I brought my car in for a simple brake replacement, which was a costly expense, and unfortunately my vehicle has not been the same since. Before the service, my car was not making any unusual noises. Immediately after the brake work was completed, it began making a constant squealing noise while driving. I've now returned to the shop three times, and no one has been able to identify or fix the issue. The noise only started after the brake replacement, yet I'm still left with the problem. What should have been a routine repair has turned into an ongoing frustration. For the amount I paid, I expected quality work and a proper resolution. Looking back, I should have paid more attention to the 2.8-star reviews and gone somewhere more reputable. I'll be taking my car to Pep Boys or another credible shop to have the issue properly diagnosed and fixed. This has been one of the worst experiences I've had with an auto repair shop, and I will not be returning or recommending this location to others. read more

Showed up before 4pm and the website said they were open until 5. Drove a half an hour at least to get there and when I got there, the guy in the office came out and said they could NOT do an oil change. No other cars were in the bays. I counted at least 4 employees there. I suppose they will all get paid for that last hour for just cleaning up. Said his guys worked hard this week and he was giving them a break. I have no idea when they started that break since I was there before 4 and they were supposed to go until 5 and not another customer was in sight. When did businesses start turning away customers to clean up and leave at the exact moment of closing? I remember working until close of business and then cleaning up. Took car in for a burning smell. Thought it was one thing but it was an axle! I was able to get my car towed in looked at repaired. Got the axle water pump and belt fixed as well as lights replaced. They made the accommodation to fix it the same day! Don't know to much about car labor prices but right now it seems to be worth the money. read more

