Incompetent. Lost all my files and pictures when all I asked for was to fix a minor problem and add more memory. Then they lied to me and tried to cover their tracks. This place is amazing. 1. The pc I got was supposed to come with a 1660 super GPU abut when I ordered it said it came with a 1660 TI GPU in device manager. 2. The service, every time I had a question the employees would help me, also I have never met a rude employee! 3. Short wait times, it said 18 min in store pickup and it took about 5 mins! Just keep your receipt. I did have a problem before when trying to get money back on a credit card from a return around the holidays. This place smells like used clothing as soon as you walk in the door. Entry and exit is the weirdest thing ever for people who are only there to get service work done on their electronics. Service isn't the best, u grab a number, check-in, and sit in these nasty chairs. Mind you, it's all types of people coming in here and u have to use the computers to check in. Those keyboards are probably filthy. There was an irate customer in there, but the manager and associate handled her well even though she was loud and obnoxious for no reason. She was obviously trying to incite others. I had gigs added to my laptop and it only took 15 minutes. They charged $30 for the labor and the part was $40. All in all, I'd come back because my MacBook runs much faster now, but I'd bring Lysol with me. read more

This store is like heaven for computer geeks - everyone from hardware junkies to casual computer enthusiasts. They stock anything and everything related to a computer - they are the Home Depot for computers. But like Home Depot, their customer service is found to be a bit wanting too! They eventually come around to helping you but it takes a effort to get their attention. Other than that, I am a fan! read more

They're taking social distancing very seriously. I found they had AirPods on sale, which I really wanted and ordered them online but had to pick them up in the store. You have to scan a QR code and then you go in a virtual line. While you wait they ask you to sit in your car. When it was my turn they look at your confirmation from the QR. They have everything spaced out so returns go one way, online pick ups go another, and shopping is another way. When they picked it up and gave it to me, everyone was behind thick plastic and the employees were in gloves and masks. I saw multiple people disinfecting while I was there. In total I was only inside for like ten minutes. Well done. read more

Micro Center feels like the manager of a CompUSA forgot to come to work in 1998 and the employees took over and now you're walking into the result. This is the place to go if you need some hardware and don't want to wait for shipping. They have a pretty good selection of motherboards and cases. Unless you are looking for something really specific, they probably have it. The prices are fairly competitive with online retailers. The in-store experience is a little messy and unorganized, but a lot of people seem to like this. The staff is also mostly helpful. The only issue I've ever had was getting an online order filled and having an item be out of stock, but it wasn't a big deal (a bag of hard drive mounting screws). I would like to see it be a little more structured and updated. There is a book section that appears to be abandoned except for the shelves of Windows Vista manuals. It's a fun store. I'll be back when I decide to start a new computer build. read more

Awful experience. Went to go buy a few parts today. Most of the stuff I needed was in a locked case, understandable. I waited for 30 minutes in front of two locked cases, and not one sales associate came to greet me or ask if I needed anything. They had plenty of employees working but they clearly don't have a system in place to help in a timely and orderly fashion. It was a zoo in there. One employee even saw his friend, who came in well after me, and helped him RIGHT AWAY. I even heard the employee say to his friend "I just got freed up, I can definitely help you pull parts you need right now." Meanwhile, the half dozen of us, who have been waiting patiently, received zero attention. In another instance, after one employee ran up a CPU do the front for a customer, I saw him chat with a coworker for 5-10 minutes, even though a line of customers were waiting for help. I went to a different section to ask for help. Instead of offering to help, the employee just directed me back to the area I was in and told me to ask someone there for assistance, even though his department had almost no customers in it. I went back and waited another 15 minutes to no avail. After that, I decided it was just best to leave. Also, please be aware of how they have their store laid out. They have tons of their product sitting in aisles, forcing people to basically walk on top of each other during a global pandemic. Some of their shelves where other like product sits were empty. I I understand retail needs to have items on the floor, especially the high margin stuff, but come on, do you really need every single box of the product on the floor? Can't you just put out one or two pieces at a time, making it safer for everyone. This was a travesty to public health. I hate to say this because I like supporting local and smaller businesses, but I will absolutely be buying my parts from Newegg and Amazon from now on. Micro Center lost a long time customer. Micro Center is lucky they have the monopoly on computer parts in the area or they wouldn't get the business they do. Their customer service and knowledge is some of the worst around. Their sales associates clearly push parts they are either bias towards or ones that have a higher margin. read more

