Me and my boyfriend go to this place a lot for their cheesesteaks and my favorite, their ham and Swiss club sandwich. Just an all around great local spot for anything bread related! The inside is definitely nothing fancy and even a bit dingy (hole in the wall vibes) but I always get takeout and love it. The service is pleasant, with very kind workers! Love the chicken salad but why would anyone want this many cherry hot seeds on their sandwich? Had to pick them all off. It takes 5 seconds to pop it and clean them out.... This is the best cheesesteak in the Philadelphia area, and YES, it is worth driving out of your way. What sets it apart is the sandwich roll, which is DIVINE, and the quality of the steak. If you enjoy a cheesesteak you must visit here. My grandma lived around the corner from this shop for 52 years and everyone in my family really loves the cheesesteaks here. I ate dozens of Michael's cheesesteaks in my childhood, and later moved to Philadelphia and tried all of the "best cheesesteaks in Philadelphia" and found none of them nearly as satisfying. The bread was crusty enough to be interesting and robust, soft on the finish, and spongy enough to absorb the gooey whiz and steak fond. The interior of the sandwich was gloriously tender and well-seasoned steak with the perfect crisp bite and juicy mouthfeel. This meat bomb oozed it's juices along with a hot yellow salty savoury whiz happy mess. This is one of the best steaks I've had in Philly. Happened upon this unassuming corner sandwich shop while we were in the area yesterday. We were the only ones there when we arrived (though it was a bit early for lunch), so had out pick of tables. Ordered an Italian "small" - holy cow it was huge. Stuffed with the freshest meats and cheese. On amazing bread. Made two meals out of it (really looked forward to eating the 2nd half of my sandwich today - was just as good!). And the service, friendly as can be! I always get the same thing when I go here; a cheesesteak wrap with American cheese and hot peppers. I'm normally the type to try a lot of different items from a menu but that wrap was so fresh, I wouldn't be surprised if they literally butchered the cows in the back room and grew their own wheat. The shop is dirty. When you walk in, the smell is offensive. I got a cheesesteak with fried onions. The guy behind the grill (Michael???....take a bath!!! you are greasy). Perfect spot for a cheese steak. Stopped in on my way to the airport and the friendly staff quickly helped me find a sandwich that I could take on a plane and not get soggy.
