Out the door, including tax, the cost for my changing my older car's oil was around $55.00, and the service included a tire rotation. In-n-out time was about 30 minutes, primarily because another vehicle was ahead of mine. The waiting room and restroom were clean. They had a good assortment of magazines. The technician showed/told me that my brake fluid would need to be changed in the future, but not now (I already knew this as I tested it myself last week). Had a bad day and broke a piece of my windshield wipers while trying to replace them. Had a bit of a deadline and I wasn't making any progress so I drove here and parked badly in an already full lot to ask if they could help some random idiot with a broken blade. I said I hadn't purchased the blades there but I'd be willing to buy totally new blades from them just so they could help me fix the problem. They immediately sent someone out to help me fix it (couldn't remember his name but he was awesome) and sent me on my way in 3 minutes and told me I owed them nothing. I hate Midas and here's why. I went to the Walnut Creek Midas after experiencing substandard service at the Concord store. I went through four radiators in less than four years. We used to use the Walnut Creek store exclusively. On November 17 2010 they allegedly replaced the upper and lower ball joints in my 95 Ford Aerostar. On November 17, 2012 the left ball joint snapped while I was doing 65 mph on 680 near Parrish rd, causing extensive damage. I removed and took the broken ball joint to the new franchise owner, who stated that the ball joint was much older than two years. I complained to corporate, whose insurance company told me that Midas was not responsible for any repairs after 60 days. ( Read the contract's "fine print" they have you sign before repairing your vehicle.) I ended up doing all the repairs on my Aerostar and the vehicle is now operational. I would NOT let Midas perform a repair on a child's tricycle. They do not stand behind their work. read more

I had bad experience with Midas last year. They are not honest. I sent my vehicle for tire rotation and oil change. I was told that all work were done (they did rotation, and oil change). and I took my vehicle home, and recognized they did not rotate the tires. I called owner, and went there 2nd day. They explained me that they did not rotate the tires because the front/rear threads are much different. Why didn't they tell me at 1st day? 1 month later, I drove my vehicle on long distance travel. Suddenly the screen/dashboard showed "oil service" warning. My god! I just did oil change 1 month ago. then, I realized that they did not change the oil. They charged money without service at all. I won't go Midas any more. Just don't go. If you had oil change service in Midas, be sure double check. You dont want to get oil change warning in another city when traveling. read more

Today i went to get an oil change on my lunch break. I could see from the front door that the two gentleman at the desk werent wearing masks. They are placed behind a plexiglass which is open on both sides of them. At a distance i attempted to give my information. After 30 seconds on of the employess in front of me starts coughing multiple times into his fisted hand. With no mask, and a fist to your mouth an asymptomatic carriers cough can travel very far. Certainly around the plexiglass which is again only as wide as the desk and open on both sides. I feel we are too far into the pandemic for me to be exposed to unmasked employees of any establishment that are for whatever reason coughing in a very tiny office. read more

STAY AWAY! Huge scam artists at this place. I don't think I will ever step foot in a Midas again! Made an appointment because I, like almost all of Walnut Creek, work during weekdays and don't necessarily have the time to come in during the week. My AC is out and needs to be repaired. I show up on Saturday at 8:05 (my appointment was made for 8:30), and I'm told "it could be a while because we have a lot of cars in today." Kind of a wrong thing to say to a customer who has an appointment and is early. Needless to say, I decide to walk toward BART and hit up my gym while I have them look at my car (no shuttle offered). I get a call back an hour later from the manager/owner/whomever he is, CARLO, letting me know that they looked at my AC and that the condenser is leaking. Total price? $850.00 (!!!!). I am shocked at the price, but also eager to get it done, so I begin to hesitate. Carlo tells me "...we need to order the part soon, because our suppliers shop closes soon..." Mind you, this is at 9:10am on a Saturday - in hindsight, no auto supply store would close before noon - and that if I didn't get it in today, the earliest would be in a few days (with hot days ahead...nice psychological trick!). Feeling put on the spot, I approve the work. Immediately after, I speak to a relative who had her AC repaired the week before and paid $180.00 for a leaking hose and a recharge. I immediately get on Google and search the price for a condenser for my exact make and model, and the part is priced $80.00 to $190.00, depending what supplier you go with. I call two other mechanics - the one my relative used and another I once used myself - and they both quote the part between $80 to $190, plus labor, and both shops come out at less than $450.00. I immediately call back CARLO and tell him to cancel my approval - he states "...well the part is already on it's way..." and I relay my newfound information to him. When I get to the shop to pick up my car, I am out the $85 to diagnose the problem (that should've been the first red flag), and Carlo tells me that a condenser is $400.00, which is why the price tag would have been so high...it's about a 4 hour repair job, so that means MIDAS Walnut Creek must charge $100/hour for labor (the price of labor is not posted within the shop itself, so I can't tell you). The entire time, he was very awkward and the look on his face wasn't one of an honest repair man, but more of a crook caught in the act. I am bringing my car to a shop this week to have my AC repaired, and will ask them their honest professional opinion - if they determine that no parts needed replacement after all, or that Midas is full of sh***, I will bend over backwards to get my $85 diagnostic fee back. I USED to solely do all of my auto care here. I used to get offered a good deal and not jerked around by people trying to nickel and dime people who they assume, don't know jack about cars. Rick used to be the general manager of this garage and all of the garage workers were great at what they did. They would talk me through things I wanted to fix on my own and were great on giving me a deal if I brought in my own parts. Now, this place is owned by Spee-Dee and none of the same people work here. Now, a bunch of children work in the garage and a grumpy smoker lady works the front desk. They will make you feel small and stupid. I was treated like a stupid woman who knew nothing about cars and told if my car was left the way it is, I would die on the freeway because my wheels would fall off and brakes would shatter. I paid for an $80 synthetic oil change and left with the wrong grade and brand of oil (with no offer to fix the mistake). I was lied to when told to return to the shop as my vehicle service was done, then had to watch as the 18 year old child mechanic snuck around the garage to hide from me when he realized he didn't finish the job. Then, told I needed $700 worth of repairs to replace my entire wheel and brake system on the back of my car (even though I just wanted 1 new drum and back brake shoes) due to a tiny bit of rusting. As a child born into a family of mechanics, I know when I'm being taken. I went next door and asked for the exact same service... $336 for parts and labor. They were much nicer too. I miss the old Midas. I miss Rick and his crew. I will NEVER be returning to Midas again. read more

