It was my Ist time visiting wahoo's, I felt so welcome, my husband raves about the place, after being closed for almost 2 years after the hurricanes, Madison was such a welcoming person when we sat at the bar, friendly conversations and offering us appetizers , we relaxed for a couple hours, chatting and partaking in some drinks, after shift change we moved to the dining area, Madison followed us and set us at a table decorated with happy Birthday to my husband , lots of cheers and high 5's from the staff, what at special surprise, My husband "Miguel was so excited he had a tear in his beer, dinner was fantastic fresh grouper was to die for, thank you so much to Kenny and the entire staff for a great afternoon and especially Madison at wahoo's, and yes we are coming back! read more

Our "new" go-to place for great seafood (especially the grouper sandwich!) lively music and conversation! Ask for server Shelby on weekends - delightful, friendly and knowledgable. So pleased Wahoo's finally reopened after incredible Hurricane damage almost 2 years ago. We were excited to try Wahoo's after a good friend brought us there and told us they'd always had great experiences. Unfortunately, our visit was one we won't forget--but not for the right reasons. The service was very disappointing. We waited over 20 minutes just for drinks, and it took hours to receive our food. Our waitress explained that the kitchen was running behind, which we understand, but it didn't really explain the lack of service overall. When the food finally arrived, it was incredible and definitely the highlight of the visit. Highly recommend the coconut shrimp if you go!! However, some of our order was missing, which added to the frustration after such a long wait. We understand that the recent hurricane has likely caused challenges and that adjustments are still being made, so we tried to keep that in mind. Still, it was disappointing, especially after hearing how much our friends loved this place. Because of the service, we're not sure if we'd return. read more

Jacklyn was an amazing server, very knowledgeable and on the spot. We visited from Charleston so very picky about seafood. The food was amazing! everything was fresh and delicious. The manager even stopped by the table which you don't see anymore. We will be back! read more

Bar ambiance wasn't welcoming. We only stayed at the indoor bar for a short time, but it wasn't a place that invited you to stay.

What a great place. Right in front of the beach. Not a lot of parking so be prepared to drive up and down the street a little bit. But once you get inside and try the food you find it was worth it. Everything is absolutely fantastic. The service is always great and prices are very reasonable. One of the few places that has hot dogs and hamburgers for kids. I highly recommend this place. If you haven't been here in awhile you will be surprised how big the place has gotten. read more

Wahoo's is finally back in action after the 2024 Hurricane season and it's just as great as we remembered. The walls are bare and waiting for personality (but the bathrooms are a massive improvement), the service is a bit slow, but the food is perfect and worth it. Place not what it used to be. Service is terrible had to walk out after 15 min on the patio no service. Other than that they dont have a special board, fresh fish from next door , alchohol prices are astronomical, sun brewed tea, used to be cool to watch them cook you food while at the bar , the hot sauce wall is gone where locals could bring their own and leave it for others to try, Jimmy used to prep the fish right in the dining area so you could see. Everything that would kinda rotate on the specials menu is just printed on the menu which dosent make it very special. Also just grouper and wahoo available for fresh fish. It was a locals only place. It was my favorite. Now I'm never going back . Only depresses myself being in the joint. Place should of just stayed closed! read more

