First time, trying out the famous burgers and they were delicious!!! We thoroughly enjoyed this small treasure in the heart of Menasha.

Hidden gem diner! Charcoal grill burgers are so flavorful with the buttery goodness that is placed on top with a toasted bun. You are definitely allowed to get no butter if your not up for being messy. But how much fun is that?? You seat yourself in one of the small booths or counter seating with red swivel chairs that wrap around while the employees prepare your food in front of you. They are very attentive and down to earth. I order the cheeseburger, fries and pepper jack cheese curds for a switch up. They use paper boats and styrofoam cups for shakes. (No disrespect to The Old Grog's Steak Sandwich or Under the Dome's Dome Burger, my Silver and Bronze Medalists) I award best burger to Mihm's based on 30+ years of local "research". I've tried them all, even the extinct ones from The Hungry Bull (RIP) and Dave's Burger Shanty (RIP). Credibilty established. A Mihm's burger is served on a perfectly toasted and "sufficiently" buttered bun and is charcoal grilled to perfection. Loads of pickles and onions if that's your thing. And it should be. read more

Visited this restaurant today. Food was great- had the double steak burger and surely one of the best burgers I have had in Wi. Fries were good too but the chicken dumpling soup was just ok. Reason for not giving the place 5 stars is that the staff isnt overly friendly. I have digestive issues and need a few min to sit after eating. They were not busy and one of the employees made a comment that they wanted me out of there. I would go again but not expect any conversation from the staff. read more

What a great place! This is a small local establishment does is a cash only business. Their burger is one of the best I've had in a long time, even better than fancy joints and everybody's favorite hamburger chain. I'll tell you another thing their customer service is spot on! I travel for a living and eat a mom-and-pop restaurants as well as some of the most high-end around the country, and I was pleasantly surprised at how welcoming and attentive their staff is. I definitely recommend them and if I'm in town again will be back for their butter hamburger. read more

I can't say anything bad about the place, except maybe it's way too small for the clientele they attract. Even before the recent announcement, if you didn't get there by 11:30 AM you were going to wait a bit to get a seat. That's how great it is. Food and service has always been great! The food is greasy. The burger buns are soggy and black with grill grease. Yuck. The place is very small. It only takes a few steps to get to a table but they absolutely insist you wear a mask for the six steps it takes to get to your table. I witnessed a customer walk a few steps inside when a worker jumps out from behind the counter and chest bumps the customer backing him up while yelling at him to get out without a mask. A very authentic diner/greasy spoon experience. Everyone who visits the area should dine here at least once. Friendly staff and really good food selection. Interesting experience with no plates, cash only, etc. The butter burgers are the popular choice and I do recommend trying it at least once but it is completely acceptable to turn down the dollop of butter when ordering. This place is classic American "fast food". Real hamburgers, real onion rings, real malts! It is probably not the healthiest of choices, but it is delicious. The atmosphere is classic too. The U-shaped counter with stools and the booths look like they have been around for a while, but they are still in good shape. It just adds to the charm of Mihm's. The place fills up fast at lunch time, but service is quick and people come and go at a steady pace. A few things to note: They do not take credit or debit cards. This is fairly rare in this day. The food is served at your table, but it comes wrapped in paper rather than in a basket or on a tray. Nothing wrong with this, I just wanted to point it out. They only serve Pepsi, no Coke. I don't actually drink either, but I know some people care about this. Overall, I like Mihm's Charcoal Grill. I avoid the McChain's, so it is refreshing to find a place like this to satisfy my craving for good, old-fashioned junk food. I will be back. read more

For my 100th Yelp review, I have celebrated it with a trip to a restaurant of my dad's childhood... Mihm's Charcoal Grill in Menasha. Now, it's a little pricey, but the amount of food you get makes it worth it! The cheeseburgers here are no joke. I highly reccomend adding butter to them, once that's done, you have one of the most death-feeling burgers you will ever eat. It's so good, but so unhealthy at the same time. I also tried the pepper jack cheese curds. These have a little bit of a spicy kick to them. If you're like me and want a spicy kick, get them! Also, when you're finished eating, go get you a vanilla or chocolate malt! This is the treat that really hits the spot. I can't explain it any further. Go fill yourself up at Mihm's after a long run or walk. It's a classic in the Fox Valley!! read more

