All I can say is that this concept for food, fellowship and carry out is the best! The variety of food is just amazing. The staff are friendly and very helpful with your selections and the portions of food that is given with your order can last for two full meals. You can eat in or carry out. While you are waiting, you can order drinks and watch the TV for sports games and the music is just enough to keep you in the groove. If you want a nice treat, help yourself. Very little here is homemade ...they're just buying stuff up from the grocery store, slicing it up into pieces and then charging you triple for it. The green beans, strawberry bar cake, sweet potato pie etc are all just grocery store items that they purchased and then sliced and packaged themselves. Nothing there is actually homemade. read more

Had the jungle juice (alcoholic drink ) not sure what's in it but it's sweet and strong . Yes this location serves alcohol For my entree I had the blackened shrimp tacos , let me say they are exceptional . Nice seat on the shrimp and then the combination of savory and tart , they have pocketed onions and some kind of cream sauce and shredded cabbage , just a great combo . UPDATED**** First time here. Couldn't decide so I was recommended this dish. It has pork ribs, and friend chicken with 2 of their many sides. Everything was well seasoned. The fried chicken was outstanding. The reason why it's a 3 to me it's because the sides were kinda cold and the potatoes could have been cooked longer. After the manager reached out to me about my review he made sure that mid Atlantic took care of me and I went back in and had another try of the food and it was perfect. I can't find one complain. On our way down to check out the University of Maryland with our son we decided to grab dinner before heading to the hotel. As usual, checked Yelp and found Mid-Atlantic Seafood with a ton of great reviews...so we stopped. It wasn't a restaurant like we'd expected (I actually didn't READ the reviews, LOL), but when we saw the offerings we knew we'd like it. It took us a minute to figure out how and what to order but we followed along and got in line. My son ordered the Salmon meal with potatoes and mac n cheese, Wifey ordered the Mahi Mahi fish tacos, and I got the Catfish dinner with mixed veggies and green beans with mushrooms. I also ordered three bbq ribs to try them and we got some cornbread. To wash it down we had a Sams and a Yuengling. After a short wait they called us up to grab our food and I was shocked at how much we got to eat...if fact nine of us finished our meals as much as we tried. My son liked and said the seasoning was excellent. Wifey's tacos were awesome-the Fish was fried, but not really breaded. My catfish was the best catfish I've had in 35 years...my friend's parents grew up in Georgia and she'd fry up catfish for us every couple weeks. So.damn.good! The ribs were cooked perfectly, but too saucy for my liking. All of the sides (especially the Mac and cheese) were really good. I got a ton of veggies and they weren't mushy or bland...very good. So this place is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth a stop to try it out. Not fancy, great tasting food, pretty fast service. If I lived here I'd be a regular. read more