Being a long time customer was very disappointing. Long wait 1.5 hours very loud (they might consider sound bars in the planks) Food was considerably small but understandable with the new place it did still carry the great bronze flavor. So glad we decided to visit this spot. Very friendly and attentive staff, and excellent food. Generous portion sizes! We ate there at lunch, and it is now 6pm and we are still full! We are only in town one more day, but may try to fit in one more visit. Highly recommend this spot! We ordered a half pound of royal reds (still thinking about these), the scallop platter (huge and cooked to perfection), and a garden salad with lightly blackened grouper (also cooked to perfection). We learned of this place from another visitor. We were told from non-seafood eaters that they had THE BEST Mahi Mahi. As a lover of seafood, I felt obligated to try. We ventured there on our last meal. It's definitely a dive and there weren't many people in there (more workers than patrons). Don't let that fool you. Our server was very helpful with allergy items. She also let me sample the cole slaw before ordering to be sure I got the right side. I got the mahi mahi blackened and my daughter had the burger. If it wasn't a drury day, the view would have been an added bonus. My sandwich was HANDS down the best meal of the trip. Dive bar serving up first class cuisine. Get here early or late, limited seating, but well worth the wait. We ended up sitting at the bar, and they cook everything on the grill or in cast iron skillets right in front of you behind the bar. They turn it out too. We started with lightly blackened skrimps, they were fresh and delicious. My wife had blackened catch of the day (grouper) tacos and said they were incredible. I went with the surf & turf - ribeye, blackened grouper fingers, roasted corn on the cob and tots. Ribeye was smokey and perfectly prepared, great flavor. Grouper fingers were seared to perfection, corn was ok, tots were tots. Great service, took a while to get severed due to small kitchen, but well worth the wait. read more

This has been my go to place for over 10 years+. The service is top notch and the food is lights out. Sit at the bar and watch John do his magic with the cast iron pans. Try the deep fried ribs and the deep water reds. Both are excellent, as is everything on the menu. I will be down there on tax day, April 15 for a 2 short 9 days. Wahoo's Waterside Pub is a great purveyor of some of the best seafood around the Redington Shores area located right on Gulf Blvd and sits beside a large bay just off of the the Intracoastal Waterway immediately south & west coming out of the Narrows. They do have docking facilities to come by Sea as well as Land, but only for 2 boats at a time. The waterfront outside area at the backside of the restaurant is our favorite spot enjoying the nautical ambiance as we drink & dine. As they are located a stones throw from commercial fishing boats and a fresh Seafood Market next door, you can all but guarantee a freshly cooked entree from local waters! I rented a place in Redington Beach for a wedding. Wahoos was a few blocks away from where I stayed. My niece, her husband and I walked to dinner on our first night in town. It looked kind of divy, but we all know that's a good sign. We ordered a few items and shared. We had a pound of the royal red Argentinian shrimp, bison burger and seafood chowder. Our waiter advised the shrimp tasted like lobster, and he did not lie. They served it with melted butter. By far, the best shrimp I have ever tasted! And they were big too. Sweet like lobster! The seafood chowder had a New Orleans style cajun flavor and I loved it! It had a kick with lots of seafood. Best combo! The bison burger was also good. A little overcooked from my taste, but my niece ordered it medium well. I usually like my burger medium. So I'm not holding the restaurant accountable because my niece and I have different tastes lol. I really enjoyed the Wahoo wheat beer out of San Diego. I hope to have the pleasure of visiting Redington Beach again so I can try some other items on the menu! read more

Bookended our recent trip to Madeira Beach with dinner @ Wahoos Bayside Pub & Grill. Can't go wrong with the following dinner for two: Grouper bites, 1 lb of Royal Reds, fries/tots, and Key lime pie for desert. Cooks do an amazing job serving excellent food quickly always adding a nice flair to the menu with a variety of specials (I tried the gazpacho--it was good, but warning to those who have never had gazpacho--it's served cold; my ignorance--very good new food experience for me). Nice selection of your favorite adult beverages. As always, the wait staff is phenomenal--Kim and Michelle, plus their supporting crew! My wife and I decided bookending simply isn't enough--we need to "hat trick" this place on our next trip. Laid back atmosphere is exactly what the doctor ordered for a week on the beach! read more

