I met Julian when my boyfriend and I were looking for a headboard, back when Julian and his ex-business partner, Gabe, were operating out of a small garage, and back when, to see one piece, fifteen other pieces had to be (delicately!) removed before it. Wow. Service. I mean, seriously. I've been looking for a slatted bench for some time. I was hoping to find a vintage Nelson. However, they are very rarely found in good shape at a reasonable price. Enter, Mid Century Møbler. A couple of friends have been telling me that they were super stoked on these guys for a while now. I was checking their site out today and, VOILA! A vintage, black, slatted bench. The right size, in good shape and definitely the right price. I purchased it immediately through the site with Paypal (I mean, how easy is that?)... What an amazing business this is! Even during these unusual times Mid Century Møbler is responsive and supporting customers by sharing their knowledge & expertise. I bought a teak Møbler table from a private party and after a 1-1/2 hour drive home, discovered cracks by the bolt on each of the the legs. Distressed I googled Møbler table repair/parts replacement and found Mid Century Møbler and sent off a message with photos. Julian, the owner, replied within minutes with a comprehensive explanation of what likely caused the cracks, what to do if the bolts are loose and offering his professional opinion that the legs appear to be in good shape and 100% serviceable. A couple text exchanges and more picture sending later, I felt reassured that this was not the major disaster I had thought it was. We assembled the legs later that evening taking care not to over tighten the bolts and found the table to be perfectly stable and structurally sound, just as Julian said it would be. As a three time customer in the past year, I can say that Mid Century Mobler is completely awesome! Julian and his gang offer an amazing and hard-to-find assortment of Danish and English MCM furniture, refreshed several times a year with new inventory from the old country. Prices aren't cheap, but they are reasonable and within reach. My husband and I will miss the old place in SF, but the new store in Berkeley is such an appropriate, airy-light and open space to show off the furniture, it's perfect. We'll be back soon. I bought a dresser from MCM in July 2019, an unusual size particularly well-fitted to my dressing room. I noticed and mentioned several small defects, like dry spots in the finish, stains inside the drawers, and missing bits of veneer that were only visible when drawers were removed and turned upside-down The sales person promised to correct the defects before delivery; Julian added details on the phone; and Desiree's restoration department did more than they promised at every turn. The dry spots were not merely touched-up; the dresser was entirely refinished! The drawer runners were waxed to slide smoothly. I asked how to maintain the finish and they gave me a bottle of wax. Desiree was especially helpful. She communicated regularly and clearly and, along with her team, lavished good care on the piece. MCM goes well beyond every other furniture store I've visited. Could not be happier to spend my time and money twice with Julian and his staff at MCM! They were so helpful and friendly in helping me find pieces that matched my style and my existing vintage furniture, although the selection and quality speaks for itself. I was quite happy to spend the money for unique yet functional pieces that compliment my style and will last longer than any modern "cheap" flat-pack furniture. After following this store online for a while now, we finally purchased three BEAUTIFUL pieces from their new store this weekend. The selection of midcentury finds here is definitely the best collection of pretty affordable and drool worthy 50's and 60's items that we have found in the Bay Area. Julian the owner is really sweet and knows his stuff. They will clean and fix up each of the items before you take them home. So a piece we found on the floor that looked pretty good ended up looking amazing once they oiled it, fixed a drawer etc. They even delivered the items the same day!! What?! So awesome! I bought a nesting set of 3 G-plan side tables. They are mid century Scandinavian stylish. They arrived in excellent condition. The only problem we had was with the Shipping. Charish uses UShip which is amateur. After 6 weeks of waiting for shipping, which I paid for up front, I had to pay for FedEx, which took only 4 days to ship. I had to complain numerous times to Charish but I eventually got a refund on the UShip cost. read more

My wife and I bought a Teak Hi- Boy dresser from Mid Century Mobler. Before it was delivered, it was thoroughly cleaned and beautiful refinished. All of the pieces are antiques and are sourced in Europe before being shipped backed to California. If you haven't stopped by the shop, I highly recommend going in. It is tucked away in the Ashby shopping plaza, but a quick walk from Berkeley Bowl, so a fun place to procrastinate before buying the weekly groceries. Jason is extremely welcoming and knowledgable about the furniture that they've procured. I had gone in at least 3 or 4 times just to admire some of the extraordinary marquetry and exotic hardwoods, before we pulled the trigger on the dresser.
