I have been coming here for a couple of years now and although I have moved to a different apartment and it's no longer convenient to come, I still bring my car here anytime it needs anything. The prices are affordable, they take appointments so I always bring my car in at the scheduled time and drop it off and pick up when I am ready. I have been here many times for oil changes and they work quickly. I went last weekend and asked for an oil change, two filters, and brake pads for my rear tires. When I was out of town and my brakes were squeaking a little, a nearby shop did a brake check and told me I needed rear brake pads. When I went to Midas this past weekend they told me that I still had about 40% life on my rear brake pads, and that I didn't have to change them at this time. I really trust them! They have never done me wrong, and I will keep coming back! read more

Had the best experience ever! First off I was worried that my car was not going to start and I needed to get to work, so I stopped here and was introduced right away by Josh Lara, he greeted me with a smile and was a genuine guy and explained to me that I needed a new battery and got it done in less than 10 mins and I was able to make it to work on time. I had a great first experience at the Midas on Convoy. I called ahead to get a general idea of how much it would cost for new rotors. While most places won't give you an idea of prices until they get you in the door, this Midas gave me a range for what rotors and pads generally run. (granted, I had a good idea of what the problem was and wasn't asking them to guess over the phone) I was able to get an appointment the next day. The new General Manager (Ruben) was super friendly, took the time to show me the repairs he was suggesting and didn't pressure me when I decided not to do all of them. They were able to put on new front rotors and brake pads, and change my cabin and air filters the same day, in about 1.5 hrs. And, to top off my experience, Ruben added in a complimentary oil change. So far, so good! I plan to return. read more

Came to Midas for an oil change after a misunderstanding at Toyota of Poway. Carlo helped me get in right away for a synthetic oil change. He was very upfront and honest about the pricing for the oil change and helped me understand the way that their pricing works (it wasn't difficult to understand he just wanted to be very open). When I asked about an alignment (as Toyota was trying to upsell me) he asked me a questions regarding my vehicle and turns out I did not need one at that moment. Jeffery G was the first person I saw when I arrived. He was so kind and personable. He checked the coupon I brought which did not match up with the oil that my vehicle did best with. He wanted to make sure that he did his best. He then extended the coupon so it would fit what I needed. He gave me time updates. When done he explained what else the mechanics found that might be necessary. I explained I had a personal mechanic that handled all major work except oil changes. He laughed and said most don't like to do oil changes. He accepted that. No push at all. Stayed exactly the same pleasant and efficient person. I was able to hear him interact with the next customer and he was just as amazing. Fast, efficient, affordable and so painless. I will definitely be back with all of my vehicle. I have to say that I have never experienced such great customer service and honestly. Being a woman I have been taking advantage of MANY times because of my lack of knowledge in the car dept. Dan was very honest about what I need to do and even gave me a time frame. This is the best Midas to go to in San Diego! Bryan was super supportive with helping me figure out what tires to get and gave me the best deals! I was overwhelmed with all the tire options, he was informative and super knowledgeable when it came to car stuff! He also helped me set up an oil change appointment. *Sigh* I hate doing this, really I do. I like the employees at Midas. They are friendly and polite, but 2 bad experiences has officially soured me. I'll let you draw your own conclusion by my experiences. For about 2 years I have been going here for oil changes & various repairs. My car has never fallen apart, leaked, etc, so I cannot and will not say these guys are crooks, buuuut... 1.) Almost all of my services have been at least an hour wait time, from oil changes to bigger complications. This is partly my fault, as I have never made an appointment. To avoid this wait, I arrived as soon as they opened on my last visit, and it still took an hour for the oil change, which then was recommended for further service & took a total of four hours for all-around break & rotor replacement. I'm a naive girl, but my buddy is a mechanic & performed this same service without a lift in 3 hours a few years ago; with a lift this shouldn't have taken more than an hour (according to him- would have gone to him but I live in a different state now). 2.) Thanks for the screw driver, guys! The visit before this I had some work done & they left a screw driver on my engine. My husband found it a week later when we refilled my windshield fluid. Just how well were you reviewing your work if you left a tool on my engine? 3.) Again on my last visit they also did a courtesy tire check and reported to me that my front tires were showing wear. I mentioned my rear driver has a slow leak. Their recommendation to me was just to get new tires, and they priced me out. If it's just starting to wear, why would I buy them now? Also, why didn't they check out the leak? Today I had the leak checked out by their neighbors, and turns out there was a nail in my tire. They patched me up free of charge, and recommend I wouldn't need tires for about 3-6 months. Midas is a busy place, they are frequently working on multiple cars at once, so maybe this is a problem of success? Regardless, I'm freeing them up to pay more attention to detail with others by taking my business elsewhere. read more

