We had leftovers and didn't feel heavy after our meal so it's a convenient healthy option. - Braised Korean BBQ Pork: Tasted like pulled pork so we weren't huge fans. - Spicy Chicken: Not as good as the fried chicken options. It's like poached chicken tossed in a spicy sauce. Wish the sauce was caramelized so it can coat the chicken better. - Bang Bang Chicken: Fried boneless chicken bites coated in their zesty Bang Bang sauce. It was okay. I wouldn't have known it was fried and couldn't really tell what the flavor was until I read the description. - K'Pop Chicken: Fried boneless chicken bites in the Gangnam sauce. This was the best of the three chicken proteins we tried thanks to their Gangnam sauce. - Base - Brown Rice: Great texture, not hard. - Base - Jasmine Rice: Really good. Our first visit to Chi'Lantro was pretty good. It took a minute to browse the menu. Our server Levi was very helpful and let us sample items off the bar. I went with tofu since they didn't have any other vegetarian or pescatarian items. It was good! I went with the noodle bowl but with rice instead of noodles. Unfortunately the rice was overcooked and hard. All of the other ingredients were fresh. The bowl was ok, but even with the sauce it felt dry. I will order something different next time. The fries were great and my fiances wrap was HUGE and lasted 2 meals. We will go back again especially now that I understand that I can make my own bowl. I love this place! Great customer service, everyone is so friendly and helpful. They have a Curated By Rice Bowl Experts menu. I love it! Makes it easier for me instead of trying to figure out what to choose. I got the KPOP Chicken Bowl and it hits the spot every time,, consists jasmine rice, carrot, Monterey jack cheese, cilantro, green leaf lettuce and cabbage mix, pickled veggies, onion, red cabbage, sesame seeds, and spicy ranch. My friends and I wanted to grab a quick bite to eat while in Austin and decided to try the very popular Chi'Lantro. I remember when they were just starting up as a food truck and now they have brick and mortars all over Austin. This location is located in a strip. We had no problem finding parking. We ordered at the counter and got a large table to accommodate all of us. I ordered Korean Fried Chicken wings and shared some Kimchi Fries. The wings were big in size and fried to perfection. I don't know for a fact if they double fry, but they were nice and crispy even though being tossed in their delicious sauce. The kimchi fries were outstanding as well. It too was a large portion, topped with kimchi, cheese, onion, cilantro, different sauces, and Korean BBQ steak. I'm picky when it comes to kimchi, but I liked theirs. Our large group got a little bit of everything and everyone enjoyed what they got. I would definitely hit up one of their spots again if I'm craving some nice Korean fusion food! read more

My buddy Mike & I came here earlier this Saturday afternoon around 1pm to grab a to go lunch after walking the lake. There was no line when we walked inside, and the inside of the restaurant was both clean and very well kept. As for the food, it was solid. Definitely recommend their soy glazed chicken (although they have other protein options as well), and they have several other add ins to choose from as well such as eggs, corn, black beans, kimchi, chilantro, shredded carrots, etc. If you haven't been to chilantro, this spot is definitely worth trying! read more

Hate to write this review but the noodles in my bowl today were completely inedible due to the amount of salt in it... I have never tasted anything this salty, it seems as if someone dropped a jar of salt in it by accident... I ordered a vegetarian bowl and the noodles were 2/3 of the content which I had to throw out - such a waste of money and food. I'm also pregnant and craving salty food so the fact that this was so salty I couldn't even swallow it says a lot. Would have been an unhealthy amount of sodium to consume. Not bad if you are looking for a quick bite (taste more of a chain than an authentic food experience) . The portions are generous and the service was excellent. Solid location. I wish I had a lot more to say. It's clean, with plenty of seating, the food is good, and the staff is friendly. There's nothing about this spot that stands out, good or bad. And that's not a negative, that's really just a testament to Chi'Lantro's consistency for good food and quality service. I got a small tofu ssam last time I was here and took no time in devouring it while sitting at one of the tall tables with some friends. This is a pretty good spot for groups as the workers that day kept the line moving. Great for the mixed diet friend group as I was the only vegetarian and another member couldn't have fried food and she ordered herself a nice rice bowl. Someone else got kimchi fries. Everyone who's been in the Austin area has told me to check out Chi'Lantro. I'm so glad I did! It's a great Asian fusion place that has huge potions. A single bowl can last me 2 meals. I was a little disappointed by this location thought because they didn't add any flavor or marinade to the tofu in my bowl, so it was pretty bland. I also didn't get many noodles in the bowl so it wasn't as filling as I'd like it to be. I still would come back again though or go to another location. read more

