This review is long overdue, and I strongly urge anyone considering this dealership to think twice. In May 2025, I paid $20,000 for a vehicle for my daughter, only to discover shortly after that the skid plate had been improperly secured with cable ties a clear sign of careless and unacceptable workmanship. When it came loose after hitting a bump, I was forced to pay out of pocket for repairs that should never have been necessary. On top of that, there was a hole in the rear carpet that was not disclosed, and the air conditioning failed within two months of purchase. Equally concerning was the level of unprofessionalism from the salesperson. I was made to feel as though my purchase was insignificant, and it was clear she lacked basic knowledge about used vehicles. What is most unacceptable is the complete lack of accountability. I have left multiple messages for management and have not received a single return call. That level of disregard for a paying customer is inexcusable. Between the undisclosed issues, questionable vehicle condition, and total absence of customer service, this has been the worst dealership experience I have ever had. I was greeted within 90 seconds of arriving (I didn't have to hunt someone down). My service advisor (Enrique) was incredibly nice and knowledgeable. I was given timely updates without asking. My car was ready early. I was offered a Lyft ride. They washed my car. Great coffee machine in waiting area. They did not try to sell me anything that wasn't needed. We bought a certified vehicle here. When we test drove it, the only thing we thought needed looked at was the A/C. Our salesman, Hash, had the technician look at it and said it was good to go. Once it was delivered to our daughter, many things were found to be wrong. It DID need a new a/c compressor. About $2000. The windshield was after market, so the camera wasn't working properly which caused the computer to sporadicly alarm. Another $600. The transmission fluid had NEVER been changed(car had 80k miles) another $350. The battery was in a covered protector, and when it was checked by us, the posts were terribly corroded. I had to purchase a new battery. Another $300. I reached out to Hash, and he wanted me to send a pic of the battery, which I did. No response... The 120 point checklist for the car to be certified, said everything was good. This was a lie!! Car dealerships get kickbacks for selling certified vehicles, this car should never have been certified! What a freaking scamming dealership!! Stealing from customers and lying about their vehicles to sell as certified so they get more money and we the customer get screwed!!! NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM HAYWARD HONDA !! I even emailed the GM,Shawn, and Erik Berkman, GM OF Honda. NO RESPONSE! Love the service department and I think a great place to buy a new Honda but if your buying a used car or selling a used car I would go to Carmax or Carvana. I love the service department here. They are the best. Very personable and fast. Also notable is how the service advisors have all been around forever - I remember them all from the previous location when they moved. Much prefer this to Cardinal Oakland. I think this is a small family owned business - and if its not is sure does feel like it. If your buying a new car I see no reason not to buy here. It is a very straightforward thing and since all the new cars are similar its easy to cross shop and with the days of the internet lots of the prices regardless of dealership will be similar. The salesmen are very friendly and go out of their way to even help you customize a car or find you one if it is elsewhere. Sure there might be a one off where you find a poorly equipped car in a bad color at the end of the year leftover for a really really good deal - but that is in reality just the market correcting for certain factors and not really as good a deal as it might first appear. For used car purchases I like Carmax - inventory and ability to find what you want based on features is unmatched. Every option is listed and then with a nationwide search you will have your best chance at finding what you want. For car sales I prefer Carvana. I recently sold my car and got 4 offers from four different dealers. My offer at this Honda dealer came in at the lowest offer $4000 less than Carvana and $2500 less than Carmax. Online my emailed estimate from Honda Hayward actually was the highest initially: "Your Kelley Blue Book® Trade-In Range $9,145 - $11,228" I got a price from Carvana right inside this range and it couldn't have been less of a hassle. All done online. I think the guy buying cars here might have been too busy that day. It was probably a done with the age make and model only and he was oblivious to the options on my car and the immaculate service history and low mileage. Since all communication was done through a sales guy I think somethings were lost in communication. Carmax does it the same way where you don't have any contact with the appraiser - I find it inefficient and almost frustrating. Again, Carvana for the win when it comes to sell. Buying and selling cars probably ranks with most people similarly to going to the dentist. If you really don't like the traditional sales environment my overall recommendation if you buy or sell a car here is do everything over the phone and online and not in person. Once you arrive here only do so when you have an out the door price and financing and warranty and dealer add ons in place and fully negotiated. Test drive at Carmax a similar newer car or rent one for a day or two if you need a test drive. read more

I hate to leave negative reviews, but this place deserves it. I have owned and driven Hondas for over 25 years. I have visited many Bay Area dealerships from Pittsburg to San Jose to San Rafael. I know what to expect. I had a check engine light on my instrument panel. I scheduled an appointment with Hayward Honda's service department because I know that they are busy, and you can't just walk in and get immediate service. I scheduled this appointment more than a week in advance. They knew when I was coming and exactly what I needed to have checked. I arrived at the appointed time. A young man in the receiving bay told me to stay with the car, and someone would be with me shortly. There were no other customers around, and 3 service advisors sitting at the counter behind computer screens. I waited for more than 5 minutes for one of them to get up and come over. He asked if I had an appointment. Yes He asked why I brought the vehicle in. I don't mind discussing this, but I thought he was expecting me. Then he asked if I could leave the vehicle overnight. No, I can't. I inquired about how long does it takes to check the OBD codes. A few minutes? Maybe an hour? He said, yes, it doesn't take long once the technician gets to the vehicle. But their technicians are busy, and they can't do a diagnosis until 24-48 hours after the vehicle is checked in. So what's the point of scheduling an appointed time to have my car worked on? They didn't warn me about this when I called in to make the appointment. I drove half an hour to get here, wasted my time and gas, and they don't respect the Honda owners enough to keep an appointed time for a service? read more

Came in to check out a "Lexus f-sport" and ran the vent numbers and wasn't a f-sport. Also, the car dealer Hash try to run game on me and told me three other people was waiting to buy the car and found out he was lying. To make matters Hash told me another dealer was currently trying to sell the car to someone else and even had a act for the dealer to "fake" video tape car as if he was going to sell the car. As of 8/7/2025 the Lexus is still listed as a F-sport to which is not a F-sport. Lastly,the some of the other car dealers were vaping in the parking lot!!! I bought a car from Ron at Hayward Honda last week. A CRV 2024 gas car. I was not impressed by the sales person however he was friendly but I could tell he was hungry to sell a car. I bought the car not based on his sales pitch but because it seemed like a good deal and the car was exactly what I was looking for. A few days later I noticed the weather stripping on passenger side door was hanging down after my daughter go in the car and closed the door. So I took a look and the stripping was totally loose and could be pressed into place however that is a temporary fix it should be secured! I really didn't want to write this review but unfortunately I am. I bought my car here brand new in 2024. I have took it here twice, to get my oil change and tire rotation free with warranty which is very nice. May 29th I came to drop my car off for my oil change/tire ration and open recall. Before I picked up my car I was told from the service representative that I needed a new tire because I had a nail. I thanked him for letting me know, when I picked up the car they gave me a free car wash which was also nice. As I left the parking lot, I parked in CVS parking lot to dry off my car with a towel when I checked the tire that had a nail in it. I looked at tire to see that my Rims were chipped in two different spots :( there was even little pieces from the rim still there on the tire. I was very upset and disappointed to see that my car was not handled with care. I called the representative I was working with to address what happened. He said he would talk to the service Tech and check the cameras not exactly sure what that means, that I'm a liar? I have no reason to lie nor did I want to write this review. I have reached out and left a voicemail no one has even called or followed up with me about this incident. Someone should be held accountable and be responsible for the damage. Why should I have to pay money out of my pocket for it to be fixed?? I don't care how small it looks it's unacceptable.