So I am giving this restaurant 3 stars mainly bc of the atmosphere. I went on a Friday night and honestly it was quite chaotic. Firstly the parking is insane, I literally had to park around the corner. Once you go in there's multiple lines and it's hard to differentiate from the bar and the food line as there's tons of people in both. Once you do make it to the food line it goes slowly before you place your order, then you have to wait a good amount of time before the food is ready. I will say once you get the food it is quite delicious. If I were rating the food only I would give it 4 stars, you just have to go through a lot to get it. I got the shrimp, scallops and fish. One more thing to note is it all came fried which I didn't expect, so if you want it broiled that's something you will want to let them known before ordering. MAJOR REVISIONS: So because of my previous review the owner of this restaurant reached out to me and invited me and some friends in for an elite dinner. He showed us an amazing time and we probably tried almost everything on the menu. Also, we went on a Thursday night and it was not nearly as overwhelming as going on a Friday. We tried the crab legs, which were super fresh and easy to eat. The manager even gave us a lesson on how to eat them food properly and he told us if they don't have a snap to them then they aren't fresh or have been over cooked. Based on my friend's recommendation, we came to this restaurant. Due to the Covid situation, there is no dine-in nor outdoor seating. The only option is take out We ordered seafood combinations: oysters, scallops and shrimps. All of them were fresh and prepared very nicely. Portions are decent and price is reasonable. Was looking for a good seafood meal after a long flight to Baltimore. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We didn't expect it to be such a hit. This place seems to be a locals favorite. Great place for seafood / soul food at reasonable costs. There's plenty of tables and seats, which makes it convenient for groups. They have an extensive menu which made it difficult to decide what to order. The cashier was nice enough to be patient with us and give recommendations. It also happened to be HH, so we took advantage of their oysters and drink specials. I got the grilled shrimp and scallop, which comes with rice and veggies. My only feedback was for there to be more scallops. My platter had tons of shrimp, but 4-5 scallops. Others in my group got a fried fish platter which looked good. Unique concept - upscale cafeteria style with a serious bar. Choices are overwhelming...fortunately I stayed (mostly) in my WW lane but had extra points stashed for dessert. Got 1/2doz fresh BluPoint Oysters, 1/2lb of steamed shrimp, crab cake with a double order of roasted Brussels Sprouts and finished with a slice of coconut cake. Everything was fresh and delicious. Extremely crowded on Saturday evening. I haven't been to Mid-Atlantic in 5+ years and it will be a while before I return unless its Mon-Thur. Waited 20 mins for a fried fish platter. Not for me, it really doesn't matter how the food tastes my anxiety went through the roof - it was wayy too crowded. They sell drinks and have a full bar that was also crowded. This seems to be a popular restaurant. I've been to the one in Hyattsville numerous times before. They have a lot of seafood specials. I tried the Red snapper fish. It was good. I didn't care for the greens. I don't like vinegar in my greens. The mac and cheese was just ok. The crabcake was a little salty. The shrimp and Scallops was good and the brussel sprouts. I tried the carrot cake which was good as well. I probably would return for their fish specials. I enjoyed the fried fish. I do want to try the rockfish. I couldn't give it more stars due to the over salted crabcake. I will continue to get my crabcakes at G&M. They never disappoint me. I did order all my food to go. read more

Large portions and reasonable prices! I was visiting family in the area and this restaurant was right across the street from the hotel where we stayed. It just so happened that my cousin had purchased a pan of potato salad for our family gathering and recommended the restaurant. We decided to eat there for dinner. There was soooo much tasty food, all made from scratch like grandma's kitchen. The collards were the best I've had in a long time. There were no complaints about the food. I came here for dinner not knowing what to expect. From the outside it doesn't look like much. However, once you get through the doors, wow! There is a lot to choose from on their very expansive menu! I ordered the stuffed salmon with candied yams and collard greens. The meal also came with a slice of cornbread. And the portions are huge too! I was pleasantly surprised to receive a free "adult beverage" just for checking in. (Thanks Yelp Elite team!) I also ordered a slice of their strawberry shortcake. I figured go big or go home! Everything tasted great! The salmon was stuffed with lump crab meat and had a mix of red and green peppers on top. The greens were good, better with hot sauce (which I mixed with mambo sauce). Even the yams tasted good despite the fact that they werent prepared the way I'm used to having them. This is easily the carry-out "go-to" when we can't decide what's to eat. IMHO, this place has come a long way from what it was years back. In the past year or so, I've been coming here and the food and selection has improved. They also have a pretty decent bar area with happy hour specials - it's nice to sit and have a drink while we wait for our food. And, if that drink isn't enough, there is a full blown liquor store connected to the restaurant next door (it's not as bad as you're thinking!). There is a ton of menu items which can make it difficult to decide what to get, especially if you are indecisive like myself. Many of the menu options are already prepared and can be seen in a buffet style setting that is served by staff. The other half of the menu are made-to-order items. My fiance's usual meal is fried catfish, yams, and mac and cheese. My favorite meal is the grilled shrimp & scallops, rice and a side of grilled brussel sprouts. If I want to cut out the carbs, I omit the rice and get another vegetable, which they have plenty of options. If you are getting made-to-order menu items, there is a little bit of a wait because this spot is always packed. However, it's worth is as the prices are super reasonable and the food is good! Keep in mind, I am measuring this on a carry-out scale, not a 5 star seafood restaurant :) read more

