This place was fantastic. You get a large amount of quality food for an affordable price. We ordered one of the signature boats. Beautiful display and very fresh. Their speciality rolls are very good and well thought out. They have a large selection of regular rolls that are on par with your average sushi places. They don't have a kids menu but you can order smaller plates to accommodate. There is plenty of parking. My food and beverage arrived quickly and was delicious. I ordered gyoza (fried), the spicy tuna roll, and the rainbow roll. Rainbow roll is my go to anywhere so I was surprised to see that they put cream cheese in theirs. I ordered off the happy hour sheet with no description to be fair. Had I seen the description I may have requested it without or picked something different. The cream cheese was a bit overpowering in both taste and texture. I did arrive at 1pm and they close at 2pm until dinner. I felt bad arriving at that time, but then I noticed many more patrons came after me. An entire family even arrived 10 til 2. The staff was gracious and welcoming to all. Never appeared annoyed or even mentioned the closing time. I thought that was awesome service and won back the one star I wanted to leave off. Overall, very good experience. I don't live on this side of town -the exact opposite actually- so I'm not sure I'd go back. More likely to try a new place next time in east. read more

Solid 4-stars for the sashimi but 3-stars for the nigiri and rolls. First of all, the sashimi was crazy good. We're talking thick cuts of good quality fish that is still glistening from the freshness. The salmon with all the beautiful marbling alone was spectacular. David K K. told me about asking for sashimi and I was so enraptured with the salmon that I forgot to ask for the gochujung and lettuce wraps. Amazing. As for the nigiri, the yellowtail wasn't bad but get that red snapper away from me. That snapper snapped back. I couldn't even bite through it! This place does utilize the method of putting a huge hunk of rice to fill you up. It worked. I was so full off of one round. I will say the rice seemed to be seasoned fairly lightly. All in all, it's a pretty solid place that gets the job done. $25.99 for AYCE. Go in and enjoy the sashimi plate, just don't expect too much with the other cuts of fish. They also didn't have uni or toro which is weird for a sushi place... Sushi boat: overall quite underwhelming. The food is always amazing! That being said, I was just there with some friends. We split the bill 50/50. The bill was $127. 127/2=63.50 each. My friend gave the server a Visa card and I gave the server a $100 bill. My change should have been $36.50 but I only received $31 back. Soooo....they kept an automatic $5.50??? Mido Sishi was a delightful experience, good food, efficient service with reasonable pricing. I made a visit there with my son to check out the raves we had been hearing about it. We both got the all-you-can-eat option menu, which included a wide array of choices (though not the more exotic ones). This option was 25 each and well worth it. We ordered a round of tempura for appetizers, which was fine though not necessary. We then had a round of 3 sushi choices typical of a sampling you might expect: one tempura sushi roll, one rainbow roll, and one california roll. They were good and very fresh. Second round we had a couple selections that were both excellent (typical tuna, and salmon). I also had a green tea to drink. The staff was very helpful and fast to respond. No need to feel intimidated here, they explain the style and process of both ordering and preparing the food. Food orders came out fast. The room is nice and open, and well lit. I like that. The chef was attentive and we thanked him and his staff when we left. Overall the experience was excellent. The pricing for the two of us landed at about $62 for the evening with meal, tax and tip (no alcohol). Overall though I thought the pricing was acceptable, being in the higher range made me withhold a single star, giving them the final 4 star rating. read more

OK my fellow Yelpers, here's the lowdown. If you really want to have AYCE sushi and you don't have any other options unless you drive far, then this place will be fine but don't get excited. This is no joke, they have a machine that makes the nigiri rice and the pieces are too big and condensed (machine compressed), mind you the fish you get is of good portion but the rice is huge. Serious, you'll see two machines that tower over the sushi bar. If you're a sushi snob I would not recommend this place to you but if you just want to feed your gut with average fish and lots of rice than this is the place for you. After finding that our favorite izakaya was closed on Sundays, we looked around on Yelp for something else open and found Mido. From the moment we walked in the door, we felt like we were back in Japan, eating at a little restaurant attached to someone's home. There's no music, the ambiance is cozy and dated and cluttered, and it's just so perfect and utterly unpretentious. The food was incredible, especially the salmon toro. Even though there is not currently seating at the sushi bar, the sushi chefs kept a watchful eye over all the diners, giving knowing nods and thumbs-ups when they noticed us enjoying a particularly wonderful bite of sashimi. The tempura deserves a special mention for being such a wide variety of vegetables. All in all, we had a wonderful time, our bellies are full, and we can't wait to go back! read more

This was the greatest surprise in a long time. Party of 12 so I was not expecting great food or fast service. First the food was just amazing from everyone I spoke with. I mainly noticed because of the employee shortages everywhere but the staff when ask for anything it was delivered immediately, want a fork, here you are sir. Another salad in 30 seconds it was in front of you. My wife paid the bill. She said for what we got $ 40 dollars was a steal and tipped 20 dollars which they deserved. This is my favorite casual neighborhood sushi spot and it's no competition. The staff is extremely prompt and the quality and value are both excellent. This restaurant is located fairly close to home so it's a convenient place to stop when I'm in the mood for sushi. I've been a fan of Pancho since he was head chef at Sushi Hama in Tucson. Pros: I arrived in the early evening on a Saturday as was immediately able to find a seat at the bar. My initial orders were ready within about the next 10 minutes. The most obvious difference about this restaurant compared to most other sushi restaurants we visit is the noticeably larger portion sizes of the fish and other ingredients relative to the rice (see photographic evidence below). I suppose some sushi aficionados will argue about the pieces of fish needing to be the proper size, thickness, etc. when preparing nigiri. However, for me it's the sight of a nice, large slice of well marbled salmon on a ball of rice that really whets my appetite. The maki rolls are also very generous in size as well as quantity and variety of ingredients. All of the fish tasted as fresh as one could expect at a sushi restaurant in Arizona. Cons: Although the consistency of the rice was very good, I would have preferred more sugar and vinegar seasoning. The price for all-you-can eat is a bit higher than most other sushi restaurants we visit regularly.
