Took my laptop to TCS to repair the cracked screen (still functional, just couldn't see part of the screen), and they said they could fix it. After a few weeks, I called and they said my computer was now not turning on. I frequently had to call them to get updates on my laptop, and after months of no improvements, I asked for my laptop back to take it to another repair place. They returned it with no screen, the wrong screws in the base, and tried to hand me two different chargers before finding mine. My computer was unrepairable in that state, so I lost a $1,000+ computer from a cracked screen. I would have appreciated an honest approach by saying that they could not help fix it, but instead my computer was broken. They waived the service fee, which I appreciated, but this was trivial compared to the price of a new laptop. Edit: I have now included two photos of the card given to me in regard to the repair. My desktop was getting past its prime. I went to two computer stores to see what desktops they had as well as their services. TCS Computer was the third store I visited. I was warmly greeted by the manager and he asked me what I was interested in. After discussing what I mainly use my computer for, he recommended a Dell Intel 5 (which is what I was interested in). Although he didn't have one in the store, he ordered it for me and it arrived the next morning. I was asked to bring in my existing desktop to do the data transfer at lunchtime. Around 3:00 pm they called and said it was ready for pickup. I went in and was warmly greeted by Jon, the service manager. He showed me the display changes between the Windows 11 display vice my previous Windows display. He was very detailed and answered all of my questions. The total cost was very reasonable. I have used TCS Computer periodically for at least the last 35 years. They have always proven honest, reliable, and enormously helpful. They have always been willing to answer my questions and have never once tried to sell me something or perform repairs I did not need. I just found out that my present computer, which I built about 15 years ago, will not run Windows 11. Before moving to Washington DC, I have always taken my computers to be serviced at TCS in West Springfield, Virginia. They always provide the best in location and great customer service. Previously, I went to another computer store to get my computer fixed. My touchpad suddenly stopped working and my 'J' key was broken. That rival store told me it would take three days to repair since they would need to replace my entire laptop's keyboard. A week went by, and I got a call back from them saying their vendor does not supply them with the keyboard. You can imagine my outrage considering I went a week without my computer for no reason. Immediately after that call, I picked up my laptop from the store and drove right to TCS Computer. I told the Mazi about the issue, and he agreed to take a look at it. I expected to wait another week, so I left. Lo and behold, two hours later I get a call from him saying its all fixed. Not only did he fix it, but he completely cleaned my computer of any dust/debris! I was more than satisfied. He did not have to order an entire new keyboard as the other store claimed was "needed" and finished the job in less than a day! When entering, all you need to do is describe your problem and fill out a half-sheet document about your personal info (name, email, phone, etc.). Once done, you're free to go! I would highly recommend this place over others, simply for how fast the problem was resolved. read more

Brought two laptops in on 04/14/22. Of course they could not give me an estimate for repairs until they diagnosed the problem. Fyi, they have a minimum diagnostic fee of $80 and by filling out a service ticket you must agree to an initial fee of up to $180. Went to pick it up on 04/15 and wouldn't you know it, was conveniently charged the full $180. Diagnosis? It needed a new screen. Since diagnosing amounted to nothing more than connecting the computer to an external monitor and watching it, I considered this charge to be excessive. However, they did tell me there would be no further labor charge if I had them do the work. When I got there I discovered they forgot to replace four mounting screws for the hard drive. This may seem like a small item. But, it is an indication of sloppy workmanship. They replaced the screws and I had them order the new screen. The other laptop had a corrupted external hard drive. They kept it over the weekend to clone the data onto a new internal drive and install it. On 04/18 I went to pickup the second laptop, only to find four more missing screws for the external hard drive enclosure. After searching for an hour they were able to locate some screws that would fit. More sloppy work. For a new 500GB SSD drive, cloning the data and installing it, I was charged $160. I considered this to be somewhat reasonable. Brought it home only to find the new hard drive was also corrupted. Brought it back so they could attempt to repair the operating system. Since they already had my money, further repairs were given a low priority and put on hold. After almost a week later, they had to install an entirely new Linux os on it. Thereby erasing all the data and files. I told them this was not a problem since I had everything backed up. On 4/26 Mazi called to tell me it was ready. He said it would be no problem to pick it up the following day. I arrived at the store at 10:30 a.m. on 4/27 only to find they were closed. Went back home and called them several hours later. I was told that Mazi only worked a half day and the owner, Abi was on a remote call. After two weeks, four trips to their shop and $340 later, I can finally say the two laptops are working well. In all fairness, part of this can be attributed to their unfamiliarity with Linux operating systems. But they knew this up front and it should not be used as an excuse for shoddy repairs. Computer and laptop repair are highly competitive businesses in this area. There are numerous technicians who both work from home and have a physical store front. Before letting TCS do any repairs, I would highly recommend you try to self diagnose the problem first and then shop around. I would suggest looking at Washington Consumers Checkbook magazine, Yelp reviews and Google to research good computer technicians who charge reasonable prices. Unfortunately, I did find TCS in Consumers Checkbook and their glowing reviews did not reflect my experience. In hindsight, I should have just connected the one laptop to an external monitor myself to see if it worked, then replaced the screen. On the other one, I could have just reinstalled the OS and cloned the hard drive. Both of which are well within my skill level. read more

