Chicken Salad Hoagie, cherry hots not cleaned out
    Julianna M.

Love the chicken salad but why would anyone want this many cherry hot seeds on their sandwich? Had to pick them all off. It takes 5 seconds to pop it and clean them out.... Also ordered a buffalo chicken cheesesteak. Chicken was great, but did not get the sweet peppers I asked for when I called. 30 minute wait for a pickup wished my order was right:(

Boom! Oh yeah, I ate it all.

Needed a cheesesteak on my way to Philly and Yelp guided me to Michael's Sandwich Shop. The regular stream of neighborhood folks picking up orders made it clear I chose right. The steak was just right, roll fresh and chewy, perfect amount of peppers, and way more fries than I could eat.

    On point!

My first cheesesteak in Philly and Michael hooked it up! Clean place and friendly service. Super nice guy

A very solid neighborhood option for a cheesesteak. There's a few tables to eat in but it seems like they do more of a carry out business. Not in our cheesesteak top 10 but a good option if you're in the neighborhood

Very nice local joint. Hoagies were fresh and huge! Nice people working there, too. We just stumbled upon it and we'll go back.

The best cheesesteak around. You could club a person with a small. The one person in there when always has a cool T-shirt on.

Here's a Yelp review that sounds authentic and balanced:…read more After four years away from the Philadelphia area, LaSpada's was the first place I wanted to stop for a cheesesteak--and it did not disappoint. The sandwich was loaded with juicy, flavorful steak from end to end. The roll was fresh, soft, and held everything together perfectly. I ordered it with American cheese and mushrooms, and the cheese was melted nicely into the meat while the mushrooms added great flavor. I'd read a few recent reviews saying LaSpada's had gone downhill, but that wasn't my experience at all. My cheesesteak was excellent, the portion was generous, and every bite reminded me why this place earned its reputation. If I had one suggestion, I'd love just a little more cheese and mushrooms, but that's a minor point. Overall, it was a fantastic sandwich, and I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area. Highly recommended!

The lady that served it had an attitude and it took her a laboring 5 minutes just to walk 10 feet to drop off my cheesesteak. I apologized to my co-worker who thought I was nuts for recommending the place. I am guessing/hoping it is under different owners than it was in the 80's and 90's. I won't be back.

A house with a shed turned kitchen on someone's lawn with a patio serving food? Why not? ..... I'll admit the pics of the pizza and supporting a fellow Sicilian (Sam) helped push me to visit, but the entire operation and their story intrigued me. I'll skip the story of their beginnings, but I just felt like I went back in time pulling along side a road to grab a bite to eat. Lots of shade trees, a converted shed into a kitchen and a large picnic gazebo/patio greeted me as I pulled up. (No bathroom on premises) Then I met Kayla (pronounced Ki-yla not kay-la) and Sam. They are nice welcoming, hard working people who made sure everything about my orders was right. First visit, I tried their cheesesteak with hot peppers. It was on an Amoroso roll. The portion was decent, flavors were good, little grease, solid melting of cheese in with the meat and the hot peppers provided just the right amount of kick and flavor. In hindsight I should have gotten the roll toasted a bit, but overall it was an average cheesesteak. Can't say anything bad about it. I ordered three pizzas to go the other day and they were tasty. The dough is made fresh daily. I haven't seen large thin crust NY slices in Delco before so that was a first. Couple observations, the pizzas are 20" so your slices will measure about 9" to 9 1/2" long. The crust was thin, crispy, had a nice light char and stood straight as an arrow. It's a little heavier on the sauce side which is thick, a little acidic with a sweet/spicy bite to it. I would have liked a bit more cheese to even out the cheese/sauce ratio. For $15 a pizza, I thought it was a good value, they do sell by the slice at $3. I will definitely stop in again to try their other offerings. A few people waiting for their food recommended the breakfast sandwiches and roast beef sandwich. Thank you Kayla and Sam!

We had several winemaking tasks to do that morning, including some barrel cleaning, bottling, and some other chores, which are not necessarily some of the more fun activities associated with the hobby, and here he comes with a wonderful breakfast sandwich. Despite living nearby and having passed this location so many times I remember their old sign by heart; "Anna's Sandwich Shop - No gas, better hoagies" due to their proximity to a giant Wawa with gas station that opened across the street, I had not been there to ever experience what so many people have told me is an essential spot to try in the area. This was my day to try, and I have to say that I was wowed. He brought me a steak, egg, and cheese on a long roll but also made sure to get wonderfully pan fried onions enmeshed throughout the whole sandwich as well as having it perfectly peppered. What left the biggest impression on me was how perfectly the flavors melded together and how easily I was able to inhale such a huge sandwich at the early morning hour without feeling too full. The only downside was that it left me wanting more, and I felt like I could have easily finished off a second one, and I don't know why. While I love food and trying new things, I can't generally eat extremely large portions. I like to try a bunch of many different little parts so that I can have a bit of everything, but here, I could have eaten enough in sandwiches to feed four people. Dangerous! I have not had the opportunity to meet any of the staff or even to see the inside of the place, but I have to assume that is is a typical Delco sandwich shop, which for me is a place I'd like to go. With up front, no frills friendly staff that is most likely local and has been for a long time. I do believe that it has changed hands recently but is still being run the same way it has traditionally be so don't expect any changes here. Just good stuff, and for me, so far that means delicious, overly consumable breakfast sandwiches. Stop by on your way down MacDade one morning and try one for yourself!
