Took the "coupon" from their website for an oil change. That 29.99 turned into over $200 and bullying us into a diagnostic fee that was "mandatory". Update on my horrible experience with this Midas location. Had my oil changed at the same time I had my tires replaced. Saw some spotty oil spots in my garage. Last week it got progressively worse to the point it was a puddle. Took it to a reputable oil change place and they discovered the oil filter was not on completely it was so loose they were able to tighten it by hand before using a proper tool to secure. I purchased an alternator from another Midas location in January. The alternator died on my way home from out of town, but I made it to a safe location where I could have the battery and alternator tested. The battery had a full charge, but the alternator had no charge. Since this was the closest location to where the alternator stopped working I had the car towed there. The alternator was covered for one year parts and labor so there should have been no charge, however they said my battery was dead which it was not since I had it tested less than 24 hours prior to having the car towed to their location. I was told if I did not purchase a battery from them they would not honor the warranty of the replacement alternator. I was basically forced to purchase a $200 battery or void the warranty of the new alternator. It is unfortunate I cannot rate them less than one star. read more

I had a appointment at 1:30pm for an oil change today. The man at the front told me it would be an hour wait. No problem, it's Saturday, I understand. An hour went by and it still didn't look like my car would get back. I asked the guy if they double book appointments. He said they just got behind and equated it to a doctor's office (I chuckled at that). I asked when it would be taken back, since it was over an hour. He said he didn't know, there were still others ahead of me and could schedule me a different day. I said, "well then, appointments must mean nothing"- to which this dude replies flippantly," well ma'am, we aren't a Jiffy Lube". I blew-up. I said," are you serious right now?! can't believe you just said that to me!" He started to walk away, so I said, "give me my keys, give me my paperwork", and walked out. Terrible experience. Initially took it in to have the alternator replaced but the real problems started as soon as I left. Had to take it back because charging issue persisted. Manager claimed the new alternator was 'bad' so they replaced again. Then the belt started squealing. After two more return visits (4 total) and several more replacement parts, I took vehicle to a reputable shop down the road. That shop removed the idler pulley that Midas had installed to discover Midas charged me full price for the OEM Honda part but used aftermarket part for the repair. I returned to Midas to give them one more chance to make it right and at least credit me for the part they were dishonest about. Manager declined to do anything about it and told me to have a nice day. read more

I will never go back to this place. I picked my car up one day after they had it for a couple of days due to my tire needing to be replaced. When I picked it up they said my back window was accidentally cracked and it had just poured. They put a piece of plastic over my seat and told me my seat got a little wet and will dry quickly. When I got home I checked my seats and they were SOAKED. It took my over 3 hours to dry my seats. They made it seem like it was no big deal but now I worry about mold getting on my seats. read more

Just don't do it! I repeat, don't do it. It's a mistake to take your car here! Here's the scoop. I took my Toyota in to have a broken engine mount replaced so I could take it to another shop to repair I spoke with Jason about an engine warning light and had them perform a diagnostic test. I was told that the test indicated that I had a oxygen sensor part that needed to be replaced. Also, the test had indicated that I had a problem with the ASB system with a possible corroded connector. I was told that they couldn't do this and I should take it to the dealer. I paid approximately $250 to have the sensor replaced which took three trips from their mobile parts supplier to bring the correct part. The next morning I took it to Morehouse Welding to repair the exhaust system. I informed Jake that Midas had replaced a bad oxygen sensor. He informed me that the sensor was not bad. The problem was that I had a cracked flex pipe that was sucking in air which would have given a faulty warning. Jake stated that any experience shop manager would have known that. The correct course of action would have been to have me come back after the flex pipe repair. However, that wouldn't have netted Midas over $200. I consider this nothing more than fraud at worse and sheer incompetency at best. You decide! You've been warned! Just do read more

