I brought my bike to them to install heated hand grips, and what should have been a simple and easy installation turned into an ordeal because of previous unrelated work done by another shop. Bruce and Joe had to call to get new wiring harnesses, rewire the harness through the handlebars, and clean up some sloppy wiring. In the end, they were able to get the job done RIGHT and PROPERLY. They also installed a new adjustable clutch lever and were kind enough to clean my chrome pipes with some steel wool where my pants got burnt on them. I would highly recommend them if you own a Harley.

I neglected my 1994 883 because I bought a Softail Slim a few years ago, has been sitting for a couple of years. After installing new battery, new plugs and draining the gas tank, it would not start. I suspected the carburetor needed to be rebuilt. I called Harley of Sacramento and I was told they don't work on bikes older than 10 years old, they recommended Midcal. Midcal gave me estimate over the phone for a carb rebuild, very good price. They fixed in a matter of days. They showed me the clogged jets. Great customer service. Bike ran like a champ, in love with this bike again. This will be my go-to bike shop, have your bike fixed there.

Great experience! Saved me money from what A&S wanted. The work: install two new tires for my BMW S1000. They were fast, good and thorough. This place has heart and are working on all their certifications. What i really loved was the heartfelt story the owner told me about how he is recruiting and training new mechanics and investing in their education/certifications . This is the kind if place I truly love supporting! Watch out A&S you have competition in west sacramento!

Last week, I called several shops for advice on a new set of tires for my 1996 BMW R850R. No shop had a matching set of tires on hand, but the guy who answered the phone at Midcal checked his inventory twice and spent some time on the computer to see if he could order what I needed. When he came up empty, he suggested buying the tires online and having the shop install them. I had already done some research and asked for his opinion on the Pirelli Angel GTs I was favoring. We talked pros and cons on tires I was buying from someone else! I scheduled an appointment and brought my tires in. During a ride the previous week, a friend mentioned my rear brake pads looked like they needed replacing. So I asked Midcal to check it out and replace if needed. Later that day, my bike is ready and I'm told my brake pads are practically brand new. They could have just said it needed to be done. Great service, integrity, and I even got advice on breaking in my new tires. Super happy with the experience. Thanks Midcal!

I love this place. I own four custom bikes and they are all taken care of by Midcal. Bruce, Lewis, and everyone else are friendly, master technicians, and most importantly honest. I would never take my bikes anywhere else. My experience with motorcycle repair is that if you take your bike to the dealership they will find something wrong with it. If you take it to Midcal they will tell you the truth and fix it. You will pay at least half of what you would at the dealership.

Bought a new to me motorcycle that has been sitting for 2+ years. Brought her in so these guys can take a look. Found out that my breaks are bad because dude used a different oil and the lines and cylinder are filled with gunk. They provided pics and even showed me the old parts. Thankful for these guys for no bullshit. They told me what I needed and how to fix it. Fix it they did. For being a business they told me that if it ain't broke don't fix it. That's really all I need to say. Any future maintenance or mods I will definitely be back. Thanks midcal.

These guys a great! I thought I knew what the issue was with my bike, but I was totally wrong. It turned out it really wasn't worth fixing because of what it would cost. so they ended up just buying the bike off of me, which saved me a huge hassle. I forgot what the guys name is, but he made sure I knew what was going on with the bike, took me back in the shop to look at it while it was all apart and really educated me on the issue.

Took my road glide in to be FIXED for the 2nd and 4th gears were slipping. They charged $270 for diagnostic, $589 for clutch kit, $67 to tighten 2 riser bolts, $67 to put on a $3 bracket, overfilled my oil, put a hole in my exaust, put a used filter on my bike, kept my bike for 4 weeks, and had the gall to charge me $1000. They called saying my bike was ready, stating it was test driven, I started my bike after paying, didn't even make it out the driveway, only had 1 operational gear, my bike was smoking and knocking as if they intentionally ran it hot. They intentionally over filled my bike with oil, in which overfilling it makes it smoke. They put a hole in my exaust, for whatever reasons, not to mention my saddle bags were loose. Paint was chipped up, cracked and used air filter and cover, but were charged $272 for new filter and cover. First off any shop that does any diagnosis would know what to exactly what to fix. Second these people really don't want to see US on Harley Davidson bikes. Third they're all liers. Yes I did get a full refund that same day, but my bike absolutely came in this shop better than it left. Had to get my bike towed from that place... My advice, if you're an African American be prepared to be overcharged, crappy work, and lied to. DO NOT GO TO MID CAL MOTORCYCLE. You'll be sorry!

He was very concerned because Harley dealerships don't maintain parts and resist working on a bike this old.

As fate would have it, I took the car to the dealership for a recall and they discovered that one of the tires had a small bubble. I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate almost two years with the car by treating her to some new tires. I reached out to Chris who quoted me $1,200 (including manufacture warranty) for four thick profiled performance tires, which was $1,300 cheaper than the quote that I received from the dealer. Chris quickly placed the order for the tires and called me the next day to inform me that they had arrived. Since the establishment is generally very busy on the weekends, I decided to visit on a weekday in hopes for a quicker experience. Thankfully, there was only one car ahead of me when I arrived. Chris instructed me to pull the car into the shop and immediately began removing the tires (I'm always impressed by a hands-on owner). Less than 30 minutes later, the job was done and I was in the office checking out. As Chris implied, I can confirm that the ride quality of my car has significantly improved. I have been a customer for seven years and have referred many friends and family to the shop. If you're looking for competitive prices and exceptional customer service, I highly recommend visiting South West Tire Shop!

I should mention that these particular wheels require an inner tube, unlike some of the newer styles with different spoke placement. Balancing also requires a finger-style adapter for the balancing machine, something that I had only seen one example of in my many previous interviews with other tire shops. My initial contact was with Tony who must be the manager. When I first listed all the requirements presented to me by the wheel manufacturer and showed him an old (damaged) wheel, Tony didn't think they had the correct adapter, at least the way I was describing it. After discussing it for a couple more minutes with him agreeing that he could do the job if only he had the proper finger-style adapter, he said good-bye and I prepared to drive away. But before I could drive off, Tony was tapping on my side window with the proper adapter in his other hand. He had one of his technicians with him and we all agreed that it appeared that Radial Tire could do the proper job. I told him that I would return the next day with all the tires and wheels. When I returned the next day, Tony was joined by Kirby, the owner of that location plus two or three technicians. Kirby's main concern was that the finger-style balancing adapter fit properly. As it turned out, we hadn't really looked very closely at the fit of the adapter the previous day, and, sure enough, the fingers were just a tiny bit too short to seat properly. Needless to say I was very disappointed. But once again and without saying much, Tony retreated to the office and found a set of longer fingers for the adapter that did the trick. If it hadn't been for Tony, I'm not sure if the problem would have been resolved. So we proceeded to unload everything and I handed Tony my list of what they were to do as specified by the wheel manufacturer. By the time we completed the paperwork, it looked like half the shop personnel was hovering around the tire mounting machine with the main technician reciting the list of do's and don't's that we had discussed. This struck me as about as close to TLC for these tires and wheels as I could hope for at any tire shop. I must have interviewed a dozen shops based on recommendations from a few of my classic car hobby friends before I stopped by Radial Tire Center. This is a professional and competent organization that I will be happy to patronize again in the future.
