Took my Jeep in on Saturday for an exhaust repair, they found the catalytic converter had been drilled out completely. This was all fine and great, they replaced it with a new catalytic converter and got it welded on and sent me on my way. The only problem was, they failed to fix all the leaks on the first time, The catalytic converter they installed, was not hanging by one of the hangers, and instead was rattling on the skid plate, they managed to make one of the exhaust leaks temporarily worse. I was able to bring it back in on Monday, I'm waiting on the repairs now and I will update this post as soon as I have it back. Pictures of the work they did below Update 1: they were able to find another leak, and the problem causing it. They did nothing, no effort at all, to contact me and inform me. They have been waiting on the Jeep dealership all day for a callback. Today is a holiday. Jeep is not going to call them back. When I called to inquire what was going on, he told me what was happening. I asked if they can order parts from the O'Reillys just up the street where I used to work. he said yes. My only frustration and question is why they didn't do that first? It seems to me, if you know one place is open, and they're right next to you, why would you go with the dealership that's over a 20 minute drive away? That makes absolutely no sense to me. My experience with this shop has been fruitful, but frustrating. I hope other people don't have to experience the same tediousness that I had to endure. Update 2: I took it back in again on Monday, they addressed and fixed the exhaust leak, stating I was missing pieces that I wasn't even aware of. They did this all completely for free. My only Eric left, they didn't weld the catalytic converter hanger in place, I still have a small rattle whenever I drive. I will fix that one myself, as it is pretty easy. when they do their work correctly, they do a damn fine job. Update 3: we took it again because there was a smell. It turns out the honeycomb from the old cat blew out into the muffler and is now burning off. They're going to fix my rattling issue tomorrow, and then my jeep will be running again. I misjudged welds as I did not know who welded what. Their welds look and function good right out of the gate, it was whoever did my muffler (not these guys) that messed it all up. read more

Beware of Midas! Worst company ever! I took my car for an oil change and they didn't put the oil cap back on so oil sprayed all over the engine. Didn't realize this until smoke billowed out from under the hood. All the dashboard lights went on and the car stalled. Was able to add oil and plug it with foil to get it back to Midas. Took it for another oil change after that incident. Again there was faulty workmanship and the engine seized with 21,000 miles on it, essentially totaling the car. They refused to accept responsibility forcing me to sue them for damages. read more

My son took in his 2013 KIA REO. to have the breaks checked. He was told he needed brakes, front and back, with the back brakes being the most worn. I decided to take a look for myself and that's where the problems began. The lug nuts were so tight I couldn't get some of them off. I took it back to Midas to show Leo and two of the wheel bolts sheared off while I was showing him In their parking lot that they were over tightened. When I made the appointment that morning and explained the problem, Leo said they torque all car lug nuts to 100#s. I reviewed the manufactures specs and found the torque should have been 80#s. The mgr, Leo and the tech were very confrontational. They ordered new wheel studs and put it back together. I told them to set the torque at 80#s not 100#s. When they pulled the car out and said it was ready, I put my tire iron on the back left tire and found the lug nuts were loose. Had I driven away, their poor work could have resulted in an accident. The tech came out and I showed him. He begrudgingly went back and got a hand torque wrench and tightened all the nuts to 82lbs. I went back and asked Leo for paper work to show the correction from 100lbs to 80 lbs, but he became argumentative and would not give me any paperwork to show the work done. Therefore this review. I see now there are many 1 star reviews. Like others said, I too have been going there for various services for a long time and have always had good friendly service. What happened? It seems that how a business takes care of a problem is the true indicator of how good the business is or isn't. read more

I took my car to Midas on 120th Avenue and Colorado in Thornton on September 24th. On October 29th they told me they took my car to the dealership and will pay for the diagnostics and return the $1500 I already paid them, but they can't figure out what's wrong with my car. I trusted them. After 35 days. They sent it back to me three times in the first two weeks. They had to tow it back the fourth time. I lost my job because I had to keep calling out. I lost 35 days of income. I'm 70! No job, no car, no income. Pulling into that Midas was the biggest mistake! They turned my whole life upside down. read more

My wife took her car there for rotors. They created a huge list of repairs that estimated between $3300-4300. When I picked up her car, suddenly this leak they told her was just a fluid change. We took her car to a trusted mechanic who changed the rotors for $300 and said nothing else was wrong. Midas wanted to replace the front brake pads, they were replaced last year and only had 4000 miles on them. This Midas is the stereotypical crooked mechanic trying to rip off a woman. I would give 0 stars if that was an option. We took our car in on a Friday for an oil change, brake inspection and alignment check. They determined that the rotors and brake pads needed to be replaced. They said they were 70% sure that they could get the oil change and brake work done on Friday but everything, including the alignment check, would be done by Sat. We were repeat customers, so we trusted them at their word and left the car. Then we never heard from them again. They didn't check in on Friday (like they said they would) to tell us the status of the job. They didn't answer their phone for hours on Sat. When we finally got ahold of them, they told us that they couldn't get in the brake pads they had quoted for the job. However, they could get in premium brake pads for additional $$$. They hadn't even checked the alignment. If they would have been honest from the start and communicated throughout the process, we would have taken the car somewhere else. Not once, did they offer any type of apology. Their tagline is "Your Safety is our Priority". Our experience with them was the exact opposite. read more