Love this spot. Had yummy kimchi fries. I had a coupon, but they skipped applying it and refunded me and redid the order. More training needed, only one of the reps knew how to process the refund. I had a great first trip here. Sad to say the second trip was awful. The women making my food was very rude. They were out of chicken and didn't offer any type of compensation. Chi'Lantro!!! I'd heard about it for a long time and how amazing the Kimchi Fries were! Their growth is a testament to the large following they have in the Austin arena. With the cold weather and stiff wind Wednesday and Day 3 of the dreaded common cold---my granddaughter and I decided one of the brick and mortar locations would be best. It was a toss up between the S. Lamar location and this location-both near her place. The "Shore Location" as this is called is a beautiful property-lots of glass and metal -huge , tall windows-tall condos and apartments surround the area-easy access to bus route and campus. Since I'd heard the fries were legendary I had to try them...we agreed to split an order and each decided we wanted our own bowl-and to order a ToGo for the grandson as this was girl time. Hannah advised me to "follow the instructions on the menu board" and I'd be fine. We ordered the fries-and were asked to choose a protein so opted for beef. Then -I was up-choice of rice, noodle, lettuce, taco (2) or burrito. I opted for noodle and a pretty Asian designed bowl was given a healthy dose of fine, sweet potato noodles. Next-choice of protein-beef, spicy chicken *my choice. soy glazed chicken, glazed tofu, add fried egg? (Yes) add Queso (no-not this time)-on to fresh chopped veggie /herb selections-me? Everything but Cilantro...kimchi-yes and half a fresh avacado (no guacamole due to cilantro)-sauces-I believe there were at least 6 options-I chose the Magic Sauce(it was ranked 2 flames). Hannah managed her and her brothers bowl-. I ordered us beverages when I saw the fountain was Maine Root offerings including Ginger Beer (I've never found on a beverage fountain anywhere!) I had a very short lived heart attack when I saw the size of the "fries" that we had gotten for an appetizer. It easily could've been shared by two people as a main course or three or more for an appetizer. Once I got over my shock and paid our bill I couldn't wait to get back to a table and start chowing down. The fries were crispy and fresh even though nearly buried under a mountain of beef and other toppings and of coarse Kimchi. OMG Really delicious! It was hard to focus on our conversation and try different areas of my bowl and an occasional "have to have a couple more fries" moment! Hannah and I both enjoyed the Ginger Beer too. The food is great. The customer service here is HORRIBLE. The women working the front don't know how to separate work and act professional when customers are present. First walked, they are laughing and playing. We waited for a bit, and afterward said can we go ahead and order? They are still playing around. We asked for 2 orders of Kimchi Fries and they kept laughing and playing and not paying attention to what we were requesting. Proceeds to add ingredients, that we did not want, a complete disaster. As we got to the end, they are still playing and ignoring us. Gave us 1 order when we asked for TWO orders. We repeated that we asked for TWO orders. Chi'Lantro's started in Austin as a wholesome foodtruck and has since grown into a variety of establishments across town. This review is exclusively for the brick and mortar location in East Riverside which features a pick-your-dish type setup similar to Chipotle albeit with Korean options as opposed to burritos. The ingredients are usually fresh and the service is quick and seamless. The main issues here tend to focus on the (surprisingly) short amount of base they give you (rice or noodles) and the meats being overly salty. About half the time I come here it's a delightful meal (4 stars) while the other half I can't finish the food because it's too salty (2 stars). I'm an avid fan of Korean food and am typically used to very strong flavors, but the overwhelming salt in some of their dishes can be quite a turnoff. Definitely try some of the sauces as well if you're a first-timer to make sure your order doesn't overwhelm you. read more

Mexican and Korean fusion, and you make your own meal (bowl, burrito, fires, etc.) in a line like subway or chipotle. Even though it's a little pricey (you pay extra for the protein you want) you get more food then you expect, I had to take half of it home. Crazy enough it was just as good or even better a few hours later. The noodles are sooo good, but the tofu was a bit spongey, and the steak was underwhelming, but the pork is pretty nice. My girl friends and I were visiting Austin for a bachelorette party, and we wanted to hit up Chi-Lantro because we had heard about their Kimchi Fries and their unique take on fast casual Korean food. It's important to know that all Chi'Lantro locations are CASHLESS. The staff at this location was super friendly and answered all of our questions since it was our first time visiting. My friends and I shared the Kimchi Fries. It is a basket of fries loaded with toppings like caramelized kimchi, cheese, cilantro, onions, "magic sauce" and Sriracha. These are super rich and spicy, but sooo good! This is an Austin original dish, and a MUST EAT! We also split an order of Korean Fried Chicken Wings, which are doused in sweet and spicy Gangnam sauce. The skin could be crispier, but they are a good appetizer. I did love the spicy ranch dipping sauce though. I poured it over my custom noodle bowl as well. My entree was a Noodle Bowl with spicy pork as my protein. Bowls come with a sweet potato noodle base, and you can choose what protein and all the toppings that you want. Everything tasted fresh, and you can watch your food made exactly as you request. Chi'lantro is a spot I go to just about every time I go to Austin. It is pretty much a Chipotle meets Korean food. The food is always phenomenal and the experience is normally incredible. I love to get the kimchi fries to share with 1-3 other people. I'm a huge fan of putting the spicy pork on it, as the flavor is just incredible with the sauces other ingredients. Along with the kimchi fries, I'll normally get a burrito with noodles in it, and just about all these sides. The service here is great and check in on us to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves.
