Dreadfully average. It was early in the season for crabs, so we didn't expect them to be great. And they weren't that great, but that's hardly the problem. Our server was terrible. It was 6pm and virtually empty and our waitress seemed flustered whenever we asked her for something, like she was burdened by us and it was a pain to make a trip back and forth. She disappeared for almost our entire meal, and we were dying for water by the time she finally made her way over to us. She never put paper down on our table for the crabs. We asked her for a separate dish to eat the crabs on and she said OK but never brought it. Oh, and when we asked other servers for things in her stead, they would act like it wasn't their job and seemed annoyed that we even dared to ask them. The place is outdated and was probably decorated by a beach-going granny, which made it all the more weird that they were blasting bad top 40 hits like Will Smith's Miami and the horrible Fergalicious. Don't waste your time, find a real crab place in Maryland. read more

Wanted crabs and that's exactly what we got! Heading home to NY and we just didn't get our fill of Maryland crabs while visiting Baltimore. Luckily we stumbled upon Mick's. We ate a pile of crabs for a fraction of what we paid in the tourist areas. We ordered a dozen of the large crabs, however it seems AYCE was the big hit among the locals. Picked up a dozen XLs togo for family dinner tonight not only were they on sale $6 a piece but they were hands down the best crabs i have had in a while!!! First time visit for my sister and I all the way from Philadelphia. Initial encounter was half friendly and a little nasty or shall I say off putting to say the least, the waitress at the front door could have been a little more respectful working within a food establishment to put on a proper pair of drawers to match the smallest shorts she could find to be having patrons have to follow in behind her to their table. Now I cannot lie the food that I ordered was good. (AYCE (2); corn on the cob (3 x $1.50); broccoli ($2.50); soda ($2.99); and the fries (hot, crisp and salted) were to die for. I could not have been more happy, for I haven't eaten crabs in about 32 years. Now let me get to the service of the place. (1) The waitress that worked our table was Cori, pleasant but constipated look on her face anytime you asked her a question. Not very informative when asked about taking the rest of the crabs in the basket we had. First she stated, that we couldn't take the crabs, they go back to the COOK until the end of the night, and then informed us the girls (waitresses) buy them at the end of the night (now is that unsanitary or what, but not only that, does that mean that Mick sells the crabs twice in a day? Or are we all eating someone else's PICKED OVER?LEFTOVER CRABS?). So, to add insult to injury she tried to resolve the issue without the manager, only to upcharge my sister a $18.00 upcharge (&1.50 per crab) for each additional crab brought supposedly out of the bucket of crabs she snatched off our table before she even handed us the check and before it was even paid for. She was not informative at all about the rules, and acting like we were speaking a different language when we inquired about the additional crabs left in our basket on our table. The manager then stepped in with out much of an additional help, only now to somehow not being able to straighten out the matter accordingly. She ends up putting both charges on my sister card, only to say the first charge with the overcharge would drop off by the next day. (WTF why should that be?) Don't you know how to do a proper refund. Then didn't even have the audacity to comp a drink or a returning meal or nothing, not even a proper apology. Thanks for ending a great food experience to zero with bad customer service and worse management service. This will stop me from traveling for food. Not only to have the rest of our party from Philly come (4 more people) at 4:30pm when we were leaving, but their experience was no better than ours. But at least she ended up being able to take her remaining crabs for only (&1.00) a piece ( 18 in all). How could you pay for AYCE but not be able to take the remainder of your already paid for crabs in the baskets on your table? read more

Party of two each had the All You Can Eat (AYCE) crabs. And a half a pound of steamed shrimp. As well as an amazing Mango rum pitcher! With no reservation at 8 pm on a Saturday we were seated with in 5 minutes of arriving. Tamra our waitress was very friendly, and informative. Food was absolutely delicious and resonably price about $30 each for the AYCE crabs $10 for the 1/2 pound shrimp. I will definitely be visiting again. read more