I've been coming here for the last few years and have always been treated kindly. It's true when they say that it can take one bad experience to ruin it all. Today, I walked in for a standard oil change and a Caucasian man...probably the mgr..just wasn't kind at all. I don't expect much from folks but he talked down on me like I was some punk Filipino kid. If only he knew, that I save lives for a living ... Lives that could be his family members. Maybe it's because I rock urban wear and look way younger than I really am. His tone was not welcoming at all and gave me the vibe that I don't belong there. I told him that I forgot my coupon and gave me a look like "too bad kid that's your fault". I knew that coupons were easily accessible online but he offered no help in finding those. Few mins later, an attractive lady walks in and she gets the red carpet. Who knows, that could've been his natural demeanor but that shit don't fly with me. The owner here really knows how to run business! I went online to request an estimate for a wheel alignment. I received a call within the same day. I made an appointment to bring my car in the next day at noon. I arrived and I was immediately greeted by a service rep by my car instead of walking around looking for help. Here comes the bad news, they weren't able to work on my car because the lift they needed was occupied. The owner personally came to me to explain the situation. I would have been annoyed at the situation but his customer service was so great that I wasn't mad at all. He offered to call me the next day since I was planning on driving to LA in a few days. Took my car in for an oil change at the end of the day. On the way home, smoke started coming through the vents and out of the hood. When I was able to pull over I discovered the oil cap was left off. So why the five star review? Because the customer service following the mistake was exceptional. The owner immediately accepted responsibility and apologized. He offered to pay to have it towed from Oakland to Walnut Creek. When I said I'd just buy a new cap, he told me to save the receipt and bring the car in the next morning. When I brought it in, he over-reimbursed me for the cap, cleaned everything up, flushed the vents, and gave me a coupon for a free oil change on my next visit. Would I have preferred a perfect, hassle-free oil change? Sure. But I left there knowing that this Midas will take care of things if they go wrong and that they care about their customers. read more

First of all I paid $18.00 (with coupon) for an oil change, new filter, tire rotation and inspection, and brake inspection which makes me very happy. The guy at the desk was really nice and helpful and answered questions I had about my car. It was done in less than an hour (by the time I walked to Starbucks and back down the road). 5 stars because it was cheap, fast, and conveniently located. Came in for a check engine and VSC lights. Fearing major/costly work (truck has 200,000 miles) the diagnostic test revealed the "problem" was the gas cap. Had it replaced for $20. When they could've added "other issues" to my truck problems, I was surprised at their honesty and attentive work they performed and they also kept me informed during and after it was completed. This Midas location appears to have issues with opening up shop on time. I made an appointment for 7:30am (which is within business hours). It's 8:10 at the moment, and the doors are still closed. The reason why I made an early appointment is so that I can squeeze in a service before going to work. However, the end result is that I've wasted 30 minutes of my morning, with no sign of a technician nearby. I'm truly disappointed and amazed at how little accountability there is, and I hope this is corrected soon. My advice is to not schedule morning services with these guys, it will certainly be a waste of valuable time. read more

This last time I trusted to get the same kind of service, but walked out without paper work and later appear to have been billed for an extra 2.98 above and beyond the reasonable sales promotion for an oil change. Had 3 grand worth of work done to my car. All new brakes and struts to fix some knocking going on. Still had the same problem. Brought it back another 250. Same problem. Brought it back now it's transmission bearing? Another 3 grand?! I wish I would have known before they sold me brakes and struts, still not sure if they messed it up worse.
