PLEASE READ if considering the Swarthmore location: I brought my Prius to this shop less than a…read moreyear ago to replace a front headlight. Less than a year later, the same headlight failed, so I returned and also got an oil change. They replaced the light under warranty and changed the oil, but significant issues followed that I believe violate consumer-protection laws. In their written service report (picture attached), the shop stated that the 12-volt battery was "inaccessible" and that "no starting issues [were] present." However, when I picked up my vehicle, it would not start. My battery had never died before this visit. Their written statements therefore appear misleading and demonstrably inaccurate. When I immediately reported the issue, the shop tested the battery and told me it was in "poor health" (approximately 20%). This testing--performed only after I questioned their initial report--proves the battery was in fact accessible and capable of being evaluated. A basic battery-health check is a routine and industry-standard service, such as when an oil change is performed, and the shop proved it had the ability to conduct it before returning the vehicle to me. Instead, they documented that no starting issues were present and simultaneously claimed the battery was inaccessible. Their later explanations were defensive and inconsistent, including claims about battery accessibility that I believe are misleading, as I have statements from other mechanics confirming that removing and checking the 12-volt battery on a 2010 Prius is relatively simple and quick. Notably, during a phone call (which the shop records), Aiden--who to be fair was polite and professional--explicitly acknowledged the error by stating, "They shouldn't have wrote that." Despite this admission, the shop's service manager was unreasonable and failed to take responsibility for the inaccurate report. Just look at how they respond to this review and you'll see what I mean by them not taking responsibility for what appears to me as obvious indisputable wrongdoing. They did offer a $50 discount on a replacement battery, but later increased the quoted price by the same amount (after claiming to realize the battery they needed was $50 more than they expected) -- effectively nullifying the promised discount. Because this shop is regulated under the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law, their issuance of a service report containing potentially inaccurate and misleading statements may implicate PA Code § 301.5, which prohibits deceptive or misleading representations. I will be filing a complaint with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protection so this matter can be properly investigated. This is not to mention all the minor hiccups along the way, such as after the battery was replaced when they gave me the keys to someone else's car. And when I got the right keys and turned my car on, it made a strange and concerningly loud rumbling sound I have never heard before. To be fair and honest, I acknowledge that Aiden and several staff members were polite, and the shop's courtesy ride service is convenient. However, these minor positives do not outweigh what I experienced as significant service errors and a lack of accountability.

I had a major service done here totaling nearly $3,500. While the mechanical work appears to be…read moresolid, the pricing was excessive and the customer service was disappointing. I was charged $132 for a cabin air filter, including $86 in labor -- for a job that takes 5 minutes. When I came back because the rotor was hitting the back plate, I politely asked if they could do something to make up for it -- even a small credit or partial oil change next time -- and got nothing but a vague "I'll take care of you." No accountability. No goodwill. Just inflated prices and indifference once they've got your money. I wanted to trust this shop, but I can't recommend a place that treats customers like this. If you're spending thousands, you deserve better communication, fairer pricing, and respect when issues come up.

I have been a customer of Mavis in Brookhaven for the last three years. During that time I have had…read morenothing but stellar service from the staff and mechanics. The staff are always courteous and friendly, while also being knowledgeable about the service Mavis provides and the pricing. And if there is a coupon or discount that they can apply, they are quick to make sure that they apply it. Thank you Jess! The mechanic are all professional and knowledgeable. All five of my cars that I brought to them for some type of service has always been done swiftly, correctly, and with care. What I appreciate the most is the fact that they don't treat me like a "dumb customer " but they take the time to give me all the information I need to make an informed decision, especially when at times it can be a large financial impact. Thank you to Ben and his team for always treating me with the upmost respect for the last three years. Mavis has a truly great team at this location, and a loyal customer.

tl;dr version: I do not recommend taking your car to this Mavis…read more If you insist, however, here are some recommendations: (1) Confirm the cost of whatever service you need multiple times, and be sure to ask about EVERYTHING: materials, labor, recycling fees, days-ending-in-y taxes. Bet on the fact that the price they quote on the phone is what THEY are treating as your minimum bid. (2) Confirm the date and time of your appointment multiple times. If you get a follow-up call confirming your date and time, don't think your adventure is over. DO NOT drive over to what you think is your appointment time without calling first. These guys moved the time AND DATE of our appointment without ever telling us, then blamed it on their "call center" when we asked, WTF? (3) Do NOT think you will work getting your car serviced in as part of a day full of errands. Plan to devote several hours to your Mavis experience. (4) Ideally, take your car to these guys only after getting your car fully inspected by a trusted mechanic. Our car had gone through its annual inspection with a garage we fully trust (Mano's--they are the best), and they said that our tires passed inspection but are getting toward the end of their life. We decided to just take care of the issue, so we took the car for new tires THE NEXT DAY. Mavis tried to convince us that our car needed a laundry list of additional work. The name of the game with these guys is UPSELL. You've been warned. (5) Don't expect clear answers. The guys at the desk were polite, but their answers to questions about charges and services were pretty...opaque.