The worst customer service, what happened to "the customer is always right" I have a 30 year customer service background. (Party of 6 ) I went to Mick's for the first time last night to celebrate my birthday with my sisters. We drove 1 hr for the all u can eat crabs that the website says must be seated by 8:30 pm. My sister called while we were on the way and the manager said get there by 8, we assume so that we could get a seat. We arrived at 8:18 and was told that we could not get the all u can eat. We asked why and was told because the register cuts off the special at 8, we pleaded with the waitress who said that she was the on duty Mgr. We asked for someone above her and she assured us that she would give us the business card. I told my sis not to Worry She could always write a review. We ordered from the menu drinks and food, the waiter not very nonchalant and took 23 mon to even take our orders, it was not crowed at all. The next thing I noticed is that the menu also said seating up to 8:30. 33 min had passed since we arrived and the food was still not setved, in walks a man up to our table with an attitude asking who wanted to speak with him. We had to ask who he was and he identified himself as Mike the owner, my sister expressed her concerns and he immediately answered confrontational that we should have been there by 8 and if we didn't take the post down he may not serve us! I SAID COME again? He became very belligerant when I said that we had not posted anything yet and he never heard us say anyyhing like that and he was going by hearsay. Not to mention that he was being unprofessional. His response was" I'm not serving you, happy birthday , drinks on the house now leave" I have never been so humiliated and angry!!! Mick's Crab House opened recently in the building that used to be Bentley's on Rt. 40 and I am sooo excited for a new AYCE crab place. The restaurant was newly redecorated and looked very beachy and casual. They have all-you-can-eat crabs at $20 for mediums or $30 for larges and it comes with fries and hush puppies. They also have a regular menu and sell crabs individually or by the dozen for those who don't want to crack crabs for hours (although I don't know why you wouldn't want to do that!). I had a chance to talk to the owner briefly as he came around checking on the tables. He is still doing some work to the place and I was most interested in his plans to add draft beer behind the bar. In the meantime, they have a huge selection of bottled beers and other mixed drinks. My boyfriend and I both got the AYCE medium crabs and they were awesome! They were really fat and sweet and delicious! In fact, they were a little fatter than some take-out #1 males I got last week from a place in DE... We ended up eating 3 orders and in the 2nd order, a couple crabs were a little mushy inside. That is my only complaint. But it was no problem because we just placed another order and they were as perfect as the 1st order! Service was super attentive and we left stuffed with crab. Can't wait to go back very soon. Since they are new I don't think they have a website or anything yet so you may want to call about their hours before going. I think they are closed a couple days...maybe Mon & Tue? Segregation alive and well in this Elkton MD establishment. My family had a get together here at Mick's Crab House, 11 of us all together. From a grandmother of 82 to a great grandchild. We planned on splitting our bill amongst ourselves as some of us wanted the extra large crabs and some were wanting the all you can eat deal. The waitress informed us she can't sell us the extra large if some are getting the all you can eat. We would all have to get the same size, unless we separate. Are you serious? We had to pull apart the table and devide our party in two in order to eat what we wanted. Stating how rediculus that rule is, as if we were just pre judged to being dishonest. We asked to speak to the manager. The hostess / manager came over to re explain the policy. My sister let her have it, thanking her for separating our family for their stupit pre judgemental rule. The manager asked, did you just call me over here to yell at me or do you want me to explain our policy? My sister said, I called you over here to yell at you because you're an idiot to break up a large party like this. WE WILL NEVER COME BACK. And thanks to social media like YELP I can share our experience and opinions wish the public. The waitress was the only saving grace. I can get crabs just as good as Mick's at a lot of places so due to the poor attitude of the so called manager we will not be comming back to this Elkton MD Crab House Mick.... Went to MD for the weekend on we were driving back on Sunday when we realized we did not have any crabs yet. We found this place on our way home and went in. It was very fresh and tasty. The old bay seasoning was a bit strong though. I wish we got there for the $1 crab hour but we missed it. We paid $2 a crab which wasn't bad either. read more