Really great place. My daughter broke off the plug on her laptop. The repair took about a week. The owners were friendly & explained about having to order a part. It was $160 (computer itself cost $300), but still cheaper than buying a new one I was very impressed they honored the Yelp checkin coupon when they knew nothing about it & the $ comes out of their pocket. Ever since I first went to TCS, years ago. to have my wife's old computer set-up migrated to her new computer, I have used their services every time I have needed work which I could not do myself. The latest issue, very recently, was getting my computer to boot...it had somehow been locked by a software issue which I could just not resolve. They had it ready the next day and it's as good as new. In every case I have received friendly, professional and satisfactorily quick service. I have never felt overcharged and I have never had to take the computer back because of some issue they had not addressed. They are only a couple of miles from my house, which is very convenient, but if they were all the way across the county I would make the drive...they are worth it. read more

I had some liquid spill on my keyboard. When I went in, the guy who helped was nice and helpful. They told me it would be 5-7 days (not business days mind you) to get my laptop fixed. They had to order a new keyboard to install. It costed 123 including tax. Pretty reasonable considering it was my mistake spilling the liquid on my laptop. The laptop works just fine now. MAC DESKTOP I bought my MAC desktop about 3.5 years ago from the APPLE store in Fair Oaks Mall, VA. Since the very beginning, I have had difficulties with my mouse and keyboard. The mouse was jagged, would stopped working intermittently, and sometimes would not work at all. The keyboard would not work many times. This chronic problem continued for 3.5 years. I have taken my MAC many times to the APPLE store, consults on the phone, etc. APPLE did not know what was wrong with my computer. They kept insisting I buy a new mouse. Three mouses later, my MAC still did not work. In fact, nothing worked properly at all! The problem got worse and worse. I got more frustrated with APPLE I finally was able to locate Customer Service for APPLE. A very nice woman named Carla, did try to help, but unfortunately, she said to take it back or get a new computer!!! My computer would probably cost $1,000 or more to fix, I should get another one. My thoughts: No thank you!!!! I decided to go to an unauthorized dealer in my local area. I found TCS Computer, in West Springfield, VA. Mozzie, the Computer Expert there, fixed my computer in one day!!! I asked what was wrong with my Computer. He said the bluetooth in the computer was not working. He replaced that device. I visited TCS because I need data retrieved off a Hard Drive. After I check the posted reviews, I decided that the glowing reviews they received were probably slightly over exaggerated. Let me be the first to say that the reviews are right on and if anything, understated. I went in after unsuccessful retrieval by another repair service, and Abi and his lovely wife were friendly, courteous and attentive. He left what he was doing and attended to my needs, correctly diagnosed the situation and within minutes, he had started the process and told me it would take only a couple of hours. Other repair place took 2 weeks, and still didn't get what I wanted done. I also had him check my other computer, and he found the problem, and fixed it immediately at no charge. After each purchase, they have been patient with my endless questions and have spent hours making sure that I'm comfortable with the equipment. Last month I was in need of urgent service on our badly infected PC and laptops, but due to illness, I was unable to take them to their store.
