He helped give me a rundown on what they'd do and when I could come in over the phone which I appreciated as I was still getting quotes from other places (who were all gonna be more expensive). Was able to drop off my car in the morning and get it back by that same evening. My car needed a special part that Midas had to go buy (they said first few places didn't have it) and I'm so happy and impressed that they really showed their effort in fixing my problem ASAP. I recommend this Midas location very highly! They are honest about what needs to be done (or not -- they don't try to upsell you) and do great work. I have never had any issues with the work they have done on my cars (been going there for more than 15 years). They recently diagnosed what I thought what a significant problem with my car as being something that did not require repair. They were right, and the car is running really well. Need and oil change or tire rotation, maybe even an inspection? Going here will be fine and you will probably have a good experience, needing anything else, go somewhere different, seriously call around. Made an appointment online specifically to have my thermostat changed in my pathfinder after getting a check engine light code for it. I was very specific in my appointment request of what I needed and when I could have the service done. A Midas employee has to review your request before you online appointment is confirmed. This is where things started to go wrong. They should have called me and told me that they would need to charge me $145 diagnostic fee in order to confirm the check engine light code and that they would also not order the part until that code is confirmed. This step would have saved me money and time, but it allowed them to make a quick buck (Hopefully the employees at least get Christmas bonuses based on this business model). I was asked when I got there if I authorized the diagnosis confirmation and first hour of labor. Of course, i said yes, as i assumed they would have the part after confirming my appointment and service request. 20 minutes later I'm told they don't have the part, it would be a couple of days to get it, it would be $438 dollars to repair, and due today was $145 (they did give me the $10 off coupon) so after taxes it was $138. Well, that was a hard lesson learned for me in how they do business. I did authorize it without realizing that they wouldn't actually be doing any repairs, my fault for not asking more specific questions, I guess. Took for granted that the appointment requests were read prior to confirmation. I think what really made me decided to never use Midas again along with discouraging any other people who ask me and the people reading these reviews to decide if this is really where you want your car repaired, is that I watched a couple of male customers come in and have their vehicles diagnosed with issues without being charged and even one of them were told that they should go back to where the installation was completed on the part they were having trouble with. They were genuinely looking out for them. Check engine light = automatic $145 diagnosis charge, especially if you're female; go somewhere else where your money will actually go to the repairs. I hated to learn this lesson about them right before Christmas, when money is so tight, and this is the only family vehicle we have. This Midas location is my go-to mechanic in Leesburg. They have done everything from simple oil changes to more complex work. They have always given me all the information I need to make the best choices for me and my vehicle without pressuring me to get unnecessary work done. On the rare occasion of them being short staffed and taking longer to get a quick oil change done than the time quoted, they offered me a discount to apologize without me even asking. James is especially knowledgeable about cars and even though he knows more than most of his customers, he doesn't talk down to them about the work that needs to get done. They also know the limitations of their shop and will refer you out if you need specialty work, like something only the dealership can do. I recently needed an urgent oil change before a long cross-country drive for a funeral. They couldn't fit me into their schedule and I honestly felt like I was sneaking behind their back to get it done at a competitors. Despite that, when I called the shop with some concerns, James took the time to help me out and also made me feel better about going somewhere else. "It's just an oil change," he said. YEP, IT'S ALL TRUE: KINDNESS AND PROFESSIONALISM AT THE MIDAS AUTO REPAIR SHOP IN LEESBURG, VA! I wasn't expecting this but it happened. Upon arrival in Leesburg I began having car battery issues with my Mini Cooper S. A local auto parts store tested my car battery and confirmed, "Yep, your car battery is DOA and needs to be replaced asap." They directed me down the street to the local Midas auto repair shop to get help. Later that day at the Midas auto repair at 10 Catoctin Circle NE in Leesburg, VA something strange happened that we are told daily on the news that never happens anymore: I received professionalism, service over profit, and the height of kindness at a auto repair shop. Needless to say, I was surprised! It all started with this Midas auto repair shop doing what I said needed to be done: install a brand new car battery. However, as the automotive technician handed my car fob back to me he noted that there was an issue with my headlights. I immediately leveled the accusation that this auto repair shop wasn't forthcoming about this and other issues with my car. The technician maintained they did what I asked. I said that's not the point because I was (in my highly defensive mind) expecting another auto repair shop rip off scheme, this time in Leesburg, VA. Because I've been ripped off before. I went on the verbal attack that this was just another "she's a female" so let's make up a bunch of stuff to outlandishly charge her for not fixed bucket full of "surprise problems!" This is when the store owner, James Marsh, stepped in to handle the defense of his Midas shop in the case of "Fraud and High Crimes in Auto Repair Shops Against