When I went in, I was prepared to have someone talk down to me and treat me like I didn't know anything. Thats not the case with David in the BYO department. I was treated with respect, given options and opinions but still allowed to make my own decision. He was honest, respectful and amazing each step of the way and gave us every pro and con about the PC parts we were picking between and he never once made it feel rushed while I spoke with my partner and my friend who tagged along too. Bought an Open Box power spec which cost 1900$ for an open box. Ran couple of games but it keeps restarting in the middle of it, gave it a try and chatted with there tech support. Reinstalled Drivers etc. Im pretty sure they already know what's wrong with this but the problem is they still sell the Desktop with a broken bios. So I went down and they replace with a new one and the tech provided the info that yes the new one will be different and the games won't restart again. Bottomline, why would you sell a broken PC in the first place which they already know the issue? Such a waste of time, if you guys told me in the first place that its defective then I would have a different Desktop!! read more

It's hard to rate this store poorly because I love the the massive inventory of computers and tech. The technicians are all very professional and helpful. But 1 out of every 5 times I need something here there is an issue of some type and I've spent thousands of dollars here each year and a lot of time trying to correct issues but it doesn't seem to matter. It must be a management issue. So disappointing...UPDATE: during corona, you can buy items in advance and pick them up. I received an email that said to come pickup and of course the item wasn't ready. Next day came to attempt pickup again and 72 people waiting to do the same thing. I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN! Dropped off my working Macbook Pro for keyboard (upper shell) replacement ... $650 later they return a computer that doesn't work. Will not boot - repeatedly fails some "critical installation" ... Please note - It was working when I dropped it off. There were some keys in the upper left part of the keyboard which were sticking and I was told the only solution was $650 upper shell replacement. So I spend the $650 - pick up my computer today - get home to find it won't boot up. I call them - "Uh that's weird - we didn't do that" ... Thankfully I have a full backup that I am in the process of restoring as I type. I will NOT use them again. Beware! 7/28 Update - Micro Center is working with me. I will update this review as things progress. Thanks! 8/8 Update - Apple and Micro Center worked together to solve the issue. Apple agreed to provide the parts to Micro Center at no charge and asked me to pay the $150 for installation. I find this acceptable and the computer has been repaired - I will pick it up sometime today. I have updated my rating from 1 to 3 ... When things go well - anyone can be a 5 Star company ... It is only when problems arise that we get a chance to see the real company behind the company. I would have been much happier if Micro Center had reached out to Apple for this solution, but it was my call to Apple and Apple's work with Micro Center that brought this about. 8/9 Update - okay ... Micro Center just took this review to a 5. I went in to pick up my computer, fully prepared to pay the $150 labor that I had agreed to, only to be told NO CHARGE. I like computers for vidya and gaming. It takes me away from the dreariness called life and my questionable existence on this bleak planet. I don't buy computers, I build them. I had once heard "if you build it they will come". Well I build, but no one comes. To make up for this, I build super computers that can give me the instant satisfaction I demand. Just like my chicken tendies, I want my downloadies and gamies fast fast fast. I recently went to Micro Center for some stuff. I returned something and got a new thing. The dude that checked me out botched it and didn't give me my store credit. I realized this after I got home and was snacking on some tendies mommy had just made for me (along with come chocka milk). When I saw my credit didn't come through, my 40 year old body shook for fear of mommy finding out what I had done. I called Abdul over at Microcenter and he fixed it - made sure I got my credit. Then he emailed the receipt to me so I could show mommy before she beat me. In addition, I will say I love the sticker competition that goes on in the store. I ALWAYS get super duper service because those guys want to be my sticker guy. When I am going to build, I take my list and the dude gets me what I want. We went to Micro Center a few weeks ago for my son to build a PC with almost no hope that we'd get an RTX video card. Juan heard me talking to my son about this, and he came up and let us know we could get on a waitlist, then he went through all the items we'd build on the Micro Center PC builder. He recommended areas where we could scale back and things we should upgrade. I emailed him that afternoon, and a little over a week later got the email that the card was available. We went in during a busy Saturday and only waited a few minutes for Juan while he finished up with another customer. He then spent easily half an hour with us making recommendations and making sure we have everything. We're definitely coming directly to Juan in the future. read more

