went in for a root canal that was recommended by my dentist and ended up in the e.r hour and half later. Dr.Mazdey was my dentist and either the dental dam wasnt on right, or the assistant forgot to suction. the irrigation cleaner they used ended up down my throat. my throat instantly closed up and i had full blown panic attack, because i couldnt breathe at all. then i started throwing up. while i was trying to regain my breathe and stop dry heaving the dr was telling me we should definitely finish the root canal. i decided to finish it even though i was extremely uncomfortable and having trouble breathing. i went home and was having extreme pain in my throat and couldn't breathe or talk. my lips started to turn blue so my sister in law tpok me to the e.r . i was there from 6:30 to abput 1 am so they could monitor me. the dr did finally call me back and just said it will go away but if your having trouble breathibg go to the e.r. i explained the best i could i was already there. it took a couple of days after for me to start talking normal, and for the pain to go away .. staff seemed friendly, dr seemed like he just wanted to get done with this job and move on to the next patient. read more

If only there was a 10 star option, that's what this team of wonderful professionals deserve. Today actually, I had a root canal re-treatment with Dr. Mazdey and WOW!! I was blown away with his talent, attention to detail and precision. The previous root canal I had on this tooth was an absolute mess, it was infected and I've had an annoying constant pain for about a year. Dr. Manzey is really knowledgeable and understood exactly what was happening with my tooth and was able to explain everything to me with such patience and care. He really took his time to make sure the job was done correctly by taking multiple x-rays. I'm not a profession but at the end, comparing the old x-ray with the new one it was like night and day. I am so amazed. Dr. Mazdey worked on my 10 year old's root canal with much professionalism and care. He is very personable and upfront. His assistants and receptionists were also very helpful and polite. The ladies set the tone for the office, which is why I chose this office as opposed to another one. He definitely knew what he was doing. He is board certified and I felt extremely confident with him. My daughter gives him a thumbs up. God bless him for making this experience good for my daughter. For those with little ones, they do have wifi so they could listen to music or a story while the procedure is happening. Yes, I'm reviewing my root-canal doctor. When I was referred to him, I looked all over the web to find reviews for Endodontists and nuttin. So, for anyone in need of a root canal, call this guy! I had a really, really bad experience at my dentist, who couldn't manage to numb the nerve he had to, to clean out of my less-than-stellar tooth. After my second visit to OD (original dentist) chair, I stopped him half-way through, crying and saying I needed a referral to somebody who could knock me out so I wouldn't feel the pain. I was referred to Dr. Mazdy at Mid-Valley Endo. Yesterday I went in and started crying before I even sat in the chair. I was terrified. The receptionist and the doctor reassured me he was good at this and I would get numb. Riiight, I thought. Well, he is AWESOME at this and I did get numbed and only had a few moments of discomfort during the whole process. I stopped crying and I wanted to get up and HUG him for finally getting me through the root-canal. I came as a referral from my dentist which accepted my insurance, for a root canal that was infected. This tooth has been in pain for quite some time. It being a new doctor I've never used I was a bit nervous. The first visit was great. Front desk lady was sweet and talked with me as I was in the waiting room. Answered any questions I had. Then the doctor was funny, quick and smiley. Gave me prescription to get the infection away. The second visit was for surgery day, the dental assistant is the one who impressed me most. The doctor was great. But I've never had a surgery where the dentist wasn't asking for tools. She knew what he needed. She had everything waiting for him. I watched the entire thing. I called this orthodontist last minute as I had tooth pain. My dentist had mentioned that I needed to go to an orthodontist because he couldn't do this specific root canal. Dr. Mazdey did a a great job doing the root canal last month. Although it was quite pricey the pain was very minimal. This place was better than going to USC and the location was really close to me. I just had my root canal redone this morning. I am a dentist who refers to Dr. Mazdey. What better way to evaluate who I send my patients to then to be a patient. The root canal was poorly done in my twenty's by a general dentist. It has been acting up for 4 or 5 years. I finally decided to get it redone. The whole procedure was about an hour and a half. I was numb enough that I didn't have any discomfort during the procedure. Everything went really smoothly. The assistant was very good. Numbness wore off about an hour after I left. With root canal retreats some pain is very common. I was amazed and pleasantly surprised that I had absolutely zero discomfort. Dr Mazdey is a very caring and genuine doctor. I needed to get a root canal on a tooth that had already gotten a root canal because the original dentist years ago did not get all the root out and now an abscess was forming above the tooth. Great! There's nothing like getting a root canal only to get another one again, on the same tooth! :( But Dr. Mazdeyasnan, was soooo awesome, gave me a super great deal (I don't have dental insurance, so to my wallet, going to the dentist is a nightmare!) and was able to fix this problem within about an hour. If you are looking for the least expensive -cheap Endodontics to extract your root canal and pain then this is the place to be. My crown root canal procedure cost total of $1500 compare to other places that charge more than $2000. I looked into Dental Schools that would cost $700 - $800 but are limited when it comes to scheduling because of the semester/quarter system. Needless to say this is your best perfect option and is worth the cost and time. Also do not let the ugly building or office fool you. It is not fancy like the ones in Beverly Hills and if you can over look that and care solely on the Staff than this is perfect for you. The front desk staff are very professional and offer 5-star service. They know their stuff and are very courtesy when it comes to insurance questions and what to expect from the procedure. Dr. Mazdey who performed the procedure is a cool down to earth guy that does his thing effortlessly and probably has done it a million times. The procedure took about 30-mins and recovery was about 2-weeks, also another 6-month follow-up. I was referred to Mid Valley Endodontics from my regular dentist Dr. Chan (Northridge on Reseda Blvd). My consultation was great as I met with Dr. Kaveh who explained to me everything that I needed to know. Setting up the appointment was very easy, especially if you talk to Jessie (who is so sweet and super nice). Received a call from Jessie the day before as a reminder. Again, very sweet and her voice is very comforting. I got there on time and was escorted to the chair. Dr. Kaveh came in and gave me a short summary of what is going on. I gave him my only concern (swallowing and drowning) but he assured everything will be ok. Novocaine is never pleasant but they made it bearable with some topical. The procedure was good and painless. They put this dental dam around the tooth which was great. It kept the tooth dry, the saliva from building, keep from swallowing the junk and helped keep my mouth open. I was also able to swallow when I need to. The procedure took about an hour and I left very satisfied. Dr. Kaveh was truly great. I also liked that every so often he asked if I was ok. Always a thumbs up from me. Leaving, again talking to Jessie with a nice beautiful smile and she validated my parking. I really don't want to go back again, but if I need a root canal, I will go back to them. On my way home, I stopped by the famous Taiwan bakery (85 degrees) and bought some nice pastries for the whole office. It was noon and they needed to eat too. Thank you all. read more