We visited Mick's on a friday in early November to have the AYCE Crabs. I know that the bay blue crabs are hard to find this time of years, I was told that these crabs came from the South Carolina area. Where ever they came from, they weren't as tasty as our blue crabs. I couldn't eat any of the "mustard" in the crabs(my favorite part). The service was really good and the ambiance was nice. If it weren't for the taste, I would have given them 4 or 5 stars. The only other thing I wanted to share is that I had to pay for 4 people @$30 a head for large even though only one member of my party wanted the large crabs. read more

If you're looking for Maryland style crab, then Mick's won't disappoint. I ordered 4 Large Crab and 1/2 dozen raw oysters. The claws on the crab were a bit dry, not sure if that's a freshness or preparation problem, but the rest of the crab was delicious. Oysters could've have been a little colder, perhaps they should serve them on ice (they didn't). Staff was attentive and the service was quick & efficient. I'm planning to go back, so I guess that says it all. read more

I went to Mick's crab house with my family on 04/12/14. Myself and my husband ordered the Rockfish meal. When the meal came I took two bites of the fish to taste and it was bland and flavorless. We I advised the waitstaff that I wanted to return my meal and order a different entree, I was confronted by the owner and he told us that he would not refund our money because this was a good dish. After repeated attempts to try to resolve the issue and the owner being very rude, confrontational, disrespectful and irrational the police had to be called. I will NEVER go to this place again and the owner fought us over a $24 meal when our bill was over $100 and that didn't include the other guest at our table. Please don't go to this restaurant if you don't like eating food that is nasty and bland. read more

1st time in MD eating crabs and this was a useless experience. The food took very long. When it did come out it was in waves of 2 and some plates were cold. Ran out of mashed and baked potatoes. No scallops and all you can eat crabs was out. The orders came out wrong and so long to get water. I have never been so unhappy at a restaurant. The customer service was so bad. Went to Mick's for the first time lastnight to celebrate my sister's birthday and I must say we had a very nice time! The waiter was very attentive and even though she was bartending as well the other waitress would help out and make sure our table and other's were ok. The salads are really fresh and good. We had the ayce crabs, salads, buffalo wings, and oysters everything was fresh and delicious. The crabs were a little small but thats due to the water still being cold and crabs being scarce. The drinks were good too! Try the $18 fishbowl. If you are into beer the beer prices are great. We requested to speak with the owner and he came to the table right away. Mick is very nice and down to earth and had no problem answering any questions we had and spoke with us for about 20 mins. We will definitely be returning and recommending this establishment. read more

Stopped in for dinner with my family on a Saturday night. Wasn't sure what to expect, but from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, it was a wonderful experience. We had several special requests and each one was met with no problem. The hostess was very nice as was the server. As for the food: the rockfish was cooked perfectly, the crab imperial was fabulous. The crabcakes were nice sized, not a lot of filler, but a little heavy on the old bay. The salmon was cooked perfectly also, a decent size for the price. Too bad there isn't a zero star rating. Had the all you can eat crabs. Tasted reheated dried up and gross. Service was slow...my mother ordered a crab cake ... It was horrible. She asked politely to have it removed from the bill... The manager came out and was immediately nasty with my mother. He stated that they would not comp the horrible crab cake and that my mother had to order something else. I have never heard if such a thing. Owner is a complete jerk food is sub par for MD crabs. We have been coming to Mick's since they opened. It is so great to have a place close to Newark that serves crabs! We always have great service and food. I love the all you can eat crabs and have been there several times with friends and a good time was had by all. LOVE the decor too! (We were there when the 1 star rater was there. I frequently come to micks crab house simply because you cant beat the price for there ayce crabs that are always great when I have them. also the full menu that includes apps, seafood entrees, pasta, chicken & steaks. My favorite is the crab pretzels yumm! also they have a impressive selection of bottled beers & specialty/frozen drinks. if you decide to give micks a try I recommend getting a frozen pitcher they're amazing! the decor in the building makes you feel like your in a beach setting very relaxing! I have eaten at this restaurant four times to have steamed crabs. the service is typically wonderful. But not tonight... If you sit near the bar and are waited on by Christy the same time she is working the bar find another seat... Her service was incredibly slow and awfully forgetful. Went to Mick's for the first time earlier this year to meet friends for dollar crab night. Since that first visit, have continued to go back about once a week. Have only tried the crabs, but have not been disappointed. My experience with Mick's is that it offers friendly service, a great atmosphere for our weekly girls dinner (the atmosphere is laid back - and we end up spending hours there eating and talking), and even has live acoustic music on some of the nights we have been there. Also, I love that there is a facebook page that is constantly updated with the nightly specials or special events (like live music). read more

