I am extremely happy that I chose to go with Midas rather than the dealership. I had an appointment to go to the dealership for a routine oil change but was having second thoughts based off a past experience. After doing some quick research I found Midas in Encinitas and saw all the wonderful reviews it had. Jeff was great, he was extremely friendly and more than helpful. I have been going to Midas for over a decade and the success stories never end. I know it is about 1/2 the cost of the dealership but there are other bonuses as well. One thing I love is they rarely ask for a diagnostic fee they just tell me to bring it in and they will see what they can do. Also, like today, the manager Jeff Check found a practical solutions that save me over $200. Since the cable part to fix my hatch door was going to cost $275. he decided he would look into fixing the cable instead. That is just what they did at Midas and it works great. work done by techs is great! 5 stars! But the managers are new every month it seems and the newest Carl, he's a jerk to say the least! His customer service is not good. I dont know if I would go back and do my business there if he is still there. On the other hand the shop front desk changes all the time and the work that is done on my car is top notch! So next time I go in he probably wont even be there! If he is I will just go to one of the many surrounding shops until he is gone. read more

They were far and honest. They quoted me a pretty high price for tires but said that I could find them at a competitor down the street for about $30 cheaper, after all they are not in the TIRE business really. I appreciate a mechanic or technician that is honest with me. I used to rebuild motors and cars and know my way around a vehicle so I appreciate it when they are straight with me. For anyone in the Carlsbad/Encinitas area even Escondido and Oceanside. I would really like to recommend somewhere to take cars when there is anything wrong with them. Stop on in at Midas off of el Camino real in Encinitas and I promise you won't regret it. They have done nothing but treat me and my entire families cars well. They just fixed the problem with my spray nozzles to clean my windshield and replaced my blinker that was out all for no charge. Jeff is such a great guy and definitely goes out of his way to give great customer service. 10/10 recommend them and Jeff definitely tells you as it is he did not try to get us to spend any money on the old car I had that was crap, he straight told us to get rid of it! read more

I called Midas first thing this morning, around 7:30, because I had a red brake warning light illuminated in my 2009 Mini. Jeff answered and told me I could bring it right in for a free brake check. Within 20 minutes of talking to Jeff, my car was in the shop and on the hoist. Gary, the manager at the front, was very pleasant and took all my details while Jeff inspected the Mini. I learned quite a bit about braking systems on German cars. Apparently, the rotors and shoes wear down together, which provides for excellent braking performance at the expense of rotor wear. He then took me out to the car to show me exactly what he meant. Meanwhile, Gary was on the phone to his various parts suppliers lining up the best prices possible on all the parts. He told me that he'd get parts from 4 different sources to help keep the cost down and that if I could leave the car there, he'd have it back to me by early afternoon. Then, Jeff offered to drive me back to my house so that I could work from home while they worked on the Mini. Completely unexpected and above and beyond the call of duty! Jeff called me back at 11:30 and told me everything was done and my Mini was back in top form. I was so impressed with their service, I had them do the oil as well, and saved a bunch of money there too, since they had a special going on the full synthetic service. Overall, the experience was great: Gary and Jeff were courteous and professional, worked hard to get me the best price possible, took me home while they worked on the car and got me back on the road a couple hours earlier than expected. I just went to Midas in Encinitas for the first time, but it will definitely not be my last time - I'm a customer for life!!! I called them late afternoon, less than 2 hours before they closed, for info on brake service (something you don't want to delay) and they told me I could come right in and be in-and-out before the end of the day. I just assumed they were giving me a sly sales pitch over the phone, but sure enough, they made room for my car in the shop, clearly explained to me the condition of my brakes, replaced my brakes and rotors, and got me out - all in less than 2 hours since I first called just for info and to see if I needed to make an appointment to be seen! And after a couple discounts, my final price was less then they originally quoted me. The entire staff was incredibly courteous, respectful, and honest and in observing them in their customer interaction with others, they exhibit the same amount of courtesy, respect, and fairness to all their customers. They truly do adhere to the words embodied in the signs throughout their lobby, which read"treat others the way you want to be treated." All in all, this shop is great! They do honest work and for a fair price. I will be bringing all of my vehicles here and will recommend it to my family and friends! read more

I've been a Midas customer for four years and I recently moved to North County. I went to this Midas shop to see if they could access my service history but their system is not connected with the previous store in Miramar Rd.This is something they should try to standardize. However the staff in the store treated me like if I have been their customer for all those years. Jeff has been specially nice and has gone out of his way in my three visits to make sure I was happy. In the first visit he replaced the battery, on warranty, and topped the oil on my wife's car at no charge. In the second they service my car quickly and provided a nice discount from their published prices. On the third visit he replaced fron brakes on my wife's car, on warranty, and serviced the car. They always offer a nice dicount on their service. I was not too pleased that the brakes only lasted 25K miles compared to OE brakes that lasted 45K, but they provid a lifetime warranty (doesn't cover labor). I'm a happy customer and I feel I can trust Jeff with my cars' needs. Good job! read more

This review is purely to let everyone know what phenomenal customer service Jeff provided me. I heard a weird noise with my brakes and Jeff managed to make the bad news (I needed new brakes) easier because of his demeanor and superior attempts to make my situation as good as possible. He offered some good options for me and discounts where he could. I ended up waiting at the shop for over two hours but he knew I was on a deadline so he made it happen and got me out on time. I also observed him interacting with countless customers who greeted him by name and were obviously return customers because of him more than anything else. Obviously the mechanics did a great job as well but with so many choices out there to get brakes, brake pads, etc., the key that gets people to come back is how they were treated at the place where they know they are going to have to unload a lot of cash. Jeff works really hard to make sure that all of his customers go away satisfied. I will definitely return to Midas in Encinitas because of Jeff, and I don't even live in Encinitas! read more

HIGHEST rating available for this MIDAS shop. MIDAS (Encinitas) has been taking care of my 4 vehicles for over 10 years. I rotate all 4 cars through every 6 months and never have issues as a result. Maintenance is always taken care of promptly and all my records are conveniently located in the system so recommendations can be made on maintenance intervals, etc. Jeff and Ian in the front office offer exceptional service. A number of times they pointed out items still under warranty that the local Ford dealership did not catch. I trust the front office and mechanics, and even purchase my tires from this shop, as well. They look for the best deals and find the fit that is right. When I purchased a (Used) 2008 Jeep Wrangler for my teenage drivers, we experienced "Death Wobble" and Midas was quick to fix that issue ... they knew exactly what to do. As an example of customer service, I recently had the rear wiper arm broken off my 2013 Explorer and purchased replacement parts from local Ford dealership. Tried to fix myself and reviewed blogs of other user experiences on google regarding difficulty pulling off old part and not breaking glass. The blogs mentioned a wiper puller tool. When I stopped by Ford, they appeared perplexed and wanted to charge $25 for a technician to look at it. Never acknowledged a wiper puller tool and were certainly not helpful. So I swung by Midas and spoke with Jeff. He came out took a look, went in the shop, brought out a wiper puller tool, and I was all set in 2 minutes.