Unsuspecting Women With Limited Resources." As judge and jury, I kept cutting off James who I immediately assumed was just another criminal auto repair shop owner. After a series of accusations by me and an attempt to defend the honor of his shop, James asked me (with a slightly raised voice), "Can you please listen to what I am trying to say to you?" I shut up expecting to be kicked out auto repair shop. That's when James told me HE WAS TRYING TO HELP ME. WTF?! Did James REALLY wanted to to find out what was REALLY wrong with my car?! found that hard to believe. After all, I had been ripped off with anything related to cars, from buying to repair. Why would this be different, I thought. James spent almost two hours (with me standing and watching ) as the sun went down in Northern Virginia as he looked into all functions tied to the electrical system of my car, re-testing my old battery (and found it was properly operating). James asked and explained questions to me about what happened, in what order did they happened and what happened next type of questions. I dropped being suspicious of James because I began to see what he was asking and doing was ACTUAL DETECTIVE WORK I knew was super expensive that at this time I couldn't afford to pay for but James gave his precious time and valuable expertise to me anyway! As I write this, I'm still amazed. Also I'm in awe of his generosity to a stranger. I wasn't expecting any of it but the owner of this Midas shop gave it. James didn't have to do any of it, he could have kicked me out and said it's the Mini dealership's problem but he chose instead to helped me! This review of the Leesburg Midas repair shop on 10 Catoctin Circle NE ended as follows: Last night, with me hold the store's flashlight and James sitting in my Mini Cooper, he ruled out the car battery as the problem and said he would go into the U.S. automotive database armed with information he gathered from me and my car. James admitted he didn't know what was wrong but he look that night to see what he could find online. James made another appointment for me to come in the next morning with, hopefully, the automotive mystery solved. James said his shop would: 1) reinstall my old but good battery, 2) reverse all charges for new unneeded battery and labor to zero, and 3) find the report from Mini regarding these issue with their cars. Dear reader, James did all three. James and Wayne (UB) sent me away from their auto repair shop with instructions on what to say to the Mini Service dealership a few miles away and a hard copy of the EXTENDED LIMITED WARRANTY that should provide repairs AT NO CHARGE to these problems plaguing my car! The only thing James and Wayne asked of me is to report back to them about what happened at the Mini dealership. I told them, "Of course I will." My Mini Service appointment is scheduled for next week. I also told them that in the meantime I will write the most amazing Yelp review of my life about my experience at their auto repair shop obtaining car repair services. This is that report, folks! James, the owner of Leesburg Midas, is an exceptionally honest and fair businessman. I brought my car in with an AC problem that proved difficult to diagnose. After several unsuccessful attempts by Midas and a significant outlay of money I took the car to the dealership for a a second opinion and the mystery was solved. Had the story ended here I would have been a very unhappy customer. But I wrote a letter to James explaining the situation and asking for a refund. Nissan Browns' dealer in Sterling VA auto repair advised I pay $1500 for an O2 sensor when my "service engine repair" light appeared. As a result of taking my car to Midas, they suggested the fluids of the vehicle be cleaned along with air cabin filter and not only fixed my car but charged only $180. I have been going to this place for over 10 years and up until this point I have had nothing but exceptional service. For some reason the past two visits have been suspicious. The first visit I came in to get an inspection and my car made absolutely no sound at all but I was told I needed two new brakes/rotors and after I left, it was like clockwork how the noise of screeching came. I ended up going back to get an estimate of over $800 to fix two brake and rotors, of course I did not agree to the service but luckily my husband fixed it. It was suspicious that there was a metal piece wedged into my brake pad causing a split (my left rear brake pad was in perfect condition by the way minus the split) and so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went a few months later for an oil change...same thing happened, I arrived and there was no noise coming from my car and then when I left, 2 hours later there was a noise coming from the rear left brake. My husband checked it out and found that they forgot/neglected to screw back one out of two bolts (why would they be messing with my brakes if I went in for an oil change?!?) I was with my husband when he fixed my brakes and rotors so I learned as well as double checked that everything was in its proper place. I saw with my own eyes that both bolts were there. It's very suspicious that out of 10 years I have had absolutely no issues with this Midas and all of a sudden there has been 2 issues back to back. read more