I would HIGHLY recommend Midas Tire/Auto Repair Shop. I called Discount tires and one other tire shop in the area but they didn't have the tire my AUDI required. This place said "come in and we'll take care of you asap!" I was a bit nervous coming with a deflated tire and having our three yr old. The front desk gentleman (Derrick) was so kind, respectful and helpful. He immediately took care of my car even though they were very busy!!!! We were on our happy way within thirty minutes YAHOOOOOOO!!!!!! A bonus...I was also offered a fresh cup of coffee and handed a brand new coloring book w crayons for our son. I have been a very happy customer of this Midas location since 2008. They had taken such good care of my 99 Toyota Tacoma. If Feb 2015 my engine light came on the the truck started sputtering. Midas did a diagnostics test and sent me home in tears with an estimate on a new engine. I am not a mechanic, I know nothing about engines but a man at my church lifted the hood and the plug wires were corroded and disconnected. He replaced the plugs and wires and the truck drives like new. I went to Midas and demanded my money back which I got but a lot of time lost. It is time for me to sell the Truck after 15 yrs. It has been and still is a good truck. I ran a CARFAX and found that Midas had reported 20,000 miles more then the tuck has NOW back in February. I also did something stupid and gave them another chance with my newly acquired vehicle. Midas did some work in the Dashboard for the A/C and all of the lights were coming on and the fuel gauge swings back and forth while driving. I have taken it back once and left it for a day and the issue was not fixed. The manager wants me to leave it for another day and I think this is quite enough. I don't have this much free time. The misreading on CARFAX is a problem and will take some time for me to get corrected. The manager at Midas on Coinvoy told me this is no big deal and wont cause me any problems. So far it looks like it may cost me $5K. I sent a message to Midas Corporate office in hoping to talk to someone higher because this is so sad for a shop that has been excellent for years. What happened in Jan 2015 at this location? Why such a terrible mess? read more

There's a good mechanic here. I forget his name, but he's the guy who is obviously in charge of the shop. Wears a different colored shirt, telling guys what to do, blah blah blah. He'll do the job right or won't do it if he can't. These guys also have a bunch of coupons in the mail, from the website, etc. so you don't have to pay full price for routine maintenance stuff. read more

I purchased my tires next door and they referred me here to have my new tires balanced. First, I was given a written quote by the manager for my vehicle. Came back the next day to get my tires balanced and someone else was working and they charged me more than the quote. I was really upset, but I needed it done and I had already made the appointment so I reluctantly agreed. Then, they said it would only take about an hour to balance my tires when it took them THREE HOURS. I was really disappointed with this place and left with a bad taste in my mouth. Bottom line: I won't come back here and will not recommend this place to anyone. I'm sure there are better reviews on here for shops to get your tires balanced. These folks have it easy because the tire shop next door practically gives them all the customers and they don't need to provide good customer service. read more

Heard on the radio about midas their $19.99 oil change. So I decided to stop by for my car's quick tune up. Everyone there was very nice and courteous. They would update me a few times on what's going on with my car; like what is done, what needs repairs and what is recommended. If you have never been here before the common questions that are asked are name, phone number, and address. I came for an oil change and was asked what type of oil my car uses. I know very little about my car and told them I didn't know. The man was nice enough to look up my car model to find out what type of oil I used. At the end, they went through the inspection checklist with me to tell what is good and what is recommended. I then paid the bill was in and out within 30 mins. I was able to get off of work early, ran over to my local Midas for an oil change and was shocked they are not accepting walk-ins... I always bring my cars here and walk-ins have never been a problem. I recommend this place to friends and family. I do not know if they had a change in ownership, but I was able to find a new place that is faster and more affordable. I do hope they work on their customer service and retention. I talked to one of the store employees and we got to know each other well. I told him I had just got out of school but was about start winter intersession classes.
