My name is Blanco Blaunko; following my visit with San Diego Wheels and Tires, I noticed Midas next door; while San Diego Wheels and Tires secretly advertise brake services, I was not comfortable because I saw no ad like the ad I noticed with Midas. And so I went inside Midas; came into contact with Tim, front desk; from the moment he and I begun conversation, he provided the upmost professionalism and customer service; and he kept me up to date with the services Auto Technician Armando Lomeli was servicing on my vehicle; and what I really appreciated was that Mr. Lomeli will show me the parts that needed replacement; and explained in detail what was wrong with the item to be replaced; and a second explanation from Tim. Mr. Lomeli is great in the service he provided me as a Midas customer; his sense of humor was a bonus. He took the time to speak to me and show me my vehicle while it was being worked on; and he went beyond the scope of mechanism; which I appreciated. He has character and personality; and while I see that other customers have posted negative comments about Midas, I personally did not feel that I was robbed of my money or that Midas did something to earn an extra dollar; if anything I believe Midas knows the consequences should they practice that way; its commonly known as a lawsuit!! Overall the price I paid today for my brakes, windshield wipers and belt was worth it; and to top it off, gawking something I pointed it. Personally, ask for Armando Lomeli to service your vehicle; he really takes care of it as if it was his own; and when he test runs it, he does it with care and awareness that its another persons' vehicle; that is based on my observation. And the timing, while some are complaining on yelp about timing; I rather Midas take their time to service my vehicle than to rush, rush and make a mistake. On February 10, 2024, I visited the Midas location at 3855 Convoy Street, San Diego, CA 92111 for a routine inspection, since I had heard a noise during braking. After an assessment, I was shocked to hear that my brake pads and rotors needed immediate replacement. This was perplexing to me, as I had a thorough inspection just 12 weeks ago on November 8, 2023, with an oil change, at this same location prior to an out of state road trip in which the brakes were deemed to be in perfect condition. Despite my reservations, I trusted the expertise of your technicians and authorized the replacement of the brake pads and rotors. However, the situation took a turn for the worse when I requested my old parts to examine them. Initially, the shop questioned why I wanted the parts, which raised further concerns. After some insistence, I was finally told I would receive them. Prior to leaving I asked again for the parts, and I was finally given the old parts. Upon inspection, I was astonished to find that the brake pads still had a substantial amount of wear left, and the rotors were in good condition. Attached are photos of both the brake pads and rotors. It is disheartening to realize that I may have been misled into unnecessary repairs that cost me time and money. As an older female, I believe I was taken advantage in this situation. I understand that human error is inevitable, and misunderstandings can occur. However, such a discrepancy between the assessment and the actual condition of the parts raises questions about the integrity of the service provided at this particular, Midas location. read more

I was driving around and my car was making a peculiar screeching sound so my first reaction is take it to my closest auto place. I pulled into Evans tires on Mission gorge. They said it was definitely the brakes and I should immediately get them changed out. The back and the front!! I freaked out and called my original brake spot. Midas on #convoy. The person on the phone was super friendly and reminded me their brakes are lifetime guaranteed and to come in. So here I am I brought my car in for a free brake inspection. The mechanic Jason that inspected my car said my brakes were fine. No need for replacement. I told him about the screeching sound and he took the time to look more into it. I am not only super happy that I do not have to spend unnecessary money but also with the customer service, their honesty and professionalism. I highly recommend coming to Midas for oil change, brakes or any other car problems because they will take care you honestly and if they can not they will offer good advice. I have used this Midas location for years, probably a dozen times in total. Today will be my LAST time using their services. Reason. I made a 1030am appointment for an oil change and alignment. Appointment equals reservation??? I was told over the phone that it would take about an hour and a half. I showed up and checked my van in early at 1015am. So I had some time to kill and simply went for a walk around Convoy, you know, get a little exercise. I come back at 12 oclock and see my van parked outside, not in a stall being worked on. So I ask the status. I am told the oil change was done and they were going to finish another car's alignment then mine would be next. How long? I ask. About a half an hour. Long story short they wasted 1.5 hours for the longest oil change ever. I could not waste more of my day so .... No Alignment for which I was scheduled. Thanks for Nothing. read more

