The staff is fast and attentive and the theme / atmosphere is clean and authentic. Last table we had was Osaka inspired. We used to go to our local sushi place which was good. But each specialty roll cost between $17.00 and $19.99. 4 rolls and an app costs more than Miga - where you get everything you would want and more. The salad was fresh and enjoyable, but the edamame was a bit underwhelming and could've used more salt for flavor. The shrimp tempura roll wasn't as warm as expected, which took away from it a bit. I placed an online order and arrived a few minutes after they opened doors. They must have made in early in advance. On the positive side, the Denville King roll was definitely the standout! I've been going here for a while now and it's mine and my family's go-to spot for all you can eat sushi. The prices do seem to go up every time we come, but the food is usually spot on. Some days it can be better than others, but overall it's still the best sushi spot hands down. They're super quick and efficient and are always ready to take your next menu to bring out more food without hesitation. My boyfriend and I came to try a new sushi place and we enjoyed Miga! We were sat at the bar immediately. Our food came out very fast, within 15-20 minutes and servers were VERY attentive and quick. I got aged tofu as an app and it was good! Could use more dipping sauce but the tofu was nice and crispy. I also got a sweet potato roll, which is a classic and was yummy. My tofu skin & avocado roll was the real star though, never had tofu skin and it was super unique! My boyfriend got pork gyoza and said they were good! He also got the Beauty & the Beast roll, tuna avocado roll, Alaska roll, and yellowtail jalapeño roll. The food is amazing. We really loved this place, in the past. What's really foul is their unspoken practice of limiting how much of you order they'll serve you. There's a 90-minute limit on the all-you-can-eat menu. After a 20-minute wait, they brought out about half of our order, then about half an hour later, when we asked, they said "Yes, you still have the rest of your order coming", and when we asked again 15 min. later, they said our order was fulfilled, and we could order again. They deliberately let you run out of time AND also wait out those on-average 20 minutes your body takes to send the "I'm full" signal to your brain. When I eat all-you-can-eat sushi, I make it a point to never waste food, eat every piece I/we order, and to thoroughly enjoy the experience by ordering a very respectable amount and treating it like a challenge. This restaurant was suggested by my son as a fun outing with family and a few of his friends, so 8 of us ventured out there last evening. I was blown away by the number of patrons awaiting tables, and even more so by the sheer volume of those to grab pick-up orders. I felt we made a good choice if this joint was this hopping! It was good Friday, however, so perhaps a bunch of beef eaters chose the Christian appropriate dining option! We had a 6:30pm reservation, and were seated by 6:45pm. Not bad, given that it's all you can eat and the best restaurant manager cannot estimate how long a table may be seated, I get it. A few tables were pushed together and nicely cleaned/prepped to facilitate our group and we handed in our first order of sushi. All eight of us opted for the "all you can eat" dining, rather than a la carte pricing. Seemed to make sense, even though two of our group don't touch sushi. They likey overpaid for what they consumed. Our first "boat" of rolls came out fairly quickly, especially given the crowded status of the restaurant. The rolls look good enough, if not a bit mushy. I can't explain it, but most discounted sushi tends to have that lack of firmness that higher-end places display. The straight tuna pieces were a bit of a disappointment, as the texture and color were off. I can only imagine they cannot procure "sushi grade" tuna at these prices. The specialty rolls were all pretty good, the avocado bright in color and fresh tasting. They really do keep bringing it as long as you're ordering, as we also requested a robust second serving. We demolished all but one little piece, which was no issue. I understand they will add to your bill any rolls not consumed to control waste, which I fully support. One little piece did not incur such a charge. The kids all ordered tempora fried oreos for dessert, and they honestly looked sad and unappetizing. I did not partake. Most interesting to me was the wasabi and ginger dishes, as I've never seen wasabi with quite that luminescent green color to it. I cannot describe it, except it looked reminiscent of pistachio ice cream or similar. It wasn't the best tasting wasabi I've ever consumed, but far from bad and it packed a decent amount of heat. Decided that it was time to return for the all-you-can-eat sushi. I am not sure why, after raising prices yet again, the quality is suffering. Wouldn't the fact that prices increased mean that they can at least keep the same quality? The tempura shrimp has turned into a thick, breaded log with 80% doughy, disgustingly thick breading, and some barely discernable shrimp. It was one of my favorite appetizers - until tonight. They also turned the small (whole) rock shrimp appetizer into ground balls of shrimp-like substance covered in that same thick gloppy batter. They were now like thick, heavy dough balls with a fishy taste. Sashimi and sushi - still good. The beauty and the beast roll appeared to be missing something. The soft shell crab roll wasn't - soft shell crab. Not sure what it was. I even took one of the pieces apart - there was something very crispy in there, and I still have no idea what it was. I get the feeling they think people who come for the all-you-can-eat are just interested in quantity, and/or they think we don't know what the food is supposed to taste like. Something is definitely off. Service was rushed - at about an hour, they asked about dessert - while I was still eating!!! I think this was the last time. This was my first time back here after their recent expansion. The new addition looks very good, and they definitely will benefit based on how much business they get. The AYCE option was chosen of course. The price did increase, but that was apparent based on the current environment. This was definitely the most I ever ate here. It was mostly all very fresh and delicious. I was not a fan of the spicy seaweed crab salad this time. The seaweed seemed a little off to me. Multiple types of sushi were tried and some I have explained in previous reviews where similar thoughts apply. One that stood out to me was the peanut avocado roll. It was my first time trying and it was interesting. The crunch component of the peanut really enhanced the overall roll. I also had a new addition of the Oreo tempura, which was basically a fried Oreo, but not as good. I decided to add that to the strawberry ice cream and it really made for a refreshing and satisfying dish. It capped off an excellent meal. read more
