located on. I arrived at the store and asked the manager what aisle it was on, and she told me that they didn't sell anything like that and that I would have to go to someplace like Office Depot. I returned home and confirmed that they did indeed have it in stock, so I called the store and spoke to the manager again over the phone. I gave her the item # and she agreed that they did have it, but that it wasn't her responsibility to know everything that they sold there because they have 1000s of items in their inventory!!! I just want to leave a review for the worker TIsh or Fish who was extremely rude to my roommate over the price of floating shelves. She made a huge scene in front of multiple customers claiming we "switched" the price of the floating shelves. She then kept shouting continuously no, no, no, no, no...that's not the price! Went in here today looking for unique, professional 4x6 picture frames and was able to find exactly those, and multiple of the same style. Prices are seriously high here, more so than most other hobby stores. Would much prefer to go to Home Goods or any other similar store like the nearby Ross if looking generally for home decor. The nearby Target has cheaper options for arts and crafts supplies even. I had little conversation with staff aside from the cashier, who was very friendly and delicately wrapped each picture frame in paper. I do appreciate how Michael's carries almost every arts and crafts item you can imagine. The prices are what keeps me from going here unless there is something I know I will have trouble finding (in this case, multiple copies of professional wooden picture frames). read more

Another place I only go when a school project comes up. I assume the job description to work here goes something like this: Applicants should have the following skills *Must be able to hide/run from customers. *Should have minimal knowledge of crafting and/or the placement of material within the store. *Complete lack of point of sale experience a plus! *Rude apathetic attitude welcome and appreciated! *Persons over the age of 80 or under the age of 16 encouraged to apply. HORRIBLE experience. And her name is Teresa. I went in with my friend and her kid for some craft supplies. After trying to service myself with trying to find the right Matting size I was looking for, I waited patiently about 5 minutes for the employee to finish with her other customer. She asked me: DO you ladies have questions? (in a not so welcomed tone). I said: Yes I do. She tartly replied: ASK. (And by tartly I don't mean, Oh look in the glass case and I'm gonna order that peach tart cause it's tasty type of reply...it was rather demanding). I said (shocked about her tone): Well I actually have questions and will need your assistance that a basic question won't answer. My friend's response was: Wow, how rude. She didn't respond to anything. Then after she finshed the other customer...she said she'd be back to help me after she put the customers frame order (or whatever it was) in the back. Then an old cranky man came out and said you need help. I knew that old battalax send the cranky man to so called help me. HE was rather rude too. She was probably upset that she had to face public with her mustache. Either way....man girl or not. There is no need for an employee to be rude to a customer. Maybe it's because I'm Mexican and she was white (which has been my experience in certain areas) either way. I was glad she was there to service me rather than me service her. I left unhappy but with a purchase of paint supplies. I'm calling the Distric Manager. No need for rudeness in a craft store. Everything you could possiable think of is here at this store. Not only for projects but when you have to decorate your home or office. Items may be come out to be very pricey. I have been to a few of the Michael 's stores so I was not very familair of the layout of the store. I kinda found myself roaming about facinated by all the items on each isle. Sadly, this location probably is the saddest and most none customer -focused Michaels I have ever been too. I myself did not ask for help, but I've heard some other customers ask associates for help, and in 4 occasions, these associates would just point at the direction it's located without saying a word. Didn't mention the aisle#, nor where it could be next to, nor even tried to walk them to whatever they were looking for. I've seen this happen 4 different times today with 4 different customers and 3 different associates. And then I've seen someone try to look at something on the racks in the yarn aisle, but an associate was in the area I guess trying to restock? The customer patiently waited for the associate to finish up, but it looked like she wasn't going to be done anytime soon, so the customer asked if she could look at something that was in front of the associate, and what the associate did was asked the customer what she wanted and got it for her, and continued on with her work. Customer ended up not wanting the color and wanted to put it away her self, but the associate looked at her and FINALLY moved, as if the customer was in her way? Seriously. Then at checkout, I was asked if I wanted a bag, and I said "yes please" and as she was ringing up my things, she was placing the items on the other side of the counter. I didn't see her get a bag so I thought maybe she's going to get the bag after. Well she told me total and I wanted to remind her of the bag, and she straight up said to me " I asked if you wanted a bag but you didn't say anything" lol. I can't blame my mask but Im pretty sure I was loud enough to be heard. It's either the group of associates working that day was just not in the mood to work or they all didn't have coffee (this was in the morning) . I do like Michael's very much but this location is not their best. I haven't had any of the horrible customer service issues others are writing about, but the store is often under-stocked and the employees are not always knowledgeable about what you're looking for or where you might find it. Michael's on Homestead Rd. is much better! Helpful employees and a large organized store. I've often been referred here by staff at the Westgate location for items they don't have. This is a great store for knick knacks. Finding them can be impossible. Generally, the employees are very knowledgeable and can guide you to the right place. Unfortunately, they don't always have enough employees... So you may wander around and around until someone can be helpful. Also, I've had two separate interactions with managers who seemed completely entitled and unhappy to answer my questions in a respectable manner. Unorganized. Consistent low inventory. Items never restock properly. Unhelpful staff. I go to Michaels a few times a month, but this the only hobby store close to home. Always don't have what I need because they don't restock their merchandise. They do it during the day when there are customers, and when people ask for items all they say is what they have on the shelf when there are tons of boxes over the place! I've also asked to use the bathroom. One person redirected to another because they have to open the door. Then he redirected me to another person. The 3rd employee opened the door. I asked if he may open it, he didn't say anything to me. Like just walked past me opened the door and walked away. Bit rude. The only thing bothers me the most is the inconsistent inventory. I do my hobbling and sell stuff online. When they don't have items I need consistently, then it backs up my orders or I have to go out the way to get it somewhere else. No bueno. read more

