Arrived at 7:20 PM on 12/31 for our 7:30 reservations. Seated at 7:35 but no one arrived to take a drink order until 7:55. We understood it was going to be busy, but.... Was told we would have our drinks in 2 minutes (that seemed to be his favorite thing- 2 minutes). Finally received our drinks at 8:10. The other family (family of 5) finally got up and walked out. What a shame when we had sat at our hibachi table with virtually NO attention for 45 minutes already. Shame on the management and servers who walked past us and didn't seem to see us- we must have been completely invisible. The seats were promptly replaced with 2 couples. Their drink and food orders taken immediately as they were seated and were told our chef would be with us in 10 minutes. Finally at 9:52 Victor arrived to cook our meals. When asked how many tables he had cooked for during the day he indicated we were the 12th! No wonder he forgot our sauce, no shrimp appetizer given to anyone, shrimp was very much over cooke/chewy and didn't give us the show that some of the other chefs gave. I don't completely fault him and made sure to tip him directly. Our original server put on his jacket after the replaced individuals were seated at our table. Nothing at all said to us. No introduction for his tables to another server or anything. He just left. No one checked on us. One server (Mike?) walked past our table to the one seated in the corner many, many times with not even a blink our direction. My husband and I were without drinks for 45 minutes to an hour before we finally received refills. A couple of the others at our table apparently knew the young lady who was bartender and she kept checking on them. We were never asked or offered anything additional at all. We were excited to discover this place and looked forward to future visits. We live in far East Mesa so obviously not just down the street for us. Not sure about our future with this restaurant. Very sad as they seem established in the community and have repeat customers. By the way, from the time we were SEATED to the time we paid and walked out the door- we were there 3 hours and 15 minutes. We have been to many hibachi establishments and never spent that much time even if we did not have reservations. Most of the time at this restaurant we sat at our table in awe of what was going on and talking to our table mates, not eating or even being taken care of by the servers. One of the other couples indicated they had to cancel with a friend of their that they were to meet at 10 since they also had reservations at 7:30 but were not seated until after 8:30! Came in on a Sunday night, was greeted very nicely by the host. There were two sections, the section where you could eat sushi and other dishes and the hibachi section, where they had the grills. The ambiance was very warm and cordial. The server and the hibachi were both amazing. Very, very professional and attentive. We enjoyed the food that we got. I got some sushi along with the hibachi meal. The steak was good as were the scallops, and there was a ton of food. A really great place for hibachi, I would definitely come back. read more

Ordered jalapeno popper, california roll, and forgot its name but something super spicy tuna roll and miso. Jalapeno popper was pretty good, hot and crispy! Spicy tuna roll was ok, it wasn't bad but I think it could be better in terms of freshness. I feel like their cooked food is better than fresh sashimi type, but gotta try here again! We've come here before, years ago and it was phenomenal. We went the other night for family dinner, and were very unimpressed. 120$ dinner for a really cruddy experience. Food was wayyyyy too salty and overcooked, small portions, and the staff member before we could even say goodbye to the teppan chef told us our time was running out & we needed to leave & pay our tab. Wasn't very clean, smelled like sewage, im pretty sure I saw a washer and dryer behind where we were seated, and again, we were rushed out & they had an empty restaurant... unfortunately we won't be coming back. So I thought I went here over a decade ago and upon walking in, it wasn't the same place. But I decided to stay anyway as my tummy was getting pretty hangry (aka which version of me do you want to see haha). It was around dinner time so I would have expected a decent crowd but it wasn't full at all, and I'd imagine they get a lot of to go orders as I saw many folks and delivery people getting take out. Their sushi was pretty good, especially their sashimi selections. Their rolls weren't bad but not great either. We ended up seeing a pattern of their rolls being 'California roll' based with crab, avocado and cucumber mix. Out of 4 rolls, all had this mix with a slight difference with eel sauce or scallops (these were very tiny scallops, almost as big as a chocolate chip). Maybe it was my menu selecting skills. Service wasn't that great, as I never got a water refill and we have to ask for the missing beer. Our server (she was the blonde) didn't even introduce herself nor seemed to want to provide their guest with any type of service. Womp womp. Not sure I'd stumble into this place again in the future given the service. read more

