Wow!!! Is really all I can say about this place. If you've been here before then you know exactly what I mean if you haven't then you really need to treat yourself. Yesterday I was part of a private tasting and everything that I tried was great (see pics). Everything is made fresh to a very high standard. The sides themselves can stand alone as a meal. I've been coming to Mid Atlantic Seafood for a while now but it's one of those places you don't want everyone to know about because then they'll know your *spot* Great place for pre-gaming! Lunch or dinner. Myself and a friend were given the VIP treatment by the business manager, Brian! Everything as usual was on point! Rainbow shots! How they do that tho?! Pineapple upside down martini, just delicious! Salmon balls, so much tastier than crab balls & made with real salmon! No can! The fried shrimp is beer battered with Blue Moon. Every thing is made fresh daily. Oh & my personal favorite, the Mac & Cheese Brian told us they are getting ready to open up a lounge on one side of the restaurant. Anticipate a wait when you come here. Whether it be for the long line of customers or food prep. The set up is akin to a liquor store with a restaurant on site. Say what you will....it works. Chicken, fish, rib options and plenty of sides. They make smoothies here as well. I'll have to try one on my next visit. They have a parking lot but time of day will factor into how easy it is to park. Very spacious inside with tables that can accommodate 4 people or move them together to fit larger groups. They do their best to keep the line and orders moving. Pretty chill employees that don't mind making you think every order needs some dessert. read more

The crab cakes are ok, but I think the rigatoni crab cakes in PA area is better than this. But the sides are not that good. My daughter and husband don't like their collard green and Mac and cheese. The teriyaki salmon tastes quite good. They gave quite a volume in the to go box, but given the prices I think it's still expensive. I'd rather them charge lower prices with less food in plate. Too much food in one meal in my opinion. It can make people overeat. read more

This place is great. First time experience. Upon entering, I checked in and used the Yelp app coupon to get a free soda. I ordered the 2lbs snow crab with 8 hush puppies for $50, fried calamari, and four side veggies. Crabs were fresh. Fried calamari was ok but not great, only because it was served in a covered To-Go container so the hotness killed the crispiness. We got there before the rush so it was nice. They have a lot of options to pair with your seafood and a full bar to order whatever alcoholic beverage or just walk next door to the liquor store. Love this place! Went to Mid-Atlantic Seafood for the first time yesterday and ordered the shrimp and cheese grits, which they just started selling that day. May I be the first to rave about them on Yelp - the best shrimp and grits I've ever had which are sure to become a staple. Had to order them again today before my trip back to NYC. Perfectly seasoned with the right amount of everything. Can now see why the parking lot is always packed. Delicious food at great prices (great salmon cake sandwich, too), select liquors sold by the bottle, ready to go drinks and dessert slices. Says a lot about the place when manager Brian, who handed me my order, told me about the love and work that went into perfecting the shrimp and grits recipe - and it shows. He's a cool guy and has great energy, as does the rest of the friendly staff. read more

Wow! Truly a hidden gem in Laurel. Whenever I'm in the area, I want to come here every time for bomb seafood & delicious drinks for such a great price. I'm a huge salmon eater so whenever I go out to eat, I prepared to spend $20 on a salmon dish. Totally not the case here when my mom and I came and got the salmon dinner for half the price. We received a wonderfully large salmon cut with two sides. One of the food preps scooped us the wrong side at first, but he was SO KIND when we told him it was incorrect and scooped us a new side right away. My parents are really picky eaters but they love eating here! Finally a place to take my family out :) My dad is a huge fan when he received a free beer with our Yelp check-in. I came back again to try more things on the menu and the LARGE oysters are to die for every time. Best place for oysters I've encountered in Maryland yet. They're huge and sweet! Along with that, the crab legs are big and juicy, filled with crab meat. I went to other seafood places recently and their crab legs do not compare. Definitely do not skip out on the fresh seafood here! To add - one more food item I enjoy would be the fried shrimps. Thinking they were like any were like any other place.. I was wrong and it was a wonderfully filled stuffed shrimp. Absolutely amazing combo! Last, if you wanna get your moneys worth for alcohol. This is it. The drinks are so well crafted by experienced bartenders. They know how to make a drink taste like juice yet still having a good amount of alcohol. What I can't wrap my head around is that the PRICES are even better! Gotta taste these drinks for yourself and grab a bottle on your way out next door! My first visit to this place was a thumbs up. I pass by the one in Laurel often but never bothered to stop in. I went there after 7 pm on a Saturday and the line was a bit long. That didn't sway me. Actually, I like going into restaurants where there are a lot of people. It means they must be doing something right. I ordered the baked red snapper with 2 sides - cheesy broccoli and green beans and a piece of cornbread. The snapper is a bit more expensive than some of the other fish options. I paid just under $19 for the meal. My food was quite good. I thought it would only be one piece of fish. Once I got home and started eating, I was surprised that I had two pieces of baked red snapper. They pile on the sides too! My to-go plate had some weight to it. I was well pleased. I didn't even eat all of my food. I had enough for the next day. I think I'll be back to try more things on the menu. read more