I went to see Dr. Mazdey to diagnose a root canal procedure and when he zipped through my diagnosis so quickly I asked him to repeat it again and he literally raised his voice in contempt for me. I paid for an X-Ray bill of $150 in 3-D which was not necessary as I have had a root canal done in the past. I had 2 root canals done by Dr. Afshin Mazday, the first one was an emergency one that they squeezed me in the same day. Being the first time, I was very panicked and did not know what to expect. He was very calm and was very efficient. I can honestly say it hurt less than getting a cavity filled. You can tell he is very experienced and this is all he does day in and day out for many years. I had a very bad experience there. The receptionist was very friendly and polite but that was the end of the good stuff. The assistant, who took my x-rays, was so rude and got huffy with me when I needed to adjust the large metal apparatus that she was shoving down my throat. She was so mean that I felt this over whelming urge to get up and walk out of the office. But I knew I had to stay calm and stick it out. After all...I had already paid my co-pay and I had been having sensitivity pain. The truth is, however, sometimes premonitions are a good thing and we should listen to them. Next, Dr. Mazdey came in and he was no better than his helper. He gave me a 1 minute exam, on only one side of my mouth, and said he could not help me. I asked if he was going to look at the other side of my mouth (as I had pain there too) or give me an cold test - as my referring Dentist said I would receive. Dr. Mazdey just said, "No. I know you have sensitivity so why would I do all that?" Aaah...maybe because I just paid you to do it. He told me he could not help me and told me to try toothpaste for sensitive teeth. I left that place so fast it would make your head spin. Rudeness, and a refusal to do the examination I had paid for, made this a one star (or less) experience. I would steer clear of this Doctor if at all possible. I much prefer Doctors and Dentists who care. read more