I have been a customer of Midas on 12190 West 64th in Arvada for YEARS. I have never had an issue with them until now. I have to say the Manager at this store needs extensive training in customer service and keeping his word. I took my Liberty in for basic maintenance; an oil change, rotating the tires and a transmission flush. Next thing I know I get a call that I needed back brakes, a new radiator, and I had leaks that needed to be fixed. I said ok fix what needs to be fixed because I TRUSTED the place, as I stated before I have been a customer for years. I got my jeep back the next day only to have to take it back because it had a real bad leak this time. The manager paid for the labor, which I thought was fair, to fix this new leak. I get my jeep back and as I am leaving work it just stops. I call Midas and the manager sends the mechanic to me. Long story short my jeep had to be towed back to Midas because my motor was blown due to a timing issue that resulted from the last leak being repaired. I had to rent a car at my expense. I asked if Midas would cover my rental and was told that they covered the tow and the engine. By rights they should they are the ones who blew my liberty's engine to begin with! That manager had my jeep parked in the lot while he waited for this tool or that tool to check the compression on the motor. He promised to keep me posted "at least" every other day. He did not call me to keep me posted. He then called and says " you aren't going to like what I have to tell you, but your motor is blown". Again he said he would call with updates regularly which he did not do. He said that the shop would pay for the motor and the installation. Three weeks it has taken to get my car back, meanwhile I am STILL paying the rental car fees. Mind you I am NOT the one who blew my motor. Non of this was my fault. I have spent close to $1000.00 on rental car fees AFTER spending almost $3000.00 on the initial repairs. I have been going to this location for many years, for many vehicles. Yesterday morning, I walked in there in a panic that my car was overheating, after my husband had replaced the radiator over the weekend. They quickly confirmed our suspicion of an air pocket in the radiator, causing the issues we were having, and offered to help run the air pocket through. I left my car there for a few hours and went back to pick it up and it was perfect. No charge. I'm very thankful for the excellent service! I will continue to go back for many years to come. Another visit to N. (manager) at Midas that I must relate. I bought a headlight from a auto parts store (.25 miles from Midas, but I will not here name)! I could not get the part to fit in my Subaru and thought to ask the MIdas guys if it required a special tool or technique. He told me it looked to be the wrong part, confirmed it and brought me the correct headlamp for my Subie- and gave it too me - no charge! This is why I continue to bring my car to Midas Arvada. Called to get a quote to replace alternator on 2003 be Jetta. Said there is a $30.00 test charge and the replacement would cost $773.37. Insane. New alternator cost 183.00 at O rielly auto. Maybe 2 hr to install. This place is a ripoff. On previous occasion we took Jetta there for oil Change and tire rotation. They never rotated tires and we were charged for it. I've been going to Midas for years and I recently moved and needed my car serviced, I found this location and was amazed by their customer service! I've been needing my transmission serviced, and I've been putting it off and putting it off; the front staff was so knowledge, Brett explained the importance of it and I was much more willing to service my vehicle this go round. Sometimes you just need to know what's going on to make better judgments. When they were all done my car turned on so gently, it was like she was brand new again! Before it had to crank a little to get going... Nate and Jonathon were two other employees that I had contact with, they made the visit waiting for my service not so tedious. They do have a TV which you're able to change yourself, but human interaction is always nice The wait wasn't even that bad (I had an appointment) Along with TV, they had complimentary coffee, water and clean bathrooms. They also have tinted windows which, if you're planning on reading a book or watching the TV screen, will aid in your eyes not straining so hard. I highly recommend these folks for honest estimates and solid work. They have helped me out a couple of times. This time I stopped in without an appointment to ask about having some brake work done. Here is the story: I had a friend replace the axle, steering gear box and tie rod on my 2004 Land Rover Discovery over the weekend. I went to Midas to have the brakes professionally bled. I spoke with Daniel (out in the shop) and Nate (Service Writer up front). Daniel suggested having the alignment check based on the fact I had the axle replaced. He also offered to replace the spare on the front wheel with my new tire and rim that were in the back of the vehicle (I had purchased the and rim from another tire shop down the street). Having all this work done in one stop at one shop was a big help. It saved me a trip and wait time at the tire shop and it saved me a trip and wait time at an alignment shop. They took care of all of it and that was a big help that saved me a lot of time and hassle. Nate provided the estimate for the cost and time to complete the work. It was dead on accurate. Daniel and Nate were easy to work with and I felt no pressure. Daniel's suggestions and advice were helpful and in my best interest. Nate's estimate for the cost of the work was accurate. Nate even provided a ride home so I didn't have to sit at the shop all afternoon while my vehicle was being repaired. The quality of work and the customer service at this Midas shop is excellent. Set up an appointment to buy tires and get an alignment, when i got there I was asked if I brought tires with me. Obviously I didn't because i told them i need tires, was told they don't have any tires and can get them the next day. I told them the kind of tires I wanted, was told it would be $1300 for just the tires I said that cant be right because on their website those tires are $127 dollars a tire. Guy at the front desk rudely said "well I don't know where your looking but those tires are not that much." I had to pulled up their website on my phone and showed him because he was not believing me and they were actually cheaper than what I had said. Was told once again he will not doesn't know where I'm getting that from even though I was clearly on the midas website showing it directly to him. To Midas: I seriously request you (or anyone) to comment on this review with specifics and challenge my statements! Please, no vague responses like "were sorry if we fell short of your expectations". Small jobs only!! Like changing a battery or something. My recent experience with them demonstrates to price gauging for the laymen of unnecessary work. Do not expect to leave under $900.00. It's their Job to pad the bill!! Not that the work needed is false, but rather just add ons of work that you don't really need. Brought my car in for a diagnostic ($90 just for that). I asked them to check the brakes, which they recommended new ones. Got on a three-way call with my brother (a mechanic) and he told THEM thank you and told ME to get the heck out of there!! $1,500.00 quote! Brought it to my local guy (small mom and pop shop) along with the Midas quote (which read like medical text book). He couldn't stop laughing. In short, brake job totally NOT NEEDED and all necessary work was taken care of for $400. I later found out that padding your quote is a common business practice, and that the person doing the quote would most likely be fired if he was not padding the bill or wasn't very good at it. Needless to say, they are not looking out for you or your best interest at heart. This isn't a story of me not having the money, I do. It's a story morals and ethics. read more

