The front office staff and assistants are very friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. However, I would not recommend Nina, the Nurse Practitioner. Her communication skills were lacking, and she seemed unwilling to take the time to explain the procedure or answer questions. The entire visit felt rushed, as though the goal was to finish quickly and move on. As a result, I felt disrespected during my appointment--it reminded me of the kind of experience you might expect at the DMV. I have previously seen Dr. Levin, who was very kind and attentive, but unfortunately he is only available a couple of days each month. read more

I went to this practice as a teenager in the 1990s. I had great experiences with Drs Giacobetti, Leone, and Chittineni. I moved back to Arlington Heights a few years ago, and my more recent experiences have not been as positive. Like other reviewers, I had a very brief (not particularly thorough) annual exam. I was also charged for a copay after I reached my insurance's out of pocket maximum, and my phone calls went unreturned. Most recently, I had a terrible experience with Nina. Her tone was brusque as she quickly diagnosed me with a chronic condition I had never heard of and used terminology I was unfamiliar with, then turned aggressive as I asked follow up questions. I felt blindsided, and her bedside manner was awful. I hope to find a new dermatology practice soon. read more

The Dr was great (hence 1 star) but the surgical area was VERY dirty and dusty a big red flag in the infection world. legs in stools were spattered with dried something, the wheels had hair and other debris. The infection waste container was full and open in the middle of the room from Lord knows how many procedures that day. I don't know what service is cleaning your Arlington Heights offices but they need to be fired or required to take courses in surgical infection prevention. I'll be calling the regulators to come check you out before your infection rates skyrocket or you seriously hurt someone. Shame on you. read more

A Dermatolgy Doctor that is insensitive to his patients I have been going to this practice for 20 years and have always had very good service but not anymore. I had two tags that I requested be removed and was told that insurance didn't cover and I had to pay. For 20 years this was not their policy and they would take care of it. Now it requires payment out of pocket with no explanation. I had a full body inspection that took 3 minutes how thought was this? My wife and a friend had the same thing happen to them. I've been going here for about 15 years and saw Dr. Christine Go. She was wonderful. Unfortunately she moved so they booked me with Dr. Benjamin Raab. I've never had a worse experience with a physician. After waiting in my underwear for an hour for my yearly skin check, he rushes in, barely looks me over, excludes my back entirely, and says 'mhmm, ok, good'. Then he says 'you can check your scalp yourself in the shower'. How am I supposed to check my own scalp? With the eyes in the back of my head? The appt was also to check my rosacea. After 3 mins, he runs out of the room. I reminded the nurse that he was supposed to check my rosacea and refill my face meds. She says 'oh. Well I can get him back in here but you'll likely have to wait another 1/2 hour or come back for another appt.' And I said 'so I'll have to pay another copay if I make another appt bc HE ran out of the room.' Um no. I'm fuming mad at this point. I have zero confidence in his checkup of my skin. I'll be going somewhere else to have my yearly check done. This guy is horrible. How does he 'run behind schedule' when he spends 3 mins with each patient? Based on the other reviews, it seems others have had the same experience. If I knew where to report his behavior to a medical board, I would. His behavior is going to be causing folks to miss potential skin cancers. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

I have been a patient here for 5 years and my regular dermatologist is Christine Go. She has successfully helped me with several serious skin issues including squamous cell carcinoma. She conducts annual examinations on my wife and I and she does a magnificent job. I have a ton of confidence in her and my wife and I are very comfortable with Christine which is important with a dermatologist. The staff is always friendly and helpful and I would highly suggest this practice for anyone interested in their skin health. I called to schedule my appointment ,so they scheduled me to see Christine and did not even told me that she is PA not MD (this is annoying i would like to know whom am i seeing) So i came for appointment she checked me did not even paid attention to my problem. Right away she offered me getting rid of my acne scars by doing microneedling . She said i just need 3 sessions ,so did two -absolutely no result at all . So manager calls me because i called her and said microneedling is not enough and i need more staff to be done. So what?????? James Delis is a "Miracle Worker." He has a heart of gold and strength of knowledge. It was truly a surprise to meet much more than a great doctor, he is an excellent human being. When I came in I was very upset and I needed to heal, I left that day standing taller. I came in covering my skin and left with it uncovered. I got the right help at the right time, but it was the kindness I was shown that healed my hurt spirit. I am a business professional and I am used to being in front of the camera. I have a horrible case of contact dermitis/eczema on my hands, which steadily got worse the longer I sought treatment at Leone Dermatology. After seeing five doctors at that location, I was given a rude handshake by Dr. Downes, who seemed annoyed that her "genius" ideas did not result in an improvement, and was sent to Northwestern. I had seen five different doctors at this location, and it appears that none of them bothered to consult with each other, nor did they seem to look at what had already been tried by the other doctors. I was given the same medication twice, even after I told them I had already tried and failed with that medication. Dr. Downes could not be bothered to look through my records until I practically insisted that I had tried the medication before. She huffed and reluctantly read through my records, and oh yeah, I was right. Bottom line: these are all things the doctors at Leone Dermotology should have done and neglected to do, even after eight months of treatment. You might want to go somewhere where the doctors actually confer with others to try and decide what is causing the rash, not just treating it to no avail. read more

