I swore I would never come back to this shop but after visiting 3 other shops in the area over the last year I have to say that being bait and switched for an oil filter was par for the course. I was in a pinch to have service done same day so I was willing to give Midas another chance out of necessity. Chris answered my call to have an oil/tranny fluid change on my 05 sti. He got me an appointment with in two hours. He was super friendly/empathetic on the phone. When I arrived I noticed the old Gross coffee machine was gone and replaced with a new k cup machine. This place seemed different. I asked Chris if the ownership had changed. He said no and the owner came out and greeted me. I told him I had a poor experience in the past and he let me know the individual who Bait and switched me was no longer working there! He apologized for the experience and was super friendly. On to the oil change. I wanted to make sure the torque specs for the drain plugs were reset correctly. The shop allowed me to watch the job. Additionally they allowed me to bring my own oil ( Motul) and gear oil ( special s) which they used for the job. The technician took his time and did everything correctly. Unprofessional, thieves and cheaters. I have a very bad experience with this shop, I took my Ford Fusion to check my AC as it only works on speed 4. He told sure we can fix it but let us do diagnostic and see the fault, they charged me 175$ for this procedure, then they said they have to change the part of HVAC Actuator but it will cost me for this part over than 800$. I noticed that they are not experienced in doing their job so I told him thanks but I am going to take the car to Ford Sunnyvale, I took the car there they did another diagnostic, since they were not able to understand the fault mentioned in Midas diagnostic, it showed completely different fault, it took them 2 hours to fix and charged me only 156$ "not 800$". Don't waste your time and money and use this shop. I would suggest to the technicians, if you don't have experience with ACs don't accept customers with such requests just to make money. CHEATERS! Great customer service! I was helping my daughter move from Colorado to California when the brakes on my car started making noise. By the time we got to California, the brakes were in dire need of replacement - pads and rotors - and I had no idea where to go to get them fixed. We had always used Midas in Colorado so I went to the closest Midas near us in Mountain View which turned out to be in Sunnyvale and the experience was beyond what I could have imagined, in a good way! First off, the owner/manager (Ram?) was so nice and helpful. It was clear this was going to be an expensive repair and he found a nice discount special that Midas was running and applied that to the cost. Then, he told me that if we had had the brakes replaced before at Midas, the pads should be under warranty and advised that I call the Midas in Colorado and ask. I did and, sure enough, they were under a lifetime warranty. So another couple hundred of dollars were taken off! None of this would I have known if he hadn't told me. So, thank you, thank you!!! AND, I had a 5 mile walk ahead of me and asked if he knew anything about the buses running up and down El Camino, without hesitation, the manager said, "Oh, no! I'll drive you back" Awesome!! I ordered a battery and was told to come in on Wednesday noon for install. Upon arrival, the cashier said my battery was in. I was only person in store and I'm watching him fumble at the computer for about 10 mins. and I asked if there was a problem. He said he was imputing battery in computer. I said can't your service person go ahead with install. He got that started and it was done in less than 10 minutes. I go to pay and he's having trouble putting in transaction. He calls his boss and gets walked through the process, tells me to enter my card, the card appears to go through and he can't get printer to work. Back on phone with boss, more instructions, and he tells me enter card again. I do and printer finally prints receipt. I go home, check my credit card and see i was charged twice. I call store, tell him and I hear him talking to a lady, who I believe was the manager. She tells me she will call me next day, Thursday to straighten it out. No call Thursday or Friday. I filed a dispute with my credit card company. Why would you have a cashier who isn't familiar with computer? read more

Did a simple tire replacement. The mechanics did a good job but the man at the checkout counter tried to over charge me even though he gave me a quote with tax beforehand. I called him out on it and he tried to cover up by saying that he forgot to add tax before. I pointed out that he did include taxes and even if he hadn't, the tax that he was adding was over 20% of the entire bill! Eventually he gave me the original quote price. I chose to go to this shop thinking that a national chain wouldn't try and rip customers off like that. But I guess I was wrong. I really dislike these shady shops. I was naive to think the overall yelp rating could have been inaccurate but I was wrong. The manager was rude to me and their cost estimates are more expensive than another place I had checked. The bathroom didn't even have lights on. There are much better places to check and adjust your car. If you don't believe me, compare your cost estimates with a more reputable repair shop and you'll see what I mean. They need to get their act together! read more

Why give 5 stars? On May 13th, 2019 Israr, the man in charge that day, have given me and my boyfriend not just a good customer service but a wonderful and enriching one! Israr, a lively elderly man, aims to care for his customers. My bf and I drove two cars. My bf and I have been calling and comparing prices to other auto stores regards of tire change. When my bf found Midas in Sunnyvale to get an oil change for his car immediately he asks Israr and gave us a better and reasonable deal from the one we have plan to go to. "Nobody can give a better deal than that", Israr declares confidently. Israr did not just declares this word but also attests this claim to me. While waiting for my car, he politely offers me something to eat, make sure I'm hydrated, and shows me how he can give me a better deal with tire replacing and making sure that the quality is safe. Along with Israr, Jose the man who fixed my tires have given me a good service by giving more what supposed to be done. Jose did not just do his job well but he gives more by letting me know the breakpad is wearing off. This shows me they care for their customers. Really Great Experience. I took a chance on this Midas location because I had a bad experience at the one near my house. They were very friendly and helpful. The owner helped me get my stroller out of my car because he could see I was struggling. They explained what they were doing and the breakdown of the price. They completed the work very quickly as well. If you choose to wait they have a roomy and clean waiting area with water and coffee. And when it was time to pick up my vehicle they parked it in the shade. It was very hot and I though it was very thoughtful! Oh and most importantly my brakes feel great. read more

I took my car in for a simple oil change. Within 10 minutes I got a call back saying the service to my vehicle was completed. I was a bit surprised, as my oil changes in the past at other auto centers took at least 20 to 30 minutes to complete, even without any other customers ahead of me. When I came to pick up my car, I noticed the car seemed to be parked in the exact way I left it. It appeared unmoved. A few days later, I was told by neighbor who also had his car repaired (brakes) here that when he took it to another center after repeated issues with the brakes, he was told that it appeared no repairs were were previously done. Upon discovering this he demanded his money back and Midas Sunnyvale refunded him. My neighbor indicated to me he was actually thinking of calling the District Attorney for fraud. My recommendation for anyone taking their car into this Midas center in Sunnyvale is to make sure by checking your vehicle that the work they promised was done or contact the local authorities or district attorney. Auto centers like this should NOT be allowed to operate in this fraudulent manner. read more

Car would not pass a smog test, which is a first, due to a light that came on during test. So on way home from smog test, stopped by Midas to see if they could diagnose and fix. Now, this was around 3:00 pm today. Was told would have to leave car overnight as they close at 4:00pm. Which I perfectly understood. So, at around 3:30 pm (1/2 hour later) I was surprised to get a call that the issue was a gas cap that they were able to fix (along with a set of new tires, which was long overdue), so was happy to pick up car and have issue hopefully fixed. Still have to get re-tested so praying that car will pass smog test. Happy to not have to leave car overnight and figure out how to get to work next day. Update!! Car passed smog test. A simple fix. Excellent Customer Service Start To Finish! I phoned the shop this morning inquiring about an appointment to install 4 new Cooper Brand tires! I had researched the size + pricing & I had a pleasant conversation about price points + installation + road hazard warranty. The shop had a pair of tires in stock and I was told that in a couple hours all four tires would be available.