I've never eaten in, but have gotten delivery a number of times. I don't feel I can adequately give it five stars since I've never experienced the service and ambiance. However, I have never had a bad meal here. The options are extensive, and every single thing I've tried is delicious. Mid Atlantic Seafood has been around for a while but the ones that existed on my side of town were carry out only. This spot right here.....right here, here takes carry out and kicks it up to the 27th power!!! Their menu circles dang near the whole front of the restaurant. If you want something that's not on their menu then it's probably some imaginary food that you just dreamed up. You can order at the counter, order at the express kiosk or call your order in over the phone. If you sit at the Bar....yessssssss......this carry out spot has a full service bar, you can order your drinks and food from the bartender. A lot of their specialty drinks are already pre-made but they do have a large liquor selection if you just want something on the rocks. The drinks are strong and cheap. They like serving water glass size cocktails. I went with Jungle Juice (you only need one) and the Blueberry lemonade. I wrapped up the whole experience with their signature $15 Rainbow Shots, it's a pretty cool display of colors and great for a group. Came here for Maryland crabs and D picked the first place that popped up on yelp. Turns out you can't always trust the promoted stores since this place only sells Maryland Crab Soup and Alaskan crab legs. No Maryland crab. (Search function fail.) Ordered the grilled Rockfish special and the two soft shelled crabs. The orders take a while despite a good amount of the food (and all of the sides)sitting out in grocery store style catering trays out behind the glass covered counters. Certain food is okay to sit outside under a heat lamp after cooking for a while, seafood is generally not one of them... however, I was starving and willing to wait and not willing to drive around hungry. But wait, despite nine visible employees behind the counter and an unknown number in the kitchen, (not to mention no table service?), the food took.... sa long time. 25 minutes is too long to fry two crabs and grill a small slab of tasteless unseasoned fish. Extra charge of 50 cents on both our orders. We asked after we noticed it on the receipt and they said "if you order bread, it's extra." However, when they asked at the register, they didn't say it was an extra charge, they just asked, "would you like a dinner roll or the corn bread?", implying it was included. I know it seems petty, but that kind of sales tactic seems a bit underhanded to me. I can't believe this place has 4 stars. Best thing that happened during this time here? Watching USA women's team kick Netherland's rear in soccer, woot woot. EDIT: I will add that Brian, one of their managers reached out after this review to try to make things up. I have bought good from her about 4 times and always get fish & shrimp. I give it a 5 star because its always been hood and you will have leftovers. This time I decided to get just the salmon and was totally taken back. It was not good at all. I saw the peppers, onion & juice and thought this better be flavored for the whopping $16 I paid. He contacted me the next day and immediately apologized for my experience, inquired if ultimately the food tasted ok and offered a refund. I appreciate the EXCELLENT customer service Brian! It will be a wow before I come back here if ever. Went in to place an order and I am literally watching people who came in after me and placed orders leave with theirs. I inquired about it twice and the young lady behind the register would add one thing to my container and go take a new order instead of finishing mine. MUST GET THEIR OYSTERS! They are HUGE and so clean! It was so delicious! We got half pound of shrimp, dozen oysters and a pound of crab legs. The crab legs were pretty much waste of money. The whole thing as basically hollow with no meat the shrimps were okay. It just tasted like any other shrimp we ever had. The drinks are cheap during happy hour (2 dollar domestic beer, 3 dollar import beer and 4 dollar house wine and rail cocktails). The restaurants really clean which is always a plus! How have I not reviewed Mid-Atlantic Seafood when they have been a tried and true staple in my carry out endeavors for yeeeeeaaaarrrs. How could you NOT looooooovvvve aaaaaaaalllllll the delicious seafood and soul food delights of the universe, made readily available to devour for an indulgent lunch, when you didn't cook the night before? Should I be eating fried whiting and candied yams and turkey wings and corn bread and macaroni and cheese and collard greens for lunch???? NO!...... But am I going to anyway? Ummmmm... Absolutely, if you make them available for me to pick up in 15 minutes for under 15 bucks. I love the steamed shrimp, snow crab legs, fried whiting, candied yams, pineapple upside down cake, and teriyaki mushroom green beans from mid Atlantic but you really won't go wrong with anything from here. The employees have always been nice and helpful and the whole place is always very clean at any time of day that I've stopped in. Most recently, I had to pick up a 20 person lunch order and the young lady that gave it to me, labeled every meal by name AND packed the meals in large crates she had someone carry to the car for me and told me to keep the crates for safe travel. I've been a long time customer of Mid-Atlantic and continue to enjoy them in the rotation of on the go food options that are always great, but won't break the bank. read more

It took some time for me to narrow down exactly what I wanted to order. The menu is chock full of appealing options. Seafood, side dishes, poultry, beverages, dessert a food paradise!!! I settled on fried catfish with french fries and hush puppies. The portion was very generous. The catfish could have been fried a bit more crispy but the seasoning/taste was pleasing. Where do I even begin!? This place is clearly a favorite of the area. If you want some soul food for a great price and tremendous portions, this is the perfect spot! I personally can eat a lot for a small person and often these portions leave me saving a portion of my meal for a later snack. The salmon is my go to. But the fried fish options are also great! I love their corn bread. The hush puppies are DELICIOUS, as well as the fried okra. Depending the time you go, you can more often than not expect a wait however it'll be well worth it! The patrons and employees are all a pleasure to be around. This place is quintessential DMV soul food. I feel SO lucky to live so close. read more

Mid -Atlantic has been another one of my grab and go spots for a few years. It's pretty much a non-fancy eat-in /carry out option style business. The soul food here has come along way over the years. Now if you want that southern comfort Mac and Cheese (Carolina Kitchen style) then please bare with them it still has some tweaking to do. However the food here is very good!!! What I enjoy most about Mid- Atlantic is they have a very large menu to satisfy all different kinds of tastebuds!!!! They even have some pretty cool affordable drinks as well. I always get the same thing here which is the salmon stuffed with crab meat it's about $20 for the dinner. I believe their prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. I prefer the Laurel location over the other ones I've visited in New Carollton and near Takoma Park. Laurel is pretty spacious and has a small bar area. read more