My experience Saturday was usual, however when I noticed I had bought the wrong size poster frames for my posters, I took them back to this store to exchange for the next size up. A cordial gentleman helped me locate what I needed in the back of the store, thank you for that. Then I reached the check stand...and that's when everything went sideways. A young woman, with foot long eyelashes, decided I wasn't worth her time or attention. Practically refusing to exchange my item, telling me, she has to get authorization from her manager. Then after told she can make the return (I asked for an exchange), she did so with disrespect. At one point telling me she cannot make an exchange, only return. I told her to do whatever it took to exchange the two frames I walked in with, for the other two larger frames. So she handed me cash for my previous purchase, then wanted to charge regular price, I had bought the other two on sale, buy one get one. I told her she may be mistaken, they were two for one, she said well maybe they're buy two get one. The conversation went south from there. In the end, the woman at the check stand was trying to charge me for three frames somewhere near $65 for two frames that retail for $21.98 each. Obviously, she was pulling something. We ended up involving that same manager, who it turns out was not the store manager, but a "Customer Experience Manager", who seemed to find no issues with the other employee, only with me for expecting to purchase two frames at the same sales price I paid the day before. First, I question this manager's title...because customer service is not where she should be in charge, and second it seems she's training this other woman in the art of poor attitude toward customers. The only Arts & Crafts I'm involved with is drawing and painting. Here at Michael's they have everything and more when it comes to my art. I draw alot of Disney characters especially Disney Princesses in manga form. So I need the best pencils and erasers so there are no blemishes on my canvas. Although Michael's can be a bit pricey you get exactly what you pay for. One criticism that I have and I know it's franchise wide not just one location is I wish they'd keep the Halloween decor up till Halloween day. The 2nd week in October it's Christmas themed everywhere. Halloween doesn't get it's due diligence. I also wish The Halloweentowns weren't so expensive but once again it's one of those things that you get what you pay for. read more

This Michael's reminds me a lot of Barnes and noble in the simple fact that they seem to have every thing, except what you need. I went in today looking for some leather working tools and supplies. The sales person pointed me to a small corner that struck me more as an after thought than a true display. There I found the barest minimum of supplies, and of course nothing I needed. I then began the arduous trek of trying to find another sales person, once found I asked if they new of anyplace local that might have what I need. That was when I was given the single most hated answer ever from a sales person. " I don't know, why don't you try this other place?" I came here on Saturday looking for Wilton's pre-made GingerBread House Icing Mix. Much to my dismay they seem to have stopped making it, however, a very friendly Wilton Cake Teacher was there to assist. She showed me what I needed to make the icing myself and informed me that they have cake decorating classes! How cool! I've always wanted to learn how to decorate a cake like a professional!!! Her recipe saved my party and I'm so happy that she was there to direct me to the right ingredients! So A+ for customer service.