I'll explain why... 1) V-V-Value Seriously, I tried the $18.99 for CRAB STUFFED SALMON that's big enough to feed a family along with 2 sides (I had the Brussels sprouts with Roasted Potatoes - so yummy and healthy and this was my favorite thing that I tried here during my very first visit.) I mean if you're like me and find yourself too busy to cook sometimes or if you're like a big family this would be a perfect dish to try, along with their other smaller version which is $14.99, and they have a ton of other stuffed seafood options too. THE PORTIONS ARE HUMONGO and don't worry about leaving without feeling full...you won't... Also $8 1/2 dozen oysters hello?? I'm from the DC area and if you want to find oysters this price you've gotta go on specific days, during specific hours, etc. for oyster specials but this place sells them at that price, every. day. Menu wins when it comes to getting seafood bang for your buck (and shuck, pun very intended here.) Pictured also are their Fish Tacos w/ flour tortillas and they are pretty good. 2) Taste? The seafood here is fresh and you can certainly taste it as they source directly from Maryland waters. I would say that I would like to see some Cajun seasonings (I'm a lover of that Old Bay, oh man) but overall a very solid seafood experience awaits should you make a stop here. I do not have any pictures from Mid Atlantic, but I go there often! I even have a cousin who lives in Williamsburg, VA that requests I stop there to get him food before I make the trek down there from Maryland. I typically get the chicken salad sandwich with two sides or the grilled, seasoned shrimp with yams and crinkles fries. They have great juices, fruit and smoothies. The food is reasonably priced, especially for the quality. The atmosphere is great and the service is fast. It's a very open layout with self-seating and it makes for a perfect spot to chill and eat or to go on a quick and cute little date. They also have quick access kiosks for ordering if you don't want to talk to a human. I would totally recommend this location. Things to consider: - Location: It's on a very busy main road/street. It can be difficult to get in and out of the parking lot, depending on which direction you are heading from or going to. read more

Great place! We went there specifically for the fish subs after reading on NextDoor that this place had the best ones in all of Laurel. That turned out to be very true! The subs were also huge! Very generous portions. The place is also very clean. They have a very friendly employee at the door directing people to come in at certain intervals and making sure they exit through a different door. This is to cut down on traffic and too many people in the restaurant at once. They are doing their best to keep patrons safe during this pandemic. I also stopped in to the liquor store that shares the space with them. It was also very clean. They have a wonderful selection of alcohol to choose from and the man that was working there was very nice. Wait time was 40 minutes for salmon and 2 readymade sides. The worst part was the bug I found in my kale. The bug seemed as if it was cooked in the food. Which was totally unacceptable. Not to mention I paid $33 for my meal. Beyond disgusting. I threw the food away. Will not be returning. This place is nasty, it's remodel to make it seem clean but apparently it is not. read more

I'm so mixed about a rating The ridiculousness of ordering food I order doordash or pick up same sandwich every single time , it has mustard and mayonnaise. I go into the store, stand in line order the same sandwich and am told we don't put the mustard and mayo on the sandwich. I show her the 35 doordash orders, with the condiments on the sandwich. Great fried fish and pork chops, sides can be hit or miss sometimes, but cabbage is always great. Sweet tea also pretty good. Service can be a little slow when busy, but not to outrageous, well worth the wait. read more

I have seen the light! Brian, the owner reached out to me and asked me to come back so he could show me how excellent the food and service should be on any given day. I don't usually reply to such requests, but I sensed a sincerity that I don't see often in upper management. I scheduled a day and time I would return and I missed it. I got caught up in E City and I assumed all was lost, but alas Brian reached out again and I went later that evening. The service was fast, the welcome was warm, and the food was delicious! Brian and a fellow yelper talked to me for several minutes about food, families, favorite vacation spots, and favorite foodie locations in Maryland. It was a pleasure meeting both gentlemen and I will certainly be back week after week. The food: I got to try the Po boy which was to die for...the shrimp were cooked to perfection and there was a sauce that was flavorful and tasty. I tried the salmon cakes which melted in my mouth. I really liked the size and textures of the salmon cakes. The peace de resistance was the she crab soup that was stuffed full of crab and a seasoning out of this world. Prepandemic I would venture to this restaurant for the happy hour food specials. The food is still stellar. I ordered the fried trout with kale and cabbage. I also paid the additional 50 cents for the cornbread. If I'm going to have soul food I need the cornbread. The fish was fried fresh and was delish. The kale took my by surprise because the flavor really blew me away! The kale was sautéed and flavorful. You could taste the asian spices and each spice was intriguingly delightful.