Staff may have been trying, but this place is completely mismanaged. Despite only having a few tables seated, they were clearly overwhelmed and unable to keep up with orders. They remain active on DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub while having no realistic capacity to fulfill those orders, wasting the time and money of drivers and customers. This is flat-out disrespectful to delivery drivers, whose income depends on timely pickups. When I arrived, another customer was already trying to leave because of the wait, and staff admitted they had no idea when my order would be ready. If a restaurant can't handle its workload, it needs to pause delivery apps instead of passing the consequences onto drivers and customers. As it stands, this place is not worth anyone's time. read more

I'm very sad and disappointed to be having to write this review. My family and I have been going to Ninja Sushi for years now. When my parents come and visit from Tucson, my mom always wants to go to Ninja. When we're tired and not really feeling like going out, we would get it to go. We probably ordered and went to this restaurant at least 2 to 3 times a month. Then Sunday night happen. I was hanging out with a few of my friends and they wanted sushi and I recommended Ninja. We went. They sat us immediately. We asked for a round of waters for our table of five. And it took 10 minutes to get the water. After that, nobody really wanted to order drink drinks because we were afraid it was gonna take forever. We understood that they were busy and we tried to be understanding. We placed our orders and then we waited. Anytime we needed a refill we would have to flag down our server. She was super nice and friendly with other tables at one table. She sat there and talked to them for five minutes we timed her. Not once did she ever come and check on us for the hour and 45 minutes we were there. It took an hour for our food to come out. No apologies just yeah we're backed up and busy. They kept saying the food will be right out. The food will be right out that took 20 minutes. Once the food came out my friends, Teppanyaki was completely overcooked as if they just forgot about it and had it sitting. We finally asked for the check so we could leave and not even took 10 minutes to get. It honestly felt like we were kept hostage, and the server did not acknowledge us. I had placed it to go order for my mom and asked for an extra salad, which I paid for. I should have checked the bag, but I honestly just wanted to get out of there when I got home. There was no extra salad. I called the restaurant back saying I was disappointed. They said a manager would call me and I never received a call. We are so sad and disappointed that we had one of the worst experiences at one of our favorite and regular restaurants. The food is normally good and the service is usually decent. If you were wanting to go here double check to see if they are backed up with to go orders and how long it will take to get your food. Unfortunately my friends had such a terrible time. A lot of sushi to choose from. I love anything with eel sauce. And the prices are very reasonable. The bento boxes are tasty and have plenty of food. I ordered a noodle dish and the portion was about twice what I was expecting for the price. When you do the hibachi dining, the chefs put on a great show. It is one of my 10 year old's favorite things to do. The place is not usually too busy but it is best to make a reservation for hibachi on FRI or SAT nights. My only complaint is that the kitchen can be a little slow when your table has multiple orders. We had to ask if they forgot my daughter's bento box because they had brought out the adult's food and we sat waiting for some time for hers. read more

Both were good. We got a California roll. It was good & cold. We also both got filet mignon medium with fried rice. Soup was good as well as the salad. We really liked the ginger dressing. You do not get a couple shrimp here, but that's okay. The chef was good with a good show & talkative. The rice & veggies were good. We liked that he used garlic. This place is one of my go-to spots in the valley. The salmon is always super fresh and the Yellowtail is SPECTACULAR. The food is great and the menu has been constant for a long time - which for a creature of habit like me - is a really good thing. I always love the Spicy Pork Bulgogi Bento box with spicy salmon roll (with the deluxe upgrade). My other go-to is the sashimi plate with a bowl of sushi rice on the side. They cut the fish to a really nice thickness - they dont skimp on the fish, and their rice is almost perfect. The Yellowtail handroll is KILLER - get it with the "Lean Like a Cho Sauce" and it is straight fire. They also have a really good selection of asian beers and their hot sake is alsways so good. Only critisism is that they are a little slow sometimes - but I tend to go in around dinner rush times - so everyone is there and the staff always hustle to try and keep up. Their staff are friendly and helpful, they know the menu well and are ready to make recommendations if you are new to the cuisine. read more