I bought my dell here and they really pushed the Eset antivirus software on me so I got it. That was a mistake. After my eset expired I didn't want to renew it, it does not let uninstall it and now the eset is like a virus. Every time I turn on my laptop a eset window pops up and says it's expired, I have uninstalled every eset thing on my laptop yet it doesn't go away ! Also this dell is terrible and I had to bring it in to get it looked at by the tech people shortly after buying this thing and they were no help at all ! Never buying a laptop from them again. I went in to try and salvage my old hard drive. Thor ended up helping me and fixing the issue with ease. On top of that he was considerate and didn't rush me even though the store was about to close. When I went in the next day to pick up my new USB drive, he alerted me when my repair was complete and the manager on duty thanked me for my business. Whenever I shop at Micro Center they have great customer service and have very competitive prices. It's great because they price match too. Highly recommend. read more

I was given a laptop by my father that it turned out I couldn't use (The specifications wouldn't run programs I need for school), so we went back to exchange it. When we got to the store, we were greeted by, apparently, the same man who sold my father the first computer. We made it clear that the computer was for me, and yet the salesman never once spoke to me directly about what sort of computer I needed- only to my father. The salesman showed my father a much more expensive computer, and convinced him to buy it, still, never asking me what I needed. I tried to interject, but I was always spoken over. Now that I have the computer at home, I can see that it's almost EXACTLY the same computer as the one we returned, in terms of specs, only this one has a brighter screen. Now my father is $400 poorer and I'm in the horrid situation of having to explain that even the second computer I was gifted will also not work for my needs. Clearly, this salesman only wanted to make a more expensive sale....perhaps they work on commissions? I have found no discernible way to contact anyone in management at Micro Center, so my review here will have to suffice. Whatever the case, it was wholly unacceptable, blatantly sexist behavior from the salesman. I feel completely ignored, and that my father was taken advantage of. I will NEVER be making any purchase from Micro Center again!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! UPDATE 3/16/22: I have emailed the company from the address they gave me here on Yelp, and I have not heard back from them. More terrible customer service. I would prefer Micro Center as a store where you could buy parts instead of repairs. To be fair, Micro Center is one of those stores where it has everything from printers, pcs, and other electronics which I love about, but the only thing that I am a little iffy on is their repair center. I wouldn't go there for repairs after what I have experienced with the diagnosis process. There was an employee there (who was super nice) that said that they would diagnose my pc in around 2-3 days, but in reality it took 10 days for them to text me back after I tried calling them and wouldn't pick up. Plus they missed a screw for my graphics card slot. I understand that sometimes that they might be busy with other repairs as well like I really do, but at least they could provide a text saying they are in process of diagnosis. Overall, the place is nice for buying parts and electronics, but I wouldn't recommend repairs. read more

I have reserved some parts on line and since working in a hospital was unable to pick them up due to my busy schedule. My order was cancelled and when I wanted to reserve it again I was asked to enter a credit card number as security deposit. Even with the card I was not able to place the order. The manager at the store stated he couldn't do anything about it. I had spent at list $4000 in the past at micro center. I really wanted to support brick and mortar stores, however after this experience I am going to give my business for companies with the best customer service. read more

I've stopped by this Micro Center location a few times over the years and have yet to be disappointed. From ten years ago building my first PC and getting parts here to re-doing it all this year. They take customer service very seriously and will help you find what you need and explain it to the best of their abilities. During COVID I felt very safe with consistent disinfecting, lots of plexiglass, and masks all around. Their prices are also a lot better than what you'd find on Amazon or Newegg, and the online reservation process to pick up in store is great. read more

They decided to open it one hour late first and then they decided not to open the shop at all! How many appointments you have, is it so hard to call your costumers to inform about last minute changes? I came here per the recommendation of the Apple Store in Clarendon. The hard drive on my MacBook Pro was acting wonky, and so I first took it to the Genius Bar to get it checked out. Apple did some basic diagnostics testing and said it was likely not the hard drive itself, but just something with the connection. They said I should take my computer to Micro Center, which was Apple Authorized. When I arrived at Micro Center I was a little annoyed they had to charge me for additional diagnostics testing when Apple had already told me what the problem was. I can get why they have to do this, but ultimately I paid Micro Center $40 for what the Apple Store told me for free. In any case, the whole process was painless and I got my laptop back within two days. The most painful part of the process was getting to the store via public transit. read more