Don't judge a book by its cover. This place doesn't look like much on the outside but the food and the folks that run it are great. We stopped in on a busy Saturday night and found a seat at the bar. Actually right in front of the kitchen area. It was fun watching our meal being made. My wife and I had the same thing, fish tacos that were blackened Cajun style. We just ate here, as they promote the "freshness" of their seafood - being next door to a Fresh seafood market. Unfortunately, it took us over an hour and 45 minutes to be seated served and actually eat. Not once during the entire ordeal did anyone come to our table and explain what was taking so long. Two simple appetizers took nearly an hour to get. No one ever refreshed our drinks. and when the food did finally come out, The sides were not delivered until after the main entree had been eaten. Such a great find in a small strip along the main road. Parking is a little tough - we had to find some street parking - but it wasn't a stressor even on a Saturday afternoon. I got the grouper sandwich blackened style, and it was awesome. I topped it with the house-made tartar sauce which gave it the perfect flavor combination. My daughter picked this place out after a round of miniature golf at Smuggler's Cove. We were not sure what to expect since it had mixed reviews. The outdoor seating area is very small so we did not get to sit outside. The inside is very casual and laid back. You seat yourself. It is NOT fancy at all, but we knew that going in. But the food is delicious and plentiful. The wait staff was also on top of it and super nice. Plus they were pretty fast. We ordered tater tots as an appetizer. We were not sure if there would be enough for all 5 of us, but it was a big bowl and there were plenty. They were nice and crispy, not over done and came out hot! I ordered the seafood chowder. It was really, really good. Had just a little bit of kick. I ordered a cup but it was a much bigger bowl than I expected. I also ordered the fried grouper, potato salad and it came with coleslaw. The grouper wasn't the typical deep fried grouper with lots of breading. It had very thin breading, was nice and moist and fell apart. I enjoyed not having the heavy breading. The potato salad was very good. I ordered it based on reviews on Yelp. I wasn't a fan of the coleslaw, but I am picky about my coleslaw so that didn't bother me. I honestly don't remember what everyone else ordered, but they ate it, so it must have been good. All of our servings were good size and no one went away hungry. read more

First time visiting Wahoo's but not to the area. It's "low season" and there was no wait. I would imagine during peak there would be a wait because the food was so good and the wait staff was friendly and welcoming. They have an extensive menu with meals for everyone in your party. We both had the grilled grouper dinner with rice and beans. My partner had the dinner salad which was very fresh and not bagged salad, I had the cole slaw which was vinegar based not mayonnaise. The fish tasted fresh and was delicious and the sides were also quite good. Nice homey, local atmosphere and lastly.. the sangria was perfect. This little place has two things going for it--first, they prepare blackened fish in a cast iron skillet. It's truly blackened; they don't just throw it on the grill and throw some seasonings on it. It's hard to find a place that does it right, and their blackened grouper is fantastic. If you like the real thing like Paul Prudhomme invented, this is the place. The second wonderful thing about this place is they have Royal Reds. Royal Reds, if you aren't familiar, are a special deep-water shrimp that taste a bit like a cross between a lobster and a shrimp. They're sweet and firm and wonderful. If you've never tried a Royal Red--do yourself a favor and get some peel-and-eat ones for the table. Actually there are three things about Wahoo's: they've got Tater Tots! You can't really tell from the front of the restaurant, but if you walk through to the back, there's outdoor seating next to the bay; it's very pleasant out there. Friendly service. read more

The parking is limited or at least we didn't see any lot so maybe we missed it so plan that. We had boiled shrimp as appetizers and scallops. We were so excited to try this place! It came highly recommended by a local. So we came our first night in town. We waited one hour and 25 minutes for our food. Our waitress was fantastic, communicative, and apologetic throughout. Once it came out, the food was good! But nothing to phone home about. I've reviewed prior, not good, but decided to give another chance. We were immediately seated and provided our drink and app order. As app was done, server took our dinner order. Nearly an hour passed when our meal arrived. One wing and fries (no fries prepared; arrived 15ish minutes later and you could see the potatoes were still raw), scallops and side salad (which we watched sit in the expo window for 30 minutes), and a burger and fries (again no fries). I complained about salad and server tried to tell me I was wrong. I wasn't as I believe my own eyes. I even shared with her that I'd been watching their KDS the entire time and it stayed in the red (means the kitchen was taking too long preparing food). Server and service were wonderful. We sat on the patio overlooking the water with fun music piped in at just the right volume. The red shrimp weren't as great as we had hoped, but we like spicy food so they just were a bit bland for us. The blackened sea scallops were exceptional.
