Came to your location from Indiana as my normal stores are chicago and Westmount, normally great experience , never again will I send some one to that store I will tell all my friends ,customers as well college's to stay away order from amazon,Newegg, ect... the type of disrespect in that store and non- professional /training as well people is a disgrace to microcenters complete name and purpose to help a customer or people. I would never expect such utterly disregard and disrespect towards customers I watch , seen ans experienced in that store. I am half tempted to not use microcenter no long due to this situation. I came 7 plus hours to mn. To help a personal friend whom is special needs to get his computer back going after being taking advantage of by other computer company's in area and online. The Apple store had run a full diagnostic on our MacBook AIr and told us we needed the battery replaced. But since it was six years old they no longer carried the battery that was needed so they said to check Micro Center. The Genius at Apple said the cost should be around $129. So off we went to Micro Center. The guy at the repair counter told us there would be a $39 diagnostic fee so they could tell us what was wrong. I told them how we just had come from the Apple Store and we simply needed the battery replaced. When we asked what that would cost he told us it would be between $200 and $300, but they couldn't say for sure until after they run their own diagnostics (for $39). I'm an IT guy and knew there was no way this should cost between $200 and $300. Checking out some other local places that sell batteries and repair devices found one just a few blocks away that charges $129 without any diagnostic fees. read more

Sold us a computer that they had added parts that were known to be junk and had been recalled, returned the machine, got a replacement, same junk parts, same crashing issues. Called the manager, Brian, was told that they knew about the parts being junk and to bring it in, that it would be fixed in 5-6 days. We are now more than 3 WEEKS LATER, can barely get any info, no one returns calls, and now they want $150 to clone my drive even though this WHOLE issue is from them using faulty parts. Abhorrent customer service. Starting to think they lost or broke my machine the way they are dodging calls. Been without my computer nearly a month and nearly zero updates unless we hounded customer service, they kept passing on the same nonsense message from the "tech". We were helped by Matt tonight. Not only did we come in fairly close to close, but we were also not very knowledgeable in PC building. Matt jumped to help us right away when he noticed we were questioning amongst ourselves on what to get, and WOW. We could NOT have been more satisfied or grateful to have him being the one to help us through our PC build journey. He helped us get quality parts for our budget and explained everything very thoughtfully and thoroughly for beginners. I had a Update issue with Windows 11 with a new computer I purchased, once it updated it didn't power up. I brought it back and then immediatly gave me a new machine. I took it home and did the update once again on the new machine and I had a issue with the USB port. I went back the next day and they didn't have any new machines. The sales Representative, Vlad, took my machine and spent the next 90 minutes uninstalling and reinstalling and updating my Windows 10 back to the original form. There is no option to leave no stars, so one it is. Although I understand that we are in the middle of a pandemic and patience is important, so it is getting accurate information. When I tried to coordinate a trip to the store to exchange a battery, I was told that on the phone, via text, and online that they were unable to order the battery unless I come into the store so they can order the right part. I wonder why would that be the case if a battery can be accurately anywhere else and we are after all, in the middle of a pandemic trying to avoid this type of unnecessary encounters. I drove over with the expectation that someone would do just what I was told: Open the computer take a look at the part number, order it, and come by when the part comes in to install it on the spot. Straight forward enough. Well, that was not the case. They now said that they needed to run diagnostics and keep the computer for 5 days before ordering the part, even though I told them that the decision was made already by the manufacturer to replace the battery at no cost. Then, after the 5 days, they would order the battery, adding another 2-5 days for delivery. Finally, with battery and computer ready to meet, more delay. I would have to enter the queue until someone can open and replace the battery. The theory did not match reality and depending on who you speaking to, you get a different story. In the end, I got the equivalent of thoughts and prayers and bare with us, which is useless when dealing with a problem. If you want to deal with a business that cares about you as a customer, spare yourself the disappointment of shopping at MicroCenter and go elsewhere. read more

