These guys are terrible. Bonked my Suburban's crossover pipe while camping and knocked it loose from the header. Tweaked too much to just tighten back up so I took it to Midas to see what they thought. They said they could put an oversized gasket in that would fix the noisy leak but wanted $225 to do it. I had the entire header off and on in an hour trying to fix it so this seemed really steep. I asked the guy about it and he started giving me a hard time about how much work it was to prep, clean, etc. The truck was already there and the noise from the leak was driving me nuts so I told them to just go ahead. When my wife picked it up, the guy I talked to on the phone came over to her and told her what a jerk I was for questioning the price. To top it all off they didn't fix the leak, it still makes noise. Still driving me nuts. When I called to demand they fix it they said I was foolish to expect it to be fixed for that cheap and that if I really wanted it fixed I'd need to spend $2000 for a new crossover pipe. What would really be foolish would be to spend another dime with these guys on anything. Terrible terrible. 7/15/13: their crappy repair failed in Moab, Utah and blew out the "special" gasket they put in. Turns out it was three regular gaskets crammed in to fill up the gap from the crossover pipe. Their "repair" didn't last 5 months. read more

My husband and I have been going to this Midas for a few years now, mostly because of their four oil change deal. They have always been fine, nothing special. About two months ago my husband went in to get his oil changed. They told him his oil was leaking slowly, which we knew, however it was not dripping enough to cause any sort of damage...just a few drops on the driveway. After my husband got his oil changed, his oil was leaking way more than before. There would be a stream of drip marks from him just driving into the driveway. I told him to go back into Midas to have whoever made it worse fix it, but with our busy schedules he did not have time to take it in right away. A week or two later his engine started seizing and completely died, due to there being no oil. A $3000 fix at least. I'm not quite sure what happened at Midas that day. I do know that I will NEVER go back there. We are very good about taking our cars in when they need maintenance and instead of helping our car to run further, Midas completely ruined our car to the point of no return. Get your oil changed at Midas and expect to have your car towed to the junk yard two weeks later. read more

Everyone working is respectful, and even when they're busy, they take the time to talk with you. The hours work great for people with 9-5 jobs as well. After firestone treated us like trash, we went to Midas and everyone in there showed us excellent customer service and were very genuinely nice. All we needed was a tire rotation and they hooked us up. Only took 15 minutes if even and was cheap. I highly recommend going to this Midas. Midas in Boulder rocks! My back windshield wiper has not been working for several months, and with winter and snow on its way I decided it was time to get it fixed. First I took it to Tilden Auto Care in Boulder and they wouldn't even look at it for 2 seconds with out a $50 "look charge". Plus they said they wouldn't be able to get to it until next week and I would have to leave the car with them. Needless to say, I decided to shop around. MIdas (on 30th) in Boulder was awesome! I drove in with no appointment and they were very friendly and helpful from the moment I got there. He looked at my wiper on the spot and with in 3-4 minutes with only a wrench he managed to fix it right then and there. He even said it was free, and to come back again!! I definitely will! Customer service goes a long way. I highly recommend Midas. They are honest, quick, friendly, and reliable! read more

I've been going here for my oil change for 10 years using their gold card discount. Then, without telling me, they give me my bill with an additional $10 charge. I'm told by the representative it is for the extra time and labor of removing the skid guard. Since they have left my drain plug loose enough to leak in my driveway, I know that is not affected by the skid plate, as I tightened it myself. So, I look at the filter. It's easily in reach, and unaffected by the skid guard. I now change my oil myself! It's surprisingly easy, and even fun. But that doesn't change the fact that these guys straight up LIE. read more

I've gotten my oil changed there for years because I trust this place. I purchase their $70 gold card for four oil changes and many additional discounts. When I go to other garages that specialize in oil changes I usually find my oil tank really low after 3,000 miles, but I've never had a problem at the Boulder Midas. read more

I changed my own engine and cabin air filters and found they lied to me about their condition.

Initially went to the Toyota dealership to get work done on a manufacturers recall and was told I needed about 4,000 dollars worth of work on my car. Whoa! So I came to Midas for an oil change (convienent location for me) and asked these guys to check over the list of work the dealership told me I needed. Glad I did because Midas told me none of that work was needed and that everything on my car looked just fine. I appreciate people's honesty because having no clue what my car needs, I could have easily spent a bunch of money on unnecessary work. I was able to walk out of there with my oil change and not hassled into buying additional services I didn't need. I'll definitely be going back from now on. read more

