We were in the area and decided to stop by for dinner. We walked in and were greeted and told to pick a table. We sat down and the menus were quickly dropped off. We ordered the following: 2 Miso soups 4 Rolls - 1 Mido roll - 1 Shrimp Tempura roll - 1 Dragon Roll - 1 Pancho crunch roll - 2 Jalapeno cream cheese poppers ALLLL the rolls were delicious. Every single one of them tasted fresh and were stuffed. The jalapeno poppers were my favorite as they had a nice crunch to them and were spicy. Service was great and the chef thanked us for coming in. Will be back!

Both sushi and service were great here! We ordered several rolls and they were all fresh and flavorful. Our waitress was friendly and the inside was comfy and welcoming.

My daughters and I came here for a girls night on Friday. There was no wait but the place was busy. We ordered the sushi special which was $38 for three rolls and three Nigiri. The sushi was fresh delicious I love the variety of options to choose from it happened to be somebody's birthday while we were in there and they had these fun lights and a birthday song for the birthday party person overall, our experience was really great. The service was excellent when we were leaving every single person that worked there said goodbye to us. It felt very much like a family run establishment where they just genuinely cared about their customers. I cannot wait to come back here next time I'm in Phoenix.

Mido is a long-time favorite. I used to go with my family fairly often maybe a decade ago, then here and there before the pandemic. Hadn't been back until recently. I met up with a friend for a late dinner around 7pm on a Wednesday. I was surprised how busy it was at that time, or I'm just used to eating earlier. It so happened to be happy hour all day too (their website says happy hour is all day Tuesday through Thursday, 11:30am-2:00pm Friday & Saturday). They give you the main menu, a happy hour sushi menu, and regular sushi menu. The Pancho Top Spicy Crabmeat roll was always a favorite, so I had to get that one again. I also got Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon. I think I got overly excited to dine here that I ordered too much. No doubt that I devoured it all, but I was stuffed! The Pancho Top was just as good as I remembered. Spicy Tuna was pretty good, but I liked the Spicy Salmon better. My friend also ordered 3 rolls, but didn't finish it and took home leftovers. Service was great and moved quickly and efficiently. I recognized one sushi chef - he has been there every time I've ever dined here. I wonder if he's the owner. Regardless, it was nice to see a friendly, familiar face. I can't wait to go back for more sushi!

The food, ambiance, and service are phenomenal. I walked in at 4:30pm and they made me feel at home. The combos they have aren't terribly priced and the presentation, taste, and texture are all amazing. 10/10 I will be back.

I've had a roller coaster ride with Mido, but overall, I continue to return as the quality of the sushi I get is on point. They do have a wide selection of sushi on the menu so you can easily find something that you're looking for. The staff here is always friendly & at one point I remember they would remember me as I used to come in 2 to 3 times a week but over the years, I just haven't had that much free time. The lunch menu is good, but consider that its heavy with rice related sushi items. The lunch deal is worth it. I'm a big sashimi fan so I don't really get to take advantage of it, but it never disappoints and seems fresh. If you are with the group of friends, it's really great as you can order one of the large boats to enjoy your sushi with everything there and it gives you a chance to try a variety of different things.

I love this place when I'm on this side of town! They have amazing ginger dressing! My friend and I shared sushi and an ocean crab roll. Delish and so fresh! I love how Chef Mido always remembers my name when I walk in!

Delicious! We had seaweed salad, egg rolls, the ocean roll, shrimp tempura, calamari roll and, the steak teriyaki dinner. The steak teriyaki was amazing and had so much steak!. Rolls were delicious, staff was super friendly! Will certainly go back soon to try other rolls.

Meeting some friends here for lunch. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by some friendly ladies that told me to pick any table. Once seated, one of the ladies came over with menus, ordering sheets and offered to get me a drink. After my friends showed up, another lady took their drink orders and shortly followed up to see if we were ready to order. We opted for their Yellowtail Kamas each, edamame, pop sushi (it doesn't contain any rice), and their tempura luncheon special (includes 3 pieces of nigiri sushi, California roll and huge portions of their veggie tempura and shrimp tempura). Everything came out fairly quickly. You will not go away hungry. This places has one of the largest pieces of Kama I have ever received. It's a small to medium size establishment with everyone being friendly and professional.