I ran over an un-noticed large rock on a sightseeing trip last weekend. Resulted in loud vibration on idle and during acceleration. The guys at Midas diagnosed the problem - the rock bent the skid plate at one point, displacing a flexible line in the exhaust system which was vibrating against the frame. They re-positioned the line (they must have had to remove the skid plate). They did all this for no charge to me - calling the service an "exhaust system inspection". I am very disappointed by their new management. I have been going here for years for an oil change but won't be going here anymore. Last week, we went in for a routine oil change, and they pretty much wasted all our day. We took our car in the morning and was informed there were only a few cars ahead of us. We waited at near by coffee shop for four hours until I called them again to check on our status. They said they will be done in an hour, and max at two. After waiting for two and a half hours I still didn't get any call back so I called them again. Then they tell me they are not even sure if they can work on it today. We had no choice but to go back and pick up our untouched car. I know things happen and I'm sure they have to work on the cars that arrived first, but when we went back in to pick up our car, the man at the counter blamed me, telling me that he told me he didn't know if he could get to it that day. In reality, all I needed was an apology. Unprofessional customer service, where they value their time more than their customers. He didn't realize I took a whole working day to do an oil change. And now I have to spend another day to do so. read more

This location is excellent. They were straight with us when it came to prices, and they didn't attempt to pressure us into anything. When it came time to total up the bill, (which was a lot, we had to replace all 4 struts) he even made sure to give us a couple coupons that brought down the total by several hundred dollars. Midas has valuable coupons online, so be sure to check for those too. The best and most impressive part is that when the car was being worked on, the manager (Billy) literally let us borrow his car for the afternoon so that we would have transportation while our car was being serviced. Who is that cool?! Talk about a class act. My wife is pregnant so he has no idea howmuch that helped us out! The bad reviews on here are bogus. Check the Google reviews for a much more accurate representation of this location. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Midas!!! We look forward to bringing our car here again! read more

I had Midas completely swap tires on two different vehicles, required mounting & re-balancing, their was a misunderstanding regarding quote over phone, we compromised and I ended up paying $70.00 to have 8 tires mounted & balanced, it turns out this was a pretty good price to have this work done. Now the problems... Both vehicles had raised white letters on the outside of the tires, after the swap all white letters were now on the inside of the tires, also 4 days later I had to take one of the two vehicles into a Big-O to re-balance the tires due to vibrations. I had such a sour taste dealing with this shop that I did not give them the opportunity to correct their mistakes, I felt that it was possible that due to the compromised fee they may have messed up my services on purpose and i did not want to give them a chance to do it again. read more