I've never been to a Micro Center before. At first, I was a little overwhelmed when walking in, but the manager pointed us in the direction we needed to go. This store has lots of inventory and good prices. We got what we need. I'll probably go back. The only thing is, do women actually work at this store? It was a little strange only seeing men in blue shirts and khakis working there. I mean dozens of clones. It is very hard to find help in some of the departments. I understand when it is busy. You need to do your own research before going to micro center to buy anything. I do think they have a great selection for pc. Attempted Scam or incompetence?! My MacBook Air wouldn't turn on. I purchased the computer second hand at Tech Mate, but Micro Center was closer so I brought it there. The process was typical, I paid the fee for a diagnostic and got notified about 24 hours later that my logic board needed to be replaced and it would cost $540. I purchased the computer for $500 so I declined having it repaired. I took the computer to Tech Mate to get a second opinion and it turns out, it was not the logic board, but a short circuit on the motherboard and it was an easy, much cheaper fix. Tech Mate even honored my warranty despite it being over 12 months since purchase. I would be VERY WARY of taking electronics to Micro Center as they either have workers who don't know what they're doing when it comes to diagnostics, or they're looking to take advantage of people who aren't as tech savvy as them. Ben S. helped me diagnose the issues with my laptop - my camera was not working properly. He did a number of checks and finally determined that I did not have the correct driver loaded. In addition, he installed HP Support Assistant on my laptop so that I would always have the most current downloads loaded. Although the lines were long and the store was very busy on a weekend, I was assisted fairly quickly and was out of there within an hour. read more

Is this how customer service works? If so, why you leave phone number on the website. Just say clearly on the website that: We are busy and if you want to check on something, you must go to the store and check in person. I recently reserved a new monitor online but had a brain fart when I got home. I noticed that the monitor was only 1080p (instead of 1440) and thought I wasn't paying very close attention when I made my reservation. I assumed that a 1440p version didn't exist. I was looking at a Micro Center ad today and saw my monitor in the 1440 version, then checked my receipt. There was a mix-up, and I had been given the wrong monitor at the reservations desk. Austin at Micro Center helped me exchange monitor I had been using for two weeks for the correct one. This was a completely easy and painless experience thanks to unique serial numbers on items and great customer service. read more

We went to see if they could fix our screen on our laptop computer and they said it would cost more than we paid for it. So we went back into the store with the laptop and asked the salesman to see if he could get us the same type or laptop with a touch screen so he should us a few and we decided on one we liked. He was trying so hard to get us to sign up for extended warranties and antivirus that when he went back and got us the laptop and escorted us the check out. We got home after driving 63 miles only to find out that the laptop he sold us had no touch screen. That was the only thing we were very up front about what we wanted to have and he could not even get that right. Then we called and asked for a manager to call us back and never received a call back, also left a complaint and message on their Facebook page and instead of addressing the complaint or reaching out to me they deleted the complaint. I had to come in for advice on what my desktop needed and look at different prices products etc.. I was very happy with the service that I received and left happy with my products. HOWEVER. Upon checkout, I wanted to price check as the total seemed unusually high. The manager (or whoever this was, he was shadowing on what i assume was a new cashier) started with the letter "V" made condescending comments about the products that Eric picked out for me and would not answer my question. Maybe he was trying to be helpful and find products that did fit my budget- but I wasn't asking that. After minutes of runaround he finally told me why my total was high. (Taxes and another product necessary for installation- why is this so hard to tell me?) Anyways. I am very happy with Eric but the checkout experience sucked. I have been reading the negative reviews and I'm baffled. I go to microcenter very very often, maybe like 2 times a week and I live about 25 mins away. I usually go with a buddy of mine. This store is one of my favorite places in this world. The amount of support and help I receive is phenomenal. I also have they're micro center credit and its by far my favorite card I own. Wish the card did have a little more incentives then the 2 it has, maybe like a special promo for card holders would be nice. These people are very smart and if you respect them they will go the extra mile to help. Great customer service, great people, and great products. I have been there few days ago because I dropped my Lenovo laptop and wasn't able to power it up. I was able to speak with someone after a while but he didn't seem to understand much of computer hardware so he called someone else from the back. This guy had his shirt with fresh grease stains, like he was eating soup up until a minute earlier. He said that it was impossible to find out what was wrong without a $290 motherboard diagnosis. Apparently the $39 diagnostic was far from being sufficient. He then I went back home and called another repairing service. They replaced the AC jack, replaced another piece and within three days I got my laptop back spending just $120. read more