Mido is one of my favorite traditional Japanese restaurants in the area! It is in southern Tempe, technically Chandler but it's worth the drive if you aren't located in Chandler. The staff is very friendly and the sushi chefs are super welcoming. I love to go for their Happy Hour and load up on sushi! I have tried every roll on their lunch menu and just have to say that you can not go wrong. The Tempe Roll (middle) is my favorite fried roll, and the Pancho roll is my favorite non-fried roll. I hope you get to give this place a try!

If you order enough sushi, it comes on a boat!

Best happy hour pricing for a sushi place that I've found in the valley and not to mention how much sushi and the fantastic quality of fish. The authenticity speaks for itself when seeing the menu and the service is realistic for hand made rolls. The establishment is casual which is super nice and convenient for good sushi and they have several tvs with sports playing which was great too.

This is the best sushi in the east valley. There I said it and I stand by it. I might go to another place when I am traveling and I always feel like I am cheating on Pancho. If you are in the east valley, this is a must stop for some great food.

Music is always on pointe and I would never change the look or ambiance of the place either. My last trip here though I had to ask about why the menu had stopped changing as often since we were one of two parties there in the middle of happy hour and there was a large framed picture of a bartender with a bunch of signed notes on the bottom of it beside me at the bar. It turns out that one of the oldest curators and bartenders of the bar and restaurant had passed from a drunk driving incident and I had not known at all! Gosh I was so disappointed in myself that I had ever complained about not having a new menu to try after that...but at the same time it was amazing to hear so many great anecdotes and to learn so much more about him and the history of the bar itself while dining this time. I had a lot of fun times at this bar - including remembering the first time I met that bartender and sharing that memory with the staff that told me their story. They also shared that they would be coming out with a new menu very soon and some of the new items and ideas that would be rolling out so I am also very excited to go back! New food menu tomorrow too?! What?! I was almost tempted to back today to get more of their amazing dishes from the main menu!! Thank you Cat for the amazing hospitality! I learned so much about Gaea in one afternoon too :D Love it. I ordered a few basic and "safe" (but would consider as staple) dishes to test out this place: tempura, spicy tuna roll, rainbow roll, and chicken Yakisoba. Overall, yes, they all hit the standard. They are all good, but not great. Honestly, it will become the go-to 4th place and I would go back if my top 3 are all not available/long wait/close for the day. Lastly, the tempura is the most disappointing of all with portion size. So order 2 plates if you like veggies more than shrimps.

She was super attentive too and kept refilling our drinks throughout the meal. We tried a mix of specialty rolls and more basic rolls. Most of the specialty rolls were around $15 each, while the basic rolls were under $10. The spicy tuna rolls were especially good for the price because they were cheap, but still came out huge. Overall the portions were very generous and the prices weren't bad at all. I got the Hell Fire roll and it definitely lived up to the name. I handle spicy food really well and even for me this thing was extremely spicy. It was almost painfully hot, but honestly I kind of enjoyed the challenge, It was also really good besides just being spicy, so I'd definitely get it again. The inside also had a cool vibe with all the colorful lighting and it wasn't too busy when we went which was nice. Most of our sushi came out almost immediately. The fried rolls understandably took a little longer since they had to be made fresh. My only small complaint is I wish everything would of came out closer to the same time, because some of us already had food while we were still waiting on the fried rolls. Overall, really good food, huge portions, fair prices and great service, definitely a spot I'd come back to.

The menu was 5 courses prix fixe designed by the head chef for this group. The restaurant was closed as a private event. Service was excellent, the food was also so delicious, and cocktails were great too. Shimogamo is one of the few Japanese restaurants in the valley that remind me of eating Japanese food in Japan. It's well prepared, fresh, and high quality. The cocktails are creative and nods to Japan with delicate flavors and unique ingredients. Our courses were: started with the truffle amberjack which is a flavor bomb, very rich and truffle forward. Which I don't always enjoy but when paired with amberjack, it was great. 2nd course was a nigiri plate- 4 choices: sea bream (which I love), a fancy type salmon, toro, and couple pieces of the wagyu roll. Next onto a darn near perfect crab croquet that was creamy with big pieces of crab and perfectly fried, and main course was K4 ranch Wagyu from Prescott. Very buttery and delicious. We ended with a matcha basque cheesecake. The chefs talked about the food, answered questions, and talked about their background. It was an enjoyable dinner and we will be back for the "oysters and cocktails" hour they were promoting. I love both of those things.