So I waited to write this review, because I was waiting for a manager to call me back to clarify something. He called back, but he left a message defending his lying technician. So here I go. I went to Midas for an oil change because they were open early. They called me a few hours later to tell me that there were some issues with my car that "looked pretty bad." I called them back and they told me I needed a few flushes. I declined them, but the one they made they biggest deal about was the transmission flush. The technician, Chris, told me that my transmission fluid looked pretty bad and had metal in it. He said this could cause my transmission to get hot. I declined that service, and I called up the place I got a transmission flush in September 2016. I got a second opinion, and my transmission fluid was still pink and in great condition. The technician lied about the condition of my vehicle in order to upsell an unnecessary procedure. I called to speak to a manager, Toby, who called back and left a message saying that his technician was simply recommending a service based on mileage. Not true. If you recommend something based on mileage, you generally say that. You don't lie and say the transmission fluid looks bad when it doesn't. Shame on Midas for trying to take advantage of a female customer. I'll never return there. read more

Do not use this place!!! They will try to rip you off by telling you that you need your filters replaced and if you get your oil change they will try to make you pay for synthetic which you do not need and is way more expensive. I also asked them to look at my tires because my tire pressure light was on and they did not look at them but just changed my filters (which I did ask for and charged me a lot for them) and my light is still on even after going to them. I think they purposely were trying to get money from me because I had a coupon. I would recommend going to Barnsley Tire Co instead! read more

Service was horrible, overpriced, and they lied about damaging my car during the time they had it. Cost me 70 dollars plus shipping to replace the sideview mirror after the fact - of course, the mirror itself was intact when I left with my vehicle, but it fell off the car and shattered by the next day, meaning I had to replace not only the cheap plastic assembly, but the entire mirror. If they had just owned up to the damage when it was done, it would have cost me a third as much to repair, and I would probably not have been so pissed. Maybe they felt they could abuse me because I look like a college kid with very little money? read more

Recently took my car there to get just an oil change. Afterwards they told me I had cumulative problems of about $1,300... I didn't get anything fixed because I wanted a second opinion first. Basically all of the things they said were wrong were totally fine. I couldn't beleive that they would really try and hustle anyone that badly. I am going to call the consumer protection agency and the civil court here at Boulder. I already called the police station and my lawyer. I brought my car two weeks ago and I paid about $1000 to do full service and check everything. When I left, there was a small vibration came from the engine and this sound and vibration increase everyday. I went back to them, and they asked me for $1500 again. Then another guy came and he told me that the guy who asked me $1500 does not know anything about the mechanic of the car and he should not talk to me (if he does not know, why he checked my car and gave me a quote with $1500). Then after 15 minutes, another guy came and told me that they forgot to tight some bolts in the engine from last time (first visit). Which I strongly believe those bolts cause another problem in my car due to the extreme vibrations from the engine and risked my safety and put my family in risk. I am really frustrated and do not recommend any body to go to this place. BE CAREFUL, they do not know what they are doing. This is the WORST workshop that I have ever seen in my entire life. People, DO NOT GO THERE EVEN FOR BASIC THINGS. After reading the reviews that the customers wrote here, it seems to me that I am not the only one who is suffering from their mistakes and their unprofessional treatment with the customers. read more

I brought my car in expecting to have to replace Brake pads and rotors all the way around. The staff there was super nice and squeezed me in on a busy Saturday. When they checked my car out, I was delighted to hear I only needed pads all the way around and new rear rotors with just a little machining on my front rotors. I left paying less than I expected. The front desk girl Renee was very helpful and pleasant and was sooo nice enough to drop my keys off with me at my work (across the street) so I could pick my car up at my convenience. I highly recommend Midas if you're looking for honest and fairly priced service, excellent customer service, and lifetime warranty on your brake pads. I had great service at a Midas in Denver, so I went to this Boulder Midas when I moved here this fall and purchased an older 4Runner. They did about $3K worth of work on it over the course of 4 weeks (3 different visits). I kept requesting a bumper to bumper inspection, which was either not done or was done by someone who didn't know what they were doing. After failing my emissions test, post-Midas visits, I found a mechanic trusted by a friend. He was blown away by the way the engine looked. There were hoses loose, clamps missing or in the wrong location, obvious corrosion and leaks that were never brought to our attention. In the end, they've cost us way more than $3K we paid them since some work has to be redone, and the new mechanic will have to do the labor to get back into areas they messed up. I wouldn't take your car here for anything except brakes or oil changes - definitely NOT a full service shop. But beware again- I talked to a guy who got an oil change here and they forgot to fill the car with oil. Needless to say, he had some engine issues stemming from major error. read more

I went in there because I needed brake work. They quoted me 850 telling me I needed things that I didn't. I ended up taking it to Arapahoe Broadway Conoco and it was less than half the price. I am so glad I followed my instincts and tried someone else who was honest. Midas lures you in with a free inspection and then tries to take you to the cleaners. I can see why they have so many bad reviews. These guys quoted me $750 for a brake repair for my 1976 BMW, $500 of which was for parts. Knowing that I can source the parts for much less than this, they said it was fine to bring the parts and they would do the work for the $250 quoted in labor. Perfect - I was ready to give them 5 stars for this. When I returned, they said they wouldn't do it - I needed to pay $80 more in labor. Being the fool I am (and needing the work done), I agreed to it. Sadly, the work was terrible. The brakes squeaked loudly and the parking brake was rubbing, slowing down my car. When I called to complain, they said it would work itself out. Of course it didn't, so I took my car back to be properly repaired. This time they removed the parking brake cables, and told me I needed to buy new ones. I said I would, but expected them not to charge me for labor. They refused. Now I have a car with no parking brake and the normal brakes still squeak. Terrible service - avoid them at all costs. They are the classic, old school rip-off artists. read more

