The grits are soooo good! Next time I go I am going to order the biggest bowl they have. The waffle was a waffle and the chicken wings were light coated chicken wing batter. It is a bit pricey but thank the location for that. There isn't alot of room in the restaurant. You have to watch your step because the floors were slippery probably from frying food. The waitress was super nice and all in all it was a good experience. The parking is small but I think there is a parking deck across the street. They had a really nice outdoor seating area. On our first trip to Charlotte we almost opted for hotel breakfast, and were SO happy we didn't! Midnight Diner absolutely hit the spot for our Saturday morning breakfast. It was busy but we were seated right away - you could tell that the food was going to be amazing by how many people were in there when the rest of downtown seemed super dead. We got omelettes and split a couple of slices of French toast. The omelettes were perfect, and the hashbrowns were the best buttery crispy delicious diner hashbrowns! We were nearby so we ordered the family style fried chicken with 2 sides, coleslaw and onion rings. The chicken was fried to order and we were told it would be about 15 minutes to prepare. Worth the wait, all the chicken parts were juicy, moist and tender. The huge onion rings so good and the creamy fresh coleslaw so good as well; plus large fluffy buscuits. It was pretty tame when we went in, everyone totally friendly. This place is adorable on the inside. Looks like an old silver diner with red booths on the inside, everything feels clean and comfy. Desserts are all homemade and fantastic! I got the winner: Coconut Cake. It was enormous, too! We 3 could have easily shared it! My friends got banana pudding and the brownie with ice cream. Some of the best french toast I've had in Charlotte. We had a party of 14 and the food still came out relatively quick - 10 to 15mins after ordering. It was warm, and proportionally very large. My husband and I had dinner here before a concert. This was our first time back here since they moved to new location. It seems they have free parking available. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. This was a Tuesday so not very crowded but still loud with jukebox playing. I had fried chicken, broccoli, biscuit, Mac and cheese. My husband had fire crackers chicken sandwich and onion rings. My chicken and broccoli was cooked perfectly. The Mac and cheese was okay. My husband's sandwich needed extra seasoning and the onion rings were okay. I also got death by chocolate cake for dessert to go. It was delicious and large slice. In Charlotte for a basketball tournament, we ate lunch at the counter on the first day and came back for dinner twice more. Great food, reasonable prices, and fabulous service - shoutout to John but the whole team is awesome. Recommended: shrimp and grits, biscuits, fried chicken, collard greens, onion rings. It was early on a weekday so I knew it wouldn't be packed as it normally is. I walked right in and got a seat. I ordered french toast, eggs, turkey bacon and of course CREAMY GRITS! My fav thing on the entire menu. Sadly, the grits weren't up to their usual quality. Which was a bummer but they weren't bad, just not as great as I recall. Maybe it was an off day, but that didn't ruin my experience at all. My server was amazing, we had a whole conversation lol. I enjoyed that very much since I was dining alone. I looooooooooove this place!!! I'd first heard and visited in 2013 for a friend's celebration. Since then it became a staple of mine. I've visited countless times and recommend it every time I have guest in town. Depending on what I have a taste for I get shrimp and grits or chicken and waffles (coconut crunch).
