The sweet potato roll was a savory, crispy delight. The vegetable roll was very fresh tasting. And the HUGE vegetable hibachi plate was delicious! Wonderful Sushi Regular Deluxe, and Gyoza. My only issue with our sushi, I prefer it attached to the rice with wasabi (my fish fell off of the rice). Did the Sushi Deluxe entree for lunch, at the bar. First, if you walk into a "Japanese" restaurant and no one yells an irasshaimase! welcome at you, the place probably isn't run by Japanese. Mikado isn't. Next, if you sit down at the sushi bar and the chef totally ignores you, he's either having a bad day or he's not Japanese. Itamae are supposed to provide witty banter as they prepare your food... that's the whole point of sitting at the bar! No hot oshibori to wipe your hands with--sushi is finger food!--but they did have hand sanitizer on the bar next to the soy. The lunch came with a salad (meh) and bowl of miso shiru... with the customary-in-America spoon and nano-cubes of tofu. Ok taste-wise but nothing to crow about. Same for the sushi when it came: it tasted OK but didn't thrill. The nine nigiri pieces of various fish were finger thin... which was lucky since the rice they rode in on was like finger bones. The pieces of tuna roll that also came with were also finger thin... and I would swear there were gaps in the rice inside the roll. All in all, it was a disappointing lunch. The only really good thing was the service from the non-Asian server (whose name I didn't catch). I may go back to try their other offerings, but I'm done with their sushi. If you want the real thing, spend the time and money and hit one of the Japanese places in Columbus. Or splurge and get more bang for your buck with one of the deluxe Snow Fox packs at Troy Kroger. read more

4 of us ate here tonight. We ordered 6 sushi rolls of various types and 2 different salads. We all shared so we had a good taste of the sushi. All of it was about as fresh as fresh can get. You could tell because there was little seasoning to cover it up. That includes the spicy rolls. Salads were also fresh and the dressing was lightly seasoned. My grandson ordered off the kids menu and got chicken, brown rice and vegetables. He bashed on the chicken, ate it all and about 1/2 the rice. I'd say he liked it. They don't serve alcohol yet but they say that's coming in a week or so. The only criticism was that the sushi was so mildly seasoned. I recognize that to others this might be highly desirable given the freshness. But for us, we prefer a bit more of a spicy kick. read more

Anyone in Piqua knows that when it comes to dining establishments- the options are slim. Luckily Mikado has come in to steal the show on options for sushi, hibachi, and Japanese food. While the overall ambiance needs work (just on the front of the quietness), the restaurant space is really beautiful. The staff is friendly and not at all overly obtrusive, which is appreciated in a place where I like to just sit and have good conversation. On the front of food, the sushi is always freshly made and they have great lunch specials. I always get tea with my meals and the staff makes sure to refill it and keep it hot. Next time I'm in town, I'm planning to try something off of the hibachi menu because it looks delicious as well. read more

We always start with edamame and gyoza. Yum!! The rolls taste fresh and they offer lots of options so you're sure to find some that you like. I normally stick with just sushi when going to a Japanese restaurant, but my husband ordered noodles the other day and they were absolutely delicious!! Awesome find! Loved it! Had the seaweed salad which had julienned cucumber in it as well, it was delicious. The vegetable roll was beautiful, see attached photo. And the Age Tofu was delicious and presented beautifully. My husband had the hibachi combinations salmon and steak and said it was delicious. Clear soup was a little salty. This was a solid choice in this small town for some sushi I didn't expect to find great sushi and I didn't lol but it was very ok no real complaints the Emporer roll was my favorite the Ohio roll wasn't bad but the volcano roll was just down right confusing my lady got the hibachi it was also just ok nothing great but no complaints the server however was exceptional very attentive and on the ball I would have probably given 2 stars since I can't do 2 1/2 but he made it a SOLID 3 and if I was ever having a bad craving for sushi in a pinch in this small town I would definitely come back the server was preppy looking white guy kind of young very good don't remember his name he had a bowl cut lol enjoy read more
