I went to GR for about a year and got my tires changed and some other things done as well. Gold River Motorsports has been servicing my dirtbikes and doing tires for my BMW R1200GS for over 15 years. The brothers running the various business at the complex have always been helpful, courteous, and do a stellar job. They even take my scrap metal and used batteries from home DIY for recycling. This year (October 2024) I had the misfortune of getting a faulty new valve on new tubeless tires that failed. I was lucky the freak failure happened to my front tire while the bike was parked, and not while I was riding on twisty Marshall Rd. or Hwy 193. I had to leave the bike parked at Geortetown park, where I had stopped for picnic lunch, and ride home pillion on a horribly uncomfortable seat, since everything was closed. Luckily, no one was hurt, but it really deflated an otherwise fun day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The next day, I went to the GR Moto shop when it opened, and explained to Steve what happened, and that my bike was abandoned 30 miles away, with no easy way for me to retrieve it. Steve sent one of his crew with a flatbed truck to bring the bike back to the shop, and replaced the valve at no charge.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Thank you Steve!!! p.s. Wow! There guys went above and beyond. Brought in 43 year old antique Suzuki GS 450S, which had dumped its oil through a bad seal clutch rod. I authorized that repair, and a battery with charging lead as well. They not only took care of these things, they figured out why the seal went bad and blew. They could have just replaced the seal, but they found the fuel petcock and diaphragm had missing parts which cause raw fuel to work its way into the case. Also a crispy crunchy fuel line. While they had the case off, they also replace a seal on the shifter as well. It's like I have a whole new bike. No more missed shifts, the clutch now plays out evenly instead of the last inch of travel all at once, and I'm not riding a gasoline bomb anymore. I can't thank you guys enough. I'll be back over the next couple of years to complete my goal of a complete restoration. You guys earned my business. read more

These people lie through their teeth. While installing a light bar on my GoldWing, they scratched my paint in multiple places, did not properly replace my tailpipe cover and left a couple of cables hanging out. They overcharged their labor by multiple hours (verified by part manufacturer) and when I brought this up to them with manufacturer documentation, their response was to deny the proof and call the manufacturer a liar. If you have any work that requires honesty or basic intelligence, stay away from these people. Their work ethic does not exist. read more

Visited the service department and paid 160 to get two tires mounted I bought elsewhere only for them to screw up the valve stem and leave me with a flat tire on one of them the following day. They had me drive back and forth to pickup tools from their shop in my car so I could get the wheel off myself and bring it in since the bike was immobilized. After all that, they were unwilling to comp me for gas or labor even though they usually only charge 40 if you bring the wheel in already off the bike since you cut their labor by doing it yourself (I paid 80 to have them do it). I had originally brought the bike in because I had never taken the wheels off before but because of their mistake I had to pay full price AND do the labor myself AND spend money on gas going back and forth. Plenty of tire shops service bikes, go to one that stands behind their service quality and operates fairly. read more

I took my XR 600 to them because it wouldn't start. They charged me $200 and said they couldn't fix it. They said the motor had no compression or spark. They told me I should take it to the dump or use it for parts because it wasn't worth fixing. I almost did what they said but decided to take it to Moto Exotica in Vacaville to make sure. They put a $40 part on it and had it running great. I called them and asked for my money back and they refused. If you need your bike fixed, I highly recommend Moto Exotica. read more