Dropped my car off for a state inspectio and a vibration in the front end. Got a call within a couple hours after they test drove my car. They recommended a tire rotation and wheel balance. Inspection came back good. James was who I was dealing with and he was very professional and didn't take advantage of the fact that I'm a woman. Midas shops across the Northern Virginia area have a solid reputation for being honest, so trying this location when we moved to the area was a no brainer. They take both appointments and walk-ins, but I'd recommend an appointment. There is a small waiting area with chairs and free wifi, as well as a TV always tuned to a home improvement show. The front desk guys are friendly and happy to talk about the details of your repairs. The thing I like about this place is that they don't to upsell you or make things sound exotic/beyond your comprehension. They're approachable, honest, and conservative. I took my car in here for new brakes this summer and they proactively told me I didn't need them yet. I don't think every shop would have done that. They're also good about flagging what auto repairs are on the horizon. I've heard them present multiple options at different price points to a customer, understanding that not everyone always has a couple hundred dollars to throw at a repair. I just brought my brakes in for service after quite some time of the rear brakes squealing and after getting the a-ok from another Midas shop when I first noticed the issue. These guys really took their time to assess and diagnose the problem. I will forewarn you that there is a charge for brake diagnostics of about $30 but if work needs to be done that charge goes towards the overall costs. They finally diagnosed it replaced my warn roters. They also thoroughly explained everything that they saw in plain English while not treating me like some dumb female who doesn't know anything. Which I'm always appreciative of. They did take a bit longer than planned but I'd rather them take their time and do a proper job. I will totally use this Midas again. And go online as they have coupons which I forgot about at this visit. read more

I generally try to steer clear of big chain auto places, whose overhead and impersonal nature tend to be a negative in both the price and service department. But when my muffler met its unfortunate demise after decades of loyal service, my usual shop suggested I price out a muffler at a parts store and also check out Midas. Turns out their price for cost and labor wasn't much more than the price of getting the part itself at Advanced Auto. What's more, technician David Miller did an excellent job diagnosing and explaining what was going on with the exhaust system. When the ultimate repair likely exceeded the value of the car, we found a middle ground that would ensure the car's viability. I'd also called back and requested an oil change, but when that fell through the cracks, they were quite apologetic, performed the duty very quickly and also gave a deep discount on it. I may be crazy, but I get a very honest and service-oriented vibe from this shop, and wholeheartedly recommend it. read more

I brought my car in because there was a grinding sound when I braked, and also to get an inspection done. They fixed the grinding issue, however, they failed my inspection because the 'bushings were rusty and had to be replaced' and because the car was an older Acura, had to send out for specific bushings. For those and the manhours, the bill was going to be $1100. I brought my car somewhere else and they said the bushings were a little rusty but okay and passed the inspection. Two months later the car is doing fine. It was a good lesson to get a second opinion for something expensive. read more

I brought my car here a few months ago, I had recently moved to the area so I didn't know any better but BEWARE, they are all SCAMS & CHEATS. They charged me ridiculously high prices for VERY little amount of work, the price constantly kept changing with every conversation/update when they were only due to fix one thing? They never filled up my anti freeze to the correct line, and when I received my car back it REEKED of antifreeze. COLBY THE MANAGER spilled my UNOPENED bottle of anti freeze everywhere in my backseat. When I went in to tell them what happened they strictly told me it wasn't their problem and to leave the property. Keep in mind the bottle was unopened (seal still intact, I have also taken my car to the shop twice this week for tires and other maintenance and I still have the bottle of anti freeze in my car and it has not spilled since.) THEY DELIBERATELY POURED IT INTO MY BACKSEAT. Worst service ever, please don't waste your money or time. LABOR REVIEW: they replaced my thermostat and when I recently took my car to Chevy (last week) the service department manager told me I needed to replace it (already only after a few months) due to it being incorrectly & poorly installed and causing my fan to constantly run. I went back again today for a simple oil change on my beaten up Toyota, printed a $10 coupon that Midas sent me and presented it to Midas folks when the oil change was done. Well, they only gave me $5 instead of $10! They claimed it wasn't relevant to the oil change they performed. Then he presented me with "suggested" repairs to my car, totally close to $2000! I went to this location on black Friday, I needed emissions done. I just felt like this was going to be a big pain, I drove in, very few cars parked in front of the business. Proceeded to walk in, noticed the waiting room was empty. I was like cool. Looks like I came to wright place. I asked the guy behind the counter. Is it possible to get an emissions test, his response, while waving his hands in the air the hole time( we're just way to busy, you can leave it with me, I might be able to get to it, I might not). I was floored, no customers were even there, so I went to Goodyear, wright up the street, same thing waiting room empty, was told there to busy, so I went to the tire shop, waiting room was packed, they were actually busy. Was just going to leave, but I said what the heck. Let's try the tire shop. Recieved an oil change and tire rotation, they never topped off my fluids and they didnt put air in my tireds. The staff was friendly and communicative, letting me know the situation with my vehicle as soon as possible. Called ahead for an appt. and got in on a Sat. morning at 8am. The staff are friendly and seem knowledgable. They did take longer than I thought they should for an oil change and tire rotation(hour and 15 minutes)but it was fine. Go on line and get their coupon($28) or you'll be paying about 7 or 8 bucks more. I went to Midas because after going to Hogan and sons around the corner and having them spill oil on my wife's engine to the point that it smoked like it was on fire, I thought i'd give Midas a chance. No more Hogans for me not after that and also having their guy put a nic in my fender on my car. Update: Went back for an oil change on 7/10/12 and they had me in and out in 45 minutes.