Even though I still prefer Micro Center to Best Buy, their customer service could definitely improve. And for me, I don't ask for too much. This electronics store has a legion of high school and college students, yet, they still -- at least during the times I've been -- fail to adequately assist people like me that need help. During my search for printer toner, I saw a staff member that literally just paced down and back in an aisle so he could look like he was busy. Lol. There was a moment during my search where we exchanged glances. He paused for a good five seconds, and then he kept on pacing. What. The. Heck. I also hovered around the newest PCs and tablets trying to check them out. And despite having several employees within the vicinity, none of them tried to talk to me. In fact, they actually walked away like a soapy finger in a bowl full of water topped with pepper. This location has taken a downward turn. While it really helps that they finally got the signage up to show you what is in each aisle, it is still difficult to find things in this store. Sometimes you can get someone to help, sometimes notsomuch. What really irks me though is the line to pay for your item(s). Today, during a non-peak time the line to pay was 15 minutes long. This is enough to drive me to shop elsewhere. If management doesn't have enough cashiers on now, it will be absolute hell come the holidays. Maybe 1.5 stars but no more. There is a large selection BUT no help from the staff. I only go there when absolutely necessary and usually end up walking out after the lack of assistance. Stopped by today and asked for a memory card for a DVR. Was told what aisle upon which it was located. Not "Let me show you where they are. Do you have any questions about the different models?" etc. Salesman was to interested in getting back to his conversation with the other employees. Lucky enough my husband knows his computers and what he needs there otherwise we'd be fresh out of luck when it comes to customer service there. I will give them some credit and say that they do have a few associates that know their stuff while the rest are there for a paycheck. The layout is definitely confusing. If I were to go there myself, I'd be lost! I don't really remember any signs...you just have to know what to look for. And the last time we went, all the sales associates were swarming the big screens because the Twins were playing the Yankees...I think it was and not one would force themselves to help anyone. They actually pulled up chairs to watch. We were amused with how the game was so magnetic to all these employees. That was a turn off for us and we left. I was referred to this place and I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised. From the outside it almost looks a little K-Martish or somewhat ghetto, but that's just OK with me as long as they have the goods inside. My Mom taught me to never judge a book by it's cover. So, I go ahead and enter. Low and behold, as soon as you walk in the door you realize fairly quick that they have anything and practically everything computer related that you'd ever possibly need. Now I had a certain amount of money to spend on a new desktop computer. I wanted to go as pimpin' as possible within my budget, I just didn't think I'd find half of what I found. So I browsed for about 20 minutes, and one sales associate came over and introduced himself and said to feel free to grab him when and or if, I had any questions. This was nice, no annoying sales dude trying to sell me whatever he possibly could, instead he let me be until I needed some assistance, which I finally did and he was very helpful. From all the previous shopping I'd done, I really figured I'd come out of this place with nothing. Instead I ended up coming out Micro Center with the computer of my dreams along with a huge monitor for way less than I would have paid anywhere else. I stayed within my budget even after purchasing a 2 year full warranty, plus a new UPS battery backup and some new speakers. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs anything computer related, PC related anyways. Weather it be some cables, a hard drive, speakers, printers, memory or a new motherboard I think this is the place to come for a decent deal. I didn't really check out their Mac section but it looked like they had some. I hate how pushy the sales staff is. They always have to put their sticker on whatever you buy so they get commission, even if all they did was pull something off a shelf sitting right behind them. I totally understand wanting your commission when you help, and it's a total bonus if you didn't have to do much, but when you make me wait a minute while you get your sticker out, you lose points...and I take your sticker off my $190 item when I walk away. Also, it never ceases to amaze me how freaking understaffed this place ALWAYS is. I had to wait an hour in line to return something recently. I didn't mind too much, since I was on the clock for work. :P BUT STILL. Today, they had three cashiers on duty, one of whom was dressed in a sweatshirt and ill fitting wifebeater, with tattoos on her neck and a facial piercing. I'm all about tattoos and piercings in the workplace, but when EVERYONE ELSE is dressed in business attire (slacks, blouses, dress shirts) it looks a little weird to have one person dressed scrubby. They get two stars based on the fact that their prices are normally a little lower than Best Buy's. If anything else sullies my experiences here, they WILL get bumped down to one. :/ read more

