Awesome place for a nostalgia fix. I went on a Monday early afternoon and wasn't crowded, I probably best the lunch crowd. I got the burger all the way which came with slaw, chili and onions. I'll admit it wasn't very flavorful, lacked enough seasonings in my opinion. The tater tots were good however. I got a chocolate coke for my drink and soooooo good. U can get refills on the coke but they will only do the chocolate once in the first pour. I assume if you're willing to pay for a second drink they would do it. In any case it was so delicious.

Park Road Soda Shoppe is a Charlotte staple that has been around since the 90s. It's a 1950s style diner that is heavy on nostalgia. The space is small and demand is high so be prepared to wait a little bit, but they get food out fast and the service is great and friendly. Most recently I stopped in and after a 15 minute wait, our hostess advised us that there were two seats open at the bar. Their menu consists of your staples, burgers, and hot dogs for lunch, eggs and pancakes for breakfast, and of course no 50s diner would be complete without some delicious ice cream sundaes and floats. If you are a fan of diners I highly recommend stopping in as this is one of my favorites in the city. Their burgers in particular are very delicious coming with slaw onions mustard and chili. I prefer mine without the slaw personally, but either way it tastes great!

Perfect little local diner vibes. We tried the following: - cheeseburger: tastes homemade in the best way - hot dog 'all the way': I forget the term they use for all the way but it has, I believe, chili / onion/ slaw. I don't even like hot dogs and this was tasty - fries: yum - fried pickles: so good! the ranch with it is also delish They also had Vanilla Coke which I know is a unique thing that isn't for everyone but it's my favorite - and great nugget ice! We will be here quite often I imagine.

Such a great and cost efficient place to grab a bite. Couple of hot dogs all the way or a burger with some onion rings is the way to go.

Excellent Carolina style burgers and hot dogs. Possibly the best ones in town. Fries and o-rings are good too. Nice staff.

It's one…read moreof those comfort foods I don't eat often because it's so rich--but when I see it on a menu, it absolutely catches my attention. That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

The bread was hot and soft. The cheese was delicious as well. Will definitely order this again. For the mains, we went with the Chicken and Dumplings and the Southern Fried Steak. The Chicken and Dumplings were amazing as well. I always worry about the balance of chicken vs dumplings but this was very well balanced and delicious. The dumplings were cooked well and the chicken was very flavorful. The Southern Fried Steak was fantastic and well. No complaints about this dish either. Every component was well made and delicious. The only complaint I had was the service really went down hill after we got our meal. Our server didn't check on us until she delivered the bill which was disappointing because initially the service started out so well. The Southern Pecan is a good spot. Stop in and grab a bite.

I left my name and number in case they found it but I wasn't hopeful and was leaving town the next day. Eric found it and gave me a call a couple hours later. He even offered to run it out to me if I called and let them know I was near so we wouldn't have to deal with parking. I've never had a server go above and beyond like this. I would highly recommend this place on service alone but the food was great too! Thank you again Eric! You are the best!

DO NOT GO! AVOID - Worst Dining Experience I've Ever Had…read more Do you want a bad time? Come here! If you are looking to ruin your night, this is the place to do it. I cannot recommend strongly enough that you take your business elsewhere. We ended up leaving after 90 minutes of pure frustration. We had no food, were being dripped on by a leak in the ceiling, received terrible service, and were served the wrong drinks. Here is the breakdown of why this place is a disaster: Poor Beginning: It took 10 minutes to be seated, which was understandable given the concert nearby. However, once seated, we sat for another 20 minutes before even getting water. I watched our waiter visit every surrounding table while what felt like he was pointedly ignoring ours. Seating: as our waiter brought our water and took our drink order, something started dripping on me. The waiter caught it and we also shortly after called it out as it continued requesting a new seat. They said we'll look to move you. Fast forward 30 minutes, the waiter said he's waiting for a table in his section to open up to MOVE ME FROM THE DRIPPING WATER. He prioritized his payout over our comfort, and we were never moved. Drinks: It took 30 minutes to get our drinks, even though I could see them sitting at the bar for at least 15 minutes while our waiter chatted with other tables. To top it off, my boyfriend was served the wrong beer, but the service was so slow we didn't even bother asking for a correction. Food: We ordered a starter early on as we were starving, but it never arrived. To make matters worse, a table of ten seated next to us ordered their mains, ate, and paid their tab before our starter ever showed up. We eventually decided to just leave rather than wait for the appetizer we never received. The only "positive" was that the manager eventually comped our two drinks, but even that took 10 minutes to process while we were trying to pay our tab and escape. Save your time and go literally anywhere else.

We were looking for lighter fare and the menu had so many options to choose from. The lavender honey butter with the warm bread surprised me the most - the bread was fluffy and cloud like and divine with the butter. We nearly ordered another one, but it was just so decadent. The mezze platter had lots of great bites for our varied palates, loved the whipped ricotta and all the olives and fried naan. Harrisa roasted carrots were our idea of something healthy, and they may have been nutritious but tasted just as good as any main dish. Our server kindly warned us to be careful of the fresno chiles on the pork belly dish, and we appreciated that. They were quite spicy but very good with the slaw and pork belly - excellent bite of savory, crunchy, spicy and just a wee bit sweet was possible on that one. We happened to benefit from some wine specials and opted for a couple of bottles of wine at a serious discount that were excellent. Our server made great recommendations and made sure our glasses never ran dry. The manager also checked in on our group but was never intrusive. We enjoyed the booth seating near the window and the vibe was definitely upbeat but casual. It hit the spot!
