There are a few customizable options for broth and broth flavor with toppings including carrots, sprouts & cabbage, inari tofu, corn, mayu garlic oil, kikurage mushrooms and green onions. We chose veggie broth with miso flavor and chicken broth with lemongrass flavor for our bowls. Both were delicious and fulfilling, exactly like a bowl of hot ramen should be. Honestly, I'm very disappointed. I was so excited to see a vegan option and decided to splurge one day when I was feeling a bit down. Let me tell you, this thoroughly failed to lift my spirits. The only flavor I got from the broth was straight salt, and trust me, I do have a high salt tolerance. It was packed separately from everything else which was nice, but the noodles were still all stuck together like one overcooked doughy brick. The vegetables were scant and forgettable; cabbage, corn, and the thinnest shreds of dried mushrooms you can imagine. Everything else is extra. Been going here for years. The food is SO good, and the vibe of the place is imminently old Austin. Owner Freddy established this place early in Austin's ramen wave, fusing Japanese ramen with a Texas lean, summer specific menu items, and a continually dynamic approach to the beer and sake selections. I'm always happy when we go, and sooooo full when we leave. My current favorite is the Japanese curry served only in the evenings. I also enjoy the sliced pork option in the miso broth and an extra ajitsma egg. An unsung hero is the spicy house red chili oil--get it in the side to just taste how good it is. For starters, I placed an order that took over one hour to process which I would understand for any other restaurant for takeout but not for a restaurant with a whole business model based on takeout. This automatically took it to three stars for me; HOWEVER, I got the food and was pleasantly surprised which changed my opinion. I got a Michi Ramen which sadly didn't have any pork, but I was fine with that as the ramen tasted adequate. To go Michi is the best kind of Michi. My go to is the standard Michi, with standard broth, and I like to request the burnt ends instead of the chopped chashu. I also add an ajitama (marinated soft-boiled egg). Typically I am ordering Michi with my friend Kathryne so one of us is ordering a take home container of Spicy as well, but if you're not up for that, just have it added to your ramen. It adds a nice kick. But seriously, do yourself a favor and get a take home container of Spicy as well. I recently moved to NYC and my BFF sent me away with a 16 oz mason jar full of spicy. I've only eaten restaurant ramen twice now, and the first was Ramen Tatsuya, so there was a lot to live up to. This location was apparently takeout and delivery for a day, then takeout only. I asked and they said they will soon be delivering to 78704 and 78745. The staff was still a little in shock from the grand opening I guess. When I got home, the hot spring egg was missing, as was the fish cake. So check your order before you leave. They also don't serve any apps or sides, except salad and edamame. That should change soon. Overall. It tasted pretty good. And it somehow seemed healthier than other takeout options, although there's no proof this is the case until Texas, like New York, mandates that all restaurants post their calorie counts. But the end result was that it really just made me want to go back to Ramen Tatsuya. read more

The proportion of vegetables was also strange, there was SO MUCH corn in mine and a tiny amount of green onion- I think the aggressive amount of corn lended to the sweet flavor. Initially, I was skeptical about ordering here as the reviews were pretty low, but after reading the reviews and realizing that the negativity was due more to their customer service as opposed to the food, I decided to place an order as it was for pick up and we were very impressed. It was my husbands first time trying ramen and he loved it. I have had many a ramen bowl and the one thing I complain about is the lack of chicken or veggie broth, as it is usually just pork and Michi had both options! We ordered the Michi ramen with a side of spicy chili oil , Sapporo ramen with egg and edamame. The spicy chili oil is a must addition if you need a little more of a kick. Everything was delivered as requested. I used door dash. The ramen was really GOOD! I did reheat everything and mix it into a bigger bowl, but it takes 20 minutes to get to the house after it's made. Michi Ramen provides a simple, reasonably healthy (I guess) quick option for dinner for us. The Ramen we have had is always good. Some days, when we're lucky, it's excellent. It does seem to vary a bit. If it was always excellent, it would earn that 5th star (keeping in mind it's a take-out restaurant). I used to always order the meat lovers, and often I'd get an addition pork belly or something added. Also tried the sapporo. I think when making the broth choice, we are going to order "stout" from now on to ensure a bit more concentrated flavor. One thing we always order at least a couple at a time are the sides of burnt ends. They are pork (chasu?) and are absolutely delicious to us, with whatever seasons they use. We highly recommend. Some friends and I got food to-go from here Saturday night. I did not have a complex order - veggie bowl with no additions or alterations. After the guy at the front counter asked me my name for the order and swiped my card, he turned the screen around so I could select a tip and sign my name. The lowest tip on the screen was 15%, but since I had an easy to-go order I made the custom tip 10%. When he turned the screen around, he audibly scoffed then said, "There's also a no tip option." I didn't say anything at the time because I didn't want to cause a scene, but I've never had such an interaction at a restaurant that was just dripping with sarcasm. My food came out at the exact same time as one of my friends, but when he gave it to us he said, "Have a good night, Chris" in a mocking manner without acknowledging my friend the same way. It was incredibly pointed and goes down as the worst service experience I've ever had. The shame in all this was the food was actually pretty good, but this man's flippant attitude means I'll never eat here again. read more

I have to make this review because I think it's important how efficient this place should be if it's only a "take out" place. It's sad because I adore the North Lamar location and have been going there for the last three years with no issues. I went to this location on a Monday night and ordered a online take order and got a confirmation saying it'll take 15 minutes. I got there about five minutes earlier than the time I got and was asked to wait a little bit for my order. Okay so I assumed I would wait maybe ten mins tops, and the cashier said she'll bring it out for me... For some reason, she got moved to the back and a new cashier took over and a long line formed while I was waiting. I wasn't able to talk to the cashier because of how long the line was and a couple before me got their food before me... and they ordered in the store... How is it that a online order takes longer than a over the counter order? MAKES NO SENSE. The new cashier noticed how pissed I was and asked what my name was. Apparently it was sitting there the whole time. I waited OVER the given pick-up time. 20 mins over... I really hope this location gets it together. read more
