I recently had a major issue with my muffler on my Tundra; the bloody thing rusted on both sides of the actual muffler. The prior owner had installed a custom one to provide some extra power for towing, which also made it quite a bit louder as well. But, the custom came with shorter lifespan. Lucky for me, they provided the original muffler with the trade in. After checking a few places to see if it could be repaired, anywhere from $3K (full replacement from the motor) to $300, I was told to see what the Midas group could do. My first trip there they were really busy and wouldn't be able to get it up on the rack for a few hrs. They asked if I would come back. I agreed. Several days later, I freed up some time to get back. They were able to get up up on the rack in short order and quoted me a price below what the others had provided. And, they were going to install the muffler I had. They had to order s few parts for the seal, so I had to wait a bit. After the seals arrived, they realized the connectors for the older muffler were different than what was coming out of the motor. They ended up having to cut off the connectors and welding it all together. They didn't charge me any extra. Truck started right up and muffler was working perfectly, no leaks and much quieter than the last one. Now everyone wants to drive it. The building is run like a repair garage. They fix cars! That is not clean work. The sitting area was pleasant but not fancy. They have a tv and magazines to pass the time. If you are looking for a place to get a fair estimate of a repair or service without all the fancy smancy extras, this is a good place to go. They saved me money over all the other places. This place is terrible. Ask for oil change and tire rotation. Coupon for 70 dollars for up to 5 quarts. My car needs 8.8 quarts.. was charged 180.00. Total. 110 dollars for 3.3 quarts of oil.. When I asked her about it she said yes this is correct. Then I never received the the safety check. Ask about the air and cabin filters. Never checked them. I watched the car throughout the oil change. Tires were not rotated. Asked about that was told they were. Then the technician was no where to be found. To confirm.. Absolutely a train wreck.. I came in Wednesday June 19, on Juneteenth holiday, so it was busy. I'm from out of town and wanted to get service quickly. Unfortunately the inspection came about 2 hours after I arrived. But after that, your mechanic and the front desk person, Mike, were helpful and professional. I waited, and after 5 hours I had to go, leaving the car there. I knew it would be an issue when after test driving, the car ended back up on the lift! This shows how thorough they were. They identified an uneven emergency brake so had to fix that too. The next morning, when the car was done and I wanted to pick it up, I asked if Mike could pick me I up from my hotel. And he did. That was helpful and kind. I had come in for a funeral, and really didn't want to deal with hassle, but alas, brakes needed to be done and transportation to the shop was key. Well done team. read more

Please do not go here. The last time I went, I sat directly opposite of my car. I never saw them lift it up in the air to do the oil change. Magically, they came a few minutes later telling me my oil change was complete. After I spoke with the manager about my concerns, he reassured me that he saw the mechanic with his very own eyes and proceeded to charge me the $85. I went to a different mechanic after they reset my car's oil level to say 100% and he said my oil is pitch black. This is what they try to do to women who come by themselves, and assume they won't get caught. The second to last time I went there, on the inspection sheet where they're supposed to check everything (e.g., your tires, other important things), instead of actually doing an inspection the guy just marked the green box for everything (no yellows, no reds). I had just left another mechanic that told me some of the things I needed to get fixed, but according to them it was in excellent condition because they didn't feel like actually checking it. However, that time there was a different manager and he actually confronted the mechanic on my behalf and apologized to me about it. Will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau. SCAMMERSSS!!! If you want to scam like this, just go work in an alley, not a "professional" shop. read more

While I was there they informed a lady customer that she needed to call the warranty place for payment because they didn't want to do it. They did and I only waited 15-20 minutes before it was completed. They also reset the maintenance needed warning messages which had previously displayed. Ive been to two of the local Midas shops in the last two months. Exhaust work on one vehicle in July at the Hwy 100 location was done quickly over night and done well. Went to the Brookfield location at 125th and Capitol in early August for front brakes. I had an appointment, so I was in quickly. The waiting area STUNK like a gas leak or an open sewer. Manager said that happens there, it had something to do with the oil pit or something like that. OK... Midas, if this is an ongoing thing, where customers have to sit.. then DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, even if its to add a power vent to the waiting room to vent the smells out. The shared uni-sex bathroom was filthy. My brakes were done in about an hour. Two weeks later.. my brakes are squealing.. and I was close to the Hwy 100 Midas and stopped in there. They had one mechanic in the Bay Area and the manager said they were too busy for him to look at the brake (((REALLY))). I was back in the area on Monday a couple days later and called... No, they were too busy again. Finally I went to the Midas that did the work, and they looked at the problem... a "pin" was installed wrong and making the noise... and they fixed it. Later that day... squealing was back and I called them, and made an appointment for Monday morning. Mgr. said he had my info and was going to replace all the work done 3 weeks earlier, and order the new parts then, so they would be on hand first thing on Monday morning when I arrived... so I would not have to wait... so maybe a half hour wait. When I got there on Monday morning @ 8:30 they took my car right in and took my tires off and the brakes, and waited. Sometime after 9:00 I saw the parts truck show up with my brakes... they had not been ordered on Friday. From there things went fast and I was there about an hour. The waiting room still smelled like a gas leak... maybe the doors should be propped open. The bathroom was dirtier than it had been 3 weeks earlier. I also noticed "Hunger Taskforce" food collection box was being used as a trash can, and there was food in the bottom... stuff that's out of date and stained from the coffee cups tossed in there... so who knows how long that box was sitting there. I did empty the trash out of the box and into the trash can... just cuz I am a good guy. The thing that bothers me is the lack of understanding the needs of the CUSTOMER while getting work done in the shop. A clean restroom does not take much doing. Providing a trash can for customers to use in the waiting room is 10 bucks at the nearby Target or Home Depot. Venting the waiting room so horrible smells that the crew probably no longer smell is a couple hundred bucks spent on a contractor. The lasting impression here is work done wrong at Brookfield Midas, repeated turn downs by West Allis Midas, Correction done wrong at Brookfield Midas, a return to Brookfield Midas again to have work done AGAIN... and a stinking, dirty waiting area with a foul bathroom. read more