the only reason i give micro center two stars is the cost of it's items which on the flip side,,,,like they say, you get what you pay for. I bought a sony viao computer which i had to return followed by another computer which i returned. 3rd time was a charge as this laptop DELL is going strong. My roomate has similar issues having to return a computer the 2nd one he got went out for repair. After a month they called to say they "misplaced" it and was just now sending it out. I called the store manager to complain. The acting manager said he was not in. I then gave him my info and told him to tell the manager i was filing a better business bureau complaint and also one with the state attorney generals office. I had a call back within the hour. I let the manager know what had happened to me and my roomate as well. I also told him i noticed people in the repair line that have had similar issues and that their store has had complaints with the BBB in the past. After much more of my bitching and me saying i was going forward with a complain with the attorney generals office my roomate was offered a pic of laptop he wanted and a $300.000 store credit. I also asked what kind of employees they have working there that they misplace a computer for a month and NOT EVEN NOTICE ITS SITTING AROUND? i then said i didn't feel comfortable with an exchange as there could be further damage to my laptop as it was "misplaced" somewhere in their back room. I said "how do i not know there's further damage? Sometimes it takes a smart consumer to NOT get screwed by a business. read more

Stopped in to the St Louis Park Micro Center two weeks ago to have our laptop repaired. After a chaotic attempt to get some help checking in our computer, we were told the turnaround was 3-4 days for repairs. Fine. The repair guy then jumped to helping another customer before finishing our work request. Finally, the clerk told us he "had gotten three hours of sleep last night" and had to be reminded what we needed for our repair. Wow, how's that for customer service? Unfortunately when we went to pick-up the computer a week later, the experience was again disorganized chaos at best. Maybe a manager or supervisor should wake up and realize the check-in/check-out system needs a serious overhaul. There are plenty of successful, customer service oriented businesses for reference. Every time I go here I'm hoping for a good experience but once again you've let me down. Just awful employees and an overall dreadful experience generally speaking. Too many salespeople are hiding themselves away in the little corners of the store and the rest walk past you like they have something to do but are really just eager to find a hiding spot of their own. Once again I'm home with the product that I was specifically directed to purchase by "Micah R" as "it was ready to go with my Macbook, no formatting required." What does it say when I open the box? Staff are generally well informed and helpful, but are willing to leave you alone if you know what you are looking for. Prices are extremely competitive. If you give them you address you will get on the mailing list and get a "deals flier" about every other day, which is either quite cool or very annoying. Either way: recycling. However, Micro Center provides low prices that beat online stores' prices. Superior customer service; effortless returns. I went to Micro Center (Minnesota store) two weeks ago with the goal of buying an $800 gaming monitor. I was made to wait 40 minutes as their associates were busy helping others. No problem. I waited. When my turn came, I asked the associate some questions about the monitor. He looked at me then said he is very busy for me. I was so offended, I left the store immediately. But being that they are the only one to carry the monitor I wanted locally, I went back the next weekend. This time, they jacked up the price by over $100 because the sales manager told me that monitors are now like toilet paper because of the virus. I told him what happened last week that prevented me from buying the monitor at the "normal" price they had advertised for weeks. He didn't seem to care. If I was coming in for a $200 monitor, it wouldn't bug me so much. But I spent almost $4,000 a little more than a month ago at this store building two very powerful gaming computers. Now they are too busy for me and can't even be bothered to sell me an $800 monitor. Just today, I looked online to see if I can just buy the damn monitor online and pick it up without having to talk to anyone. And they have yet again, jacked up the price. It feels like price gouging to me, but what do I know. We have a national emergency and they jack up the price. I have been going to their store for years. Not anymore. read more