When you pay $1,000 over standard price compared to local automotive repair shops to have Midas service your vehicle in a timely and efficient manner you expect to have quality service. Unfortunately, this was not the case for me. Monday evening after the initial repairs were completed for what was originally diagnosed a new warning light appeared by the time I got home (13 minute drive). The new problem was related to the brakes which were just repaired earlier in the day. I called Ben, the manager, the next morning and he said that it was just a coincidence and they'll make a new repair. I paid an additional amount to have the new problem repaired. I picked up my car, and later that evening a new warning light came on. This time it was an icon of a wrench. I called Midas to ask about the wrench icon and the mechanic said it was a coincidence and not related to the repairs they did. I took my vehicle to a new repair shop the same day and asked them to diagnose the wrench icon. They diagnosed the issue as exactly what Midas repaired a week earlier. Stating that I needed a new part which was just installed. At this point, I showed them my Midas receipt and they were astounded by how much I paid ($1000 over what they would quote) and noticed a part that was repaired that wasn't needed (this was the part I paid additional for the next day with the new warning). They explained that the original part that was faulty caused all my other issues. At this point, I called Midas and the mechanic told me to drop it off, so I did after hours. The next day Ben called me to share that he wasn't sure why my vehicle was there because there is nothing wrong with it. I asked him to read the other automotive repair quote and he did. He explained that it wasn't their work that caused the new warnings. (Please note that Ben a week earlier admitted when I dropped my car the first time that he doesn't know anything about cars, just manages the place and his technicians are the experts, so let's see what they say. Now the same person is telling me nothing is wrong with my vehicle.) I asked for a refund for the parts that didn't need to be replaced according to a second opinion. That was denied. I asked for the repairs to be done again. Ben said why, there is nothing wrong with your car. No warning lights are on and the brake lights are off. I explained that the warning icon comes on while I drive and when I park I manually lift the brake pedal for the brake lights to turn off. Midas did end up putting a new part in ONLY because it was under warranty. Not because they own any of this as their fault. Now I'm out $2,556 for work I don't know I can trust, $200 for a part I never needed, $119 for another company to diagnose the problem for Midas, and 7 days of complete frustration. You have work to do for a company that specializes in brakes and applauds its customer service standards. I'm extremely disappointed and would not recommend your company or store to anyone. I recommend other customers to save their money and shop locally with people who have the best interest of their customers. read more

Back in December I had an unexpected failure of my alternator in my Lexus GS. Fortunately I was about 500 feet from the Midas location on Cincinnati-Dayton Rd. On short notice, they got my car in and replaced it and had me back up and running in about 12 hours. I was so impressed with the professionalism, communication and timeliness of the repair that I advance paid for a $2300 Y Pipe replacement. As soon as the part came in, I was called and was able to drop my car off and have it back in a few hours. My car sounds like it did off of the show room floor again. We are normally conditioned to believe that every time we drop our car off at an auto repair shop we are going to be ripped off to the point that our ears bleed with needed repairs to the doo dad converter that bibulates the regulator that controls the go-fast stabilizers. I got exactly the repair and the cost I expected and was very pleased with the engagement of the staff and and updates as they occurred. read more

I would suggest going to a different location or business as appointment times mean nothing to these folks. Booked a 1:00pm appointment over the phone for a conventional oil change. Dropped the car off, they said it would be done within an hour, and they would call when it's done. 2.5 hours go by and we call them at 3:30 asking what the delay is, and they say they're just pulling the car in. We drive up there at 4:00 and we see one of the employees getting in my car to take it INTO the garage for its oil change. There are no other customer cars in the lot at this time, so my car was the last one they worked on. That means they worked on all the other cars that may or may not have arrived after my appointed time before getting to mine. Over an hour later and we are still left waiting. Finally got the car back after 5:15. They are lucky I had a day off and nowhere else to be, otherwise I would do more than write a negative review. For those with tighter schedules, I would go somewhere else that honors appointment times; especially for something as simple as a conventional oil change. read more