What a mess. My dad did me a favor and got rid of the funny noise my car was making by bringing it into a Midas shop in Brookfield and forking over half a grand to replace my front bearings. Awesome, right? Fast forward 7 months - I've had a nagging feeling for a bit that my car isn't handling very well. I happen to park with my wheels turned out and I catch a glance of the tread on the inside of my front tires - completely gone! Smooth as a baby's bottom... and so very dangerous! Yikes! I bring my car to my go-to repair shop (Voline) only to find that the passenger's side front bearing is loose (implied to be due to a poor install job) and broken and also broke the corresponding joint. Shocked, I pay this place for new tires and a new joint and then figure I'll get the bearing replaced by Midas. (Wish I could get them to pay for my tires too..) After some back and forth on the phone, the Brookfield Midas told me to go to the Glendale Midas as it is closer to me. That was kind of nice, but also worried me - I felt like the person I was talking to was trying to unload me onto someone else. I called the Glendale Midas to explain the situation and immediately had trouble communicating. Whoever I spoke to sounded like he had had too much coffee, or someone was fast forwarding his voice. I kept having to have him repeat himself. He sounded doubtful of my story, so I ended up having my dad call to explain it to him (let's be honest, I don't know how cars work, maybe I was saying something ridiculous about the joint). Somehow an agreement was reached and I made an appointment to bring my car in right away. As soon as I got there they hoisted my car up to check out the damage. Sure enough, there was a loose and broken bearing, but they also pointed out my strut on the passenger's side was looser than on the strut on the driver's side and told me that could be to blame for wearing out my tires too. Now, the dealership had told me about my loose strut but they told me it would just cause me to have a bumpier ride, so I had opted not to fix it a few months ago. Regardless of whether or not it contributed, I felt like they were looking for ways to excuse themselves of the blame. No one ever apologized for the poor installation in the first place or expressed any concern for my safety or the damage to my car. I ended up getting the bearing replaced for free, but it seems like a small consolation when I consider the cost of the new tires, new joint, and alignment fee that I'm paying to another place. Thank goodness I didn't get in an accident with those slick tires. I almost made this a 2 star review because, to their credit, they did honor the warrantee even though it was only for 6 months (I think) and it had been 7 months. Additionally, they were courteous in person (though abrupt on the phone) and prompt. However, I still distrust their work after this incident and would tell others say STAY AWAY from Midas, particularly in Brookfield and Glendale. read more

I went in to get my tires rotated on my four-wheel-drive truck, and they did not cross rotate my tires. They rotated them incorrectly front to back and it took them 45 minutes. They also where going to inflate them 20 pounds over the max limit, and I know they over torqued the wheel studs. Be careful going here, I'm not 100% sure they know what they're doing. read more

