I was having issues with my charging system on my 2001 Dodge Daktota (just over 236,000 miles) and found a coupon online for a free charging system check. They ran the diagnostic test, gave me the printout and said "your battery just needs to be charged. everything else checks out ok." I don't know these diagnostic tools so I took their word for it. They charged the battery for free and put it back in the truck. I only got a few blocks down the road before my battery gauge bottomed out. It had been behaving like that for a week and still trusting the diagnostic, I thought I may have a bad battery. Next day I decide to go back in to the shop and warranty the battery since I had got it from another Midas two years prior. They replaced the battery pro-rated since it had been over two years. I got a few blocks down the road and again, down goes my battery gauge. The next evening my truck breaks down at 2am, got it towed home by 5am, and I get it into another shop the next morning (Sears Auto Southland Mall. They rock!!). After one minute they tell me "it's the alternator" as I had been suspecting. I showed them the printout from the diagnostic at Midas and he said "yeah that's bad. It should be reading (I forget the numbers now) with a load and (x number) with no load. That's basically saying your alternator isn't charging. So basically, the guy at Midas didn't want to do anything and sent me on my way. Costing me the tow (I dont have roadside assistance right now), a battery I didn't need, and finally getting what I needed from another shop. read more

This review has been long overdo. I had my 2010 Lexus serviced at the Midas in San Bruno, CA. The people there never told me that the owner of that store was shutting down because he never paid his franchise fees. I paid for their top quality brakes and my car kept having noise issues (the noise they make when is time to replace them) After the store closed I was forced to take them to another Midas, unfortunately because of some company policy and being a different store I need to pay additional fees to take care of the problem. Lucky for me, Jason really went out of his way and took care of me. We found out that the San Bruno Midas cheated me and they never install top quality brakes. Jason install their top quality brakes and ate the cost to make one of his customer happy. I felt bad that he had to do this but as a business person I understood why he did it. The problem went away and I'm happy with his store and if I ever need additional work, I would definitely take my car to him and would not mind driving the distance because I know he would always take care of me and my car. This place is the absolute best. Jason is beyond honest and the shop is top notch. I do almost all my auto repairs myself but had to do an AC Evac to fix my '08 Jetta compressor. Would've required equipment and disposal that I don't have in my garage but these guys welcomed me over and had it handled in minutes. I won't even say how fair the price was! Customer service at this place is amazing, I'd give them 5 stars for that. The staff in the front are super attentive, welcoming and helpful. I was there to get my brakes looked at and spent about an hour there while I waited for them to give me the run down, price and my ride to pick me up. I was there with my two kids in my big ass double stroller! They were beyond courteous with me which I'm now realizing not a lot of places are, some spots get really annoyed when you bring your kids in with you. Also I saw them help out one guy who came in asking about a part they didn't carry, the worker called about 4 other shops trying to locate the part for this guy and get him as much info on it as he could. Overall I had a good experience the only downside is I would consider them to be a bit overpriced, I know I could have gotten the work done cheaper somewhere else but this place is super close to my house, had a next day appointment and still looked at my car when I showed up 4 hours late!!! read more

Got my service done here last month, was expecting to get hassled for add ons like all other places, but the technician told me that the filter was not dirty yet and could go a little longer and also checked all the other oil levels and pressures. I drive my car across the bridge to this shop from San Mateo because their prices and incredible service just can't be beat. This is the second time i came here. Once was to change my starter that cost me about 500 bucks.. but i am making this review because i am very pissed off! first off they did a good job for changing my tire..for 10 bucks with no receipt..but when i went back to my car my kids IPOD WAS MISSING! knowing that i did leave it in the front seat by the charger...well i had no time to go back and complain because i had to work...but i called next morning and called in to see why this happened...well when i did call the only thing i ask was to talk to the manager and i spoke with him and i told him that i came by yesterday to change my tire and i am missing my IPOD..He says are you with the black honda! so right there says it all, because i never mentioned my make of my car etc...and that manger was the one who changed my tire!! what the fuk is going on there..i don't care about the IPOD anymore it's just that i hope the owner of this place knows about this and really hired people that you can trust!! i recommend everyone who comes here to take your valuables before you let someone goes in your car!! They didnt seem busy, so I pulled in because Ive been putting off an oil change. I was greeted and approached by Jason. He was really friendly and quick/to the point. They changed my oil and topped off my fluids within 30 minutes. They also informed me of something else that needed to be fixed eventually, but they werent overly pushy or agressive about it. Went here on Friday to get a nail taken out of my tire and check out getting new front brakes that the Toyota dealership told me I needed. Midas told me I had 2 nails in 2 separate tires, both on the sidewalls and both not repairable. I saw one nail before I took it in and it was definitely not in the sidewall. Then, they said since my car is AWD I needed to buy 4 brand new tires. They also told me that I needed to have all of my breaks done since they recommend doing all at the same time for an AWD car as well. Since I wasn't quite ready to spend $1200 for a trip I thought would cost me $25 to plug a tire, I just went with the brakes (which cost me $420). I ended up going to America's Tires and they were able to plug both tires for $20 each. Won't be going here again. read more

They checked my brakes and discovered I had less then 1/8" of brake material on all 4 brakes and that my 2 front tires were bald.