I brought my car into this location with a broken sway bar endlink. Simple fix, if you possess the correct new part. Midas did indeed have the replacement part. However, the incompetence of the technician and manager lent itself to forgetting to install the washers necessary to prevent the new part from breaking. Fast forward one week and the new part has broken leading to a new version being installed by another mechanic about 2 hours away. Since I was away from this location with a broken car, I was not able to have them fix it nor would I trust them. This has lead them to refuse giving me a refund due to their incompetence. I went for an oil change. while I was waiting, the man behind the counter told me that they found some issues with my car. He said I needed brakes and rotors for the front and back, and new calipers. He quoted me $1900 for the service! I took my car for another opinion, I only needed front brakes and rotors. Parts $150...labor 100...grand total $250!!!! What a bunch of lying crooks. Have went here for all my oil changes and rotation of tires. Reason i do is because they check all fluids. This was the last time i would ever step foot in a Midas location!!! Had a break light out in rear window asked them to change bulb. Manager said this WOULD NOT be a problem. As i was watching car light being changed mechanic looked very confused and called a other person over..than i look and manager is now looking--he comes out and says wire was cut on light and could not be repaired-Problem is i never have had light changed so it had to be done here. He said the only place it could be done was at dealer. Took to local gas station i get inspection done and they took a pic of and saw light bulb broke in socket and it was clearly done at Midas. Now i decided to give them a chance to repair it and they told me i declined service for light which was NOT THE CASE. After having my car inspected and some exhaust work done in January 2017 at this location, i was pleased and confident in their ability to provide a quality service. Boy was i wrong. i have been using this mechanic for years and i must say i will never ever patronize this business again after how i was treated on Friday the 7th of April. Two weeks ago my car failed to start when i turned the key, no problem i thought, ill have it towed to Midas, i mean hey I've been using them for years now and its conveniently located near my home. So i get a call the following morning telling me that it wont be taken care of until late afternoon because of all the diagnostics needed to be run to find the problem. so imagine my surprise a mere 2 hours later i get a call telling me they found "the Problem" and all the car needs is a new battery. Ok no problem how much and how long? $120 for the battery and $50 for the labor of putting it in, we'll call you when its done. hmmm? really seems kind of expensive to just unbolt an old battery and replace with a new one, but ok no problem, do it, I'm happy its just the battery. so of course i was curious as to why they had me pull away while the service engine light was still on but i was assured that it was from swapping the battery and it will go out in a few days time. Ok no problem. your the mechanic, you know better. (took 2 weeks to go out) literally the day before the car died again. Fast forward 2 weeks later and surprise surprise the car will not start again. the brand new battery is dead! Now i know why it didn't take as long as it should have. apparently they found the dead battery immediately and failed to identify why it was being drained. so instead of identifying the real issue they sold me a battery and sent me on my way with a service engine light glowing on the instrument cluster. So i call and complain and ask for a tow back to the shop and am immediately hit with, "well our tow service has reasonable rates.... stop.... I'm not paying a simple tow fee for a car 3 blocks away that should be running right now because you failed to find the problem. that's just ridiculous, the tow should be gratis. After being insulted over the phone, I had enough I said i want a refund and i will be there in 10 minutes. i arrive asked for the refund and was immediately barraged by not one but two managers who refused the refund, refused the tow, and a bunch of mechanic jargon that they had ran diagnostic tests that showed everything else was fine it was just the battery. Of course I'm furious at this point for such inconsiderate and rude behavior and failure to address the issue as their fault for not doing the job i brought the car in for in the first place, for failing to find the real issue and denying any fault up and down. What really happened to "the customer is always right?" well not at Midas in Prospect Park apparently. so now I'm hollering and they are both hollering the fat one with the growth on his neck starts patronizing me to read the computer printout in a most arrogant childish fashion and all i could do was repeat over and over that you guys failed to find the issue, sold me an expensive new battery that is now dead, and I am not satisfied in the least. All it needed was a battery, Really? then how does a brand new battery die after 2 weeks? It doesn't take Mr Spock to see the logic that there is another issue that was missed irregardless of the so called diagnostic tests that they claim they ran in a mere 2 hours after I received the first call and was told it would take all day. needless to say, sub-par execution in failing to discover the real issue, grifter mentality in selling me an expensive now dead and useless battery, and rude and obnoxious behavior from a disinterested and unhelpful management that refused to accept responsibility. Never again will i go here for my car irregardless of their attempt at fixing their bad reputation they had built for themselves over the past few years. all they wanted was to charge me more money for more work instead of fixing the issue they initially missed. So a big old F U on my way out the door and now my car will be tip top come Monday after taking it to a different trusted mechanic. So no Dave, the alternator was not "fine". but thank you for the life lesson, you see they don't call it Midas for nothing, the king with the golden touch? yep that's about the going rate for getting "work" done at your location. they were all so nice and polite, until they realized they were wrong and immediately turned defensive and confrontational, granted i was pissed to say the least and im sure it rubbed off a little, hey no one likes being hollered at for screwing up i get it. but now i know they have no idea how to physically check an alternator and other various parts to fix a seemingly simple issue. Warning Do not use Midas muffler on Chester pike in Prospect Park... If you do, you better have someone check their work. The exhaust system they overcharged me to install has now fallen apart for the 3rd time in as many months. When I called to complain, the grease monkey that answered the phone gave me a hard time. Since the minimum rating I could give them is a single star, let me start with this. I went there to get my tire fixed since i ran a flat. The guy behind the counter took my tire inside and came back after sometime and told me that there was nothing wrong with it and that the problem was with the rim. It was not "circular". Well, i took it to another shop and they immediately checked it right infront of me and we found a tear in the tire. I ended up replacing it. THEY STOLE MY OBD READER AND LOOKED THROUGH MY PERSON ITEMS! First took my car here for tires and alignment. After getting my car back my alignment was worse then when I dropped it off!! Took it back and had a nail in my tire so I got a new tire and my alignment fixed. When I got my car back my tire pressure light was still on and was told I have to drive it for it to turn off. After getting home I also noticed my center console had been gone through and things moved around along with my OBD reader nowhere to be found. So after 2 visits I still have lights or issues with my car and they stole my OBD reader while going through my car and when calling they said all the coils do for me was get the tire light to turn off. read more

They do great work, but they ar every expensive. The parts they use are incredibly cheap, but they charge an arm and a leg for the labor.

Instead of a 30 minute wait we had to wait more than 3 hours, and they still weren't done. (For the car inspection) After 30 dollars off, I still paid $90 dollars, it feels like I've been wronged. They said that many things needed to be fixed like the gas cap. Which was unreasonable because I never had a problem with my car, obviously trying to rip me off (They overcharge you!). The whole experience will take too long so this is a summary. Another thing that annoys me, a Midas worker decided to put a Midas driver license plate frame on my car. Well after several suggestions, & searching the web I came across this particular Midas. I needed to be dealing with a company that was nation-wide. Got there early enough & Todd greeted us with professionalism & a smile. I relayed my situation to him & as soon as they could they had my vehicle hoisted up & attended to. had my sons car in on a thursday was told it needed a ball joint to pass inspection gave a price i told them to do the work 2 hours later got a call they could not remove the ball joint and damaged control arm trying (was done on other side last year without control arm damage different mech. ) so i had to pay additional $138.00 + tax reluctantly i agreed to pay when i picked it up i did not have current registration was told to come back and just need to do emission test went back on following wednesday was told they cant find paper work would just do a once over (owner rememberd me) they came back this time told me i needed rotors now less then 50 mile not happy very deceptive on plus side Todd was very nice (other owner not there second time) read more