So its been a few months now since i have been meaning to write a quick review. Since then i have been back a total of 3 times. I finally made myself a yelp and here I am. I mostly have been dealing with Dimitriy (Dima) and hes pretty great. Super easy going, honest and full of answers for you. Hopefully I dont get in trouble for saying this but my 1st visit there I needed my 1st chain adjustment after installing a new chain (Fn installed it). What really sold me was he did it for a really reasonable price and didnt say there was some ridiculous minimum charge (i got this statement from Omega). So of course when i needed a just in case 2nd chain tension (hard riding) and needed a headlight bulb installed too, i went here, to gold river.Without me asking he brought me to the back to show me how to do it myself (i knew how but i really wanted to hear how he did it if he did it differently) This kind of business id rather always come back to the great service. Pricing is nothing to complain about what so ever. Trust me i shop around because im a cheap basta**. 3rd visit i bought a set of take offs and he ended up coming in on the weekend while he was supposed to be off and messaged me to meet with him. I had mentioned i was going on a canyon run so it was pretty thoughtful for him to let me know. All in all, so far so great. I see a couple people complaining about wait times, well you have to understand no shop in Sacramento is going to just let you cut in line usually. Call around and ask, people are busy. Motorcycles should only be worked on by proffessionals and should never be rushed. Just be patient with these guys and i promise they will take good care of you. Side note: these guys race! My 2012 DRZ400SM wasn't starting a few months ago. It felt like a carburetor problem, so I took it to the Suzuki dealership, and they tried to tell me that I had worn rings and needed a rebuild. Low mileage bike that went from riding great to a no-start condition and this is what the "factory expert" tries to sell me. I heard about Gold River from and friend and trucked the Suzuki down there. After a little investigation they were able to find that an air line had fallen off of the carb and was creating a super lean condition. An hour's labor was all I payed and I was back on the road. Since i first purchased a bike years ago in San Francisco I would come back down to Sac for the weekend just so I can get my maintenance done by these guys, fast forward years later I'm on my like...6th or 7th bike which has now become of the Harley brand and style, I still only trust and rely on these guys to get my bikes and my girls bike right. I will trust nobody else as long as these guys are around. Not only is it always an A+ quality job but you can tell they love what they do and invest their blood sweat and tears into every bike they touch which then later shows through the performance and longevity of my bikes. Steve is the man and all of the guys at the shop deserve a tip when you go through them nobody does a job like they do. There is a tiny frame and motor 2 wheels and a seat between you and the concrete, don't just trust whoever or whatever job and parts. Take it to these guys if you want assurance. read more

I had my 2007 R6 serviced today as walk-in for brake flush and fluid replacement. Stephan gave me a quote which is very fair for the work I need. They did a good job protecting my bike while in service. i saw covers and rags put on for protection since brake fluid is involved. When they're done. They've noticed that my battery is dying. I know it is because it was 5-6 years old. They gave me good advice in general which is nice, including my old original tires which is now 14 years old ( my bike only has 1,200 miles). It was great, legit advice and I feel like they're genuine with it. They're not pushy on anything that is not needed I can tell because I've been to other shops before and they upsell stuff. My overall experience was good. I got out of there in less than an hour. I definitely recommend this place for any motorcycle service or advice. I called and made an appointment for my quad that has been sitting for about a year. I let them know that it had gas in it and there were probably a few other small issues with it. They were very accommodating, I brought my bike down and they said they would take a look over everything. They noticed right away my handle bars were bent and said they would be happy to replace them. When I came to pick it up, I talked to the mechanic who worked on it and he went over all the work he had done. I could not be happier with their work and their customer service. Anyways, I took my gsxr 600 there because it was having some start up issues. Being that i'm fairly new to the bike scene, I couldn't pin point what was causing my bike to run like it did. Every time the bike got above a certain temp. and was shut off, it wouldn't turn back on. I decided to take my friends word, So I came here. Not only did they hook me up, but they made me feel welcome and like i was a regular returning customer. I got my bike back running better than ever. I brought my 1997 Virago 1100 in for a tune up and to have the fork seals replaced. The fork seals were perfect and now the bike starts without using the choke at all and idles smoothly. Of course it also runs very smoothly and I hope the mileage will also improve as it had been declining a bit over the last couple of years without a tune-up. They were also kind enough to hang out for a little bit after closing so that I could drop the bike off after work. Everyone was kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I love that it is family owned and the work is clearly great. I'm never excited to have work done on my bike but happy to know that when it needs doing, there is an honest, reliable place to have it done. read more