I happen to stop in to this Midas on Convoy when I heard my car knocking. I was greeted by Tony the store manager, he was courteous and attentive to what I was explaining to him about my car making that knocking sound. He walked out with me and took a look, Tony knew what that noise was as soon as he heard it. Right away he called over his tech Armando, he took my car into the garage port and got right on it! They did a diagnostics test, discovered the problem and fixed my car within an hour. Both the manager Tony and his tech Armando were thorough and honest.After today I will be coming here from now on. Finding a decent, honest mechanic can be very stressful. Many people have horror stories about visiting the wrong shop. Fortunately, I happened upon the Midas on convoy, they are good mechanics who do their job well and charge fair prices. read more

DO NOT take your car here if you don't want to get ridiculously over priced and lied to. I took my car in to get my muffler fixed, they told me it had to be totally replaced, said it would cost $250 minimum. I told them to take my car down and got outta there in a hurry...i ended up going to Hong's Mufflers on el cajon blvd...$45 out the door and my car is running great!! they didn't even need to replace my muffler they re-welded it. And it only took about 15 min total from the time i pulled in! I extremely dislike Midas for this. never thought i would write a review on yelp, but they deserve this bad review for lying saying i needed something new when i didn't and then charging a ridiculous price for installation and the estimated time it would take. Great customer service and extremely prompt! I went in mid afternoon for an oil change and brake check as I was in the area for lunch and expected to leave my car there for some time. Although it seemed quite busy, I was on my way out of there in about 30-40 minutes for a great price! Upon entering I was greeted by a very generous man who I think was the manager or owner of the shop. He offered me a cup of coffee (they have one of those Keurig machines which was pretty convenient) and before I knew it, I was on my way out. Given that oil changes and brake checks are amongst the most frequently requested car services, this place is the epitome of what a quick stop service shop should be like. I love this Midas on Convoy!!!! I was in there the other day after my car was running a little rough, man the manager Tony and his tech Armando were on spot!! They did a thorough job, really know their stuff! They did a complete check of my car and I'm super glad they did! When I left there I was happy, my car was running better than ever and I felt safe to be driving. I went to Midas because I could no longer stand the grinding. All 4 rotors were shot, so I needed new pads and resurfacing of the rotors. I took it here because I've had good experience in the past, although I normally don't support the bigger chains. I got out of there paying a couple hundred less than I thought, and the whole process only took 3 hrs. I wasn't a victim of up selling on this occasion ( something which automatically gets my blood boiling) so bravo to the guys at Midas. read more

Stay away I wouldn't get my vehicle repaired here if I was stranded this location has the worst customer service along with poor quality of work there were a lot of short cuts took when my vehicle was being repaired. the level of work performed on my vehicle speaks the truth as in why I had problems. this location is poorly maintained and needs a excessive cleaning. the people working here don't care about you or your vehicle, they just want the money you have. read more

Excellent and speedy service. I found a coupon online for a full synthetic oil change and tire rotation, called in and asked for approximate wait time. I was told about 45 minutes once I arrived and it was a little under that time frame for the actually service. Jerry was great, very friendly and helpful. The staff tech Armando and manager Tony are knowledgeable and thorough, the best! I went in for my oil change, Armando made sure to inspect my car completely, he told me he couldn't do the alignment because my front tires were bald, he took me to my car while it was up in the air and showed me my tires. I went to Midas late on a Saturday afternoon with my mom's car. The muffler pipe was broken. They were busy and backed up but The manager Frank went above and beyond to fit me in to get a new pipe welded on to the car. Everyone was super friendly, upbeat and accommodating.