Awful. I don't find the need to say this much but if there was the ability to give this place less than one star, I would do it in a heartbeat. I can be very specific on the reason that I will never go back to this location. If I remember correctly, his name is Mark and I believe he may be the manager. It seems like he never has a day off because every time I've gone there he is there. I've actually tried to go there just to avoid this guy. Unfortunately the reason this person rubs me the wrong way so hard, is that he is really trying to sell. And as much as I can appreciate that, he goes about it the wrong way. Every time I've been in there he tries to up sell the synthetic oils with some horror story about, "A guy who was in last week, and he didn't go with a synthetic and his engine blew up and it cost him $4,000 to get the engine replaced. I'd hate to see that happen to you. I really would. But you know, I understand it's your choice. I just hate to see anything bad happen.". In fact one time, when we went back and forth and my repeated attempts to decline the synthetic oil were ignored, they put it in and charged me for it anyway. When he was ringing me up he made it sound like that's what I wanted. When in fact I told him several times that's not what I wanted. That was the last time I went there. I actually have gone to the location in Middletown. This location is literally 90 seconds from my house. Middletown, about 10 or 15 minutes. Totally worth the drive. Here's the deal, when it comes to oil, check your manual! In fact, the wrong oil can not only do damage to your vehicle but it may create warranty problems if it does damage your vehicle. You need to put in the recommended OEM oil! The manufacturer knows best. Mark at Midas does not! Would I go back? Absolutely not. I had gone several times. I tried. But each time I left there more frustrated, aggravated and just completely annoyed with the manager. The other guys, seem to be nice enough guys and didn't have a problem with. But they're not the ones that you have to sit in the waiting room with and deal with when you're checking in and checking out your vehicle. Not worth it, I'm done. And, if you don't want to take my word for it, from what I've seen of the other reviews on here, they all follow suit with what I'm saying. read more

Bottom line, the car was supposed to be ready at 1:30, it was finally ready at 2:45. Cody the mgr told me there was no way that he was giving me any kind of discount for my inconvenience. I reminded him that I drove in another car for another oil change, and he said he still wasn't going to do anything. He had the brass to tell me that "he did keep my informed on the delays and new schedules". I pointed out that he had not, the only way I knew was by calling in advance--he did nothing proactive. Needless to say, I left without leaving the second car--I am guessing it would have taken these guys a couple of days for a second oil change. You can get a much better deal...anywhere else. I took a car there years ago for a break job, and the breaks required a very specific pad that I was charged for, only to find out about 25k miles and two new rotors later that the wrong pads were put on. Just recently I took another car there, the manager set me up for the "worst case" scenario and tried to scare me when I dropped it off, then wanted to charge me $600 for a simple job. I paid him $50 for the diagnosis and then took it to another garage and paid $260 (including parts) to have the work done. Buyer beware. read more

I went in with an overheating issue, I was told I had a bad thermostat and that is was going to be 500 for a replacement. I went ahead and had them do it, the next morning I was called and they told me car continued to overheat and that they couldn't repair the issue at their store. So at the end of the day I paid 500 dollars for my car to leave in the same condition in was dropped off in. Take your money elsewhere, their dishonest staff consist of people trained in nothing more than using big words to make customers think they know what they're talking about when in reality they're there to do nothing more than con you out of your money. When my car was returned to me, the gift card was gone. I looked all over my car and in my purse to make sure it wasn't my mistake. It wasn't. I would suggest people find an alternative location to have their car cared for. Although they are nice mechanics, they will falsely get you to fix things that doesn't need to be fixed. I went in there November 2015 for a check engine light. They ended taking $100 from me to test it. It's too late now but you can simply take it to an auto parts store and they can check for free. After the check they told me that the reason the check light is on is because I need a new timing chain because it's old. I was really surprised by that as usually timing chains don't usually have a life expectancy on them. They were estimating $2200 to fix replace everything! I told them I would think about it and they tried to scare me into getting it done saying the car engine can blow anytime! So I got a second opinion from another mechanic my friend referred me too. They told me that the check engine light would not come on for a timing chain! After they checked it, it was something related to my vvti engine and doesn't pose absolutely any threat to my vehicle.