I showed him my concerns with my skin and in under ten minutes he had me on my way with exactly what I needed to ensure I got those concerns taken care of. He was knowledgeable, professional, and most Important he was incredibly kind! I also appreciate the samples I was given so I didn't have to spend unnecessary money on some of his recommendations that I did definitely need. I called this place to see how much it would cost to remove a skin tag. I was told $15 each. Great I said, sign me up. I thought to myself how does this place stay in business charging so low. After I booked the appointment I came across the Yelp reviews and was shocked. Most of the reviews talked about poor customer service. For $15 each, I can put up with poor customer service. "Customer Service" wasn't as bad as I anticipated. There was nothing to complain about. Everyone was friendly doing their job. The PA I had was nice, but not helpful. She said my skin tags were warts,not skintags. That they would have to freeze them off. The cost she said was like $300. I was willing to be spend $150. She suggested I call my primary care physician and have them take care of it since they would cover it. I have HMO and I know they wouldn't cover something "cosmetic" So I go to check out and the receptionist told me there's an office visit of $116. I shook my head, told her I never knew there was an office visit charge, and she didn't care. I didn't want to deal with headache's of arguing this so I thought i just pay it and write a review on Yelp. Hopefully no one else falls for their tricks. the other person said it best, Run! I was a BRAND NEW patient and wanted to have my dandruff and rosacea addressed as well as discuss hair removal and back acne. FYI - I was told on the phone that they do laser hair removal at their other facility. I came in and saw an Asian physician's assistant (PA) who was AWFUL!! I know others have yelped that there is NO customer service here. There is not. If you value your time and sanity. Do not go here. The PA was abnoxious. Used terminology that was not communicative and provided NO TREATMENT WHATSOEVER. She kept saying...to all of my concerns...that's cosmetic...that's cosmetic. Try a med spa. I was like what the hell is a med spa?? She gave me a look and was like "you know....there are places like this all over" - WTF. Then she tells me about a cream that will help facial hair. I thought great! Some sort of action I can take for my dermatological needs. She tells me, "but it's really expensive". And then says, "it doesn't really work that well, only reduces the amount of hair." I ask how much it is. She says again, "it's really expensive, I wouldn't want you to waste your money" - REALLY?? What the hell.... The other yelps on this page seem to say the same thing: "They were annoyed I was there." "My appointment was rushed." EXACTLY. Then I'm checking out - the front desk is unwilling to take a $100 bill for a $50 co-pay and then charges my card twice $45 then $5. Complete incompetence. Complete disrespect. It seems like experiences here greatly depend upon the doctor. I saw Dr. Hoyer for about a year and had a wonderful experience. My husband and his brother had both gone to Dr. Leone as teens/early twenties and they reported really liking him. I really appreciated their early hours so that I could get appointments or tests done before I went to work. That flexibility really makes a difference! Well, I called this morning and got their voicemail saying "leave a message, your call is very important to us". No one returned my call and when I tried again, the recording said "we are closed". Who closes before 3:30? Website says they close at 4:00. If this is any sign of how they treat their patients, and run their clinic, then I'm out! Plenty of other fish in the sea. This establishment lacks in customer service. I tried making an appointment a couple of weeks ago, left a message, and never received a call back. Also, they do not have anybody to answer phones even when the office is open. I tried calling at 10:45 this morning and sat on hold for 10 minutes before hanging up and deciding I need to take my business elsewhere. I have seen Dr. Hoyer twice, and each time she seems like she is in a rush to get out of the room, when our appointments last roughly five minutes. Dr. Delis saved my 5 yr old sons hand from a crazy, stubborn case of warts, he must have had 40 all together, including 4 on his lips. I have been going to leone for the last 7 years. This place used to be wonderful-an efficient, friendly, highly effective dermatology center. In the past 2 years the quality of care has significantly diminished. The front staff remains friendly; however the doctors are horribly rude and not that effective in the method of treatment they recommend. I actually had one doctor tell me, after I waited for 2 hours to be seen for my 8 month old, that she had a headache and was annoyed with her appointment staff for overbooking her. Dr. Downes was completely and utterly unprofessional and I will never see her again and very likely not return to leone. No one apologized for me waiting with two small children for 2 hours to see a doctor who took one short look (less than one minute) at my daughter. Very, very disappointed. read more

Wanted to see a Dermatoligist about my Rosecea. Made the Appt which they had a ton of rules about filling out paper work online. Who has time for that? When I went in for the Appt today the front desk staff VERY VERY RUDE! They told me my secondary insurance would'nt be covered because I hadn't changed to my married name yet. They treated my like a 5 year old at this Dr. office.told me I couldn't sit down to do my 15 pages of paper work. I am in the service industry as well and If I treated my clients like that I would go hungry. I turned to Leone Dermatology fall of 2014 because we recently relocated and my previous dermatologist was quite the hike now. In short the female doctor I saw was horrible and unprofessional. I've struggled with acne all my life and seen my share of dermatologists, but Leone Dermatology IS THE WORST DERMATOLOGY CLINIC I HAVE EVER BEEN!!!! I came to her seeking help and instead they tried to push me into a super-expensive version of Accutane with all these stipulations. Once they were able to find a medication combination that was a reasonable price, this crap destroyed my face within 5-7 days! By the 6th and 7th days I was waking up with my eyes almost watering because my face was in so much pain from the nodular acne I was experiencing. I called the office back up in the morning, the doctor "conveniently" called me back not until 6:30pm that day. She was not sympathetic at all to my condition and basically told me "well, you'll just have to tough it out" for maybe a few months." A few months!!??? I couldn't live like this for a few more days and this "doctor" is telling me to deal with it as it might be this way for months before (and if) it gets better - hell no. Last but definitely not least, then they started to aggressively harassing me for payment!! After that conversation the next day I threw the medication away, made an appt. at my old dermatologist for the following week. I was put back on the prescription that I was on previously and my face cleared up completely within 10 days! I would NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO LEONE DERMATOLOGY. For anyone in the greater Chicago area in need of a Dermatologist...do yourself a favor and steer clear of Leone Derm. Go to The Dermatology Institute of Naperville instead, you won't be disappointed. read more
