I come to this place every time I come to Austin. I enjoy their their food very much. The atmosphere is something left to be desired. But they make up for it a good food and good service. I strongly recommend this place

Got the veggie ramen delivered. Decent noodles and add ins. Not the biggest fan of the veggie miso broth tho - too salty in my opinion.

Had this Togo. Broth was delicious and flavored well and my ramen was super fresh and noodles were cooked perfectly. Service was slow but that's ok. The food made up for it.

Japanese curry with (mashed) potato pancake. Soooooo good. Served only in the evenings.

Been going here for years. The food is SO good, and the vibe of the place is imminently old Austin. Owner Freddy established this place early in Austin's ramen wave, fusing Japanese ramen with a Texas lean, summer specific menu items, and a continually dynamic approach to the beer and sake selections. I'm always happy when we go, and sooooo full when we leave. My current favorite is the Japanese curry served only in the evenings. I also enjoy the sliced pork option in the miso broth and an extra ajitsma egg. An unsung hero is the spicy house red chili oil--get it in the side to just taste how good it is. There are so many good places in 2020 to get great ramen in Austin, and OG Michi has established itself as ramen royalty.

On a cool Austin night, there's nothing better than some warm ramen from a local ramen joint! Michi Ramen is always a hit and although I've only ever had the South Lamar takeout location, it has never disappointed with everything I've tried. They are always takeout only at the South Lamar location so COVID-19 hasn't skewed their services much but nonetheless they are always on-time with great ramen. My go-to dish: Michi Ramen Bowl! - Pork Belly is the best option (although I wish there was more in each serving!) - Includes roasted nori, mayu oil, woodear mushrooms, and green onions - I always add corn for $0.50! - Sometimes I add butter - so decadent! My dish tonight: Michi Ramen Bowl w/ pork chashu Support local ATX restaurants!

Beware! Portion sizes are much smaller than at dine in. Otherwise it's good, miso broth is great.

From the very first sip of that rich, creamy broth, I knew this place was something special. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the pork was tender and flavorful, and every bite felt like comfort in a bowl. Honestly, it's the best ramen I've ever had--and it's not even close. What really sets this place apart is the customer service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and truly make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The vibe is awesome--lively, clean, and the kind of place you want to sit, relax, and enjoy every minute of your meal. And whatever you do, don't pass up the Spicy Wings. They are sweet, spicy, and perfectly crispy--cooked just right with that satisfying crunch in every bite. Absolutely delicious and the perfect complement to an already amazing meal. Top-notch service, incredible food, and an unbeatable atmosphere--this place is a must-visit.

My first time wasn't too memorable and the second time I got the ultra spicy veggie ramen and it was so spicy I cried (which is good haha i have very high spice tolerance so I'm glad I found a spot that can do truly spicy). This time, I got the deluxe Chicken Paitan DX Ramen (the one that comes with the chicken leg). Chicken Paitan DX Ramen: A sweet soy glazed chicken leg is served on a hot sizzling plate with a small bed of bean sprouts marinating in the sauce. The sauce is a sticky, sweet soy sauce that is so delicious. The chicken leg itself is tender, juicy, and has a great skin texture. The skin soaks up the sauce so well and even has some nice charred bits that add to the flavor and complexity of the dish. The ramen itself was great too. A creamy rich chicken broth. I got the spicy level, so one level under the top spice level and it was perfect. Not unbearably spicy, but had a really nice underlying kick. The noodles are a thin yet snappy noodle so it made it easy to eat. I love the corn and mushroom spirals too! Overall, if you come based on this review, make sure to get the chicken paitan dx ramen. There are only 15 served in a day but ask them if they have it because I was able to get one on a Monday night at around 8PM! It's a nice space, good for a date or even a casual hangout. They have tables to accomodate parties of 1, 2, 4, and possibly 6.

The costilla ones weren't bad either but the pastor was the clear winner between the two. I ordered the carnitas tonkotsu ramen and had no complaints here. Somehow, against all odds, Ramen Del Barrio still exceeds its reputation. There's only one vegan ramen option but it's all you need, both in terms of portion size and flavor. I've never had anything quite like the mole tsukemen, a Tex-Mex mashup pairing rich mole broth served separately from handmade noodles so thick, you might mistake them for udon at a glance. Simple toppings of fried tortilla strips, avocado, charred jalapeno, and caramelized onions adorn the top. Before this moment, I thought I just wasn't a fan of mole. It turns out, I had never tried great mole before. This stuff dazzles with layered spices, melded so well that I can't pick a single one out from the pack. It's not overwhelmingly hot, but definitely leaves your lips tingling. I'm glad I finally got there before they close up shop at their current location in Hana World Market on December 21st, and even happier to know that their new brick-and-mortar isn't too far behind. I'll be there as soon as the doors open!

Apr 8, 2026 review:…read more I've been at Nori two times in person and recently tried their to-go order. We got one Austin roll ($22), volcano roll ($15), creamy spicy tan tan ramen ($20), teriyaki sesame tofu yakisoba ($20). I have had their sushi and yakisoba but tried their ramen for first time. I was impressed with their packaging. As you can see in picture, veggies and noodles box was on top and soup at bottom. The only thing I didn't like how noodles became very sticky because of how tight they were packed. So I got it as cold (because I live 30 mins away) and sticky. Ramen came with all the veggies like grilled Chinese broccoli, tofu, sweet corn, marinated shiitake mushrooms, red onions and negi. Yakisoba noodles had the Stir-fried noodles tossed with cabbage, scallion, carrot, marinated shiitake mushrooms, and fragrant negi in a savory house sauce. It was good if you like this type of noodles. Austin roll had Smoked tempeh, tempura tofu, jalapeño, pickles. And on the to Avocado, roasted garlic oil, tempura flakes, smoked paprika, teriyaki. Volcano roll was a deep fried roll which had spinach, avocado, sweet potato. On top: spicy mayo, sweet soy sauce, chili sauce, Caviart and tempura onion. I would say this is the best vegetarian sushi place I've found in Austin. So if you're in search, this wouldn't disappoint you.