The burger was good. My problem with this place is what they don't put on the burger. First off, I asked for grilled onions, they said they "we dont do that" they said they had onions they just don't grill them. As if they don't grill, Even though their grilling burgers right in front of me. What's the problem with accommodating your customers with minor requests. Throwing some onions right beside the patties is not a big deal. 2nd thing I thought was ridiculous was they don't have tomatoes. How do you expect to serve burgers, "The Most Common American Dish" without serving the most common ingredient? 3rd thing i thought was unacceptable, is that they charge extra for lettuce. Once again, another very common thing in Hamburgers. Same for Mayo, which was extra too. And the last thing I thought was really dumb is they don't accept payments through credit card, or debit. But right their inside the restaurant mounted on the wall is a high tech fancy ATM machine. So if you don't have the cash on you, you have to waste 2.00 on top of your meal. Was bad enough as it is they charge you for lettuce and mayo, they come and squeeze you even more with this ATM charge. I for 1, wont go back there. read more

I had a craving for a burger from Kroll's (longtime burger joint in Green Bay, WI), but we live 40 minutes from Green Bay and I didn't want to make the drive just for a burger. So, I asked my husband if there was a restaurant nearby that makes burgers similar to Kroll's. If you're not familiar, the type of burger I was looking for is made on a bun that's hard on the top, and lots of butter on the burger/bun. He thought about it, and then suggested we try Mihm's in Menasha. He pulled up a few pictures people posted on Yelp, and the burger looked exactly like what I was craving, so off we went! We got there on the same evening Menasha had their business Halloween event, (go figure!) so it was much busier than normal in downtown Menash. Mihm's was also busy. In fact, we were lucky to find two open stools at the counter that runs around parameter of the grill area. Once we decided what we wanted, we ordered our cheeseburgers, and despite the big crowd, we got our food within 15-20 minutes. Not bad at all! Let me tell you, that burger was exactly what I was craving. I got my cheeseburger exactly how they make them: with onions, butter and pickles. Now, the cheeseburger was delicious, but wow! Do they put a GIANT glob of butter on it! I scraped most of it onto the plate because it was just too much (you can see it in the photo, although it was even bigger in person. LOL!) They put TONS of white onions on it too, so I ended up scraping some of them off too. I like butter and onions, but I don't want a mouthful of them. But the entire cheeseburger experience was great - it was so yummy! We also shared an order of cheese curds and they were delicious as well! The only thing we didn't care for was the chocolate shake my husband got. There was no love in that shake. But, I was there for the burger, and boy oh boy, did it deliver! I'm so happy we found a great burger joint that's only 15 mins away. We will definitely be back to Mihm's. read more

Mihm's is pretty much my favorite restaurant in the whole world! Burgers are dripping with grease and is by far the tastiest burger I have had in my entire life. Cheesecurds and french fries are typical staples and are just the right portion. My dad's favorite is the steak burger. Yes, believe it or not this is one of the few places that still allow you to smoke it which is a drawback. However, it's worth getting lung cancer from secondhand smoke to eat here or you can be wise and take it to go. Also depending when you go there may or may not be seating, there is limited space. Every time I come home to visit it is a must that I stop here. It's a hole in the wall and a bit dated, but it never bothered me. I'm not going there for the atmosphere. I am not sure why I haven't reviewed Mihm's yet, because it is home of what is widely considered to be Menasha's signature food. This is a little family burger joint that's easy to miss if you aren't looking for it, but everyone still knows the reputation even if they haven't been there. My useful information to you- order your burger with "light butter." If you go in there not knowing what a Mihm's Burger is and you forget this information, you may not come out alive. Enough said.