Arriving at the shop at about 5:30 pm knowing that they close at 6:00 pm the first thing I did was ask the lady behind the counter if they would still do an oil change at this time. She went into the garage to speak to one of the 2 mechanics each of which was busily playing with his phone while resting in a chair, presumably after a hard day of labor. She returned and advised me that they would still do the oil change but would not do the Courtesy Check including visual brake check, battery, air filter, fluid, belts, and hoses. No mention was made of the 4 wheel tire rotation which is normally included, which I later determined was also not done. As I was already there, I agreed to this lesser service in order to get my oil changed now. Upon completion of the oil change the car was brought to the front of the shop but upon entering the vehicle I discovered an overwhelming smell of gasoline. I returned to the counter, told the lady behind the counter of this odor and inquired as to the procedure for moving the cars in and out of the shop, specifically asking if any kind of seat protector was used to prevent the transfer of the grease, grim and odor clearly present on the mechanic's coveralls at the end of the day. She replied that they only put a paper mat on the floor board. I then asked her if she had some way to remove the extreme smell of gasoline from the car. She went into the shop to speak to the mechanic. His response to her which I could clearly hear through the glass door was, "Is that the guy with the oil change?" "Get him the FUCK OUT OF HERE!" Yes, those were his exact words, get him the fuck out of here. At which point I entered the shop area and asked the mechanic whom he thought he was speaking of and did he normally speak of the customers in such a manner. He had nothing further to say on the matter but the lady said she had a product in her car that might help. She retrieved a can of air freshener from her car and proceeded to treat the interior of the car including the seat while repeatedly apologizing for the problem of the odor and for the mechanic's remarks. It is my opinion that if you wish to be abused as a customer this is a great place to conduct your business but if you prefer to be treated like a human being and shown even the smallest amount of courtesy and respect you should conduct your business elsewhere. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE! Please do not bring your car for any problem no matter how minor. About one year ago my car overheated right by this Midas so I went there to avoid towing it someplace else. WOW biggest mistake ever. Short Story... My car overheated Midas diagnosed my car wrong They had to tow me back after fixing it Then they tell me it was the head gasket :( I was out of town when I broke down so had to leave my car :( They called to tell me they dented my bumper Drove back up to pick it up when they said it was ready Drove it 2 minutes and had to take it back Had to leave it and drive all the way back home to Chicago again Months later find out the dent was much worse than it looked and they told me One year later... I need to have replaced most parts they replaced last year. Long Story... I am not from Wis. and was just there for work so I didn't really know where to go so I decided to trust them. They "fixed" my car overnight. I needed a new water pump, new belts, thermostat & radiator hose's. Paid $935. Next day driving to lunch my car overheated again. I called Midas right away and they sent a tow truck. Guy calls me a few hours later to tell me they misdiagnosed the problem with my car. That it's my head gasket. After some time contemplating if I should have them work on it or tow it to another shop, if I could find one, I so stupidly decided to have them work on it. It wouldn't be done for me to drive back home at the end of the week so I needed to find a ride back to Chicago. The following week when it was ready I had my dad drive me up to get it. Before heading up they told me they dented my bumper in the process of fixing my car. Great. We saw the dent when we got there and it didn't look like much and they knocked off $400 for it. I wasn't super happy but just took the discount. I paid my $1719.32 bill and we left. I made it across the street and stopped in a parking lot. My dad was following me and I told him something didn't feel right. He drove it a little and agreed. I also noticed that my tires were low (nice attention to detail). I was so angry. We drove it back over and told the guy to look at it again. They put some pressure on the water pump and it just started leaking everywhere. We couldn't believe it. Here we drove all the way up to Wisconsin from Chicago to pick up my car, once again, and they didn't even test it out to see if it was working properly!!!!!! I was also 7 months pregnant while going through all of this with them (just had to add that). When it was finally fixed they drove it down to Illinois for me and my dad met the guy to pick it up. He had asked for a police report for the bumper and we never got that. That is one major thing that I regret ever taking my car back from them without. Because had come to realize after some time, they did not just dent my bumper, they f*%$ing dropped my car from the hydraulic lift!!!! That is the only thing that we can figure happened after seeing as time has gone by that the bumper slowly has grown a horizontal crack that has gotten bigger and bigger from the sides of the bumper around to the back. The guy was not honest with me at all. He said that they had a "problem" with their hydraulic lift and made it sound like the car bumped it not that the car was dropped. Anyway the conclusion to my story now one year later... I need almost all the things that they fixed in my car replaced AGAIN!!!! read more

I needed some emergency work done on a work vehicle last weekend. Three other places weren't able to guarantee I'd be back on the road by Monday. After calling Midas, they agreed to get me in on Saturday and promised to have it done that day. I took it in and told them what I thought needed to be fixed. A half later, they called and told me it was actually something else that turned out to be significantly cheaper to fix. They worked on it well after they were closed to make sure they kept their promise. I picked it up Sunday morning and couldn't be happier with how it runs. I dealt with John, who was awesome, but I can't say enough good things about all the guys who worked on it. They were honest, true to their word, and went above and beyond for me. Took my Lexus to Midas on Capital. Was greeted by very friendly and helpful young lady who know cars. Car was making noise each time I started up backwards in the morning--found pads were badly worn. Also had a rattle as I hit bumps--found a faulty suspension rod and replaced. Asked if they could adjust exhaust pipe on driver's side--prior owner must have backed into something and pushed tailpipe in an inch or more--they heated the pipes and bent tailpipe back to original--NO Charge!! They also checked all four tires to find which one had a faulty air pressure sensor since that light was coming on--found it and I will have that replaced on my next visit! Great shop and very nice people. I own eight cars and will be back with all of them. Prices were very good and enjoyed seeing the work performed and well done!! read more