These guys lure you in with the coupons/deal on oil change, and then invariably find a bunch of stuff wrong with the car, and try to convince you that everything needs fixing, for a total bill that in my case came to over $600. Been there once before, and the same story, come in for an oil change, find everything that is supposedly wrong with the car, and then provide an estimate that is over $500. Everyone that has ever gone there gets the same run-around from what I can tell, the only question is what is the total estimate at the end. For me, in both cases, it was over $500. For any car that is not brand new, there will always be some issues, but these guys exaggerate to the extreme. You'd be a fool to go here, suggest you find another auto-shop with a better reputation or find a good, honest mechanic on Craigslist. read more

Been taking my cars to Midas for years. They have been doing all my tire rotations and oil changes...at least I thought they were. Noticed my tires were wearing uneven so went back to Discount Tires after 22k miles and fronts need to be replaced. Discount said there is no way your tires have been rotated since we installed them. Had another expert look at them and they said the same. Midas has been telling me they were rotating my tires during my last few visits, but apparently they weren't. All I can say is WOW! I have bee taking my subaru here for a couple of years and always had good service, however today I took in my boyfriend's 4Runner and got BLATANTLY ripped off!!! I asked for full synthetic and a full differential change. When I picked up the vehicle they charged me an absurd amount. I called to check w/ my boyfriend who has had the car for quite sometime and he was furious. We called to get quotes from 3 other Midas shops for the same service and found they charged me $150-200 more than the other shops. Not only did they over charge for the labor they claim they filled 12 quarts of fluid when the car holds 6. My mistake for not knowing what I was getting into, but SHAME on them for taking advantage of this lack of knowledge. Not only will I NEVER use their services again I am fighting their headquarters and my credit card company to ensure they do not get away with this robbery. I have dealt with these guys before and they are too expensive. I find out my daughter went in there for squeaking brakes and they took serious advantage of her. Charged her $400 for a brake job, did the front brakesand didn't fix the problem because the problem was in the back brakes. If I had known I would have told her not to go there. They charged her for two new rotors on the front (parts cost was $130 each when a Wagner lifetime rotor at Checker is $89!!!! And when she took it back to them and told them the brakes weren't fixed, they looked at it, and told them they were okay. I can't believe they never looked at the back brakes. They charge you ridiculous prices on the parts. One job I was on they charged me $300 for an part, (I pushed the car in and didn't have a choice.) After repair, I walked right over to the parts store after and found the parts store would have sold me the same part directly for $180. Don't take your car here, These guys will seriously rip you off. They would be out of business if they weren't in such a good location and protected by the Midas chain. read more

I was driving home to Michigan from California when i had some trouble with my car thinking it was an alignment issue with my tires. I stopped at the midas and the guy (toby i think) told me i had a bad tie rod and wheel barring. he then gave me a rough estimate of about 950 bucks to replace both items. i had just put a new wheel barring on 3 weeks before this and it cost me 200$, here they were quoting me 600 for the same thing. i told him ill take it back to Michigan to have it taken care of. i had it looked at in Michigan and the wheel barring was perfect, not broken or loose in any way. the tie rod was in fact broken but i had it fixed in Michigan for under 100$ while toby told me it would cost about 200 for the part alone... so not only are you charging more than twice as much for the parts (i put on quality lifetime warrantied parts) but your telling people that things are broken that are not broken. Its the kind of crap i would expect from some lowlife backyard garage not a major chain. I will never go to a midas again and will be advising others to avoid you as well. read more

Good at easy repairs, not much else. I brought my Ford Focus into the Boulder Midas to repair the e-brake cable which had stopped working and to diagnose my check engine light. Ended up with new brake shoes, drums, and an EGR valve, BUT my e-brake cable still didn't work and my check engine light came on again a couple of days later. After three visits for the check engine light, I finally gave up and had it fixed elsewhere! As for the brakes, Midas told me to go to Ford in Longmont where they actually spent the time to fix my e-brake cable problem. When I had a problem with the rear brakes shortly afterwards, Midas wouldn't even look at them, telling me it was Ford's issue (since they had last worked on it), though it turned out it was THEIR brake job work (Midas) causing the problem. It seems they like to replace parts without actually diagnosing what's causing the problem, and then they act perplexed when their "fix" doesn't actually work. By far the worst experience I've ever had with an auto repair place. I will never go to the Boulder Midas again. read more