Just had a root canal therapy from Dr. Mazdey after a traumatic experience at a dentist's office in DTLA. I was referred to him by my new awesome super dentist Dr. Mamaly Reshad, and while I was extremely nervous about having this done, as soon as he started to get to work I knew I was in good hands. This guy is an extremely talented medical professional who knows what he's doing, and cares about making sure you actually need what you are getting (and who cares enough to do the job right!) I was told that endodontists in Beverly Hills charge twice as much for the same thing, and I'm not surprised. My advice for anyone getting a root canal is to relax, because you're in good hands with this dentist. The whole procedure was pain free more or less, and it's two and a half days later and I hardly feel any pain, all sensitivity in my tooth is gone. Can't wait to get the crown on and be done with this, but at least I know it's not as bad as everyone says... read more

Absolute worse customer service I've ever experienced! I had an appointment for 4 PM yesterday. I arrived on time and waited 40 minutes in the waiting room (no big deal). I was then called in to take x-rays and was seen by Dr. Mazdey. He literally poked at my tooth twice and then told me to "go make an appointment with the receptionist." I was confused and when I began to ask questions about the procedure, he seemed irritated and in a rush. Maybe because there was a waiting room full of people at the end of their work day. Thats not my problem! Both the Dr and the receptionist were no help. I have a really sensitive tooth and needed to know what procedures would work best for me. Because I am not a Doctor of any sort, I needed help determining if I should do laughing gas or be put to sleep. This office wasnt helpful at all. Pain or no pain, I'd rather take my money somewhere else! read more

Dr. Afshin Mazdeyasnan is amazing. I had to have 1 root canal and an existing root canal redone. Dr. Mazdeyasnan was very precise. The only pain I felt was with the anesthesia shot. Everything else was done without discomfort. He explained what he was going to do, what I should expect from the procedure, and how long it would take. Dr. Mazdeyasnan uses state of the art X-Ray machine that gives him an immediate image of the x-ray. This allows for an immediate diagnosis. Even after the anesthesia wore off, I didn't have pain. Dr. Mazdeyasnan's nurse called me at home after each procedure to make sure I was doing well. Dr. Mazdeyasnan's schedule is very busy. I'd suggest to take whatever appointment they have available and ask to be called if there are any cancellations for a sooner appointment. However, you have to be willing to take whatever time slot becomes available. There is a parking lot at the back of the building. Dr. Mazdeyasnan's office does validate parking for the first hour only. I paid $1 for the extra 15 min I was there. read more

I was sent here from my dentist to get re-treatments of 2 root canals. I saw a female dentist (unfortunately, I don't remember her name). She was AMAZING! I've always had bad experiences with dentists. I shake, sweat and my mouth quivers. I almost have a mini panic attack. She made me feel comfortable and put me at ease immediately. I went from shaking and sweating to fully asleep. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE ! I will be going back for all my other root canals. I had a great experience here. I had my root canal redone here because the previous dentist I had seen unfortunately didn't do it right and it left me in a lot of pain. Thankfully I was referred here to Dr. Mazdey who did a wonderful job cleaning out my root canal and afterward I just had the regular sensitivity for a couple weeks and then no more pain. I was so relieved, mouth pain can be so aggravating! I was very thankful to find such a great office and I am a very anxious person when it comes to things like this so I liked that he was very nice and great at keeping me calm and answering any questions I had. Everyone in the front office was also super sweet and I can't thank them enough for all their help. I also love that this office takes care credit! So with whatever my insurance didn't cover I could just put it on there and they give you more than enough time to pay it off no interest!
