Recently, I received a referral for Michels Plumbing Inc in Aurora, IL. I didn't think I had a problem with my water heater, but it was old and I wanted to be safe versus sorry..... Strangely, this very week I had the appointment and noticed there was water in the "pan" under the existing water heater. It was confirmed today during my appointment, that my old water heater did in fact, start to leak.... I was very lucky with my timing to simply pursue purchasing a new one. Conclusion: Michels has been very responsive, they know what they are doing, have done our work correctly, their prices seem fair, and they have provided us with excellent service. Details: The roots of a tree were growing into our sewer pipe and clogging it. The first plumber we called routed the line but it became clogged again a week later. When that happened we called Michels and they routed the line using the right equipment. The line stayed clear for a couple years after that. They also contacted the city of Aurora to check the city pipes coming to our house. The city came out and put a camera through our pipe to check it and gave the final video to Michels. Eventually the pipe became clogged again. MIchels came out and did the job again. The tree was removed a year or two later and the line has never clogged since. We are currently working with companies to level our patio and the issue of holes in our sewer pipe came up. I called Michels to find out how far from the house the branches had gotten into the pipe. They actually took the time to pull the video and examine it to help me determine whether the leveling work might cause a problem. From a plumbing perspective I have no issue, however they are pricey. My biggest complaint with Michels and speaking with Matt is that they truly DO NOT care about customer service. Their plumber Bryan used an outlet for rodding that blew out an outlet and lights along that circuit. Bryan then used a different outlet to complete the job without telling me about the blown circuit. Matt(owner/manager) took absolutely no ownership and was unreasonable of the issue they caused. I would never use them again and advise using a company with not only good plumbing skills but also customer satisfaction as a priority with warranty and fair pricing. read more

We hired Michels Plumbing to change our kitchen faucet. Very nice man came to the house and left the area clean BUT he used a metal scraper on my chrome/stainless steal sink to remove hard water build-up. Yes, scratches. He took our old Moan (6 year old) faucet without asking. Then our water pressure wasn't as strong after new faucet was installed. We wrote Michels a letter informing them of the above details. They totally ignored the letter but had no problem sending us a bill over $100.00 for 30 minutes of work. We have used them in the past and were happy with the results. But in all honesty, we will not be calling them back. We are both very disappointed in their lack of respect for a good paying customer. read more

This will probably be the last time we call MIchels Plumbing. They have always done good work and had the amazing flexibility to send a bill rather than taking payment at the time of service. We were told rather rudely that this policy has changed. We have always paid our bill on time and in full. Can't this be extended to existing customers? We had a lead water main leak. The estimate was fair, the workmanship was outstanding! The plumbers took care to make a very secure splice in the pipe. They also explained each piece they were putting in, why they use that brand, and what the benefits of it over others are. Their rates were reasonable and their work was fast. When there was confusion on price after what we needed changed on site and there were communications issues, they stood by it and were more than reasonable in what they eventually charged us. Michel's Plumbing put in my water heater less than a year ago. The pilot light keeps going out. Last Saturday morningI was in a rush, having a party and no hot water. I called because I was unable to light the pilot myself. Joe asked, "Do you want me to come over?" Like a fool, I said, "Yes". Michel's is located less than 10 minutes from my home and was here less than 10 minutes. I just received a bill for $131. That equates to $262 an hour.