husband and I went on weekend for the 2nd time . It was delicious. We both had the ayce mediums for 25bucks. we were not disappointed. It is a serious crab shack. Paper on the tables and a bucket and mallet for the tools. No butter or dip for us.. Just lovely delicious sweet Maryland blues. They had the game on TV which was nice for hubby. Waitress had our next dozen for us without having to wait for it. We will be back because we want to take other family members and show them how good it is. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. There were 8 of us that went to Mick's Crab House, one being my 7 year old daughter. All of us have either previously worked in the restaurant business, or currently do. Four of the eight are currently managers/bartenders at another local restaurant. We are all good patrons that have respect, manners, and take care of our servers. I will admit that there was a miss communication between our group. I don't think we knew that some wanted all you can eat and some did not. For those who aren't familiar with Mick's rule, if someone at the table orders all you can eat, no one can order other crabs that aren't all you can eat. Understandable. I get some people might try to pass along some of their 'all you can eat' to the others who didn't pay for that. My problem is this... If you have this rule, you should have a solution to this issue so that it does not become bigger than it needs to be. Maybe have smaller tables that break off so if they need to be separated, it's an easy fix. Or when seating people, especially large tables, explain the rule and ask if they will need one or two tables based on this rule. Now, when the server told us we weren't allowed to do this, there was nothing professional about the way she spoke to us. In the service business, you should always be polite, apologetic, and offer another solution. There was none of that. And again, we were all very understanding of rules and respectful. The rule wasn't the issue. When we were told we couldn't, we asked if the two wanting all you can eat (including my 7 year old daughter) at the table could move to a separate table. The server then walked away (thinking she was going to help us with a solution) to never come back again. She walked by multiple times without even a glance in our direction. We waited very patiently. After a bit of time, we decided one of us should go up to the hostess and ask for two separate tables, in order to make things "easier". That's the moment all hell broke loose. We were told how difficult and frustrating we were being BY THE OWNER and told to leave. We were literally just attempting to comply with the rule so everyone could get what they wanted. I am not someone to pull the race card. I am white, my daughter is bi-racial, I try to leave race out of the equation. But I TRULY believe if I were the one to go up to the hostess stand and ask for separate tables, the outcome would of been different. And that is not okay. I heard the entire encounter, as did my daughter. And heard our friend politely explain the situation and request a solution. We then heard the owner come out of no where to explode that we would not be served. That we were trying to make things difficult and frustrating staff and told to leave. I have never been so mortified/embarrassed in my life. They called the police. Which was all resolved after hearing the story. But not without my daughter scared and upset in the back seat of the car. This is where I have always gone with my family to eat crabs and whenever we have parties, I have always ordered from here, since they have opened. But I will never order from them again. I literally could not believe how we were treated or talked to. Period. Let alone in front of my child and other children that were there. This man and his business are a disgrace. read more

Crabs were good but small as they only had med and small oh and pricey. Other food was horrible. Burger overcooked with no flavor, chicken Chesapeake over cooked with no flavor. Bisque was runny and like a cup of milk. Only would recommend for crabs. Service was nice though. read more
